So, here's an issue I forgot to address: if a request is similar to a one-shot I've already done (or it is literally the same request phrased differently), then I will just do the first one I see, sorry. I've noticed about two or three of these from past requests so I've just done this, but I wanted to let you guys know about it too. Please check before sending me something like: Can I see Mabel's thoughts in such and such episode and see if I have done it or not first. I just don't want you guys to think I'm ignoring you if I don't do yours, because this is probably the only reason why I will skip a request.
From x Inspired Addict x: "I have a request again! How about Dipper's thoughts when he found outthat Stan has the other two journals? And how he became so angry at the very last 1:30 seconds?"
Oh, man. I have so many NWHS requests it's unbelievable. However, this is definitely one I want to do, so let's hop back on board the feels train, fellas!
Inconceivably
He hadn't been prepared for the sight that greeted him. The whole underground lab, the surveillance cameras, the secret vending machine door Stan apparently never bothered to tell them about... It was all too much. Mabel was trying to remain positive, saying Stan couldn't be a bad guy, that he loved them still. Dipper was having a more difficult time believing the man was innocent, unlike his sister. He couldn't believe the man he had been willing to fight a demon for in his mindscape was keeping these huge secrets from them.
Was Agent Trigger right all along? Was that speech really true? Was Stan what he seemed to be?
The answer was obvious to the latter, and he tried to ignore the way his gut twisted at the thought.
But then he spotted the desk and everything was thrown upside-down for the brunette.
Two maroon journals with numbers on the cover sat directly in sight on the surface of the desk. 1 and 2. He pulled out his own book and looked at the three, his throat clenching, struggling to control his breathing.
He gave up as anger took over, a pain in his heart tightening in his chest. All this time, after every it's not real, kid; you need to stop making up these things; your dumb obsession is going to get us all killed... Stan had kept this from him? He knew Dipper cared about the mysteries of the town, knew he was attached to the journal more than he liked to admit... and he said nothing about the other journals right in front of his face?!
Any possible belief he had left that Stan wasn't lying to them vanished and he kicked the wall, ranting about this to the other two.
The worst part was, Dipper had actually believed everything was okay between the two. He had known Stan was proud of him and tried to toughen him up, but was it all an act? If they were growing so close, why would he keep this from him? Didn't he trust his own family?
Unless maybe Stan wasn't a good guy. What if he really was...a bad guy?
Dipper noticed Mabel was looking at him worriedly and shrugged it off. He wasn't okay, couldn't she see that? Why wasn't she upset about the journals as well? True, she didn't care about them the way he did, but she should at least be somewhat angry that Stan had lied!
Even Soos looked disappointed and slightly mad with the way things were turning out here, and it was common knowledge that the man-child would do anything for Stan Pines (if that even was his real name).
A sudden thought struck him as he recalled something from when Gideon took over the Shack, a certain page...
He opened his journal and the other two, placing them all together and staring in shock at the triangular figure it made. It was the blueprints for the portal through the window in front of them. An uneasy churning in his gut made him reach for the blacklight and switch it on, pointing at the pages.
Everyone gasped as they read the warning from the author. Dipper wanted to scream and punch something, namely his great-uncle. Was he stupid? Did he not know that this could end the universe? He should have listened to McGucket; his own family was trying to start the apocalypse right under his nose, and he hadn't even realized it!
Am I the only one who felt Dipper's pain during this bit? Everyone always talks about how he was so angry and violent, but I don't think that they get that he's a twelve year old boy who was told the entire summer up until recently that "supernatural stuff in this town isn't real" constantly by his great-uncle, and he was trying to get Stan to believe it for so long. And now he finds that not only did the man lie about his own existence possibly, he also kept the other journals from him deliberately, showing he was probably researching them just like Dipper (albeit for different reasons). He wasn't acting out of sole anger, and it definitely wasn't out of line - Dipper was just a kid who found out someone he loved and trusted had been hiding so much from them, and he just... he was in pain.
Sorry for the rant, I just wanted to share my thoughts on this bit of NWHS.
