A/N: Keeping this short, because no one likes a long author's note… Anyways, you guys are seriously the best! I think I've gotten more reviews on this story than on the rest of mine collectively! Which is both sad and awesome…
Anyways, enjoy!
Loki strode to the throne room, stopping for a moment in front of them to collect himself. He didn't know why he'd been called here, he had been banished from Asgard. Never to return. Never wanted to return, or that's what he believed. And now…Well, there were only two reasons he could think of that he would be called back here.
And he didn't like either option.
Regardless, he straightened his spine and plastered a disinterested expression on his face before entering, pointedly not kneeling in front of Odin.
"Why have you summoned me?" He said, completely ignoring Thor. The buffoon had a wide smile on his face where he was standing next to Odin. He obviously thought that whatever was happening was wonderful, which just made Loki even more suspicious. Granted, it ruled out the execution option, but the other one…Not so much. He pushed down the bitterness that rose up when he thought of the way he'd been summoned like a dog. He was a prince, meant to be king, not meant to be called whenever it pleased them.
"It has come to my attention that there is an…entity on Midgard that Asgard would be benefited from allying with. Thor insists that we need your help." Well that threw option two out of the window, and he gave his brother a sharp look. What had happened here? Thor was easy to manipulate, especially when it was Odin doing the manipulating. He turned his attention back to the All-Father, struggling to remain polite.
"Who?" He didn't dare say more than that, wanting to keep his promise to Frigga.
"The Guardians, I believe they call themselves. Together they are nearly as powerful as you two." Odin answered. Loki paused for a second, considering the ramifications, but Thor broke in before he could speak.
"Isn't it fantastic, brother? Jack shall be able to visit Asgard whenever he wishes, as will you. It will be like old times again!" He boomed, a sunny smile on his face. Loki's eyes momentarily narrowed as he realized what Odin was doing. But he quickly smoothed his expression and dipped his head.
"Indeed." So Odin meant to control him through Jack. This would be amusing indeed.
Jack stared dubiously at the outfit that Frigga was insisting he wear. Apparently there was to be a feast, and his clothes would not suffice. Despite his arguments to the contrary, she had put him in a room with them and ordered him not to leave until he was dressed.
And she was scary, so he was going to do his best to obey her.
But these clothes had a lot of confusing buckles and straps, nothing like his simple sweatshirt and ancient pants. He was starting to wonder what the worst she could do to him was.
He was nearly relieved when the door opened and Loki walked into the room. The trickster did a double take when he saw Jack.
"What are you doing?" He asked, obviously amused. Jack scowled at him.
"Getting dressed. Or trying to. Why so many damn buckles?" He griped. Loki smirked and gave a snap of his fingers. There was an odd rush of air around him, and then he was fully dressed. Jack looked down at himself, then up to where Loki had settled himself in a dark green chair, looking suspiciously like a cat.
"That's cool. But never do that again, okay?" He said, sitting down on the bed that was in the same dark green and black motif as the rest of the room. His outfit was almost exactly like Loki's, except in a pale blue, almost silver, with black accents. He didn't know if he liked it yet, but he did like how it looked with his frost creeping over it, making nice designs over the black portions.
"So what did Odin want?" He asked, curious. Hopefully they hadn't wasted this trip. Loki looked at him, a slow smile spreading, one that Jack knew boded no good.
"You."
