Thank you for your continued interest in my story.
I don't own Bones.
Oooooooooooooooooo
Slowly moving his ring around his finger, Booth stared at Harris as he brought Booth up to speed. Finished, Harris frowned and pointed at his friend's right hand. "That's new. I don't remember seeing that before."
Releasing his ring and clasping his hands together, Booth smiled. "Just a present from Bones."
His gaze now completely on the band of gold, Harris leaned back against his chair. "Wrong finger for a wedding ring so I guess you didn't do anything stupid while you were out."
Suddenly irritated, Booth shook his head."Stupid? You think me getting married to someone would be stupid?"
A smile lighting up his face, Harris's eyes twinkled. "Oh my God. I told Susan it wouldn't be long now."
Leaning back against his chair, Booth glared at his lieutenant. "What the hell are you talking about?"
With a gloating look on his face, Harris chuckled. "Not a damn thing . . . Susan is going to be pissed off, you do know that."
Shrugging his shoulders, Booth decided that Harris was guessing. "Still don't know what you're talking about."
Not to be put off, Harris stood up, glanced over his shoulders and then leaned against Booth's desk. "How long do I need to pretend I don't know what's going on?"
Crossing his arms across his chest, Booth glared at his friend. "Since nothing is going on you don't have to pretend about anything."
Because he didn't want to be overheard, Harris leaned closer and spoke quietly. "I advise you not to wear that right now. You can't keep your hands off of it and you had a goofy look on your face the whole time you were touching it. I know you so it wasn't hard to figure it out. It won't take long for the rest of the geniuses around here to figure it out either . . . just saying." Glancing over his shoulder, he lowered his voice even further. "Congratulations."
A smile breaking out, Booth cocked his head. "Thanks."
"Expect a call from Susan." Returning to his chair, Harris sat down. "Okay, your partner is a pain in the ass, but she gets the job done so I can see why you like working with her. If you don't mind, I'd like to keep working with her as her temporary partner until you return to the field. She makes me look real good and I like that."
Amused, Booth nodded his head. "I think you're the only one she'll work with anyway so we'll go with that. Now tell me about that case you two are working on."
Oooooooooooooooooooo
That afternoon Booth sat in the Diner and watched Brennan as she spoke animatedly about her case. Chewing on a French fry, Booth smiled and enjoyed her company.
Pausing in her tale, Brennan pointed at Booth's hand. "Why aren't you wearing your ring? You told me that you were going to wear it on your right hand for the time being."
His gaze moving down, he looked at his naked finger. "Harris guessed as soon as he saw it. He says I was being obvious. I guess I'll have to wait until your contract is up before I can wear it and then I can wear it on the left hand like I'm supposed to."
Trying to be sympathetic, Brennan smiled at her fiance. "I know you wanted to wear i,t but it is probably for the best. I know that if I wore mine right now, Angela would figure it out. She's very good at that sort of thing."
He knew that was the God's truth. Drinking some coffee, Booth placed the cup down on the table. "I got a call from Susan Harris. Man is she mad at me. She told me that she had expected to be invited to the wedding, but since we didn't invite anyone that's out and she's a little cheesed off at me."
Not sure why Susan was angry, Brennan leaned forward and lowered her voice. "I don't understand, what made her think we were going to get married in the first place?"
Amused, Booth knew Brennan was annoyed. "Susan has a sixth sense about crap like that. She's been pushing me for a long time to ask you to marry me."
"I see." Brennan picked up her glass of tea and sipped from the glass. "There is no such thing as a sixth sense. Perhaps she was just match making like Angela."
Aware that one of his agents had just come in to the Diner to pick up an order, Booth lowered his voice. "Susan just wants me to be happy. She and Morris are happy and she wants everyone she knows to be happy like she is. She's known for a long time that I love you and she's just been waiting for us to cross that damn line I drew years ago. Morris and Susan sort of adopted me as their brother and they think I belong to them so they expected to be invited to my wedding some day. Still, she says as soon as it's safe, she's going to throw a party for us and she plans to have a minister or priest there to make us renew our vows so she can see them. Susan is stubborn so we may have to do what she wants us to do. If we don't she'll make Morris miserable and then he'll make my life miserable. It's up to you though."
Mirroring Booth's smile, Brennan reached across the table and gripped his hand. "Perhaps we should consider a more formal wedding in three months. We could have the ceremony the week before my contract is up. We could go on a honeymoon and when we come back we can resume our partnership with my new contract signed."
He loved that she was willing to repeat the ceremony for his friends. Squeezing Brennan's hand, Booth leaned forward. "I love you Bones. I love you so much I think my heart is going to just pop."
Unable to stop smiling, Brennan responded, "I love you too, Booth. My heart of course will not pop because that's impossible, but I do feel very emotional right now."
Amused, Booth released her hand and picked up his fork. "Harris is going to be your partner until I can go back out into the field. He doesn't want you to partner up with anyone else."
Happy that Morris was easy to work with, Brennan picked her fork and speared a strawberry. "Good, he's a very good agent." Pausing, she frowned. "Of course he's not as good as you are, but he is better than most of the rest of the agents that work for you."
"I'll let Harris know that." Picking up his coffee cup, Booth stared at his wife. "I can't believe we did that, got married I mean. It still seems like a dream to me."
Her gaze taking in the way his eyes twinkled at her, Brennan felt her skin grow warm. "It most definitely wasn't a dream."
Wiggling his eye brows, Booth agreed with her. "Definitely not a dream."

Finding Brennan in Bones Storage, Angela breezed into the room and stopped next to the examination table. "So, Sweetie since Booth is back at work and he's doing okay, I thought you and I could go out tonight for a girls' night out. Maybe go to a spa I know, have a massage, have our cares just melt away."
Not interested, Brennan shook her head. "I can't Angela. I have plans for tonight."
Curious, Angela closed the door and turned back towards her friend. "Are you and Booth going to be together tonight? I'd think you'd be tired of being around your partner after taking care of him for the last four weeks. Has he moved back home yet? I'm sure you'll be happy to have peace and quiet again when he's back at his place."
Staring intently at the small bone in her hand, Brennan finally responded. "No, Booth is still at my apartment. He's still recovering from his injury and he shouldn't be alone. It's best he stay with me."
Puzzled at the look on Brennan's face, Angela pursed her lips momentarily. "No, he shouldn't be alone . . . So have you two made wild and passionate love yet?"
Placing the bone down on to the table, Brennan turned to stare at her friend. "Booth is still recovering from surgery. He can't perform wild and passionate sexual acts in his physical condition. He can't walk from the car to my apartment without becoming short of breath."
Her smile melting from her face, Angela frowned. "No I guess not. Is he doing okay? He is going to recover isn't he?"
Nodding her head, Brennan answered solemnly. "He's very impatient and he is a difficult patient, but he is improving and I do believe he will make a complete recovery. He has therapy three days a week and he's following the light exercise program he was given. Over all his health is very good and I don't see why he won't recover in time."
Relieved to her that, Angela's smile returned. "Good, with you helping him he'll probably be as good as new in no time . . . then you can make wild and passionate love together."
Chuckling, Brennan shook her head. "Booth is just my partner, Angela."
Angela didn't believe that for a minute. "Yeah, right."
