The Depot
I have finally managed to get two chapters out in two days well it may be across two storied but still I'd say that is a success, I hope it gets enjoyed. I worked hard on it but I am open to criticism, so please feel free to review and tell me what you think of it. But as always I hope you enjoy the chapter and I don't own the Jak universe but I do own my characters.
As the engine on the car started the dust and sand that collected on the roof flew up into the air, causing a mini sad storm around the vehicle but as Ashlin lifted the nose of the car up the dust smashed into the floor. The three in the vehicle rocked as the boosters engaged firing the car up into the sky where they joined the rest of the bustling traffic which laced the sky over Haven city.
"So what the hell are we actually doing?" Ortz asked Ashlin as she weaved the car in and out of the traffic.
"You see the wall that surrounds Haven?" Torn replied, as he poked his head in-between the front seats.
"Yeah," Ortz replied looking around at the wall that ringed the city like a prison.
"Can you see the KG link depot?" Ashlin asked him as they flew over the city as the suns started to set over the horizon.
"You mean that huge thing with the turrets and the guards on the wall?" Ortz asked sarcastically.
"Yeah that sounds about right," Torn said as he looked down in the same direction as Ortz.
"Well apparently my father has been up to no good again and we need to find out what he is doing," Ashlin told Ortz as she angled the nose of the car towards the KG link depot.
"How are we going to get in?" Ortz then asked her as the car got closer and closer to the main gate into the depot.
"Torn give him the bag," Ashlin told Torn as he handed a carry bag to Ortz as the bag hit the seat next to Ortz a metallic clunk rang out into the night, "open it and put it on." Ashlin ordered to Ortz.
Ortz opened the bag and revealed the shining red armour, "KG armour?" Ortz asked as he slid on the armguards and slotted on the body armour.
"Yeah how else do you think we were going to get in there?" Torn asked him as Torn started putting on his own set of armour.
"Ashlin you not got any armour to put on?" Ortz asked as the car drew closer to the camp.
"Nope, I'm a KG commander and you are my escorts," She replied as the car came closer to the camp.
"Unidentified victor, identify yourself or die!" A voice rang into Ortz's earpiece.
"Kilo Golf Lima, this is Commander Ashlin Praxis, we have official business in this camp," Ashlin told the man in a stern commanding voice.
"My apologies Commander, I'll open the gate," The guard replied sounding scared. But as he did the gate of the depot opened up and light flooded into the decimated street, the rubble to what looked like an old housing area but it had borne the brunt of the Baron's reshaping of the city.
As the car went down towards the main gate, the KG on the inner positions held their rifles at attention; Ortz looked at the guards and nodded. The stripes on the guards' arms showed that they weren't your average gun hoe KG, these were top tier KG. As the car came to rest outside the main barracks inside the camp Ortz's heart was pounding inside his chest every one of the KG in the camp knew that he was with one fugitive and that he himself was one, they were also in the hot bed of KG tier one.
"Commander," A KG officer saluted Ashlin as she exited the car followed by Ortz and Torn.
"Captain, are you the camp commander?" Ashlin asked as she looked at the Captain who was about the same height as Torn and had similar tattoos; however he had a no tattoos going down his neck which meant his rank was nowhere near the rank of Torn or Ashlin.
"Yes ma'am, Captain Flint at your service," The captain replied as he placed his rifle in a clip on his chest.
"Good, I am just here to inspect the camp and see that everything is running smoothly, I'm requesting free movement throughout the camp," She told the officer as she walked into the camp.
"Negative, with respect ma'am."
"What the fuck did you just tell me?" She told the officer as Ortz pulled out his pistol.
"I'm sorry ma'am but only authorised personnel are allowed free reign over this camp," He replied looking sternly into Torn and Ortz's visors.
"Well then can you give us a check over the camp?" Ashlin then asked him as she walked closer to him.
"I guess that could be authorised," the officer replied as he was clearly occupied by other things than Ashlin's words.
"Good," Ashlin told him as she nodded for Torn and Ortz to move up infront of her between her and the Captain. As they moved into the main vehicle depot, Ortz moved over to look at a massive truck which had a black cover on top of it. He looked back at Ashlin, "So Captain, what's in the truck?" Ashlin asked as the group walked through the vehicle depot and into the main armoury, as they walked into the armoury the amount of weapons at the camp raised alarms in all of their minds.
"Why so many weapons for just one base?" Ashlin asked the captain.
"We have a problem with the wastelanders in this sector they will hit and run, not giving us time to shoot back," The captain replied as the group walked into a room which just had gun trucks with a set of anti-armour guns on each one.
