Chapter 19
#$%%&&^(*
Savannah was back in her New York apartment, in her bed that she loved. It was so soft and comfortable. She could sleep in it for days. Sleeping wasn't on the agenda tonight though. It was something much, much, better.
"Fuck, ah, ah, ah!" Savannah moaned, her head falling back into the pillows as her fingers gripped the light yellow sheets.
She was in pure ecstasy. She'd come home and couldn't wait to see Juice. He hadn't taken long to come over, and it wasn't much longer until they made it to the bedroom. She could feel his tongue swirling around her clit. Fuck, he knew how to use that mouth of his. "JC, fuck . . . oh, god. Ah, fuck!" She cried out, getting closer to her climax.
As if wanting to torture her, he stopped. Before she could question him, his head popped up from under the sheet, his teasing grin in place. "Babe, you're gonna wake up the whole entire floor." He chuckled, though he wasn't really upset. He loved when she screamed his name, he just didn't feel like having security drag him out if someone complained.
Savannah didn't seem to care either. A whine left her throat as her hands pushed his shoulders back. She wanted him to get back to work. "Sh-shut up, Ortiz. Get back down there." She demanded, pushing at him again.
He just chuckled, shaking his head as he went back under. "Whatever you say, babe."
Her body jerked up when he returned his tongue back to where it was. A strained gasp left her mouth, her hands grabbing back onto the sheet. Biting her lip, she tried her best to keep the volume lower this time. Feeling him insert two fingers made that so much harder as a cry left her lips. "Juice, please!" She begged, her hips moving with his fingers.
Her orgasm hit her hard, a loud cry leaving her mouth as her head fell back, her back arching. Her legs were shaking, squeezing his head as he went full force sucking against the little nub. Once she was done, her body went limp on the bed. As she caught her breath, a tired smile curled onto her mouth as she looked down. She was expecting Juice to pop up, but instead it was head of blonde hair. What was once the outline of Juice's bulky muscular shape, was now different. It was long and lean.
"Knew I still had it, Shorty." It was Kozik.
Savannah couldn't help but fly up, a scream leaving her lips.
"Noo!" Savannah screamed as she bolted up right in her bed.
Breathing hard as she looked around the dark room, she realized that she was home, in her old room back in Charming. It had just been a dream. Running a hand through her dark hair, she was able to catch her breath again. What the fuck had that been? Since when did she have dreams like that? Being back in Charming was messing with her head, or maybe it was Juice himself that was doing that.
She was fated to be an old lady, she'd known that since she was a teenager. Her ma had been training her for it even longer than that. Maybe if things had gone differently, and she hadn't gone to college, she'd still be fooling around with Kozik. She'd be giving into his whispered suggestions that were only voiced when they were alone, sweaty and breathless.
But the fact was, she did go to college, and she did meet Juice. She liked Juice a lot, the only fault he had was that he wasn't a Son like Kozik was. Dropping her head into her hands, she didn't know what the hell she was going to do. She had feelings for Juice, something she'd never had for Kozik. It was just lust between them, she knew that. He gave her something no one else in this town would. And she gave him her virginity like an idiot.
Lust could only take you so far.
So that left the question of what Juice and she had. It was more than lust, she knew that. They'd gotten to know each other. They were friends and cared about the other. Was that all they were though? Had that night in the garage just been getting rid of the sexual tension? If her dreams were anything to go by, she'd say no. She suddenly couldn't wait to get back so she and Juice could figure this out.
This break couldn't be over fast enough.
$^%&^*&
Juice had taken to hiding out in his old room the past two weeks. He'd gone home, like Savannah had suggested he'd do. He hadn't seen his family in a few years now, and it was about time he went home to visit. If he was being honest, he was excited to see his ma and sister. Only, that excitement hadn't lasted long.
Upon coming home, he'd found out that his ma was still with the douche she'd been with when he lived there before. Hell, she even married him. That wasn't the only wedding he'd missed though. His sister, Sophia, had gotten married too. He'd gotten the invitation in the mail, but he hadn't been able to go because of work.
He'd briefly met the guy a couple years ago when she came back from college once. She'd brought the guy with her. Juice hadn't liked him, but he'd charmed both Soph and their mother with his smile and manners. Juice could tell he was a douche, just like his step dad was, and he'd been right. The asshole had taken Sophia away from him.
He claimed Juice was a bad seed, though Juice didn't help himself there with all the petty thief charges and even an assault charge. He convinced Sophia they should move far away and that she drop contact with him. That hurt more than he'd like to admit. Sophia had always been his hero, and then she left him on his own with their step-monster of a father and their mother.
She wasn't even that much of a mother. She never cared to check if he was home or not. She never cared how he was doing in school. The bitch only gave a shit when he brought cops to her door, and it wasn't even because she was worried about him. Luke, his step dad, had convinced her that he was bad news too. When Juice brought up the idea of going to college, everyone had been all for it. Not because they wanted better for him, but because that meant he'd be gone.
