Hey everyone! This chapter's a bit late, got into reading a really good fanfiction and... well, you know how that turns out. Even if it is late, it's somewhat longer than the other chapters, so I hope you enjoy and all of that!

(Disclaimer: I do not own Doctor Who. I only own my OC, Phoenix.)

Reinette and Phoenix were hanging out on Reinette's soft bed, laughing and talking in the depths of night. Phoenix had been here for seven months now, and was starting to get a little mad at the Doctor. Why couldn't he be there sooner? No matter how sweet Reinette was, this mansion of a house was boring as hell, and she wanted some running to do. The most interesting she had most of the time was talking with Reinette, or staring out the window at the stars. Mostly wishing for the sexy blue box to appear of course.

The sound of shifting gears echoed through the bedroom, and Phoenix instantly turned to the fireplace, which was rotating into view. The Doctor, in his sexy suit and tie with his crazy ruffled hair….

Phoenix mentally slapped herself. What the hell was she thinking? That's disgusting! God, Phoenix, you really need to get out of Reinette's room. Like now. Else all hell breaks loose and she starts kissing the Doctor. She shuddered slightly at the thought. That would be like… kissing the best friend you've known your whole life.

Well, technically, Amy Pond had no problem with it… SHUT UP BRAIN!

The Doctor finally glances over us after being really creepy and sneaking around the room, and his face immediately registers shock and surprise. "Took you long enough." Phoenix said to him, rolling her eyes. But on the inside, she was jumping for joy. God, she was finally getting out of the horribly boring room!

"Wait… what? Phoenix? What are you doing here?" The Doctor questioned, just looking plain confused. Phoenix giggled slightly.

"Oh you know, just been hanging around since I jumped here SEVEN MONTHS AGO." Phoenix exclaimed, laughing slightly. The Doctor just looked kind of dumbstruck.

"Phoenix, do you know this man?" Reinette asked, staring at her confused.

"Oh yes, sadly I do. This is the man I was waiting for." Phoenix says, smiling down at Reinette.

"You were waiting for Fireplace man?" Reinette asked, kind of lost in the situation. Phoenix giggled slightly.

"This was fireplace man? Oh, really? Ha-ha that's a coincidence! Yes, I was waiting for him." Phoenix exclaimed, smirking, and glancing at The Doctor.

"Wait, hold on." The Doctor said, finally grabbing a hold on the conversation. "I only talked to Reinette five minutes ago and you weren't there, so how have you been here seven months? His eyebrows furrowed.

"Monsieur, that was weeks ago, that was months!" Reinette exclaimed, glancing between Phoenix and the Doctor. She was still really confused.

The Doctor glances over to the fireplace and walked over to it, tapping different bits of the structure. "Really? Oh. Must be a loose connection. Need to get a man in." The Doctor said.

Phoenix slid off the bed and walked over toward the fireplace. She had never really looked at it too closely, because it only reminded her of the Doctor, and how he hadn't been there. It was a golden-crème color, with intricate designs carved around the edges. Sitting on top of it was the golden clock, with flowers and wavy lines carved into it. The clock's face had cracks running across it. But something on it made Phoenix's eyes widen, and for her feet to carry her backwards. The clock had a crack on it. The clock had a crack on it!

How was the crack even here? It wasn't supposed to be here! Was it following the Doctor or her? Phoenix couldn't really tell. Something drew her toward it, some invisible force pushing her forward to touch the face of the crack. Phoenix slowly shuffled forward, eyes trained on the clock's face. She slowly lifted her hand, and placed her finger tips on the crack.

The result was instant. It sent a tingling feeling up her arm and it went rocketing through her body. It made her feel dizzy and sick. Really sick. Phoenix stumbled back as darkness slowly seeped into her vision. "Doctor?" She said softly.

He turned around quickly, glancing directly as Phoenix fell to the ground, knocked out. His eyes quickly widened and he walked toward her, which was about 2 steps, and squatted down next to her. He checked her pulse, which luckily was still working, and felt her forehead, which her temperature was still normal. What had made her faint?

Before the Doctor could notice, the crack sealed itself up, to hide. It was as if the crack had just been meant for her…

Phoenix jerked up, breathing heavily, heart beating fast. She immediately laid back down however, as her body protested heavily to her sitting up. She glanced around, and noticed she was in the ship during the year 5006 roughly. In the episode, she remembered the Doctor only saying 3,000 years in mickey's future. So she wasn't exactly sure of the year, but that had to be pretty close.

