Chapter 18

Lady Kimi was watching Kagome out of the corner of her eye; she knew her son loved the ningen before her change. She wouldn't have accepted the woman before her change, but the more she observed her, the more interesting she became. She also witnessed that the young demoness Sayuri had her greedy paws set on becoming Lady of the West. Refusing to let someone who could not keep her legs together sire her grand pups! Kagome on the other hand would give not only beautiful and powerful grand pups but didn't smell of many men.

Drawing her attention back to the fight going on between the strongest youkai in the area. She felt the nervousness in the young miko-youkai. She wondered if the young woman would lose her miko powers after the mating ceremony. Maybe they would be passed down to the children she would have with Sesshomaru. She knew that Sesshomaru would win, his aura was strongest in the competitors, although the unknown male she could tell was suppressing his aura. She was still confident that her son would be victor.

Kagome could feel Lady Kimi's eyes watching her, although if she weren't looking for it she wouldn't have. Turning her attention to Sesshomaru she felt her heart in her throat and could only gasp to catch her breath, this had caught Lady Kimi's attention but only for a moment. She felt that someone else's eyes were on her and this made her body freeze. Feeling uncomfortable in her seat she began to squirm with all of the attention she had been receiving. She wish she could spare all the bloodshed that was going to happen but knew that in youkai society that if anyone challenged her mate to be that he had to fight in order for it to be a true mating. Kagome felt herself snarl at Sayuri, she thought Kagome to be inferior to her because she was not born a youkai. Jealous bitch that's all she was and Kagome could smell that she was not innocent, her virginity already taken from her. Kagome's heat was getting to her and she wanted to rip the stubborn bitch apart but that would have to wait until later knowing that she must not get distracted from the tournament.

Hours passed and Koga and Captain Katashi were eliminated. They were injured to the point that they could no longer stand. Kagome wanted to heal them with her miko powers but knew that she wouldn't be permitted to do so. The tournament would be continued tomorrow afternoon and they were having a feast in honor of the three standing contenders and in hope that one would win Kagome in mating right tomorrow.

Kagome was escorted back into her room by Mika only to find Lady Kimi there waiting for Kagome. Stopping on her tracks Kagome had a confused look on her face. Lady of the West was standing before her. Why? Resuming her walking towards her room she stopped before Sesshomaru's mother.

"Mika your services are not required I shall assist Kagome in her dressings."

Before Kagome could protest Mika retreated. Kagome stayed silent unsure of why Lady Kimi was helping her. She slid her door open gesturing for Kimi to enter her room. Silence washed over the room, nether spoke unsure how to start a conversation.

"Lady Kimi."

"Kagome before you think wrong of me I only want what's best for my pup rather, we can get along is entirely up to how you would like to proceed."

"Okay, I think I'd like that, friends." Kagome smiled at her.

"I hope you don't mind me calling you by your name, I would like to continue to do so."

"Sure. But only if I can call you Kimi."

"Of course, but I expect to be called mother after your mating ceremony." She grinned.

"Okay Kimi, what can I do for you?"

"Oh, darling I need nothing…yet I was rather hoping you would permit me to do something for you."

"What do you mean?"

"If you would allow me to assist you in your kimono, and styling your hair. No make-up though, you do not need any.

"Why are you doing this?"

"Rather I like it or not my son has chosen you, I want grand pups and I feel you are the best choice, for him and for the Western lands."

Kagome felt herself blushing under all the compliments Sesshomaru's mother was giving her. She bit her lip and it bled from her fang, damn I forgot about that. Licking her lip she liked the taste is this what she tasted like to Sesshomaru?

"First we need to bathe you."

"Okay I can do that."

"No, you agreed to let me help you. Besides I have a special blend of oils for you and its tradition. Among the youkai women, normally your mother would be here to help you as well but seeing as she isn't I will be doing it all myself."

"Tradition?"

"Yes Kagome my son has chosen you and before you mate, which I'm confident your mating ritual will take place tomorrow and these oils will be mixed of Sesshomaru's favorite scents."

"Oh, okay I guess that makes sense. I guess we better get movin' then."

Sesshomaru smelt Kagome's blood but knew it was only a minor cut but he also could sense his mother's aura in Kagome's room with her. He smiled to himself, what was his mother up to?
