Chapter 29

Juice and Savannah sat at opposite ends of the couch, leaned back into the cushions. She'd just finished telling him about the club, what she could tell him at least. He laid back, a stunned expression on his face. "You weren't kiddin' about being stuck in the 50's, were you? Shit, that's . . . kinda cool but insane too." He said, a ghost of a smile passing his face before he looked over at her.

Savannah couldn't help the laugh coming from her lips. She'd just told him she grew up with a biker family and that was the first thing he said. Only Juice, she thought.

Watching the fascination on his face both worried and amused her. The club life wasn't something she saw for Juice, or something she wanted for him. Sure, when things were calm it was great. The parties, the family, it was amazing and something she knew Juice would love to have from what she knew about his life.

It was the times when things weren't so calm she knew wouldn't sit well with him. She hadn't told him about any of that. It was stuff he didn't need to know, or stuff she couldn't tell him. The fact one of her brothers was now in prison from something, probably illegal. The lock downs she'd had to endure growing up, the funerals she'd had to attend over the years, it wasn't something to boast about.

"I mean, don't get me wrong, sometimes it can get . . . really chaotic, but it's not all bad. My ma always runs the fundraisers, or at least donates a lot to the ones she doesn't. She liked being involved in the town stuff. " She explained, smiling at the memory of the last town event she'd gone to.

Juice studied her face, knowing she wasn't telling him how much she loved it. For some reason, she didn't want him to know how great she thought it was. The fact she never planned on telling him about this part of her life was a little upsetting, but nothing he was gonna dwell on. She'd told him, and that was all he cared about.

He had to admit, he was a little jealous of her family. They weren't related, yet they loved each other as if they were. How could those people treat each other as family, when his actual family couldn't? His sister ran as fast as she could the second she was able to. Her mom would rather stay with an abusive asshole than him. His dad . . . well, he wasn't even in the picture. He took off before he was even born.

Clearing his throat, he wasn't going to think about that. His sperm donor didn't deserve a second of his thoughts. No more than he'd already given him anyway.

He blinked back to what was going on when Savannah waved her hand in front of him. "Hey, hey, JC? You with me?" She asked, getting his attention back. "You spaced out on me. I asked if you had work tonight." She repeated her question.

Looking over, he nodded as he shifted around. Glancing at the clock, he realized more time had gone by than he'd realized. "Uh, yeah. I should get going soon. Thanks for reminding me, babe." He said, rubbing his tired eyes. They were only suppose to have a quickie before he got ready for his shift at the club tonight. Of course, that quickie turned in world war three when her brother came in and then they'd lost track of time when they started talking.

So much for getting in a shower before his shift.

Stretching, he got up and adjusted his crotch before leaning over to give her a quick kiss. He left to go get dressed in the bedroom.

Looking around the club, Juice could see some of the usuals dancing around. There were the girls who were looking for hook ups, guys doing the same. The ones who were hoping to find someone, but too shy to actually start a conversation. The occasional group that went out to the club for the night.

If he was being honest, he knew he used to be one of them. The one who searched for someone to go home with. That was back when he needed somewhere to sleep, the nights that were too cold or too hot to stay in his car.

It was different now. He had a girl waiting for him in their bed now. It wasn't a temporary place to sleep, but home.

"Hey, Juicy."

Looking up, he saw one of the regulars standing in front of him. Her name was Cassie, he knew cause she'd brought him home a few times. Her blonde hair had once looked so soft and healthy, her skin use to be soft, flawless. Now she was wearing wrinkled clothes and had the sleepy eyed stoner face along with greasy locks. "Hey, Cass. The usual?"

She had a pot problem, and he knew he wasn't helping said problem and she nodded. Glancing around he pulled her to the dance floor. Cassie knew the play by now. Rubbing against him, his hand slipped into her back pocket, the little pouch of weed slipping in with his fingers. Her hand slipped up his chest, the other one slipping lower as they moved to the beat. Discretely, she slipped the small wad of cash into his front pocket.

"Thanks, Juice. Don't know what I'd do without you." Get clean, he thought to himself.

He wouldn't say that though, not out loud. She was business, a way to keep his head above water. Her addiction was his profit. "It was pleasure doin' business with you, Cass." He chuckled into her ear.

