This chapter was getting really long and I didn't think you guys would want to read something 4600 words long. That's why I split it into 2 chapters.
Chapter 18: Terra vs. Raven
"I need to get out of Jump City soon...more people will get hurt if I don't."
Raven sighed again as she headed toward the door of the rooftop. The empath hurried down the steps, her thoughts muddled with thoughts. Her thoughts were cut short when she felt the conflicted emotions of a Titan. Her eyes locked with sky-blue ones.
"Is there something you needed?"
"I want you to answer some questions."
"If you have questions, then ask."
Terra was slightly surprised. Was she really going to answer these questions? Of course, the blonde had her doubts. Raven had not answered anything before, what would make this any different.
"First, what is up between you and Beast Boy?"
That got her attention and made her face move, albeit a centimeter. Raven wondered that herself. She could hear her emotion, Love, humming in the back of her mind.
The feelings could only be what Raven would call "distracting" and "complicated". She could not indulge in having possible romantic feelings with anyone, and besides it would be pointless with her departure in a few days.
It took Raven a few moments to come up with an answer that would hopefully satisfy an answer from the begrudging Titan.
"To be frank, I don't think there's anything romantic between us. Look, I never wanted to get between you and Beast Boy. If it upsets you, you can put your mind at ease; I'm leaving soon, so it won't matter."
Terra was skeptical. Could she lying just so Terra would leave her alone? Or could she telling the truth? It was hard to tell since she had a good pokerface. But what if she was wrong about Beast Boy; what if they did have romantic feelings to each other and she left? Would she take his heart with her? Would Terra be doomed to being in a stagnant relationship?
That scared the 21-year-old.
Raven could sense Terra's emotion's getting riled up. Thanks to the years of training, she managed to block it out. She didn't want to think of what happened if she was wrong.
Terra tried to straighten up since she remembered she was in the presence of someone who could sense feelings.
"That thing that Beast Boy turned into...what was it?"
Raven frowned and she felt so offended. She remembered The Beast saved her when she was still a teenager. The empath felt a small wave of nausea as she remembered Adonis in Beast-form and all the sick, twisted, disgusting thoughts and feelings emanating off him. If it weren't for The Beast, the sorceress probably would dead.
Raven narrowed her eyes as she answered.
"That thing is Beast Boy. All his primal instincts but its not mindless; that form is intelligent. He was able to turn into several years ago and he saved me. It is Beast Boy. You would be wise to remember that."
Terra grimaced. She hated talking to this woman. 'What gives you the right to tell me what to do? You just show up outta nowhere, creepy as hell, and bring all this...this shit with you! Just go back to where you came from!'
Almost reading her thoughts, Raven's eyes darkened and her frown grew.
"That guy who attacked us. Who. What the hell was it?"
Raven tensed slightly because not even she knew who or what he was. She came up with sorts of conclusions, ideas, and scenarios but none of them seemed to make sense. The only idea she could think of was he was a former acquaintance of her father's.
"I don't know."
"Bullshit. I know you do!"
'Let me kill this annoying bitch!' Rage grinned.
'Rage, now is not the time!'
Her emotion scoffed. 'I always wanted wrap my hands around her scrawny neck and strangle the life out of her.'
It was odd; while Raven and Terra were getting in a heated debate on the outside world, Rage was screaming at her in her inner one. To any normal person, they probably would have been driven mad years ago. Fortunately, Raven was anything but and she was able to juggle both fights at the same time. Although, even Raven's patience had a limit and she was beginning to run out of it.
The argument was getting louder and louder which drew unwanted attention from the other Titans and they came over to investigate the source of the yelling.
"What's going on here?"
"She knows what that thing that attacked the city was!"
"How many times do I have to tell you that I don't!"
"Yeah, Terra. Let it go" Cyborg said raising his hand.
"Are you kidding me?! How many people got hurt because of her! The city's practically blaming us because some ass-hole came looking for this wash-up!"
"Terra, that's enough. Getting pissed off isn't gonna solve anything" the leader stated. "What's done is done."
"Friend Terra, please."
The blonde was furious as all eyes went to her. She was looking like the bad guy and the only thing she wanted was for everything to go back to normal. Was that so wrong?
'I just wanted everyone happy and safe. Isn't that what everyone wants? But now I'm looking like an asshole'
It took so long for her to regain everyone's trust and now it was being wiped away. This was all too much to take in. Her eyes shot to the demoness, the usual cold expression that had been on her face.
'Was this all some plot to get rid of me? Was her plan just to swoop in, look like a hero, say she's leaving to cause drama so I would leave instead?'
The geomancer was caught in the icy gaze of the enchantress. Was this all some sort of mind-game? Make herself look like a victim and a hero while being letting inadvertently blaming Terra? She couldn't stand it. Not in her own home.
"What happened five years ago? Why does everyone look like that when someone bring it up?"
Everyone had grim faces and remained silent. There it was again and Terra frowned. She hated not knowing anything.
