"I can't believe how big this little one is getting," he said as he looked down at the babe in his arms.
"I can't believe how big either of the girls are getting," she replied as she scooped another spoonful of baby food.
"I know," Artie agreed, "but it doesn't fell all that long ago that Santana was yanking me out of class and wheeling me into that bathroom."
Rachel made a noise of disgust, "Don't remind me. Come on, baby girl," she tried to coax Beth into eating, "be a good girl for Mommy."
"Wait, Mommy?"
"You caught that, huh?" The raven haired mother chuckled.
"When did this happen and where have I been?"
"Recently and from what I know, you've been with Tina."
"Ok, I'm guilty of that," the bespectacled boy admitted sheepishly, "but Houdini, this is huge!"
"It makes sense," she said distractedly as she continued to attempt to get the blonde child to eat.
"I'm sure it does, but in all the years I've known you, finding a serious relationship in high school didn't fit into your ten year plan and Mommy sounds more than serious," he pointed out.
She broke her attention away from Beth long enough to look at her best friend as she said, "The ten year plan is long dead and things are different with Quinn, you know that."
"I guess," Artie reposition Charlie who was lolling to sleep in his arms, "I just don't want to see you get hurt is all. You're my Houdini."
"I'm going to move with her after graduation."
"Seriously?" He couldn't quite believe what he was hearing, he was very aware of the way Rachel's life had changed and how she'd changed but he still never thought of her as the type to pursue a high school relationship as something more than that, she'd always been so...particular and precise in what she was doing and what she wanted out of life.
She gave up trying to convince Beth that her food was delicious and set to work on cleaning up her daughter, that still felt odd to be able to say officially, her daughter, she had two daughters. "Seriously, wherever she decides to go t school, we'll all go together."
"Wow, but what about you?"
"What do you mean?" Rachel questioned perplexed.
"Well, as cute as your little family is, you are Rachel Berry, you were never made to be someone's housewife." To be honest the idea of his best friend as a housewife amused him greatly, mostly because he knew she'd never be able to do it, it would actually drive her insane.
"Just because I'd be looking after the girls while Quinn is in class doesn't mean I'm a housewife."
"You're going to need more than that, Rachel," he sighed dejectedly, "and you know it."
She finished wiping Beth's face and lifted her out of the high chair, bringing her to sit on her lap where she gently rubbed the not quite a toddler's back, "Are you saying my girls aren't enough for me?"
"Not at all!" Artie quickly backtracked. "But what I am saying is that you need to live for more than just your girls."
"What are you suggesting I do, Artie? I've missed almost all of the deadlines, if not all of them." It was true, ever since her trip to New York with her girlfriend she'd given some serious though to college and the possibility of still pursuing her derailed dreams but she'd missed most of the deadlines and it had just seemed like a sign to her that she wasn't meant to pursue what was once her dream.
"That's the beauty of late admissions and even if you don't make it in time for first semester, there's always the second one," he pointed out gently.
"So you think I should apply anyway?" She knew that she sounded hopeful and if it'd been anyone but Artie she might've been concerned about letting on that part of her actually wanted to apply but she knew that Artie wouldn't say anything to anyone until she'd made up her mind.
Artie nodded, "As long as it's what you want, then yes."
"And what if I'm confused by what I want?"
"Then apply anyway. Just because you get in somewhere, doesn't mean you have to go."
"It will if people find out."
"So don't tell them until you've decided what you want to do, no one is going to hear anything from me," he promised.
"Thanks, Artie," she smiled sweetly. She was so thankful for her friendship with the boy who she currently trusted with her youngest daughter, "looks like Charlie thinks you make a good pillow."
He looked down and chuckled softly, "Looks that way."
"Let me just go put Beth in the playpen and then I'll release from Charlie before she gives you a dead arm."
Author's note: Hi guys, so I'm just gonna say sorry for this chapter because I'm really not happy with it but I just can't come up with anything else (trust me, I've had this written for a few weeks now). I'm currently looking for someone to act as a beta, of sorts, and to bounce ideas around with me, if anyone feels up to the challenge drop me a message, pretty please. As always please R&R, just try to be kind about this sucky chapter.