Before he could pull away and end the dance, her lips were on his. He stopped dancing, not knowing what to do. He didn't kiss her back, the kiss was over before he could register what had happened. "How about we move our business back to my place? It's been a while since you came over." She said, further making her suggestion clear as she cupped him through his pants.

The second her hand touched him, he was jerking back like he'd been burned, his hand closing around her wrist to keep her from trying again. "That's off the table now, Cass. I'm getting serious with someone." He confessed, hoping this didn't ruin future dealings with her. He knew he wouldn't put his relationship with Savannah at risk just for a few bucks.

She looked honestly surprised, and Juice wasn't sure if he should be more offended than he was or not. Was it so hard for her to believe he'd found someone? He wasn't a complete loser. None the less, she was surprised by the news. "Good for you, Juice." She said, now surprising him. She raised her hand up, stroking his cheek. "If anyone deserves a piece of happiness, it's you. You're always good to me." She said, stretching up to her toes to kiss his cheek.

He stood there in shock, not really knowing what to say. Cassie was his friend, they took care of each other, kind of. Not like the way Mel did, but they were friends. Smoked pot together, she'd almost always let him crash with her when they had an exchange. In return, he was nice to her. He never gave her more than a half ounce in at a time. Never let her buy more than one bag a week. He knew she had a problem, knew she was failing her classes to stay home and smoke, but he was selfish and needed the cash.

"Uh, thanks, Cass. I'll see you around?" With a nod from her, he moved away from her and went back to where he was suppose to be standing.

Juice had been gone for a few hours now, and Savannah was bored out of her mind. Nothing was on TV, and the last thing she felt like doing was homework. She was still on a rush from what Jax had told her. Opie was in prison, and no one thought to tell her until now. He was her brother, she had every right to know.

She wasn't gonna mope about it. Opie wouldn't want her to. She still had two months left of school and then . . . did she go home for the summer? Or did she stay here with Juice? If she took a couple courses over the summer, she'd be able to keep the apartment. Which meant Juice would still have a place to stay over the summer.

Would her not going back to Charming cause problems for her? Probably. No doubt Gemma wouldn't like that. Looking around her apartment, could she really leave now? It was her home more than Charming was lately. There were more pictures on the wall, pictures of her and Juice. Pictures of them being happy.

It didn't take her long to know what she wanted to do. Her life was here with Juice. He'd be graduating, sure, but that didn't mean they'd just end. They'd worked too hard to get where they were to just give it up because of that.

As far as she knew, he didn't plan on ending things after graduation either. She couldn't wait for his graduation, actually. She knew his mother wouldn't be coming, so that left it up to her to make it memorable. She should start planning it soon, or at the very least figure out what they're gonna do. Dinner most likely.

The knock at the door interrupted her planning. Getting up, she crossed the room, checking the peephole, before opening it. Skylar stood on the other side, flashing her a smile. "Hey, babe. You busy? Is tall, geeky, and handsome here? Did I interrupt anything kinky?" She teased, giving her a wink as she looked around.

It was obvious now that Juice was living here. It was scarily clean, but it still had a hint of male about it. If that didn't give it away, it was the fact Savannah now had pictures hanging up on the wall and Juice's muddy shoes were next to hers. His clothes were folded together with hers. It was official, and Skylar couldn't help but feel envious of them.

"No, Juice is at work tonight. What's up?" She asked, closing the door behind her.

Skylar shrugged looking over the pictures. They looked so happy, so . . . couply. They were serious, something Skylar never wanted. She'd seen what it'd done to her parents, and she wasn't gonna put herself through that. It didn't mean she didn't dream of it. "How are things going with Juice? You pop the 'L' word yet?" She asked, glancing back briefly.

Savannah tensed up, not meeting her eyes. She had yet to even utter those words to Juice, and she wasn't sure if she could. He'd said it numerous times, given her the chance to say it back to him. For some reason the words kept getting stuck in her throat. "No, and I can't figure out why not. I mean I'm living with the guy, we've shared a bed now for months. Why can't I just say I-I love him? I think I do." She said, not know how to explain it.

She, herself, wasn't sure what love was. She knew her dad loved her mom, but her mom cheated on him with Clay. He loved her mother, but he cheated on her when he went on runs. Her mom knew it, but she pretended not to. Jax loved Tara, but look how that ended. Everyone she'd known to be in love, it never ended well for them. So, maybe she was afraid.

