Hey guys I know I said I might not be able to update but I ended up having extra time on my hands :)

I was going to make it longer but I thought I'd stop here.

Chapter 14

In the dining hall Sesshomaru sat at the head of the table and Kagome to his right and the rest of Kagome's friends were there. Shippo and Rin had become inseparable since Kagome and her group had been at the palace. She wondered if they thought of each other as brother and sister and if they would change their minds as they got older. Kagome's thoughts were interrupted by Sayuri. She strode in like she owned the place.

Sesshomaru growled loudly and the servants scurried into the kitchens. He now knew why Kagome had thought that he was with another woman. But why didn't he feel her presence earlier? Of course he was too preoccupied with Kagome. The little Miko with be death of him, he paid little attention when she was around. Her scent intoxicated him, he couldn't think of anything but bedding her since he had tasted her at the well.

"Well Sesshomaru who is this slut?" Sayuri questioned the Lord. She forgot herself and offended him by not using his title.

"You forget your self Sayuri! You're in my home and just because you're a Lord's daughter doesn't give you the right to address me so." He snapped and everyone in the Western palace could feel his aura.

"Forgive me my Lord." She smirked at Kagome and was anything but apologetic to Lord Sesshomaru.

"Why are you here?" He ordered.

"I came to keep you company of course." She flirted with him, and said it like she was his intended.

"Your presence isn't wanted here." He told her.

"Of course, I'll take my leave after the competition." She grinned evilly at Kagome.

"What are you talkin' about wench!?" Inuyasha yelled.

"Oh! You didn't hear? My my, Lord Sesshomaru I thought for sure you would have be told… Well then let me inform you. There is to be a competition, for Kagome. Whoever wins gets the right to mate her of course. It was decided by the High Council today." She smiled at the group and took her leave.

Sesshomaru was furious to say the least; he would have to see this for himself. He left the room without talking to anyone; he used his demon speed to get to the Councils room. Once he got there he saw the line of demons waiting to sign up to win Kagome. Whose idea was it to have a competition for Kagome anyway? He would find out later, that was for sure.

The High Council men had all been waiting for Sesshomaru to show up. They all had to hide their smiles when he walked into the arena. Sesshomaru knew that they had done it because of his mother, the entire court of demon's there had originally fawned over Lady Kimi, but she chose his father without first seeking permission from the High Council before them. Taking it out on Toga's son, they were trying to take away his mate to be.

Now he had to explain to Kagome the rules of this and why she would not be allowed to leave until there was one demon left standing. Although he believed that she wouldn't like the rules too much. They fought to the death usually, most demon's didn't back down when it came to mating. Of course Sesshomaru signed up and left to talk to Kagome. She was going to be over emotional he sighed to himself, he was not looking forward to this conversation.

He walked in with an unsettling look on his face. Kagome knew that what Sayuri had said wasn't a lie and she wanted to cry. She hated all these demons laws, she wasn't born a demon but of course that no longer mattered. Her eyes watered as Sesshomaru sat down next to her. Before he could even say anything she stormed out of the room, not wanting anyone to smell the salt of her tears.

Of course Sesshomaru and Inuyasha and little Shippo smelt them. Everybody sat there in silence unable to make words of what had just happened. Rin stood up without being excused and ran to Kagome in her room. Sesshomaru was astonished to say the least Rin his Rin got up without his permission. Apparently Kagome has got everyone wrapped her finger. Wait this Sesshomaru doesn't submit, now he had to prove his alpha status to his house, although Kagome would be alpha female. Frustrated with the situation he went into his dojo hoping to blow off some steam.

Rin had made it to Kagome's door and knocked on it gently with her little fingers. Kagome thought about ignoring it but she realized it wasn't male of any sort. Getting up off her bed she opened the screen and looked down to see Rin smiling up at her. She smiled back at the child that reminded her of herself. She knelt down and picked up Rin and put her in her lap.

"Why are you crying Lady Kagome?" She asked innocently.

"Oh, Rin sweetie, don't worry yourself I'm okay I'm just tired is all." She lied to the little girl. Kagome hated to lie but Rin was much too young to explain the matters of what was going on.

"Rin was wondering if she could sleep with you?" she asked excitedly.

"Of course, Rin." She told her as she laid her down next to her in her bed. The young child cuddled up to Kagome.

"Mama…" Rin whispered unknowingly said aloud. It melted Kagome's heart to know that she thought of her as a mother. Content next to the young girl she was about to fall asleep when she heard something outside her bedroom. Getting up gently so she wouldn't wake Rin she opened the door and saw Shippo standing there pouting.

"What's the matter Shippo?" Kagome asked worriedly.

"Mama, I want to sleep here too." He cried.

"Of course, Shippo honey." She grinned and scooped up the young fox and put him on the other side of her. They all were asleep in a matter of minutes. Rin and Shippo both sprawled out on Kagome Rin nuzzled up against her neck while Shippo lay at her breast. Sesshomaru silently came in to check on Kagome to see the three cuddled together. He hated to admit it but he was jealous of the kids. But that quickly changed to him thinking about pupping Kagome with his own and that brought a smile to his face.

Yes Kagome you will be mine, I'll make sure of that, he thought to himself.
