I don't own Bones
Ooooooooooooooooooooo
Entering the guest bedroom, Brennan found Booth waiting for her on the couch. Smiling, she held up a bag and handed it to her boyfriend. "I stopped by the diner on the way over here. I thought you might like a treat."
Opening the bag, Booth pulled out a to-go box and carefully opened it. "Oh, wow, apple pie. Thanks. Susan and Morris only eat ice cream after their evening meals, so I've been starving for some pie . . . Those two act like any dessert not ice cream is satanic or something. I know for a fact Harris eats cobbler after lunch at the diner sometimes, so I think this is Susan's doing."
Amused that he was so excited over pie, Brennan watched him pull the plastic fork from the bag and start to eat the pie. "Did you have a restful day?"
Swallowing and then licking his lips, Booth smiled at her. "Sure all except for watching that ass Stires on tv. He's as much of a creep now as he ever was. I hope he didn't bother you after the court recessed."
She didn't want to talk about Stires. "No of course not, he testified and then he left."
"Good, you don't owe that ass anything." Placing another bite of pie in his mouth, Booth moaned. "God, I love pie."
Laughing, Brennan patted his knee. "I guess I should bring you some every night."
Booth finished chewing and then swallowed. "Nah, don't do that. This was good. . . . Want a bite?"
Her nose wrinkling, Brennan frowned at the thought. "You know I don't like cooked fruit."
Waving his fork a little, Booth then scooped up more pie. "Good, more for me . . . Oh, did you notice I'm breathing better and I can talk longer between breathes."
Happy that he was happy, Brennan reached into her purse and pulled out a candy bar. "Yes, I did notice and here . . . I also brought you this."
Reaching over and taking it from her, Booth stuck it in his shirt pocket. "Thanks, Bones. I'll save the candy for later."
Curious, Brennan asked him, "Have you talked to Hank or Parker lately?"
Nodding his head, Booth paused and placed the now empty container back into the bag. "Yeah, I talked to Pops this morning and Parker this afternoon. They're fine . . . Rebecca is going to bring Parker over here to see me tomorrow morning around ten. I've talked to him every afternoon and he seems to get that I'm okay . . . He was really nervous the first couple times I talked to him, but he seems to have settled down now."
Since Booth was finished with his dessert, Brennan took the bag from Booth and placed it in a trash can near the dresser. When she came back, she sat closer to Booth on the couch.
Placing his arm around her, Booth felt pain radiate from his chest wound. Ignoring it, Booth leaned over and kissed his girlfriend.
Aware that he'd flinched in pain, Brennan returned his kiss careful not to press against his chest. "I know I say I don't like the taste of cooked fruit, but it tastes delicious on you."
Blushing a little Booth smiled. Kissing her again, Booth finally said, "Maybe you've just never given pie a fair chance."
Her hand on his face, Brennan stared into his warm brown eyes. "I never gave you the chance I should have, Booth. I'm sorry for that. I just never . . . I've had bad experiences when it comes to love and I've let that influence me more than I should have. You're different. You aren't like anyone I've ever tried to have a relationship with before. Perhaps it's because we took the time to be friends first and that has given me more confidence in you. I've had time to learn who you are and who you are is someone I can trust. Trust doesn't come easy to me Booth. It hasn't for a very long time, but I feel that I can trust you. What happened outside the Hoover . . . I've thought about that a lot and I think I let my fears overwhelm me and forced me to push you away. I . . . I believe that I pulled away from you because I was afraid that you didn't understand that I'm not like most people. I don't . . . ."
Shaking his head, Booth took her hand in his and stared at it. "Bones, I understand that you're afraid. I do. I know you better than you think I do. I screwed that up outside the Hoover. I shouldn't have pushed you like that. I . . . I don't know, I just heard Sweets' words running through my head and I just . . . I just pushed when I should have eased into it. I know you don't trust love and you don't trust permanence, but Bones I'm a permanent kind of guy. I've wanted you to be with me for a long time and I can wait longer . . . I can wait until you trust me enough to move across the line. Just give me a chance to prove to you that you can trust me."
She wanted him to look at her so she leaned over and tried to force him to look her. "I do trust you Booth. I've never trusted anyone like I trust you. Not since my parents . . . I just need more time to learn to trust myself. It's easy to trust you Booth. It's me I don't trust. I don't want to hurt you. You've been hurt enough. I'm not the only one whose been hurt by past relationships. I know that. I just need to make sure I'm strong enough to move into a relationship with you that won't cause you pain."
Solemnly staring into her crystal blue eyes, Booth smiled at her with a tinge of sadness. "Bones, I'm honored that you do trust me. I hope you always will. I . . . I love you and I trust you. I do. I don't want you to worry about that . . . I want to have a long and happy relationship with you. I don't want you to be afraid that I'm going to walk away from you because I won't . . . I'm your guy, Bones. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere."
Leaning over and kissing him again, Brennan leaned her forehead against his. "I do trust you Booth. I . . . ." Smiling, Brennan kissed him once more.
Oooooooooooooooooo
On the couch in the living room, Harris turned to his wife. "It's eleven, I guess I better go break up the love birds. I don't want Dr. Brennan driving home too late."
Shaking her head, Susan smiled at her husband. "Leave them alone, Morris. It's Friday night and there is no trial tomorrow. She can stay overnight if she wants to. If you remind her about the time, she'll leave. Just leave them alone. We'll just lock up for the night. If she wants to leave she can do it under her own volition. Let's go to bed."
Harris leaned over and kissed her. "Those two are something else. It took Booth almost getting killed to force them to realize that they're made for each other. I'm glad you didn't make me dance like that."
Sniggering, Susan placed her hand on the side of her husband's face and kissed him. "I knew I wanted you the minute I saw you, Morris. No way you were going to get away from me."
Amused, Harris stood up, pulling his bride into his arms. "I didn't exactly put up much of fight, Mrs. Harris. I fell in love with you the minute I saw you. You're my soul mate."
Wrapping her arms around his chest, Susan leaned against her husband. "Yes and you're mine."