In the room, there were wires and machines everywhere. It was crowding the floors and tables quite well. The metal walls, floor, and basically everything else made it a rather dull room. Just like a ship's mechanical deck, she supposed. The Tardis resided in one corner, where it was covering the Madame De Pompadour painting. Phoenix slightly giggled at that.

She began to start to feel better, slowly sitting up from where she was. She groaned as the corset she was wearing blocked her from sitting up all the way. Damn the corsets. She hated the stupid death contraptions. Who came up with them any? Probably some man. They only show a girl's cleavage more and make their stomach tighter, making them unable to eat or do anything! It's annoying as hell!

Phoenix, with a lot of difficulty and probably a lot of pain, slowly stood up. She wobbled a bit, from the corset, but eventually found her footing and started walking over to the fireplace. She ran her fingers across it, collecting dust along the way. The fireplace had obviously not been used in a while, except for the areas the Doctor touched, where his hands had left prints in the dust.

But just then, the sound of gears could be heard, which made Phoenix jump back slightly. The fireplace started turning, revealing a slightly dazed Doctor. Phoenix smirked slightly.

"You just kissed Reinette, didn't you?" Phoenix questioned, grinning madly. Her voice made the Doctor jump and turn to her, eyes slightly wide.

"Uh…. No?" The Doctor tried, raising one eyebrow. Phoenix chuckled.

But there was this lingering feeling she had… one she couldn't explain. Not happiness, not sadness, not anger, not depression…

She was jealous. Phoenix. Was. Jealous. Ok, that wasn't supposed to happen. At all. What the hell? Phoenix took a deep breath and sucked it up, hiding any feelings she could have had. It wasn't in her place to be jealous. She didn't have anything to be jealous for.

"Well, Rose and Mickey wandered off somewhere. This would be the point in time I actually don't know where they went…" Phoenix said, clapping her hands together lightly, similar to the 11th Doctor. The Doctor grinned slightly, laughing on the inside.

"Every time…" He muttered, shaking his head slightly. Phoenix covered her mouth to hide her giggles.

"Its rule one. Don't wander off. I tell them, I do. Rule one." The Doctor said as they start walking through the corridor. They both stop abruptly as they notice the horse in front of them.

"Ooh, yay! We found Arthur! Hey Arthur!" Phoenix exclaimed, walking up to stroke the horse's silky white mane. Phoenix giggled slightly, smiling widely.

"Arthur? What kind of a name for a horse is that?" The Doctor questioned, frowning slightly. Phoenix rolled her eyes, and turned to the Doctor.

"The one you came up with." She mentioned, smirking slightly at his face.

He sighs, and continues on walking, searching for Rose and Mickey. Phoenix followed, and the horse followed her.

"Rose?" The Doctor calls, then turns to Arthur and frowned. "Will you stop following us?"

Phoenix walked past the Doctor and opened up a pair of intricate white doors, which made a creaking sound as she did. "So this is where you came from, eh, horsey?" She said, walking into the sunlight through the doors. The Doctor followed soon after, albeit a bit more hesitant.

They had stepped into a beautiful garden, with flowers and trees everywhere, and a white wall which the Doctor and Phoenix leaned on, looking out upon the grounds. At one point, Reinette turned her head toward them, which the Doctor ducks to avoid sight. But Phoenix stayed up-right, and wave, smiling.

Reinette waves back slightly, then turns back to talk with her friend.

Phoenix grinned slightly, before getting the Doctor back standing up and walking back into the ship through the white doors.

Phoenix's smile drops, replaced with a frown. She leans against the ship wall, arms crossed. "We had a lot of fun together. Told so many stories. Looked up at the stars every night. Her mum was strict when she was little, so I was the only fun company she had. I was a stowaway in her bedroom. Of course it was fun. Well, for me, as much fun as I could have in a child's bedroom in 1700's Paris." She said, and a tear slipped down her cheek slowly. Her eyes were gleamed over, lost in her own world. One of reenacting the memories with Reinette. Phoenix had quite a bit of fun with Reinette, between sneaking around to Phoenix telling stories of her travels, with things cut out of course. Phoenix knew more about Reinette than she ever thought she could have.

The Doctor stepped toward Phoenix and wrapped his arms around her, for comfort. She relaxed into his grip, feeling happy that someone was there for her. Even if it reminded her that one day the Doctor would love her. Although, she wasn't sure if she was exactly sad about that anymore… Seriously, if you got a chance to date the 10th Doctor, anyone would fucking do it.

But it had to end all too soon for Phoenix's preference. "We have to go find Rose and Mickey." The Doctor said softly in her ear, making shivers run lightly down Phoenix's spine.