"Why the hell does a border patrol need these?" Ashlin then asked the Captain as they walked up to one of the gun trucks.
"As I said we have a huge wastelander problem," The captain replied suspiciously.
"Yeah but these are invasion vehicles only used to launch attacks not defend," Ashlin pointed out as the captain looked at he with a slight squint like he didn't like her number of questions.
"Yes but sometimes we need to big guns to fend off some attackers," The captain replied with a firm look in his eyes.
"Can I climb aboard?" Ashlin asked and the captain nodded in response, Ortz came by the side of the truck and took a knee so Ashlin could comfortably get into the truck. As she did her pistol holster snapped off into the foot well of the truck, as she scooped it back up she handed it to Ortz who placed it inside his body armour. "Nice, I see all guns are clean and well lubricated," She said to the captain suggestively.
"Only the best for the Krimson Guard," The officer replied sounding rather embarrassed. However as the officer could just hide his embarrassment before a loud alarm rang through the base, like the wind through the slums. "Fuck!" The office shouted as the alarm continued to ring through the base.
"What's that?" Ashlin asked as the officer started ordering his men down a radio.
"The wastelanders are attacking the base, come with me and I'll show you why I keep putting out for more men," The captain told her as he turned over the truck and rolled it up to the wall.
"Get us up there then," Ashlin ordered as the captain raced up to the wall.
Ortz and Torn ran after the truck as the sounds of gunfire echoed down the tunnels towards them but the second they exited out onto the wall, the sound of gunfire became deafening as the rockets from the gun truck pounded the wastelander vehicles. Torn and Ortz took up position on the wall and started to fire their pistols at the targets just on the otherside of the wall.
After a few seconds the enemy disappeared into the desert like they had never even been there, Ashlin climbed out of the gun truck and walked down towards Ortz and Torn who were stood in the centre of a cluster of KG waiting for orders.
"You two with me," Ashlin ordered to them as they climbed back into the car, "Captain!" She ordered.
"I hope you will make a full report of this commander," he replied as he walked over to the car.
"I will captain, have faith," She told him as the car roared into life and the gate opened to let them out.
"Thank you ma'am," The captain told her as he saluted as the car screamed out of the gate.
As the team flew high over the city once again, "Ashlin, what was the point of that?" Ortz asked as he took off his helmet and gave Ashlin back her pistol.
"Well I just put a tracker into that gun truck I wanna know where the hell they actually go," She told him as she piloted the car towards the underground HQ but she also knew that the KG would be suspicious of a car which has just exited a KG base.
"So we just got shot at for a follow up mission?" Ortz then asked her as he pulled off the armoured pants that KG wears.
"Pretty much don't you feel loved," She told him sarcastically as the HQ came into view through the kriss cross of lights in the sky.
"Ain't it a bitch!" Torn told him, as they lowered the car into the HQ and turned off the engine.
As they all climbed out of the car and covered it with a big black coverall the Shadow came out of the door on the roof and looked at the team, "Did you succeed?" He then asked.
"We got it on the vehicle but no idea if it will work," Ashlin told him as they made their way inside.
"Ortz, why don't you go and see who is in the main area? I'll ask for you when I need you," The Shadow told Ortz with a smile on his face.
"Will do, Sir," Ortz replied as he walked towards the room where there were loud voices. As he entered the room Panacea flew across the room and hung herself off him.
"Ah so glad to see you," she told him with a slur in her voice.
"You are clearly drunk," He told her with a snigger in his voice.
"Me? No I'm just really happy, I've only just had," as she smiled and held up an empty bottle, "Oh I finished it," She said as she drooped off him.
"Yeah, where can I get some?" Ortz asked as she swung herself around his shoulders.
"Here!" She told him as she just moved in on him and planted a kiss right on his lips. Ortz didn't immediately move away he enjoyed it for a minute and then pulled away, as he looked at her he couldn't tell why she was acting like this but as soon as he looked at her, she changed her face. "Why don't you give me any attention?" She shouted at him and then stormed out of the room crying.
"What the fuck?" Ortz asked the others in the room.
"You know she likes you?" A woman in the corner asked him as he sat down and grabbed a cup of the home brewed sugar beet spirit that the underground brewed.
"Not a fucking clue," Ortz replied as he finished the glass.
"Well she likes you and she's drunk, so it was only gonna end that way, so don't feel too bad," She told him as he placed the glass on the floor and left to go up onto the roof.
I hope you enjoyed the chapter and are enjoying the story so far, please review and tell me what you think about the story so far and how I can improve it. I don't know how long it will be until I next post a chapter but until I can get the next one out….. PEACE!
