A/N: Sorry for the late update, but last week during lunch I decided to make a change in the plot which affects the chapters I have so far. I will still try to update every week, but if I don't just bare with me...
Chapter Three
While Erica picks the lock to the back door, I take that moment to get up from the couch and make my way over to the formal dining room. There is no door that leads from living room to the formal dining room as well as the formal dining room to the kitchen. Just two large openings, facing the opening that leads to kitchen there is a small cabinet that Callie bought a few years ago at the flea market with my mother that she uses for our formal dining ware sitting on the left side. On the right side there is a small open space where we put our peppermint tree during the holidays. Currently it is wide open so I use that space for hiding.
Knowing Erica she will probably make this look like a home invasion gone wrong. Erica snaps me from my thoughts when I hear fully open the door and enter my house. I hug the wall tightly while I take my M99 out of my pocket as I wait for Erica to pass me seeing how the formal dining room is the first thing she will see when she enters the house, but things don't go my way when she turns to her right and exits the kitchen that will lead her to the hallway that goes to the laundry room, the basement and garage. I'm forced to leave my perfect hiding spot and move over towards the large opening that goes from the formal room to living dining. I'm hoping that she is chooses to walk down the hallway that will lead her to nothing because it will be easier for me to sneak up behind her and drug her, but luck is not on my side tonight.
When I peek my head out to see where Erica is, she catches by surprise almost as if she knew I right there, because when I stuck my head out, Erica punches me jaw causing me stumble over towards my left a little bit. I recover from her sucker punch in time to block another punch she plans on throwing my way. I block her fist with my left hand and somehow I manage to grab a hold of it. I keep a tight grip around her wrist while I try to stab her with my needle with my right hand. I come up empty handed because Erica somehow kicks my right hand and the needle goes flying out of my hands landing way out of reach in the formal dining room. When the needle is out of my hands she lifts up her leg again and presses up against my stomach before she pushes against it causing us to back away from each other.
My training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu kicks in and I just look over at Erica in a defensive stance waiting for her to come and attack me. Erica stands up straight for a moment before she just smirks and lunges at me. Her body is low to ground and when she makes it over towards me she tries to grab my waist in an attempt to being me to the ground. However her plan fails when I take a side step to my right and use her momentum against her. When Erica reaches me I'm able to grab her right arm before she can wrap it around my waist. I bring her right arm closer to my chest while I roll to the ground on my back. In the process of falling down to the floor I manage to crunch her legs and chest together. I open both of my legs and wrap them around her to keep her place. I squeeze my knees together to keep her from defending herself before I use the rest of my leg strength to flip her on her back while holding on to her right arm. When she is on her back as well I pull against her arm while extending my hips putting her in the very painful arm bar position. Usually you're not suppose to use a lot of force because you can break someone's arm, but the bitch is trying to kill me so I keep pulling until she lets out a loud scream as we both hear her arm snap in 4 different places. When I let go of her arm she falls to ground crying in pain. She is so focused on her arm, she makes it easy for me to grab the back of her shirt and pull her upwards so her back slams into the front of my body. I ball my right hand into a fist before I wrap it around neck. I place my left hand on the back of her head and I start to apply pressure on both carotid arteries and her jugular veins in her neck. Within five seconds Erica is out.
The sleeper hold, how I used to knock out my victims before M99. While Erica is passed out I waste no time in transporting her back to her house where I set up my kill room in her daughter's room. After Erica is proper strapped in the bed I go back downstairs and put the glove back where I found it before I log on to her computer, like a true non tech savvy person she has her username and password on a sticky note on the top right corner of her computer monitor. Using her credit card I purchase a one way ticket to India and then a one way bus ticket to Bhutan. Right after I complete my purchases is when I hear Erica start to scream for help upstairs.
I run upstairs as her screams start to get louder. I don't need her neighbors checking to make sure she's ok. "Sorry I didn't mean for you wake up here in the room by yourself," I say as I rush into her daughter's room. I don't close the door because I have plastic hanging from the ceiling and off the walls creating a room inside of a room. "Who knew that there was a lot of work in buying tickets to Bhutan." I say with a slight chirp and grin as I walk up towards her head on the left side.
"You really think you're going to get away with attacking a cop? The Seattle Police department will make sure you and you're family's life here is a living hell." Erica says as she tries to intimidate me.
It doesn't work as I tilt my head to the side and just smile at her. "Well, you just purchased a one way ticket to India and a one way ticket from India to Bhutan, a beautiful country with no extradition laws. Smart. Your police buddies with find your car parked at Seattle Tacoma International Airport and when they look at your bank statement they will see that you cleaned out both accounts. You will have literally disappeared over night."
"What makes you think I'm going to get on that plane?" Erica questions.
I don't say anything as I just look at her with a smile across my face.
"What are you going to do if I don't get on that plane?" Erica starts, "are you going to rape and kill me."