"Yeah." Phoenix said lightly. The Doctor unwrapped his arms, and they both started walking in a completely random direction, hoping they would get there eventually.

"Blimey, look at this guy. Who does he think he is?"

"The king of France." The Doctor says as we both walk into the corridor with the see-through mirror. Anytime Phoenix thought of these, it made her shudder. Back in her universe, she had a lot of mirrors in her room, and well… changing and stuff. It made her paranoid.

"Oh, here's trouble. What you been up to?" Rose asks, rolling her eyes slightly.

"Oh, this and that. Became the imaginary friend of a future French aristocrat, picked a fight with a clockwork man…" The Doctor said, but gets interrupted by a neighing horse.

"Oh, and I met a horse." He adds. Phoenix rolls her eyes and sighs.

"I suppose I'll have to tell you the interesting part. He snogged Madame De Pompadour!" Phoenix exclaimed, laughing slightly.

Rose grinned. "Really? You snogged her? Oh sad I missed the show!" Rose said, laughing.

Then, through the see-through mirror, they see reinette walking in and curtsying to the kind of France.

"Time windows deliberately arranged along the life of one particular woman. A spaceship from the fifty first century stalking a woman from the eighteenth. Why?" The Doctor questioned, changing the subject from the kissing bit.

"Who is she?" Rose asked, raising an eyebrow and looking at the Doctor.

"The girl he snogged." Phoenix whispered in Rose's ear. She giggled.

"Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, also known to her friends as Reinette. One of the most accomplished women who ever lived." The Doctor said, pretending to not have heard what Phoenix whispered in Rose's ear. But both girls could tell he did.

"So has she got plans of being the Queen, then?" Rose questions, looking at Reinette and smirking.

"No, he's already got a Queen. She's got plans of being his mistress." Phoenix said, smiling. Good on Reinette.

"Oh, I get it. Camilla." Rose said, smirking.

"I think that this is the night they met. The night of the Yew Tree ball. In no time flat, she'll get herself established as his official mistress, with her own rooms at the palace. Even her own title. Madame de Pompadour." The Doctor said, a smile softly showing on his face.

Phoenix stared through the mirror sadly, as the King and Servants left, leaving Reinette behind to attend to her makeup. She had grown up a lot since she had last seen her. Phoenix smiled sadly, proud of Reinette, in a way.

"The Queen must have loved her." Rose remarked, raising her eyebrows slightly.

"Oh, she did. They got on very well." The Doctor retorted, smirking softly.

"The King's wife and the King's girlfriend?" Mickey commented, raising his eyebrows too.

"France. It's a different planet." The Doctor said, waving it off as the 'norm'.

"Oi! France is a lovely country, thank you." Phoenix said, crossing her arms and feigning offense.

The Doctor grins at her, making her pout slightly, but then she smiled, holding in giggles.

"Oh, that's right, you lived in France, didn't you? I think you told me that once…" Rose said, looking up as if she was thinking.

Then, the ticking of a clock began, and we all noticed the clock droid on the other side of the mirror. The Doctor stole Mickey's fire extinguisher, and rotated the mirror, walking through it with Phoenix following closely behind, and Rose and Mickey going after her.

"Hello Reinette. Hasn't time flown?" The Doctor remarked, smirking slightly.

"Hey Reinette! Haven't seen you in a long while. Well, actually, it hasn't been too long for me but for you… years I suppose." Phoenix said, grinning slightly at Reinette.

"Phoenix! Fireplace man!" Reinette exclaims, and goes up to hug Phoenix.

Phoenix laughs, and wraps her arms around Reinette, smiling brightly. She had missed this bit.

The Doctor than proceeded to spray the android with the fire extinguisher, rendering it… knocked out, sort of. Then he throws the fire extinguisher back to Mickey. The android creaks lightly.

"What's it doing?" Mickey asked, awkwardly holding the extinguisher in his hands.

"Switching back on. Melting the ice." Phoenix said, staring at the android slightly angry. It was trying to kill Reinette, of course she was going to be mad!

"And then what?" Mickey questioned, slightly frightened. Mickey was the one with the most questions on this adventure, wasn't he?

"Then it kills everyone in the room. Focuses the mind, doesn't it? Who are you? Identify yourself." The Doctor commanded, and when it doesn't work, turned to Reinette. "Order it to answer me."

"Why should it listen to me?" Reinette questioned, slightly confused.

"I don't know. It did when you were a child. Let's see if you've still got it." The Doctor said, winking and smiling.

