Thank for your continued interest in my story.
I don't own Bones.
Oooooooooooooooooo
A new day beginning for him, Booth entered the Lab and followed Brennan and the Director of the Jeffersonian as they chatted to him about his new position. Listening, Booth was amused that both of them were trying to convey a lot of enthusiasm for his new job. As the entered the office on the opposite side of the corridor from Cam's office, Booth found a spacious office waiting for him.
Director Philip Foor pointed towards the desk and smiled at the former agent. "This used to be a study room for our interns, but we thought it would be better used as your office. You can see we furnished it completely, but if you need anything else just let me know." Turning to face Booth, Foor held his hand out.
Booth, shaking the man's hand, smiled at his new boss. "Thank you for the taking the time to welcome me to the Jeffersonian, I really appreciate it."
Releasing Booth's hand, Foor placed his hand over his heart. "Pshaw . . . Believe me when I say I'm happy to finally have someone of your caliber in charge of security here at the Jeffersonian. Our security has had its problems in the past, but I'm sure you'll get our house in order in no time."
Booth glanced at Brennan and then back at the Director. "I have a few ideas and I'll be going over the security set up for the entire Jeffersonian to see where we can make improvements."
Pleased that Booth seemed to be eager, Foor nodded his head. "Good, glad to hear it. I also will feel more confident when our world famous anthropologist is out in the field on digs and you're with her. We've had incidents in the past that gave us all quite a scare so knowing you'll be there with her will be a load off of my mind . . . Well I have to go, I have a meeting in fifteen minutes. Welcome aboard Seeley."
Nodding his head, Booth responded, "Thank you, Sir." After the man left the room, Booth finally turned towards Brennan and faced her. "What incidents? What's he talking about, Bones?"
Resigned that he needed to know, Brennan shrugged her shoulders and replied quietly. "A few times my teams have been threatened. Once I was held captive for a few days, but the kidnappers let me go unharmed."
Staring at his wife in disbelief, Booth shook his head. "Bones, what . . . okay, well you'll have me with you from now on when you go on digs so believe me, I'll protect you."
Brennan moved closer to Booth, placed her arms around him and kissed him. "This is a whole new partnership, Booth. It's exciting, but I'm a little nervous. I hope you don't become bored with your new job. I know you're a man of action."
Placing his arms around her, Booth tried to assure her. "You worry too much. Maybe I'm tired to being a man of action. I left the FBI for a reason, Bones. I'm where I want to be. I love you. Don't doubt that for a minute."
Oooooooooooooooo
Waiting on the curb for his son, Booth leaned against Brennan's car. Tweeting his wife, Booth felt someone moving closer to him before he saw her. Looking up, he found he had company.
"Hi, I'm Marsha Warsing. Are you waiting for your child?"
Distracted from his phone, Booth gave her a friendly smile. "Yeah, I'm waiting for my son, Parker."
Stepping a little closer, Marsha smiled at the very handsome man. "Oh, I know Parker. He's in my daughter, Cindy's class. She just thinks Parker is the cutest thing . . . I see the acorn didn't fall to far from the tree either."
Flattered and amused, Booth put his phone in his jacket pocket. "I think Parker has mentioned, Cindy a couple of times."
Glancing around, Marsha checked the nearby cars. "There's usually a woman that picks him up. I assume that she's your wife."
Slowly shaking his head, Booth wasn't sure he liked her nosiness. "I'm not married to Parker's mother." Understanding what game Marsha was playing, Booth explained further, "Parker's mother is busy today so I volunteered to come and get him."
Pleased to hear that he wasn't married, Marsha commented, "I think it's wonderful that you are there for your son. Not all fathers are like that you know."
His eyes on the front door, Booth hoped the bell would ring soon. "He's a great kid. His mother and I are really proud of him."
Edging a little closer, Marsha bit her lower lip. "I'm having a small party on Friday, a little get together of a few of the parents of my Cindy's classmates. Would you like to come?"
Booth shook his head and answered gravely. "Thank you but I can't. My wife and I have plans."
Disappointed that she'd been wrong about his marital status, Marsha glanced at the main entrance of the school as the bell rang and children started pouring out of the doorway. "Oh, so you're married after all?"
Holding up his left hand, Booth wiggled his finger. "Yep."
Parker spying his father speaking to Marsha raced down the stairs and across the lawn to the driveway. Arriving at the car, Parker skidded to a stop. "Dad, I was expecting Mom. Is she okay?"
