Chapter 44: Leaving It All Behind
'Having you ever had a time in which you wished everything was just perfect? That you no longer have to worry about the pain and anguish of your past? Moments like those are far, few, and in between and should be cherished when they arise. Pacifica can for sure say that as she prepares to tie the knot with the only person who ever understood her, especially through her family's façade. It'll all be left behind when the words 'I Do' are spoken!'
Red, blonde, and white were the only colors that she saw around her. Her blonde hair that was nicely fashioned into an updo, red roses that were in her bouquet and the choice flower for their wedding, and her pristine white dress which she couldn't take her eyes off of while staring at her reflection in the full body mirror. She couldn't believe that was happening to her after everything she has been through. The pain of her abuse, agony of what use to be her life, and the facades that she tried so desperately to hide behind, but none of that mattered now and in just thirty minutes, it would all fade to black and will be nothing but a distant memory. It's about time if you hear her say it.
"Don't worry, you'll almost done." Pacifica's bridesmaid of honor, Mabel, said to her as she fixed Pacifica's veil so that it was proportionate to the front of her gown. "Just a few more adjustments."
Pacifica heaved a heavy sigh as she continued staring into the eyes of the person who was her reflection. This person held a spitting image to the bride and for once, the two finally held an agreement on the facial expression that the flesh and blood copy did her best did find her entire life and on this day, she has found it refusing for anything or anyone to take that away from her.
Mabel made a few more adjustments to her veil and stepped off of the stool behind the blonde woman, the twenty year old beaming a smile at her handy work.
"And you're done!" Mabel proudly announced as she held her arms out in a presenting way. "My brother is going to drop dead when he sees you."
At those words, Pacifica did her best to keep from shedding happy tears as her mascara already had to be reapplied three times previously as she still couldn't believe, but was yet happy that she has made it to that point in her life. Giving herself on more glance over, Pacifica turned to Mable with a smile.
"You did an excellent job Mabel." Pacifica voiced with a smile, her happy tears threatening to spill over and ruin her makeup. "I'm so happy that you are my bridesmaid of honor. This wedding wouldn't be what it is now without you."
"Yep, all it needed was the Mabel difference." Mabel smiled as she and Pacifica embraced each other in a hug with Mabel taking care not to wrinkle Pacifica's dress. The two girls separated and beamed a smile at the other.
"You know Mabel, I never thought that it would be Dipper that I'd marry and spend the rest of my life with." Pacifica began as she took a seat at the vanity in the room, her vision turned away from Mabel. "I thought I'd always marry some rich guy with brunette hair that my mother chose for me to marry so to keep the linage of the Northwest wealth going, but I'm more than happy that it's Dipper. I mean he's everything I've always wanted in a guy. He's intelligent, hard working, ambitious, and he was the first person to ever see past what my parents created and found the real me. A lot of guys would run on sight once they find out who I was and what my family was, but not Dipper."
"Well Dipper isn't easily scared you know?" Mabel began elaborating. "He's always had this determination about him to not let anything stand between him and solving a good mystery. However he is afraid of Bill Cipher though."
"Who?" Pacifica questioned as she turned to Mabel with Mabel quickly realizing who just mentioned.
"Oh I mean Phil Ciber." Mabel fibbed to quickly cover up the name she let slip past her lips. "Yea, that's it. There was this neighbor that really freaked Dipper out back at home in Piedmont. He always said that the guy was spying on him, though I never saw it."
Pacifica nodded as Mabel turned away and nervously rubbed the back of her neck, having saved her and Dipper from a round of questions as to who Bill Cipher was.
"Well, after today, I can't wait to go on those adventures with him." Pacifica expressed with a smile. "I know he'd be happy to have me at his side."
"What no kids?" Mabel teased. "No little Pacifica's and Dippers?"
"Well, Dipper and I haven't quite gone that far yet with that part of our lives, but in the event we do, I know you'll be there to help us take care of them." Pacifica smiled as she turned back to Mabel.
"Arts and Crafts are my specialty." Mabel proudly expressed.
A sudden knock at the bride chamber door interrupted the two ladies.
"Who is it?" Pacifica called out, hoping it wasn't Dipper trying to steal a peek of her in her dress again.
"Your father." Bill Northwest's voice spoke from the other side of the door, which gave Pacifica the relief she was hoping for. "I'd like to speak to you before the ceremony."
"I'll leave you too alone." Mabel squealed as she straightened out her powdered blue dress and sash as part of the wedding colors Pacifica and Dipper picked, which are white and powder blue.
Getting a quick look at her own hair, which is banana curled and pinned up in the back with her bangs swooped to the right side of her face as a loose banana curl hung in her face on the left side, Mabel smiled and slipped out of the room as Bill slipped in. Seeing her father, Pacifica stood up and gave the man a small smile with her father returning the smile as he gave his little girl the once over.
"My little princess is all grown up." Bill spoke as he sniffed back the tears that were threatening to fall. "I guess after today, I won't be able to call you that huh?"