When he'd come home for break, to say his mother was less than happy to see him would have been an understatement. She wasn't going to send him away, thank god, but that didn't mean she hugged him and was happy to have him here.
As he sat in his bed now, it felt like old times. He wasn't the man who survived living in his car and working two jobs while going to school. He was the little boy who got scolded for swearing at his dad. The ass had been talking down to his ma again, and he couldn't keep his mouth shut this time. He told him off, and like a little boy, he was sent to his room with a pop to his cheek.
He was tempted to call Savannah, he liked hearing her voice, but decided against it. When he last talked to her, she sounded happy. She was where she belonged, and it was obvious. They threw her a party when she got back, he got dirty looks and sent to his room. So, calling Savannah was out of the question.
"Juan Carlos, you get your ass down here and clean this mess!" He heard his mother yell up.
Groaning, he pulled himself up from his bed and dragged his feet to the door. He hated this, hated this place. He remembered now exactly why he didn't want to come back before. Walking downstairs of the small home, he saw the mess she was referring to. It was Luke's mess. Beer cans laid scattered all over the coffee table. His clothes were left on the floor, and his rancid smelling boots were left in front of the pint sized TV.
This wasn't even his crap, yet she was making him clean it. It wasn't his fault Luke was a drunk and a slob. If he said no, he'd just get another slap from his mother. Nothing he wasn't used to, she'd always spanked him when he was kid. She was a tough love kind of mom, until she met Luke and then she was just cruel. She was weak. Luke would walk all over her. If it came down to it though, she'd choose him over Juice any day.
Bitterly, Juice knew that already happened. He'd gone to Juvie for six months because she chose Luke over him. As he picked up the cans and bottles, he tried not to think of that. It was in the past, and it needed to stay there. She was his mother, he couldn't hold it against her. She was scared and weak, he just had to remember that. He had to love her no matter what because if he didn't; he had no one else.
If he survived another week of this, he'd only be so lucky.
#%$^%$%
Once he got the chance, Juice got the hell out of that house. He found himself going down the familiar streets of Queens to his favorite pizza place. He'd been sitting in his usual booth when someone slid into the spot across from him. Looking up from the straw wrapper he'd been playing with, he smile warmly at the sight of his sister with her long jet black hair and dark skin that mirrored his own.
He'd known that she'd come to see him when he called. He wasn't even sure why he did; but he was glad he'd went against his judgment and dialed before he could hang up. "Wasn't sure you'd show, Soph."
The last couple times he'd tried to meet up with her, she'd stood him up. He knew it was because she had her own family, or was trying to. He wasn't exactly sure what was going on. Being gone for about four years really kept him out of the loop. It didn't matter to him though, she was here now.
Sophia reached across the table, grabbing his chin to get a better look at him. She knew he was staying with their ma and Luke, and that was asking for trouble. "He hit you?" Juice looked into her eyes, not wanting to talk about how his last two weeks had been. Sophia lived there once, she knew how much of a hell it was for him. "You hit him back?" She asked again, not dropping the subject.
Juice couldn't help but crack a grin. Had he hit Luke back? He wished like hell he could have, but it wouldn't have done him any good. He already had a couple strikes against him, one being assault, he couldn't afford another one. "You know if I did, he could have called it in and I'd be in the slammer for assault. I've got a record, Soph, they'd send me away." He said, pulling his chin out of her hold. "I'm a violent criminal with 'antisocial tendencies'."
Sighing, his sister didn't know what to tell him. She knew he wouldn't listen to her when it came to their step father, but there was nothing she could say or do to change his mind. "How's school been? How's the big Apple?" She asked, changing the subject. She knew Luke was the last thing Juice wanted to talk about. "You eating enough?"
Juice knew she'd ask eventually. Unlike his ma, Sophia actually cared about how he was doing and if he was okay. She'd ask the real questions, not just scowl and mutter about how much of an inconvenience he was. Sophia would want to know if he was eating enough, living somewhere that wasn't gonna get him killed. He scoffed bitterly at the thought. He was safer in his car than in his own home. Talk about irony.
Scratching his head, he kept his eyes on his drink. What did he tell her? That he was sleeping in his car, besides the occasional times he found some girl to take him home for a good time? He used sex as a way for a bed for the night. He was beyond exhausted from keeping Mel satisfied, working his two jobs, and going to school. Nah, he couldn't tell her any of that. She'd just worry and try to help.
He was turning twenty four in just two months, he wasn't a little kid who needed his big sister to save him. He'd survived this long without her. Deep down, he knew it wasn't really about that though. He didn't want her to look at him with pity. Little brother Juan Carlos needs help again. He screwed up and big sister needs to bust him out.
There was also the fact that if she helped him, it'd be obvious they'd been in contact over the years, something her husband had no idea about. He would shit a brick if he thought Juice was gonna drag Sophia down. He was the trouble maker, and if she kept saving him she'd lose everything. It'd all be because of him, that was what the jackass told him. So that left him with one choice. Sugarcoat it.
