Chapter 17

She loves me? This human, no Kagome loves me? Did she fall in love so easily; didn't she also love his half-brother? He stood there unable to say the words back to her which he knew she longed to hear. Could he say he loved her.

'Yes.'

His beast was shouting at him in rage to tell her that he would love no other and that he didn't know what love was before he had met her. But his own thoughts were stilled as if someone pushed the pause button in the middle of a movie. He wanted to say them back and he knew he meant them but did she understand the meaning behind those words and what they meant to him. He was not one for sharing, and surely she was faithful he knew that much. He needed answers before he spoke his feelings on the matter.

"Sess…" She was worried he sensed it all around her, her normal cheerful self had a morose aura around her now. He rushed to her side wishing he hadn't caused the panic that was stirring her. He bent in front of her and looked straight into her eyes.

"We will talk about this later. Do not doubt my feelings for you. We have things to discuss before I share my feelings with you." He kissed her cheek lovingly and strode away.

Leaving her in his room alone, she wanted to cry but knew that she couldn't and kept replaying the words he said in her mind. He loved her she knew he did but why was he refusing to say the words, did he not believe her? She would prove it to him if need be. Knowing that she had to get dressed for the tournament seems how she was the entire reasoning behind it she called for Mika. Having picked out a kimono for the day Mika helped her put it on, and walked her to the event.

Mika helped her into her seat realizing that she had been sat down next to none other than Sesshomaru's mother and noticed that Lord Kuro wasn't present but he daughter was figured he was no longer welcome. But it also caught her attention that Lord Hikaru was in the tournament with all the other men. Koga was also in attendance but that didn't surprise her he was always claiming she was his woman. In her mind she belonged to no one, no longer felt the need to question herself who she thought she belonged with though, she knew whole heartedly Sesshomaru could never be replaced.

Seeing all the men left that passed the first test, which only required skill of the mind over brawn and had actually cut the remaining demon's to Sesshomaru, Hikaru, Koga (surprisingly), Katashi Sesshomaru's Captain of the guard and one other she did not know the name of who gave her chills down her spine.
