Chapter nine
Damn, Kakashi is a true blue silver haired person... I was hoping he dyed it or some sort of conspiracy like that. But at least it was really soft. Okay back to what you missed out...
Basically, Kakashi was surprisingly carried by Tazuna (who was really strong by the way but he is building a bridge so duh!) and he carried Kakashi's scrawny little scarecrow body over his shoulders back to his house which was like almost literally around the corner... and a few more steps out of the forest. Tsunami (Tazuna's daughter if no one remembers) laid out a bed roll for him and set him into it, surprisingly our clothes are all dry now from the short walk and so everyone went to sit in the kitchen for lunch while I skipped out, I wasn't hungry after all of my insides felt like they had been turned to pancakes and my throat is sore from the blood I spat up earlier, nothing is going to sooth that and besides... Who wants to eat a blood flavoured sandwich or whatever we were going to eat? (except vampires of course... wait... Do vampires exist in the ninja world? Well I guess if it has something to do with strength and blood then yes)
My hands instantly went around my neck and I shivered, remembering when Orochimaru bit Sasuke's neck in the anime, that's going to probably happen to me... Can I cry please?
"Something wrong Sasuke-kun?" Kakashi's voice drawled as I nearly squeaked in surprise but I did jump back slightly as Kakashi eye smiled and it was clear to see he was laughing silently.
"Nothing sensei... How are you feeling?" I asked, crawling back over to him and sitting cross legged.
"I've been better." He sighed, pain obvious in his features... Dammit, I'm definitely going soft.
"Hm, so much for trying to show off in front of your cute little genin squad." I huffed with a smirk as Kakashi's eye widened and he scoffed before my head whipped around to see Tsunami walking in.
"Are you all right sensei?" The woman asked.
"Yeah but I'll barely be able to move my body for a week." Kakashi said, sitting up before he stiffened and curled in pain and it was such a reaction for me to reach out but I retracted it as Tsunami was giving him a stern look, hands on hips.
"Then you should keep still for a while." She warned and Kakashi agreed, lying back down and as if on queue, Sakura, Naruto and Tazuna walked in.
"Oh, sensei is awake!" Naruto exclaimed with excitement but relief clear on his voice as Sakura came to kneel next to me next to Kakashi's bed.
"Geez, the sharingan is incredible but if it puts too much stress on the body, I guess you have to think before using it." Sakura said and Kakashi calmly apologised.
"Well we defeated that strong of a ninja this time. We should be safe for a while." Tazuna said, wiping at his neck with a towel and sounding rather proud of himself, as if he defeated the ninja himself and I scoffed... Maybe I really am turning into Sasuke...
"By the way, who was that masked kid?" Sakura asked, a hand to her chin in thought.
"I'll save us all a lot of time and speculation because I'm bored..." I began, I really wasn't in the mood for the slow process of figuring out Haku was blah, blah, blah... Okay, enough rambling, everyone is waiting for me to carry on. "His mask read Kirigakure, a hunter nin kind of like ANBU from our village but their purpose is to hunt down rogue nin and either kill them and leave no trace of the body behind because the body could contain secrets for example, Kakashi-sensei's sharingan or even my own eyes when I awaken the sharingan... All in all, long story made short, the masked kid isn't a real hunter nin since he took the body with him and all he would have needed was a head to prove he was dead, blah, blah, blah, long story made short, Zabuza was put into a temporary dead state and should be out for a week or so too... Any questioned?"
"Wow Sasuke-kun, I never knew you were so smart, where did you learn all of this?" Sakura squealed, hugging her arms to her chest as I rolled my eyes. But I wasn't watching her, I was watching Kakashi's eye and oh shit was I in trouble if that man suddenly corners me... Dammit why can't I be patient and act stupid for once? Okay, it could have been partially the fact I took his thunder from him, I remember he looked rather detective like as he explained all of this stuff I just did in one minute flat.
"What are you talking about?" Tazuna asked with panic as Kakashi sat up with a little more ease this time.
"Like Sasuke explained, Zabuza is most likely still alive by the evidence presented to us." Kakashi explained as Naruto yelled out and Sakura's eyes widened.