"Yeah, uh, I'm doing good in mechanics and English. I, uh, I took a computer class the last couple semesters, I'm really good at it. Better than the teacher, I think." He said, smiling weakly when he told her about the computer's class. "Startin' to think I should change my major."
He wasn't lying about that one. He really was doing great in that class, and it had to be his favorite one. Mechanic's was his major, sure, but he'd always been a computer geek. Sophia knew that before he did. She had encouraged him to take it when he was first thinking of applying, but he'd gone with mechanics.
Fixing cars was cooler, he'd thought. That would be the life for him, working in a garage fixing cars. Anything to do with computers was boring and lame. Now that he actually took the class, that wasn't the case. "I'm glad you finally figured out I was right, Juan. I knew you were always amazing with a computer." She smiled, squeezing his hand encouragingly.
Of course, he was leaving out the part where fixing computers wasn't exactly where he excelled. Sure, he was great at that, but that wasn't the part he passed in flying colors in. It was hacking. He could hack into anything, or at least a good amount of things. That wasn't what he planned on telling her though.
He stared at their hands for a long time, as if trying to figure out something. Sophia had always been there for him when he needed her. Every time Luke came at him, she was the one to find him when he ran. This diner was their meeting spot, had been ever since he got a bike and could make it this far from the house.
Sophia knew him like the back of her hand, even if he'd like to think differently. She could see there was something else bothering him though. "You callin' me tonight wasn't just about Luke and ma, was it? What's going on? You leave something out about school or something?" She asked, tugging on his hand to get his attention.
Looking over, did he really want to tell Sophia about Sav, or god forbid, Mel? Savannah would be the easier of the two to explain. If he had to explain Mel, he'd have to admit how bad off he was and he wasn't ready for her to know that. He didn't want her to think she had to help him, he'd lasted this long on his own, he could do it without her. And he really didn't want to have to admit to anyone exactly what the older redhead was to him because it made a part of him uncomfortable.
"It's nothing serious, I swear. I just . . . there's this girl in my mechanic's class. We hooked up before break started and now I don't know how, you know, I'm suppose to act when we get back. I really like her, Soph." He confessed quietly. "I've never done this before. I never thought that- well you know."
He meant it too. After getting to really know Savannah, he found that he did like her a lot more than just how good she felt around his dick. Not that he'd tell Sophia that part, but he knew she'd get the picture. Looking over, he saw his sister giving him a strange look. He squirmed under the intensity of it. "You really do like this girl. Well, tell me about her." She certainly wasn't asking. "Maybe I can offer some sisterly advice."
Juice smiled lopsidedly thinking about Savannah Teller. Twisting his straw wrapper around, he thought of her dark hair, how he liked to brush it behind her ear so he could see her face. He thought about her laugh, though most of the time she was laughing at something he had said or done. He thought about how she kicked his ass in class. He thought about how much he really did miss her and how much he sounded like a whipped little boy.
"She lives in Cali. Place called Charming. She just started this year, she's, uh, she's nineteen. Knows her way around a car." Juice started to explain, his smile unknowingly growing the more he thought about her.
Sophia watched her little brother talk about this girl who'd caught his eye. She'd seen that look before and knew this was more than just a hook up to him. He really liked this girl. "My advice? Do everything you can to keep this, baby brother. She sounds really good for you." She said, squeezing his hand supportively.
Juice tensed, seeing the flash of something in his sister's eyes. Good for him, she meant fix him because there was something wrong. That was her husband talking. He thought Juice was a problem, someone Sophia needed to stay away from. He knew deep down she didn't mean it like that, but just the thought that she did? It hurt.
Pulling away from his sister, he knew the moment was over. He'd have to get home soon anyway before their ma locked him out for the night. "I . . . . thanks for coming. I gotta get back before ma locks me out again. I'll talk to you some other time, Soph." He said, slapping down some cash for his drink as he got up.
Giving him a pleading look, Sophia didn't want him to leave yet. This was the first time she'd seen him in four years. She didn't want it to be over so soon. "Juan, wait! You don't have to go so soon. We-we can talk about something else. This girl, your classes, your graduation next summer." She listed, just trying to find one thing to keep him there. "Do you even know what you're gonna do after college? What job you'll get?"
He paused where he stood, wanting to do nothing more than stay, but he didn't want her to judge him if he did. She was the only one in his corner, and he didn't know what he'd do if that changed. If she knew the truth about everything, he'd lose her. If she knew about the weed dealing, the sleeping around, Mel, and god forbid the other things he'd been doing for cash; she'd be out of his life. She was asking some important questions though. His time at school was almost done, and he still didn't have a plan. Not acknowledging his sister with an answer, he just fixed his sweatshirt and hurried out of the diner.
This night was just getting better and better.