"I guess, but that's only if you want to." Pacifica replied with a small shrug. "I'll always be your little girl daddy, even after today."
"No Pacifica, after today, you're just going to be my princess." Bill expressed as he engulfed Pacifica in a loving hug as a few stray tears rolled down his cheeks. "Little can no longer describe you."
Bill released Pacifica and wiped away his tears.
"If only your mother were here to see this, she'd be so proud of you." Bill tenderly voiced. "I know I am, just seeing you like this."
That sentence alone made Pacifica slightly roll her eyes and cough a bit, her delicate gloved hand only lightly brushing against her lipstick painted lips.
"I know daddy." Pacifica said quietly, not caring for the mention of the woman who made her life a living hell.
"Dipper is one lucky guy and I'm glad that he has the best woman in the world by his side." Bill continued. "He really made the right choice and I can't wait to see how many grandchildren you two give me."
"Oh daddy, not you too!" Pacifica playfully whined. "Mabel just said the same thing not too long ago. Dipper and I aren't sure if we're going to have kids yet."
"Well could you at least give it some thought?" Bill playfully pleaded as Pacifica playfully rolled her eyes. "I know that your children are going to be so beautiful."
"Well Dipper and I did speak on it once, but we didn't go any further than just that, a thought." Pacifica confessed. "So I'm not sure what will happen in that area."
"Well whatever you two decide, I'll be proud of you no matter what." Bill smiled. "But I would really love a grandchild before I join your mother on the other side."
Before Pacifica could reply to her father, a knock occurred at the door as Mabel happily popped into the room, gaining the attention of the two.
"It's time!" Mable happily squealed. "See you down the aisle!"
Mabel slipped out the room as a large smile appeared on Bill's face.
"Well Princess, your time is now." Bill expressed as he held his right arm out to her. "You have a date with destiny."
Batting her eyelashes, Pacifica intertwined her left arm with Bill's right as the two prepared to leave the bride's chambers.
In the main church, Dipper and his groomsmen Soos (Dipper's best man), Tyrone, Human! Bill, and Stan were staring down the aisle waiting for the bride to arrive on the scene and even more for "Here Comes The Bride" to begin playing so to get the show on the road.
"What is she doing back there? Putting another layer of make up on?" Stan hissed to Dipper. "I'm paying the priest by the hour here."
"She'll be out any minute now Stan." Dipper calmly replied. "And I can't wait to see her."
"Who would have thought Pine Tree, that you'd get married before Mabel and I." Human Bill mused. "I certainly thought that we would tie the knot before you and Pacifica did, but either way, I'm happy for you. Just know that you'll be the best man at my wedding."
"Don't remind me." Dipper voiced with a heavy sigh as he kept his eyes glued on the double doors with the hope of seeing his bride soon.
With much lull in the activity, the song "Here Comes The Bride" began playing ending the lull, the happy tune blaring throughout the church which sent Dipper's heart into a tailspin of beats with the anticipation of seeing the woman he will be spending the rest of his life with. The double doors were opened by the ushers with Pacifica's bridesmaids entering in a single file line carrying a copy of the bouquet that the bride has starting with her maid of honor Mabel. Behind her is Catherine, Pacifica's two friends, Candy, and lastly Grenda. The bridesmaids made their way down the aisle opposite to the Groomsman with a look being exchanged between Mabel and Bill.
The doors were opened once more as Pacifica and her father entered, the participants in the pews rising to their feet and turning to see the bride. Different whispers caught the bride's ears about how gorgeous her dress was, how Dipper was really a luck man, and a few thrown in there about how much the wedding must have cost to be brought together considering the elaborate design of Pacifica's dress and the layout of the church.
The two continued down the aisle as Pacifica looked up and spotted Dipper at the end with a smile on his face. He sent a wink in her direction as a blush covered Pacifica's face. Bill and Pacifica made to the end as Bill delicately handed Pacifica over to Dipper, the two exchanging smiles before turning to the priest.
"Who gives this woman away?" The priest questioned as Bill rose his hand.
"I do." Bill replied before taking a seat in the front pew and everyone taking their seats.
"Dear friends and family." The priest began. "We are gathered under the lord's vision today to celebrate the union of Dipper Pines and Pacifica Northwest. Throughout their time of knowing each other, they have seen the best of times and the worst of times, but they have persevered to meet at this point in time together to be joined as husband and wife. Now is there anyone here who believes that these two should not be joined in holy matrimony? Speak now or forever hold your peace."
Stepping out of the line of the groomsmen, Human! Bill turned towards the crowd, a stern look on his features with a dare for anyone to speak up and spend the rest of eternity in eternal damnation for ruining the ceremony.
"No one? Alright." The priest continued. "The bride and groom have written their own vows and will now exchange them."
Pacifica handed Mabel her bouquet as Mabel handed her her vows and Dipper was handed his vows by Soos with Dipper opting to read his vows first.