"But sensei, you checked his pulse yourself and said he was dead!" Sakura said with some panic.
"Yeah I did but like Sasuke said in his explanation, Zabuza was just in a temporary state, mimicking death. The nin used a weapon called a senbon and unless it hits a vital organ, it has a low probability of killing your opponent. It's an item used even by doctors in acupuncture therapy. Hunter nins know about the body's structure thoroughly and so putting a person into a temporary metabolic suspension is probably easy for them. Everything Sasuke and I have explained point out that the nin didn't intend to kill Zabuza but save him." Kakashi explained, the atmosphere was tight.
"So then... We get to train?" I asked, almost like an excited puppy as Kakashi eye smiled at me, I noted he also looked at Naruto who was grinning like he had gas and a fist curled up in front of him, wow, talk about killer children excited to kill... But I owe the bastard for turning my insides into pancakes, I couldn't exactly say I wasn't excited too.
"But Sensei, you can barely move? How can you train us in your current condition? Besides, what's a little training going to do if not even you, a jonin with the sharingan, could beat him?" Sakura said, a fluster building in her cheeks.
"Sakura... Who saved me while I was struggling? You guys are growing rapidly. Especially you, Naruto, you've improved the most." Kakashi eye smiled at the blonde who gave a small smile, not used to receiving such a straight forwards praise and it made me sober a little... Ignoring Naruto's cocky come back I was swallowed in my musing again.
That last fight showed me how little I could truly change and Kakashi was catching on too quickly for my liking but it was fine... Now that boring explanations were over, it would be training for the rest of the week and if I remember correctly, Naruto is normally with me training or Sakura is hovering around me since she perfects this exercise so it leaves Kakashi little to no time privately with me and... I grinned evilly... I can outrun the bastard for now!
"Look! It's ..." Shit, I nearly said the kid's name before we were even told it. "A cute little depressed kid like myself." I said with a wave as Inari just glared at us.
"Who the hell are you?" Naruto asked, I wonder what we were talking about beforehand but it didn't seem to matter anymore...
"Oh Inari! Where were you?" Tazuna asked as the kid ran to his grandfather and hugged him, welcoming him back as his mother told him to introduce himself to us... There was that glare again, God, if looks could kill we would have been dead, I mean seriously, it reminded me of that weird movie where the kid keeps whispering creepily 'I see dead people' kind of glare.
"Mom, they're going to die. There's no way you can win against Gatou." See, SEE! I told you, it's the same damn kid in this weird alternate universe thingy! But, it was times like these when Naruto was like my own personal slave, shouting things I would have said (or like to of said if my old society wasn't such a bore).
"What'd you say brat?! Hey, listen up! I am a superhero who will one day become an incredible ninja called the Hokage! I don't know this Gatou guy, but he's nothing against me!" Naruto said, standing heroically with a fist raised... Okay, maybe he doesn't say exactly what I usually want to say but it sure is close without the cocky 'I'm awesome' speech and wanting to become Hokage stuff... It really is quite ironic how much the 'author' of this show makes Naruto declare this all of the time and such and he actually does become a hero and stuff...
"'Hero'? What, are you stupid?"
'That's what I would like to know.'
"There's no such thing." Inari said in a rather dead voice, okay, this kid seriously was beginning to creep me out for real... Why do you have to hold him back Sakura, kill the undead spawn Naruto! "If you don't want to die, you should leave." Inari said, already leaving, saying he was going to watch the ocean.
"Sorry about that." Tazuna said.
"Meh, it's no problem." I said with a carefree wave while holding down the urge to destroy undead spawn... Seriously, we all saw this sad shadowed kid in the manga and anime... This was just like a horror movie in virtual reality.
"Sasuke, I'd like to speak with you for a second."
"Hm?" I asked before noticing everyone had left... Leaving me with Kakashi! Oh shitballs! I turned very slowly to see Kakashi sitting patiently in bed while my inner instinct was saying 'RUN YOU IDIOT' and 'GET THE HELL OUT NOW! DANGER! DANGER! DANGER!' "Something you need Sensei?" I asked, trying to keep my voice cool calm and collected.