"Oh my God," I say as I laugh at her coldly. "What is it with you and rape? No one is raping anybody." I pause for a moment before I look down at her, "now killing on the other hand…" I trail off.
"So you're going to kill me if I don't get on that plane?"
I look off to the corner of the room in slight confusion. "I don't remember giving you this ultimatum of get on the plane or I'm going to kill you." I pause to look back down at her, "I'm just going to flat out kill you and make it look like you got on the plane. Unlike you I know how to cover tracks correctly."
"Why are you doing this?" Erica whines before she tries to work up some fake tears in an attempt to get me to feel sympathetic for her.
It doesn't work, "why did you do this to them?" I hiss before I violently point her head to the right side of the room where I have crime scene photos hanging on the wall.
"I didn't, it was Mike Falco…" Erica trails.
"No," I whisper while I shake my head at her. "A monster like you can't handle being tied down like that. I know what it feels like to have a spouse and child who constantly want something from you, and they never ask they just take it. Take, take, take, that's all they do…"
"I couldn't breathe…" Erica trails off.
I just give her a cold lifeless stare before I shake head disappointingly at her. "They always wanted something from me," Erica says when I don't respond and walk away from her. "I just wanted some peace and quiet and they never gave it to me." Erica continues to babble in the background while I tune her out as I run my right middle finger over my knife set I have placed on a table on the left wall by Erica's feet. Erica is still talking while I pick up my boning knife and look at it for a moment. After a quick debate in my head I put the boning knife back, and pick up my fillet knife. I quickly put that one back because I only use my fillet knife on pedophiles, they are the only criminals I don't stab in the chest anymore. I like to take my time and play with pedophiles before I kill them. After looking at the rest of knives I decide to use my standard cook knife which happens to one of favorite knives next to the fillet knife.
"Look at you with your little knife set over there." Erica says with disgust. "You sit here and judge me for being a monster when you are just the same."
"I'm not the same as you," I hiss as I walk up next to Erica. "I could never be like you." I put as much venom in my voice as possible. "I could never hurt or kill my family, like you." Before Erica can respond my knife penetrates her chest.
I let out a loud large sigh as I watch Erica die. As the life drains from Erica's eyes I feel my dark passenger return to his hiding place in the small dark corner of my mind. Once Erica is dead I go through my usual two hour ritual of cutting up her body and throwing it into the Pacific Ocean. I look at my watch and see that it is only 10:30; I have two in half hours before my curfew. I'm about to relax and enjoy this brisk evening, but a thought immediately grabs my attention. The M99 and the house might be a little messy after my fight with Erica. I didn't have the time to clean up because I knocked her the natural way.
The boat ride to my new dumping site is about an hour which isn't that bad, however, it would seem like every cop is out giving speeding tickets and there was a bad accident on I-5 causing it to close down completely so don't I get home until 12:45 am. The entire way home I'm slightly praying to whomever that Callie is still out with Mark, Addison and Derek. I feel slight relief when I open the garage door and see that the Tahoe is not there. When I enter the house I immediately go to the back door in the kitchen. I open the door and walk outside inspecting the area to make sure Erica didn't disturb anything. Once everything is in the clear I return inside and slowly walk the same path that Erica did when she was here to make sure that everything is in place. Lucky for me we didn't make a mess. After I see that nothing needs to be cleaned I enter the formal dining room and begin to search high and low for the needle. I spend a good ten minutes looking for that fucking needle and I can't find it anywhere. I'm standing in the doorway that leads from the living room to the dining room looking into the room while I scratch the back of my head and giving a loud heavy sigh at the same time. I look over to Callie's floor cabinet before I walk over towards it. I grab the right side of the cabinet and pull it slightly towards me. When the cabinet is far away from the wall I walk over towards the wall and look down at the floor. For the second time this evening I let out another sigh of relief when I see the needle hugging up against the wall. I reach down and pick it up before I push cabinet back up against the wall.
Once the cabinet is back in its original resting place I go to the kitchen and proceed to open the needle and pour the M99 down the drain. I run hot water to help flush down the M99 and for an extra measure I put one of Callie's garbage disposal deodorizer in the sink, so now the kitchen smells like lemony goodness. With the M99 gone I put the needle in the trash can in the kitchen, and to help hide the needle I collect trash from everywhere in the house and then take the trash to our large trash bins that are located in the garage.
When I return back into the house I go back into the kitchen and open the fridge to see what I can warm up for a late night snack. I take the container of the left over baked ziti and warm it up in the microwave. I know Callie told me to reheat it using the oven but all this work has made me work up quite the appetite and I can't wait that long for the oven to heat up and then heat up my food. I don't even bother to get out a plate as I eat the ziti straight from the container. As I take a bite from the container I let out a loud groan as I drop my fork into the container and put the container on the countertop behind me. I grab my right cheek and groan again when pain shoots from cheek.