Placing his arm around his son's shoulder, Booth smiled at the boy. "Your Mom had a last minute meeting this afternoon. Bones wanted to come get you, but at the last minute things happened and she couldn't come because the Metro Police asked her to look at some yucky body for them. It's you and me kid." Releasing his son, Booth moved around the car to open the driver side door.
Curious, Marsha stepped back on the grass near her car. "Yucky body? Metro police?"
Before he entered his car, Booth glanced at Marsha. "Yep." Stepping into the car, Booth waited for Parker to get into the passenger seat. Making sure the boy buckled his seat belt, he signaled his intentions and pulled out into the main part of the driveway and drove from there out onto the street.
Staring at his father, Parker commented, "Cindy says her mother is looking for another husband."
Amused, Booth shrugged his shoulders. "I got that . . . I'm not interested Buddy. I'm married, you know that."
Laughing, Parker shook his head. "I know. I was just warning you that's all."
Booth grinned while he turned on his turn signal. "Thanks, Parker."
Curious, the boy asked his father, "I thought Bones wasn't going to work with the FBI anymore."
Watching the traffic slowing ahead of him, Booth frowned. "Uh . . . Yeah, she isn't. She still has a contract with Metro Police and with the CIA as a consultant. Those contracts don't expire for a few more months. She may renew those, she hasn't made up her mind yet."
"Do you like your new job, Dad?" Staring at his father, Parker noticed the slight smile on his face.
"Yeah, Parker, it was time for me to leave the FBI. I loved the job, but I didn't want to do some of the stuff they wanted me to do any more. I think I'm going to be happy with my new job. The great thing about it, I'll be able to go with Bones when she goes on digs. That'll be pretty cool."
Excited, Parker gushed. "Wow, it sure will be. I think that will be really awesome."
Oooooooooooooooooo
Racing through the entrance of the Lab, Parker skidded to a stop and watched as his father walked through the doorway. "Where's your office, Dad?"
His eyes sparkling, Booth pointed at his office. "Go and start your homework. I have a few things to check on . . . and there's some soda and snacks in my little fridge if you're interested."
While his son walked rapidly into his office, Booth waved at Cam as she approached her office. Walking over to the platform, Booth moved up the steps and stopped to watch his Bones staring at the very gruesome body on a stainless steel body. Not approaching the body, Booth called out to her. "Hey, Bones, I'm back . . . Take your time and let me know when you're ready to go home. I have some things to take care of, so no rush. Parker is in my office doing homework."
Her concentration interrupted, Brennan moved her gaze towards her husband. "It may be a few hours. Cam is going to start the autopsy soon and I plan to help her. There's something odd about the remains."
Shrugging his shoulders moved closer so he could talk in a softer voice. "That's alright. Do what you have to do. I think I'm going to go buy a new car tomorrow. I need a set of wheels since I had to return my SUV to the FBI."
Her attention back to the body, Brennan poked her gloved index finger at the scapula. "Yes, that's sounds like a good plan. Why don't you let me buy you a car? It can be your birthday present."
A little shocked at the idea, Booth spluttered, "A car for my birthday? Come on Bones, a car? You can't buy me a car for my birthday."
Curious, Brennan turned and looked at him. "Why? Aren't we married? Isn't it true that what is yours is mine and what is mine is yours? We are a partnership and that means that we share everything including my money."
Stunned at the thought, Booth stared at Brennan for a few minutes. Feeling strange, he twisted his ring around his finger and finally spoke. "Uh, yeah, that's true, I guess. But you're rich and I'm not. I mean, I . . . ."
Smiling, Brennan winked at her husband. "This is our new life, Booth. Everything is different now. I'm going to buy you a car for your birthday." Turning back to the victim, Brennan frowned at the scapula. "We do need two vehicles now that we are a family. Our schedules may not always be in sync." Staring closer at the bone, Brennan remarked to Cam as she approached the table. "This looks odd."
Aware that Brennan had dismissed him from her mind, Booth left the platform and made his way to the Security office. Waving at Angela as she passed him, Booth smiled at her. "They have a really nice gross body for you Ange."
Rolling her eyes, the artist frowned. "Oh goody."
ooooooooooooooooooo
Just sort of setting up Booth's job so not a lot going on. Reviews would be wonderful, thank you.
