They'd moved the coffee table out of the centre of the room so that they could set up the play mat for Charlie and so that Beth could toddle around more freely without the worry of her catching her head on the corner of the table. Toys littered the floor, it was a general mess but neither of them cared, too happy to be spending time with their daughters and lazily discussing school.
A knock on the door interrupted their thoughts and Quinn uncrossed her legs to stand, "I'll get it."
Moments later she returned with Puck in tow and resumed her spot on the floor beside Rachel, they'd been waiting for the young man so that they could talk to him about their future plans concerning their family. It still made her smile that this was her family, she'd never thought she wanted it, she'd never asked for it, she'd kind of stumbled into it but now that she had it she couldn't imagine her life any other way.
Puck took a spot on the floor opposite the two young women and grabbed Beth as she toddled a little too closer, pulling her into his lap, "Hey Monkey Face!"
Quinn rolled her eyes playfully, "She looks nothing like a monkey."
"Mama needs to be quiet," he smirked back, "Daddy says you're a monkey face so you're a monkey face, a very cute monkey face."
"If you two are going to start bickering I will grab the cushions off the couch and throw them at you," Rachel laughed.
"Well, that's just mean," the young man pouted, "you hear what your Mommy's gonna do to Daddy? I think you should climb all over her."
"Because she wasn't doing that just before you got here," the brunette shot back.
"Probably, but you love every minute of it."
Chocolate eyes dart to the play mat, "I do, there's no use trying to argue that one but it'd be nice if she was a little less grabby," she absentmindedly rubbed at her chest from where the toddler had grabbed a fistful of skin in an attempt to climb up on Rachel's shoulders.
"Yeah," Quinn agreed, "that looked like it hurt."
"If it makes you feel any better," Puck commiserated, "she was standing on my thighs the other day and slipped and ended up crushing something I really didn't want crushing."
"Why is it," Rachel continued, "that no one warned us just how painful being a parent really is?"
"Probably worried that if we knew the truth that we wouldn't want to do it," Quinn laughed.
"Da!" Beth called out as she squirmed in Puck's grip, eager to be free amongst her toys.
"Still not grasped the other 'da' I see," Rachel chuckled softly.
"Nope. You'd think after 'Mama' that 'Dada' would come easily but she seems to be stuck on 'Da', I think she does it on purpose."
"Yes, Puck, our one year old daughter is deliberately calling you 'Da' because she knows it drives you nuts."
"Hey, you gave birth to her, it's totally a possibility she's out to drive me nuts."
"You're really asking for a slap," Quinn warned teasingly.
Rachel rolled her eyes, "Need I remind you two about what I said about the couch cushions? I will throw them at you, don't for a second think that I won't."
Puck finally relented his hold on his daughter and watched as she ran on unsteady legs, "We might need to cover the floor with those cushions for when she," he pointed at Beth, "loses balance."
"I don't know," Quinn mused, "I think she's mastered the art of falling over. Doesn't mean she doesn't scare the life out of me when she does it but she seems happy to get back up and keep on going."
The young father nodded, his eyes darting between the blonde child and the two women opposite him before finally focusing his attention, "So, as happy as I am that I'm getting to spend time with all of my girls, I'm guessing there's a reason you called me over?"
Quinn nodded, after a lengthy talk with Rachel it'd been decided that they needed to talk to the young man that was Daddy to their daughters. "It's about what we're going to do after we graduate."
Puck nodded for the blonde to continue.
Hazel eyes darted to the body beside her before taking a breath, if Puck rejected this she honestly had no clue as to what they would do, how they would figure it all out so they all still fit in each others lives. "We want to go to New York."
"Ok."
"Ok?" Rachel's voice was filled with confusion, this was too easy, she'd expected that they'd need to explain their reasonings behind wanting to go to New York.
"Yeah, ok."
"That's it?" the brunette was a little dubious.
"What'd you want me to say, Rach? No? That I want you to stay forever in Lima and always be reminded of everything?" He ran a hand over the back of his neck, "I knew we'd be leaving Lima, I've just been waiting for you guys to tell me where we're headed."
"This isn't just about us," Quinn pointed out, "it's about what you want too."
"I know that but guys, it's simple. Wherever you and the girls go, I'll go. I don't care if it's another crappy town like this one, so long as I get to be with my girls."
"Noah..."
"Rachel, it's not a big deal to me. I'm not going to college, not any time soon. All I want is to be able to watch the girls grow up and get to see my best friends. I can get a job doing construction or something while I try to figure out what I want to do so I can make our girls proud."
"They're already going to be proud of you," Quinn said with utmost sincerity.
"They really are, Noah, they're so lucky to have you as their Daddy."
Puck shrugged, he'd never been all that good at receiving praise, "The point is, we'll go to New York. Quinn can go to school because I know for a fact that you got accepted to like every school you applied to," Quinn blushed bashfully, "and Rachel can do whatever she wants to do without people constantly reminding her of," he bit his tongue to stop the expletive falling from his lips in front of Beth and Charlie, "everything, and the girls will get to grow up without all the narrow minded idiots that make up this place."
"If I ever hear you compare yourself to your father ever again, I will hurt you," Quinn smiled fondly, she was amazed at how much Puck had grown ever since he'd come to learn of Beth's existence, "you're an amazing guy, Noah."
"I'm awesome," he shrugged, eager to get away from all the praise that was making him feel awkward, "so it's decided then, yeah? We'll finish the Hell of McKinley then bust on outta here for New York?"
"You are awesome," Rachel chuckled.
"You guys might have to take the girls some extra nights so I can pick up some extra shifts and save for a place once we move," Puck pointed out, he hated that he'd be giving up some of his time with his daughters but he knew in the long run it would be worth it, he was investing in their future together.
"We'll make it all work," the brunette promised, "one way or another. This is for all of us."
"My uncle is into construction, I know he's done a handful of jobs over NY way, I'll hit him up, see if he has any contacts that I can make use of. Quinn'll be in school and you'll be...what will you be doing?"
"Quinn will be at NYU and I'll be in school at NYADA, and we'll pick up jobs as well to support ourselves. We'll probably have to start looking into daycare places, best to be prepared and some places have a waiting list that's a mile long so the sooner we get-"
"Rach..." Quinn tried to interrupt, no one had noticed that Charlie had rolled onto her front.
"started the better because the last thing we want is-"
"Rachel!"
Rachel's head snapped to look at her other half, she'd heard the urgency in Quinn's voice, "What?"
"Look," she pointed towards the play mat, Rachel and Puck's gaze following the direction of the slender index finger.
"Quinn!" Rachel slapped against the blonde's thigh excitedly while Puck scrabbled to get his phone out of his pocket.
"We're in trouble now," Puck laughed as he filmed the moment on his phone.
"She's crawling! Charlie's crawling!" She bounced excitedly, pride filling her chest.
"We are in so much trouble now," Quinn agreed as she wrapped an arm around Rachel's shoulders and squeezed, "and just because Beth and Charlie both know how to move. We're going to have three very upset grandparents."
"I'm filming," Puck offered as a consolation prize.
"Mommy's clever little star," Rachel smiled.
Author's note: I FINALLY finished writing chapter 45! Only problem is now I have no idea what to do next. I've got stuff planned but it's big stuff and I need to break it up a bit otherwise it's just gonna be one big thing after another and it'll be boring to read or something like that. I've got 3 chapters, well parts of, but you guys can't have those yet cos they need to happen later in the story. Anything anyone particularly wants to see? Not saying I'll do it but ideas are most welcome at the moment. I've really got to stop having ideas for the sequel when I haven't even finished writing this yet.