I walk out of the kitchen and over towards the front door, where Callie made Teddy and I hang a large rectangle mirror over a long rectangle table that has flower, holiday, and birthday cards. I flip the light switch to turn on the light, and when I look at the mirror I see my right cheek extremely red, and swollen.
Calliope is going to kill me.
During the examination of my cheek I didn't hear the garage door go up, and I don't hear Callie until it's too late. "So Derek brought up a good point when we were at dinner, Arizona," Callie says as walks into the living room. "With both of us being surgeons what happens if you take the Tahoe in the morning but get called into surgery and can't pick up the kids? I mean they are young now, but when they get older they are not going to like being squished in the back of Range Rover. Derek and Meredith just got a GMC Yukon and I love it. It is just as big as the Tahoe and I can drive that while you drive the Tahoe, what…happened to your face?" Callie cuts off when she sees my cheek.
"Would you believe me if I said I ran into a door?" I question as Callie walks up to me and grabs my chin and moves my head so she can get a better look at my cheek.
Callie just gives me a knowing look, "does it hurt?"
"A little," I say before I hiss and twist my head out of Callie's grip when she tries to touch my cheek.
"Stop being a baby," Callie says in a stern voice before she grabs my chin again and looks at my cheek. She makes do a series of mouth movements before she speaks again. "It looks like you have a mild break in your jaw, but you need to go to the hospital to make sure." Callie says as she turns around and walks towards the garage door. Callie's tone leaves no room for argument so I just give a loud sigh before I follow her to the garage. We get into the Range Rover and drive to Seattle Mercy West Hospital. I guess Seattle Presbyterian would be too nice of her.
Seeing how I have broken jaw and Callie specializes in broken bones I figured she would have led me to an empty room and complete her examination of my jaw, but she doesn't. The only thing she does for me is get me an ice pack to help with the swelling of my cheek. We sit in the ER waiting room for well over an hour. During which Callie looks at GMC Yukon's on her phone while I just stare straight ahead into nothing.
"Dr. Robbins," a nurse says.
"I'll be right here when you get out." Callie says never looking up from phone. Tough love, she is so good when it comes to tough love.
For the next hour I answer questions, do the same mouth movements Callie made me do earlier, and then I get an x-ray of my jaw. Once all is said and done the doctor says I have a mild jaw break, and it is pain meds and soft foods for the next few days.
When I'm done Callie and I return home. She makes me take out the dogs before we both climb into bed and fall asleep.
I hear the sounds of the garage door closing as someone entering the house. I can tell right away that it's not Callie because when Callie enters the house she jingles her keys with a sigh before walking into the kitchen while reading the mail. This person on the other hand bypasses the kitchen and goes straight for the stairs and enters my room.
"Get up, Robbins," Teddy says as she walks over to the window and opens the blinds sending in the blinding morning sun. Even though my eyes are close and I squeeze them shut tighter and just let out a groan. "Yeah, yeah, you're tired and so am I after my last two days at work. We need to pick up the twins and meet everyone at Arena Sports, and we can't forget the dogs." Teddy says as she turns around to face me. "Come on, Arizona. Addison is going to rip me my 900th asshole if we are late to this rehearsal picnic." Teddy says as she slaps my back when she sees that I'm still sleeping.
I just give out a loud sigh as I set up in my bed and remove my blonde hair away from face.
"Christ, what happened to your face?" Teddy says when she sees my cheek for the first time today.
"One of my kills put up a fight last night and mildly broke my jaw." I say as I slowly get up from the bed and start to walk towards the bathroom.
"Do I want to ask what the other guy looks like?" Teddy questions.
"Does it matter, because she's dead." I say over my shoulder as I enter the bathroom. Before I close the bathroom door I see Teddy nod her head and shrugging her shoulders agreeing with my last statement.
When I get into the bathroom I turn on the shower and step away from it for a moment while I let the water heat up. While the water is heating up turn to the mirror and take a closer look at my cheek, which currently looks like paint by numbers. After a nice hot 15 minute shower, I takes me about 10 minutes to put on my makeup. It's a little on the hard side because I have to put a lot of it on to hide my bruise while not making me look like a clown. When I'm done you can still see some traces of my bruise, but it will have to do for now.
When I come out of the bathroom I see Teddy lying on my side of bed while watching T.V. By the looks of it she is on the verge of sleep. "Seriously," I say as I walk up to her.
"You have a really comfy bed," Teddy says with a sleepy voice.
"What happened to not being late?" I question.
"Maybe she'll tear into you instead of me for a change."
I decide to pull a rarely used tactic after Teddy's response because I know Addison will have no problem tearing into me which I don't want. And I know when Addison is done tearing into me she will pass the baton to Callie followed by the bridezilla known as Lexie. "You want to know how many times Callie has made me come on that exact spot?" I say pointing at the spot that Teddy is lying in.
