Here we go, next drabble, this is for StarlightInHerEyes22 who request Merlin!Whump and protective Gwaine, I was now too sure how much whump to do, so this is what I've come up with.
Merlin stumbled.
"I can't go on Gwaine." Pain throbbed through his limb as he pressed his hand tightly to the bleeding wound. Gwaine knelt beside him and put his hand on the thin shoulder.
"We'll stop for now, but we can't stay for long. I'll keep watch, rest for now."
"Thank you, Gwaine." Merlin's eyes slipped closed.
Gwaine looked at his charge, pride and sympathy swelling in his heart. The young man had fought valiantly, willing to give himself for Arthur. Affection etched on his face, Gwaine turned his back raising his sword to defend his warlock from the night.