"Have a look around and see if you can find me some crutches will you?" He asked with an 'innocent' eye smile. Those eye smiles could never be innocent... So not only do we now have demon spawn named Inari but it seemed I had my own hound of Hell named Kakashi... He was up to something. I got up with narrowed eyes and slowly walked to the doorway. "Oh and Sasuke..." He called, I jumped nearly letting out an 'Eep' which so isn't Sasuke-like.
"Yes... Sensei?" I asked, looking over my shoulder and swallowed as a hard cold onyx eye was fixated upon me... Shit, I'm in such deep trouble.
"I'm on to you." He said dangerously and this time I did eep and I ran through the house, closing myself in the bathroom as the door slammed shut.
"Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shitballs man!" I said in a harsh whisper as I began to pace the bathroom... which kind of was redundant since it must have looked like I was going in a circle and... BACK TO THE MATTER AT HAND HERE WOMAN! Uh... I MEAN MAN! "I'm such an impatient idiot." I muttered to myself as I rubbed my eyes with the heels of my palms.
Okay, new plan... Kakashi wasn't as dumb as I was hoping which should have been a clear sign to me in the beginning, he's a damn genius not an anime character anymore that I can just manipulate to my fangirlish dreams... Yes, I'm a fan of Kakashi... And Itachi... And Madara BUT I can't let it get that far in this universe. Back to the point at hand, all this supposed 'shit' for this universe had began back during the warring states era with Madara and Hashirama however I was placed in this time so it's obvious I have to do something now so I had to work with what I had.
Obito/Tobi/'Madara' is alive, Kakashi's old teammate, an Uchiha who has the other eye to Kakashi so I think it may be obvious that I'll have to tell him sometime, maybe even Naruto and Jiraiya too... Hell, all of the rookies and I'll have to find Sai but that could wait. Danzo needs to go down, he doesn't appear back until Shippuden so that will also have to wait.
Okay, after this mission there's three months until the exams. Problem number one, Orochimaru, the vampire Michael Jackson of the series. There's no way in hell no amount of training in three months will make me able to fight him in the exams so I'll stick to insults and fighting until Naruto shows up and we'll tag team the shit out of him. So goal number one, make a deeper connection (don't take it in that way you stupid SasuNaru fangirls, that is NOT what I mean!) and see if I can get any use out of Sakura, make her stronger... So... Get her to train with me which will make Naruto want to train with us which equals a stronger team!
Okay, one idea so far...
"Hey, you've been in there for like ever Sasuke!" Naruto banged on the bathroom door and I growled.
"Dammit dobe, just go pee in the ocean. I'm busy!" I said back.
"Well hurry up! It's a number two!" Naruto yelled back and I sighed... Obviously the bathroom wasn't the best thinking spot for me. "Besides, you're supposed to be finding Sensei his crutches!"
"Alright, alright." I said, opening the door and I barely stepped out of the bathroom before the door hit me on the way out... Ironic really. "So crutches..."
"Ah, do you need something Sasuke-kun?" I looked up to see, what was her name again? Oh right, Tsunami, like that really cool yet irritating song and... oh no, now it's stuck in my head.
"Actually, I'm looking for some crutches for Kakashi? Do you have any?" I asked and she smiled, waving for me to follow as I bobbed my head to the imaginary music in my brain... I really should go music hunting some time. I followed her into a room, basic, with a bed, a wardrobe, bed side tables and a desk full of papers and plans as I let my eyes look over them.
"Don't mind the mess, my father is always working on something new all the time." Tsunami explained as she was digging in the wardrobe... I got to thinking again, this mission would have to go the way it did before, it was important for us and for Naruto's nindo, his ninja way, also, perhaps it's better for Zabuza and Haku to finally leave all of their pain behind, I'm not planning for them to get reanimated lie last time. "Here you go, tell that man to take it easy will you? You shinobi aren't super humans you know." She scolded as I took the crutches from her with a smile.