Within seconds Teddy is standing on her feet walking towards the stairs. "Let's go Robbins," Teddy yells as the two of us go downstairs.
As we walk downstairs I have a grin on face. When we get downstairs we find both Hilton and Roxie sleeping on the couch but they both get up when they hear Teddy and I come downstairs. I let them out in the backyard to go to bathroom before we all go to the garage. Callie left me Tahoe so I open the garage door before I open the trunk door of the Tahoe. I get in the trunk and put up the dog barrier before I climb out while Roxie and Hilton climb into the trunk. Teddy grabs the portable dog bowls before climbing into the passenger seat while I get into the driver's seat and turn on the car.
Teddy and I drive 15 minutes outside of Seattle, to a beautiful gated community. Two left turns and three right turns later we pull up to very luxurious two story Santa Barbara style home. This beautiful home belongs to Benjamin and Hannah Moore, another set of fraternal twins that are in the same class as William and Jackie. Benjamin is one of William's closest friends and Hannah is Jackie's best friend.
"Beautiful area," Teddy says as she gets out of car and looks at the neighboring houses. "I should take Addison to this area because she really wants to raise our daughter in a house and not an apartment."
I just give her a small smile before the two of us walk to the front door. I ring the doorbell and Teddy and I wait for about 5 minutes before a mid size woman with messy light brown hair and brown eyes opens the door. She has dark circles under her eyes like she hasn't gone to sleep in over 24 hours.
"Hi Bridget, how are you this morning?" I say with my perfect fake Arizona Robbins cheer.
"I'm never listening to Peter ever again," Bridget says as she opens the door to let Teddy and I in. "15 kids with just the two of us was too much to handle."
"God," Teddy says under her breath.
I just look over towards her and nod my head agreeing with her.
We follow Bridget to the living room and three of us just look at the living room in shock as we see 10 kids run around the living room and backyard jumping and climbing on everything they can get too. I see Peter and what looks like Peter's brother chasing after 3 kids in backyard. The kids have toilet paper in their hands and are in the process of TPing the living room, kitchen and backyard.
"AUNT TEDDY!" two familiar voices yell as the twins stop what they are doing to run into Teddy's arms.
"My two favorite monsters," Teddy says as she bends down to pick them both up. I just watch as the twins shower Teddy with hugs and kisses while completely ignoring me.
"Oh, I see how it is," I say as I pretend be upset.
"We love you too, mommy" William says as he tries to reach over towards me so I can hold him.
"Nope," I say as I walk over to the left corner where the overnight bags are piled up.
"Mommy," William says as he giggles a little bit.
"No, you hurt my feelings little man." I walk over and pick up the bright green and bright pink bags that belong to my kids. When I turn around I see my son and daughter standing right behind me giving me their best sad look. "Hmm," I say as look over towards Teddy who grabs the bags from my hands. "I guess I can forgive you guys, but just this once." I say before they both come running over towards me. I pick up the twins and they both give me kiss, and after a quick goodbye to their friends we are in the car off to Arena Sports to join the others for nice fun filled afternoon with Mark and Lexie's families.
Our drive to Arena Sports, an indoor park and sports arena, is a 10 minute drive thanks to the 509. I see my Range Rover, Derek and Meredith's Yukon, along with Owen's GMC Sierra, Mark's Audi A3 and Lexie's Acura RDX sitting on one side of the parking lot so I park next to Owen's truck. When I turn off the car both Teddy and I get out car while twins stay in the back babbling away to each other. I attend to the twins while Teddy attends to the dogs in the back.
Arena Sports and a giant building that most intramural sports teams use to practice and play sports when the weather in Seattle is too much to handle, but this place also doubles as a giant indoor park that families can use if they want to have a nice warm picnic in the middle of Seattle's harsh winter. There are several indoor parks here in Seattle, but we like Arena sports because they allow dogs inside their building. You have to take your dogs outside if they need to go to the bathroom and have to pick up after them otherwise you won't be allowed to bring them back.
Just because Arena Sports allows dogs in their building doesn't mean that every breed is welcomed. The company has breed and weight restrictions and lucky for us Roxie and Hilton don't fall under those restrictions.
As we enter the building Jackie decides that she wants to be a diva, and forces Teddy to carry her inside the building. William on the other hand wants to be a big boy and hold one of the leashes for the dogs. I decide to give him Roxie's leash because Roxie is a little more trained that Hilton. Sometimes if you don't watch Hilton closely she will pull your arm so she go up to another dog, and I'm willing to bet that are dogs inside the building. William holds on tightly to Roxie's leash with his left hand while he holds my hand with his right hand.
After we enter the building we pause at the entrance for a few minutes to locate the others. Teddy is about to pull out her cell phone so she can call Addison, but the rich deep laugher from my wife gets my attention. "Ted," I say as I nod over to my right side. I see that Mark and others managed to get a large area in the far back corner. There is a lot space for the kids to run around and play, which Sofia, Zola and Bailey are currently doing. They also managed to get 4 picnic tables, which they lined up together to make one large table, and they also have two large grilling pits so it will be easy for us to make food.