Was she about to admit that to Skylar, probably not. Maybe that was something she should tell Juice in private?

"Things are good between you two?"

That made Savannah smile. As if the pictures weren't proof enough. Things were amazing between them. They went ice skating, regardless of the fact neither of them could skate much at all. They'd eat dinner and lunch together when they could. Juice even went as far to light candles to make it more romantic. In turn, she helped him with his studies outside of the garage, like math and his history class. It worked for them.

"Things are great, really. I mean, we have our arguments, but it's normal. We work so well, and I . . . I don't . . . I can't screw this up, Sky." She said, a small smile on her face. "Enough about me and Juice, what's going on with you? Thought you would have been on a date or something."

Skylar knew she was right. About now would be the time she'd be on date, most likely at the same old club, dancing with the cookie cutter cute boy from school. Sure, she'd been asked, but she wasn't feeling it tonight. She was sick of the routine. Shrugging, she knew there wasn't much to tell. "Mixing stuff up. The college scene is getting a little old. I need a break, something . . . someone different." She explained.

Savannah was about to tease her about what she'd said, but another knock at the door prevented her from doing that. Did Juice forget his keys again? Glancing at the clock, she knew it couldn't be Juice. It was too late for him to just realize that, but too early for him to be done with his shift.

She hoped it wasn't Jax, ready to go another round with their fight. Sighing, she rose to her feet and crossed the room. With a glance back to Sky, she pulled the door open. "Jax, if this is you . . . oh, hey, Hap. Long time no see." She said, surprised at the appearance of the Tacoma Killer. To go into the story of that nick name, would be too much of a mess.

Happy stood there at his full height, his dark eyes glaring at her. If Happy was closer to twenty than he was to forty, she might have found him attractive. "Lookin' for Jax, said he was coming to see you." He said, his rough voice surprising her.

So Jax hadn't gone back to the New York clubhouse after their fight. He was probably at some bar picking a blonde bimbo up, licking his wounds while he could. "Uh, we got into it. Haven't seen him since he left. Sorry." She said, glancing back when Skylar came up behind her. The look in her friend's eyes was one she knew well. She was intrigued, seeing her next challenge. "Uh, this is Sky, she lives across the hall from me. Sky, this is Happy, he's . . . friend's with my brother Jax." She said, introducing them after a hard jab from her friend.

Happy simply looked her over with that predatory look. Looking between them, Savannah suddenly felt like the third wheel in something she definitely didn't want to be apart of right now. "I'll show you back." Sky suddenly spoke up, slipping passed her friend. "Back to my room, that is." She said more to Savannah, giving her a wink as she took his hand and led him across the hall.

Seeing Happy follow her inside, she wasn't sure which she was more worried about. Happy or Sky. A shiver went down her spine, she definitely did not want to think about that.

It was nearing dawn by the time Juice got back to the apartment. He was coming off the elevator, exhaustion hitting him hard. He couldn't wait to crawl into bed to find Savannah naked and sleeping. She hardly ever wore anything to bed now. It was pointless. Adjusting his bag, he knew he'd need to find a good hiding place for it. The last thing he needed was for Savannah to find his weed bag.

Yawning, he rubbed his face as he walked down the hall toward their apartment. He wasn't sure which he was more excited for. Naked Savannah, or that mattress from heaven. Maybe both. Yeah, that made more sense.

His thoughts of naked Savannah and sleeping were momentarily forgotten when the sound of a door opening caught his attention. Looking up, he saw that it was Skylar's door, but it wasn't her coming out. Juice froze where he stood, taking in the sight of the scary biker coming out.

He was covered in tattoos from what he could see. He even had a dragon on his bald skull. That was badass, Juice thought to himself. Something he'd like to think he'd have the guts to do himself one day.

The fact that this guy was at least, if not more, twenty years Skylar's senior did not go unnoticed by Juice, but he was too tired to give it much more thought than that. The blonde was an adult, she could make her own choices. Even if this one happened to be some old scary biker.

As the man walked past Juice, he gave him a nod. Juice didn't know what else to do but return the acknowledgement. His eyes followed the older man as he got onto the elevator until the doors shut. He stood there another minute before snapped out of it and pulled his key from his pocket and went inside.

He had a naked girl waiting for him.