"Pacifica, what can I say?" Dipper began reading. "Out of every woman I have ever met, I can't say that either of them even compared to you. There is a certain charm about you, a certain glow, something I can't say about anyone I've ever met before. No matter how many bumps in the road we've hit, I've always found myself trying to figure out the mystery that was you and couldn't be happier that I finally deciphered the code that you kept around your heart. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you and have you as my wife."
"Your turn Pacifica." The priest voiced.
"Wow Dipper." Pacifica voiced with a small laugh, happy tears threatening to spill over. "We've been through a lot, even in our early days when you met me and I wasn't that great of person to you. I haven't met anyone like you before and every moment leading up to this, I couldn't contain my excitement of how much I was looking forward to spending my life with the only man who was able to see me for me, and not for what I was created to be. I'm happy we are leaving it all behind and moving forward with our lives. I love you and can't wait to start this journey with you."
"We're leaving it all behind." Dipper and Pacifica said in unison as they folded up their vows and caught their vision with the other's.
Whimpers and full on sobs were heard erupting around the church at the couple's vows.
"Too sweet if I must say so myself." The priest praised. "Now do you Pacifica Northwest take Dipper Pines to be your lawfully wedding husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and health, for richer and poorer, so long as you both shall live?"
"I do." Pacifica confirmed.
"Dipper Pines, do you take Pacifica Northwest to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer and poorer, so long as you both shall live?"
"Nothing will ever come before her and I do." Dipper confirmed.
"By the powers rested in me by the state of Oregon and under the lord's vision, I now pronounce you husband and wife!" The priest confirmed. "You may now kiss the bride."
Dipper and Pacifica stepped forward with Dipper parting Pacifica's veil and gently removing it from her face. He then took her in his arms with the two meeting the other's lips in a tender kiss to confirm their official union. Grenda, Candy, Pacifica's two friends, and Mabel were shedding happy tears while Catherine was on her phone checking her messages with the corner of her mouth rolled up.
"Congratulations Dipper and Pacifica and may this journey for the two of you lead you to a road of endless happiness." The priest expressed to the couple as they separated and faced the crowd as claps and cheers erupted around the church. Pacifica's father was sobbing the hardest out of everyone, happy that his daughter was beginning one of the best journeys in her life.
"Are you ready for this crazy journey called life?" Dipper questioned to his new bride.
"As long as I'm with you, I can't wait to see where it takes us." Pacifica replied as he pulled Dipper in for another kiss.
Three Years Later…..
With his rope loosely tied around his right shoulder and his '3' journal gripped tightly in his right hand, twenty three year old Dipper Pines trailed back his and Pacifica's abode, a medium sized house on the edge of the city that Pacifica's father helped them purchase, despite the couple's numerous protest of buying the house themselves. After many years of discovering and ridding the town of its supernatural elements, Dipper was now a successful monster hunter that was named one of Gravity Fall's best while Pacifica was a stay at home mom with their three year old daughter Patrice. Patrice, even at the age of one, was showing signs of being just like her father from the identifying of certain creatures in his journal to having toys that looked like the creatures in her father's journal, the Gremoblin being her favorite. However Patrice looked everything like her mother down to the long blonde hair.
Dipper walked through the door and set his journal and rope down on the table by the door and was immediately greeted by his daughter Patrice.
"Daddy, you're home!" Patrice happily squealed as she jumped in her father's arms. "Did you see a Gremoblin today?"
"Well, not today honey, but I know I will soon." Dipper happily replied as he pecked Patrice on the forehead, always being happy to see his family after a long day of monster hunting. "Where's your mom?"
"Right here." Pacifica's voice happily called out as she entered the living room with the dish towel in her hands to see her husband and daughter. "How was your day dear?"
"As long as I get to do what I love, it's never a dull moment." Dipper happily replied as he pecked Pacifica on the lips, which caused their daughter to giggle.
"Mommy, when daddy goes out to hunt monsters, can I go with him?" Patrice asked as she hugged tightly onto her father. "I really want to see a Gremoblin!"
Pacifica and Dipper turned to each other and back to Patrice.
"How about this." Dipper began as he set Patrice on her feet. "I would love it if both of my favorite girls were with me the next time I went. Doing what I love wouldn't be the same without doing it with the people I love most."
"Then we better get geared up as a giant vampire bat was spotted in the area." Pacifica stated with a look to Dipper that only he could identify.
"Then what are we waiting for, let's go!" Dipper happily expressed.
My apologies that this is late as I have spent the last 48 hours dealing with a bad fever borderline flu, but I am getting better and was able to bring you all this! But enough about that. With that happy ending, I have announcement of my own to make. Next year, July 9th of 2016 exactly, I will be tying the knot with my husband to be, thus getting the happy ending I have waited forever for! However, not to worry, I'll still be your wonderful author for as long as my life (and time) allows me to be. But if nothing else,