As we walk up to the group we see the adults talking at the table, with Laura, Lexie's niece sitting on the far end of the table away from everybody being a typical teenager with her nose buried in her phone texting away to her friends. Sofia and Zola are playing monkey in the middle with Zola's little brother with a large orange nerf ball. When we get close enough is when I take Hilton and Roxie off their leash. Once they are free they make a beeline right for Sofia and Zola as they both join Bailey in the middle trying to get the ball from the girls. The minute the dogs were set free Jackie squirmed her way out of Teddy's arms, as she and her older brother chase after the dogs to play with the others.
When Teddy and I finally arrive to the table we say our 'hellos' to mainly Lexie's family. I guess Mark is only living Sloan that he knows about. Mark is an only child, and I guess when he was younger, I want to say around 3 or 4 years old, his father walked out on him and his mother. When Mark was in his sophomore year of college his mother was diagnosed with Adrenocortical Carcinoma. Adrenocortical Carcinoma is a very rare and very aggressive type of cancer that is found in adrenal gland. The only way to treat this type of cancer is by surgically removing the tumor, however, Mark's mother didn't meet the surgical requirements to remove this tumor and she had used all of her savings to send Mark to Harvard, where he was majoring in business, so she couldn't afford the radiation therapy and her work insurance couldn't cover the cost as well. I think you know were I'm going with this story, but I'll tell you anyways, 11 mouths later Mark's mother passed away in her sleep.
After Mrs. Sloan passed away, Mark changed his major to pre med, and became to the man whore that we've seen before Lexie got to him. I guess you could say he turned to sex to ease his pain, which is a lot better than some alternatives out there like drugs and alcohol.
Lexie's parents, Thatcher and Susan Grey, are here along with her older sister Molly and her husband Brad and their 14-year-old daughter, Laura, who hasn't looked up from her phone once since Teddy and I joined the table. Both Meredith and Derek are here, Meredith is obviously a bridesmaid for Lexie, and Derek is a groomsmen for Mark. I guess when Mark, Derek, Alex, Lexie, Meredith, Cristina and Addison were in that plane crash a few years ago they became best friends which is why Cristina and Owen are here. Cristina will be joining Meredith and Molly as a bridesmaid for Lexie, and Cristina just brought Owen along just like Callie and Addison did when they invited Teddy and me. I really don't think I need to tell you that Callie and Addison will be grooms…women?
Anyway Teddy and I say hello to everyone, and we both receive a pointed glare from Addison because we were one minute late…one minute…fucking hormones. To escape the wrath of Addison, Teddy and I chose to leave the table to play with the kids. Since we are taller and bigger than Sofia and Zola, I have no problem plucking the orange ball out of Sofia's hands and soon Teddy and I are the bullies as the kids run and jump on us trying to get their ball back.
The kids, Teddy and I quit playing with the orange ball and start to play Disney Tag. This is a form of freeze tag that the kids came up with a few years ago. When you get tagged you are frozen until you yell the name of Disney character, the name can only be used one during the whole game and when you successfully yell the name of an unused character you are unfrozen. We play two rounds before I decide to sit out on the third round. While the kids and Teddy play tag, with Zola being 'it' this time, I walk over towards the picnic table to see only the women sitting at the table. Laura is of course in her own world texting away, Molly tries to part the teen from her phone but it doesn't work. The men are over by the grill talking and smiling while Owen and Derek grill chicken and ribs.
I walk up behind Callie and grab her water bottle and take a few sips. Lexie's mother is currently telling an embarrassing story from Lexie and Molly's childhood. After I take a few a sips of water, I put the bottle back in front of Callie and walk back over to the fun. I guess during my break the kids got tired of playing Disney tag and now what to play hide and seek. They were waiting for me to get back before they started the first round. The kids voted that either Teddy or me should be 'it' first and after a quick game of rock, paper, scissors, Teddy is 'it' first. Teddy lowers herself to her knees while she lowers her head and puts her hands over her eyes and proceeds to count to 30 out loud to for us to hear.
When Teddy starts counting we all run to look for hiding spots. I make way over to the small wall barrier that allows people and employees to move from one end of the arena to the other. We never said that this area was off limits so I use it to my advantage at the moment. As I make way to the other side of the wall, Callie and the other women sitting at the table get my attention. Callie gives me a small loving smile before she says something to them. I know Callie, Addison and Meredith have said several times they love the way how Teddy and I always play with kids, so I guess that is what they are talking about right now. I smile back at Callie before I lower myself in my hiding spot.
When I get into my hiding spot I'm there for about 2 minutes before I feel my dark passenger start to stir a little. His presence confuses me a little bit because usually he remains quiet in his corner for a good week before he tells me that it's time to find a new victim.