"Thank you and I will... Sensei's always like this." I said as I turned back and walked back to Kakashi's room where he was still lying down but was awake as I set the crutches down next to his bed and helped him to sit up... I'm such a nice person.
"I'm curious Sasuke-kun." Kakashi began as I looked up at him... I wasn't so nervous anymore knowing I'd have to tell him sometime.
"About what?" I asked as I stood and helped him to stand up as I waited patiently for the pain on his face to disappear.
"How did you know so much about hunter nin?" Kakashi asked as I began to mentally ask my brain for some sort of rational answer.
"Itachi was in ANBU." I said and Kakashi hummed... Okay, more of an answer. "I snuck into his room one night and found an interesting book that I read and it was about hunter nin."
"You know, Itachi was in my squad when he first joined ANBU... He didn't seem like the type to take his work home with him." Kakashi said as he got the crutches comfortable under his arms and tested them. I blinked, I didn't know that, not many people did.
"Maybe you just didn't know Itachi that well." I said back defensively and Kakashi seemed to sigh silently with guilt? Was that guilt in his one visible eye?
"Perhaps I didn't... Why don't you go and find Naruto and Sakura so we can get to that training you seemed so happy about earlier?" Kakashi asked with an eye smile but it seemed strained... After these short month of knowing Kakashi, you tend to learn people's quirks.
"You know sensei..." I began, putting my hands in my pockets as he opened his eye. "You don't always have to hold up a happy facade for us, we know the world isn't full of bunnies and butterflies... Well Sakura might... But Naruto and I know the struggles, don't hold it all in." I said with a smile, hearing Naruto somewhere through the house and I felt a smile tug at my lips... Kakashi had looked pleasantly surprised and the cloud that had settled over him over the topic seemed to lift from my words... Yeah, I'm an awesome person, I'm so going to heaven after this!
XXXXXXXXXX
Training.
Yeah... Harder than I thought. I'm not as super special awesome as I thought. I already fell on my head once like Naruto and there's a big ass lump there now, sensei left us to our own devices and Sakura is just perfecting her technique now... Inside I'm a girl, girls have almost perfect chakra control so what's wrong with me?! Maybe chakra doesn't like me anymore because I'm a hermaphrodite... Okay not quite but you know what I mean!
"I'm heading back now." Sakura said as she stood up, dusted herself off and started walking back... I was lying on the cool forest floor like a star fish, too tired to call out for her to get tips like Naruto and he won't tell me, I can remember that from the anime.
"Ah, screw this." I said, standing up tiredly, my stupid muscles were shaking even as I jumped up onto a branch and sat down, digging the kunai into the tree trunk as Naruto squinted up at me.
"What are you doing?" Naruto asked.
"Probably something stupid." I said as I bent my knees and focused chakra to my feet as they stuck to the tree and I leaned forwards, dangling from my feet like Kakashi did earlier as I scowled... Dammit, this was hard! My chakra let go as I flipped and landed on my feet, glaring up at the tree once again.
"What did you do?" Naruto asked.
"Well... I was thinking I could get a general idea of when I used to much chakra and when I use too little by hanging from my chakra and maybe get an idea of how much I should use. You can try it too, it's actually quite a head rush and fun." I smiled at Naruto who grinned back.
"I never knew you liked doing anything fun?" Naruto said as he threw the kunai into the ground and stretched.
"Yes well, I like to every now and again, don't tell anyone." I said to him as he jumped up to a tree branch and began doing what I did earlier.
"Hah, like anyone would believe the Uchiha-teme would do anything for 'fun'." Naruto chuckled as he took a deep breath and did what I did earlier and hung from his feet and he blinked. "It's actually not that hard..." He said.
"See, fun." I said and he laughed, his chakra letting go as he also landed in a flip.
"Huh? What happened between the academy and becoming a genin teme?" Naruto asked and I huffed with amusement as I looked at him.
"I saw more to life than what I thought there was... Ready to do this again dobe?" I asked and Naruto grinned picking up his kunai as I retrieved one out of my pouch and we crouched slightly, eyeing our trees.
"You bet teme!"