"Five years ago...the end of the world happened, quite literally. Everyone was gone, people mere shells of what they were. The world was hell."
"You expect me to believe that?"
"You have no idea the destruction my kin reaped!" Raven yelled.
"Your kin?"
Raven didn't answer again.
"Is this true?" Terra asked the Titans.
They didn't want to answer but Beast Boy gave a small nod.
"Why didn't anyone tell me?"
"It was not their place."
Terra's eyes turned back to the former Titan. Doubt, disbelief and fear shining in her blue orbs. It wasn't the first time someone looked at Raven like that and it certainly would not be the last.
"Why did you come back?"
Raven stayed silent for a moment.
"You come in, borrow my friends for a while, and waltz out like nothing ever happened."
"I didn't intend to-"
"You should just leave! I mean it's what you're good at!"
"Excuse me!"
'Ooh, bitch!' Rage grinned. 'That does it!'
Raven leaned against the wall as her vision darkened and blurred. The last thing she heard was the Titans struggling to calm down Terra.
"C'mon Terra, that's enough."
"Bullshit!"
Their yapping was cut short when they heard a malicious chuckle come from Raven.
"Rae?"
Without warning, a dark energy cloaked the blonde geomancer and she was flung out the window. She grunted in shock and pain as glass cut her back and face.
"Raven! What're you-?!"
The Titans' voices were cut off as Raven waved her arm, a large black dome formed around them.
"Sorry, I want you all out of my way while I rip that blonde bitch's head from her shoulders!" she grinned at them.
They caught the color of their friend's eyes: crimson, not amethyst. All they saw was the Rage-possessed Raven zip after the target of her ire.
Terra summoned a rock towards her but the rock was only half her size, so she used it as foothold. She noticed she was several stories from the ground and slowly caught her breath. Her body hurt from the cuts and injuries that the previous fight, and now fresh ones added to that pain. Hundreds of thoughts zipped across her mind as she tried to process that the enchantress had just attacked her.
"You always pissed me off."
Terra whipped around to see Raven. Her red eyes glaring at the terrakinetic with intense hatred. The blonde wiped blood of her forehead that had been obstructing her eyesight with the back of her hand. She smirked.
"Ditto."
The possessed Raven slashed the air that obliterated the rock. Terra dove off at the last second off her foothold before Raven had a chance to destroy it and plummeted towards the earth. She summoned a dirt clot toward her and condensed it, which she landed on, before she chucked several large boulders at the empath. Raven dodged out of the way, waved her hand and shattered the boulders. The geomancer took advantage of the pointed fragments and shot them towards Raven. Sensing the oncoming assault, Raven cloaked herself in a black bubble before shooting it away from her and destroying all the fragments in the air.
Terra dashed towards Raven on the dirt clot while sending more boulders at the empath. Raven zipped and zoomed out of the way, destroying the boulders as she did so. The two super-powered Titans continued their assault but they were quickly leaving the vicinity of the island and were heading towards the city. Raven smirked as they were crossing the open ocean. Terra was now at a disadvantage; there was no dirt, rocks or ground, except for that buried hundreds of feet under the sea. The terrakinetic realized her position and was quickly switched to the defensive. Raven sent an black crescent-shaped disc at Terra but she split the dirt clot in two and jumped to it. The geomancer jumped back and forth between the alternating dirt clots like it was some sick, twisted dangerous version of Frogger. Terra nearly lost her footing when Raven scored a direct hit on her platforms, nearly destroying the platform. Instinctively, the earth adept merged the two platforms and doubled her speed towards the city.
The empath did not care that they were advancing towards the city. In fact, Rage would gladly reduce the city to rubble. Everything was at the mercy of her ire and right now, Terra was at the top of her list.
Back at the tower, the four Titans struggled to get out of the bubble. They heard the fighting between their two friends as they beat against the dome. Starfire pounded against the shield with her Tamaranean strength; Cyborg blasted against the dome with his arm cannon; Beast Boy morphed into various animals and attacked the dome while Robin used a multitude of attacks from his staff to grenades, all of this to no avail.
"It seemed Friend Raven's shields have grown stronger."
"We gotta stop 'em!"
"Raven is in Rage-mode right now! I don't think there's a force on Earth that can stop her!"
"Well, we gotta try something! They'll destroy the city!"
Robin looked at the floor. An idea popped into his head: perhaps the shield did not apply underneath? He told his teammates, Starfire taking hold of Cyborg and Beast Boy on edge. Reaching into his belt, the Boy Wonder pulled out an explosive gel as well as a detonator and sprayed on the floor. He activated the detonator and the floor beneath them collapsed, causing the four heroes to fall. Cyborg and Starfire were safe floating hundreds above the rocky ground. Beast Boy morphed into a pterodactyl and grabbed hold of their leader in his talons.
"Great job!"
"Beast Boy! Starfire! Let's go!"
Wordlessly, the two flying heroes nodded as they carried their friends towards the two fighting Titans.
End.
So what do you think? Lemme know!