Left…A low voice says in my right ear.
I look over to my left to see a mid-size figure standing in the 'employees only' doorway/hallway. They are standing at the other side of the arena right before this walkway forces you to make a left hand turn. There isn't a door for the 'employees only' hallway just a large opening that has employees only on the top of it. Judging from my distance and position on the ground this person is about 5'7 with long light brown hair that is pulled back into a ponytail. They are wearing a baggy black hoodie with the hood covering their face with a few strands of hair coming out. It could be a man, but it could a woman as well. Their hands are sitting nicely in the front pocket of the hoodie. When we make 'eye content,' I use quotations because I can't see their eyes, is when they turn around and walk down the employee hallway.
Follow them…
I listen to my dark passenger as I get up from my spot on the ground and start to walk towards the same hallway. When I get to the hallway I start to pick up my pace because I don't want to lose them. When I reach the end of the first hallway, it forces you to make a right hand turn down another longer hallway. The hallway is empty and has a few doors on both sides of the hallway. I'm about to look through each door but the third door on my left side gets my attention as is closes.
I walk over to the door and open it with some ease, I thought it was going to be locked. When I walk through the door I'm instantly outside in what has to be the staff parking lot. I stay planted in this spot for about 10 minutes as I take my time to scan the parking lot. The figure has to be around here somewhere. There was no way they could have tricked me…could they? I scan the area twice and come with nothing. I give a heavy sigh before my dark passenger decides to speak to me again.
Look down… I do.
When I look down there lying right next to pink Converse Chucks, which match perfectly with my pink sweater and dark blue jeans, is a blue sticky note. I think I have a slight addiction to Converse shoes because I own both low tops and high tops in every color. Converse Chucks are the only shoes I wear. If I could wear them to Lexie's wedding, I would.
Sorry, I got side tracked.
I bend down to pick up the sticky note, 'Joseph Allen Riley- Northwest Academy', is written on it. I look up from the note one last time, still nothing. I let out another sigh and put the sticky note in pocket before I turn and open the door I just came from. Well try to open the door because it seems to be locked at the moment. With door being locked I'm forced to walk all the way around to the front entrance.
Right as I walk through the front entrance I feel my butt vibrate. I'm walking back towards the table while I take my phone out from my back pocket. I look at the screen to see that Callie is calling me, however the call stops before I hit accept.
"Where were you?" Callie says to me.
She found me, which would explain why she hung up on me.
"I got lost going to the bathroom." I say with a smile.
"Food's ready," Callie says as she glances over towards her left.
I look to the left as well; I just drop my head and let out a puff air. Apparently the bathroom was right next to me the whole time. Note to self, come up with better lies around Calliope.
The Robbins Montgomery Sloan family is usually loud, but throw in the Grey family and whatever Yang and Owen are calling themselves, we are not only loud but we are obnoxious as well. Several families stop to look over at us a few times during our lunch. Once lunch is over with and we pick up our mess a little bit before we all decide to play a few rounds of capture the flag. Laura is still being an anti social teen and doesn't join in on the fun, and Addison 8 mouth pregnant and can't move around as much. The teams are the Grey's with the addition of Cristina and Owen vs. the Robbins-Montgomery-Sloan family, but since Sofia and Zola are inseparable Zola is on our team. By the end of the afternoon the Robbins-Montgomery-Sloan family wins the game of capture the flag 4 games to 3 games.
After our last round of capture the flag we pick up the rest of things and we call it an evening. We all say our goodbyes before we get into our cars and go our separate ways. Teddy, Sofia, Jackie, William and the dogs get into the Tahoe with me. While Callie and Addison get into the Range Rover. Derek gets into Mark's Audi and soon Callie is following Mark so the four of them go do whatever they have planned before the wedding tomorrow. Lexie's parents get into Lexie's Acura and drive back to their house, while Cristina, Lexie, Molly, Laura, Zola and Bailey get into Meredith's Yukon to go do whatever they have planned before the wedding with Lexie. And Owen just gets in his truck and drives home.
When we get back to the house we play three good rounds of Mario Party, in which William kicked our asses in all three rounds. After the third round the five of us get tried and call it night. Teddy and I put the kids to sleep before we go into our rooms to get changed into our pajamas. I end up changing in the closet and when I get out I see my three tiny human laying in my bed with the dogs. The three of them are giving me their best puppy eyes and it works because I all do is sigh as I join them in the bed. After I turn out the lights and kids get situated around me we all pass out with seconds of heads hitting the pillow.
It's around 8:40 in the morning when I wake up, a good 20 minutes before the alarm I know Callie has set on my phone. Somehow in the middle of the night I managed to scoot over towards the middle of the bed. Sofia is on the left side of the bed, my side, with her ice cold feet resting on the exposed skin on the small of my back. I'm laying on my right side with William curled up next to my chest. His head is resting on my right arm between my shoulder and elbow. I could tell from the pressure of his head that he was resting on my arm, but his drool pooling up on my arm leaves no doubt in my mind now. Jackie is lying on Callie's side of the sprawled out, just like her mama. With a smile on my face I look down towards my feet to see Roxie curled up into a ball sleeping next to Hilton, who is knocked out on her back with all four feet in the air. If Callie were lying in bed with us right now then this would truly be a perfect morning.
I don't really want to disturb the tiny humans so I stay in my place as my mind drifts back to the sticky note I found yesterday afternoon. The sticky note was still bright and had no footprints on it so it had to have been dropped from my mystery figure, but I have never heard anybody in the hospital mention a Joseph Allen Riley and I have never heard of Northwest Academy. A hooded figure along in a park watching kids play…maybe I stumbled upon a pedophile looking for his victim, Joseph Allen Riley…Northwest Academy sounds like a private school, and Callie has told me about all of the private schools within a 25 mile radius of Seattle and Northwest Academy was not one of them. Who is Joseph Allen Riley and why is he so important?
The sound of my alarm breaks me from thoughts as it screams its way through the master bedroom. The tiny humans stir for a second before they fall back a sleep. It looks like the alarm only woke up the dogs and me. I slip out of bed and let the tiny humans sleep a little bit longer while I walk and feed the dogs.
As I re-enter the house I hear the upstairs shower running meaning Teddy is awake and getting ready for the wedding. I feed the dogs before I start the long task of getting the kids to wake up and get ready. It takes me a good 10 minutes to fully wake the kids.
Once they are awake I decide to cut a corner and bathe all three of them in the master bathroom together, however, it's William's turn to be diva. He doesn't want to take a bath with sisters because we wants more room to play and he doesn't want to share his bubbles. Lucky for me right when it is bath time for the kids, Teddy gets out of the shower. Instead of putting on her dress she puts on a pair of sweat pants and t-shirt and plays with girls in the master bathroom while William and I go to his bathroom. Twenty minutes later we have three clean kids, and next starts the hassle of getting them into two dresses and a tuxedo. My tiny humans are just like every other tiny human out there and hate dressing up. It takes Teddy and I 40 whole minutes getting the tiny humans dressed. Callie should get some kind of award, because she gets the kids cleaned and dressed with breakfast on the table in under 60 minutes.
I take first watch of kids while Teddy finishes getting ready. While Teddy is upstairs I decide to make breakfast. It's nothing like Callie's breakfast, but I make pancakes with bacon. Right as I put food on the table Teddy comes down stairs in a red dress that goes an inch or two past her knees. The dress is somewhat sleeveless as it only wraps around her left shoulder. Her hair is down and wavy, and she has on a nice sliver bracelet and a pair of match sliver earrings. To round out her look she has on pair of cream color high heel shoes.
After we all eat breakfast and I clean the kitchen because I'm the only one left that hasn't changed, Teddy and I switch places, she watches the kids while I get ready. I take a quick shower and decide on wearing a nice blue dress that brings out the color in my eyes. I was going to wear dress the red dress Callie loves so much, but Teddy is wearing a red dress and I don't feel like being twins with her today. The dress barely passes my knees, and it has two thin shoulder straps. I have on a pair of black high heel shoes to go with the dress and the only piece of jewelry I have on is my wedding ring and my Valentine's Day necklace. My hair is down and wavy, I need a haircut because it is passed my shoulders at the moment. Callie loves my long hair, but long hair really isn't the best option when your serial killer. After I like how I look I join the others downstairs in the living room. The kids are little upset because they can't watch the ending to Scooby Doo, even though they have seen this episode a million times.
When everyone is in the Tahoe we end up getting to Palace Ballroom in the ten minutes thanks to I-5 south. As Teddy and I get the kids out of the car we see several other people from the hospital pull up and walk inside. William holds my right hand while Sofia holds my left hand, and Jackie holds Teddy's left hand. We enter the building and follow the signs to Mark and Lexie's wedding. Once we get into the room where the ceremony is being held we choose to sit on Mark's side, which is right side of the room. We manage to get a bench to ourselves that is somewhat close to the altar. Teddy sits on one end of bench near the wall, while I sit on the other end near the aisle. William is sitting next to me with Jackie in the middle and Sofia sitting between Jackie and Teddy.
This seating arrangement works for all of ten minutes before Jackie slides off the bench and walks over towards me. When she reaches me she proceeds turn and face William before her tiny hands reach up and push William towards the middle of bench where she was sitting. William lets out a whine before he starts to push back against his sister.
"I want to sit next to mommy," Jackie says as she tries to push against William harder.
"No," William says with a whine.
"Stop it, both of you." I say as I break them apart. Jackie starts to cry when William slides back to his original spot. "William scoot over."
William starts to pout, "No, I was here first."
"William Corbin," I whisper in a stern voice. William lets out a huff before he does what he told. Jackie is about to climb on to the bench but I stop her as I slide closer to William before I pick her up and put her on my left side. They both become quiet as they both get their wish of sitting next to me.
We wait for another five minutes before both the bridal and groom party make their way down the aisle. Well Mark enters firsts and escorts Mr. and Mrs. Grey to the sits before he takes his place at the altar. A few moments later Cristina and Addison are the first ones to come down the aisle. Addison and Teddy seem to be looking at each while Cristina and Owen seem to look at each other. Molly and Derek are next to come down the aisle. As Molly looks over towards family on the left side of the room and Derek looks around at both sides of room saying hi to a few people, I notice that a lot of older attendings are sitting on Mark's side while the younger attendings, residents, and interns are sitting on Lexie's side. Finally Meredith and Callie are the last to come down the aisle. Meredith looks straight ahead at Derek while Callie locks eyes on the kids and I.
Cristina, Molly and Meredith are wearing fuchsia strapless dresses that just come up to their knees with matching flowers. Addison and Callie are wearing black strapless dresses as well but their dresses go down to their feet so I can't see their shoes. Derek has on a tuxedo with a black long sleeve shirt and black vest to match Addison and Callie. Addison was clearly the designer behind Mark and his party's outfits. Zola and Bailey take the jobs as flower girl and ring barrier.
A few minutes later the music starts and everyone stands as Lexie comes down the aisle in a white Vera Wang wedding dress, which is also strapless. I don't know about you but I'm starting to see a theme here. Mark looks completely love stuck as Lexie walks towards him, and it almost looks like he is about to cry, which I have never seen him do before.
For the next 30 minutes we listen to the priest talk before we listen to Mark and Lexie exchange their vows. Once all is said and done, they kiss and soon everyone is the fifth floor for the reception.
The wedding reception is nothing special as well. We hear the usual speeches from Derek, Callie, Mark and Thatcher. The food and wine is amazing, and before I know I it everyone is on the dance floor dancing. Callie dances with Mark for two songs before she drags me on to the dance floor. The usual couples are dancing with one another, as well as the kids. Sofia and Zola dance together while Bailey, William and Jackie just run around acting crazy.
After about four fast songs the DJ slows things down by playing an acoustic version of 'Will you still love me tomorrow' by Amy Winehouse. Callie steps close to me closing the gap between as her hands slide around my chest and come to a stop on my back, her head drops and rests on my shoulder. I slide my hands around her waist. We sway to the beat of the music in our own world. Five years ago that would be the million dollar question, would Callie still love me tomorrow if she really knew about my hobby. Thanks to Dr. Robert Stark, the answer is yes. I'll always be mad that he attacked and almost killed my wife, but I'm happy at the same time because he helped open her eyes…
"Mommy…Mama…" Sofia trails.
"SOFIA!" Callie screams as she pushes away from me and rushes over towards our oldest daughter whose front body is completely covered in blood. "Are you hurt?" Callie questions while she visually and physically checks Sofia for any signs of injury.
"Its not mine, mama." Sofia says calmly.
Callie's eyes grow wide as she looks back towards me. When she looks back at me is when I realize the music has stopped and people have gather around us. "Whose is it?" question just as calmly, as I walk closer to Sofia.
"It belongs to lady and the little boy by the vending machine." Sofia says in her calm state, as she turns to look up at me.
I pause for moment as I study her blank face and completely lifeless eyes. "Show me." I say as I reach for her hand.
Together the two of us walk hand in hand as she leads me out of the room and down the hall to the vending machine area. There lying in a pool of blood is the body of a women and young boy. Both of their bodies completely cut up. The fingers have been cut off from the hands, the hands cut off from the wrists, the wrists from forearms, forearms from the elbows and elbows from shoulders. The same goes for the lower body. As I look at the lower body I can't help be sing the body part song that you learn when you're a child. Leg bone disconnected from the hip bone…As I sing the song of disconnected body parts I pause when I make to her head. I tilt my head to the side as I look at the women. The head being completely severed isn't what grabs my attention. It's what The Road Truck Killer did to the head that gets my attention. The lips, the nose, ears and tongue have been removed. As well as the eyelids, meaning the women's lifeless eyes are just starting straight up at the ceiling.
"Sloan?" Mark whispers from my right breaking me from my thoughts. I look over to a pale and speechless Mark. He puts his hands over his mouth before he drops to his knees and starts to cry. I go from looking at Mark to back at the body and upon closer inspection I see that he correct, the cut up woman in front of us is indeed Mark's oldest daughter.
Mark's oldest daughter and what assume is her son, Mark's grandson, found dead and cut up at Mark's wedding. Coincidence or message, better question, who's the message for? Mark? Is he the common denominator between all these killing around the United States?