Reinette took a deep breath and turned to the android, looking it in the eye. Well, the mask's eye. "Answer his question. Answer any and all questions put to you." Reinette ordered it sternly.

"I am repair droid seven." It said, in a very robotic voice. The creators of these didn't even try to hide the fact that they were robots.

"Real quick, sorry, I've always wanted to ask. Where did you get the costume?" Phoenix asked, grinning slightly.

"It came through the crack." The droid said plainly, but it had a lot more meaning to it than the others thought.

The… crack? But how? That's two times the crack had been mentioned! Why was it here, now? That didn't make sense! The Doctor just rolled his eyes at Phoenix's question.

"What happened to the ship, then? There was a lot of damage." The Doctor asked, frowning slightly.

"Ion Storm. Eight two percent systems failure." The droid said.

"That ship hasn't moved in over a year. What's taken you so long?" The Doctor questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"We did not have the parts." It simply stated.

"What happened to the crew? Where are they?" The Doctor exclaimed, really confused now.

"We did not have the parts." The Droid repeats.

Phoenix's face downfalls, and she shudders. She had forgotten that part. Using the crew for the ship… it's disgusting, not to mention inhuman. But it really wasn't the robot's fault, considering it was the mechanics who didn't program them correctly to not attack humans or aliens.

"There should have been over fifty people on your ship. Where did they go?" The Doctor questions, oblivious to Phoenix's apparent sudden shuddering.

"We did not have the parts." The Droid stats again.

"Fifty people don't just disappear. Where…" The Doctor said, but his face downfalls too as he realized what that meant. "Oh. You didn't have the parts, so you used the crew."

"The crew?" Mickey questioned, eyes wide.

"You guys found a heart hooked up the machinery, did you not? And the eyeballs hooked up in the camera. It's disgusting, using the crew for the ship. But these androids were programmed to fix the ship in any way it could, and no one took crew off the list." Phoenix said, looking at the droid in slight disgust.

"What did you say the flight desk smelt of?" The Doctor asked Rose, frowning slightly.

"Someone cooking." Rose said, her face dropping too, as she finally realized what it meant.

"Flesh plus heat. Barbeque. But what are you doing here? You've opened up time windows. That takes colossal energy. Why come here? You could have gone to your repair yard. Instead you came to eighteenth century France? Why?" The Doctor questioned.

"One more part is required." It said again. The monotone repeating was getting annoying as hell.

"Then why haven't you taken it?" The Doctor asked, frowning slightly.

"She is incomplete." The Droid said. Phoenix rolled her eyes, extremely annoyed and somewhat angry.

"What, so, that's the plan, then. Just keep opening up more and more time windows, scanning her brain, checking to see it she's done yet." The Doctor exclaims, slightly mad. He was friends with Reinette to, somewhat.

"Why her? You've got all of history to choose form. Why specifically her?" Rose questioned, frowning deeply in thought.

"We are the same." The Droid stated. Phoenix rolled her eyes. Are you sure about that?

"We are not the same. We are in no sense the same!" Reinette exclaimed, talking for the first time in a little while. Phoenix imagined Reinette would be pretty mad, being compared to a rusty old machine killing things and putting them inside a ship!

"We are the same." It repeats, insisting almost.

"Get out of here! Get out of here this instant!" Reinette exclaims at the android, mad.

"Reinette, no." The Doctor tried, weakly, but the droid teleported away anyways.

"It's back on the ship. Rose, take Mickey and Arthur. Get after it. Follow it. Don't approach it, just watch was it does." The Doctor said, pointing toward the mirror.

"Arthur?" Rose questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"It's the horse's name! Now scoot!" Phoenix exclaimed, pushing them toward the mirror. They go through it, and Phoenix closed it behind them.

"Reinette, you're going to have to trust me. I need to find out what they're looking for. There's only one way I can do that. It won't hurt a bit." The Doctor said, placing his hands on the sides of Reinette's face and starting the mind meld. Phoenix grinned. This was the cool part!

"Fireplace man, you are inside my mind." Reinette stated, slightly shocked, though she was hiding it well.

"Oh dear, Reinette. You've had some cowboys in here." The Doctor said, frowning slightly.

"You are in my memories. You walk among them." Reinette said, almost in amazement.

"If there's anything you don't want me to see, just imagine a door and close it. I won't look. Oh, actually there's a door just there. You might want to cl… Oh, actually, several." The Doctor said, slightly wincing every time a door appeared.

"To walk among the memories of another living soul. Do you ever get used to this?" Reinette asked the Doctor.

"I don't making a habit of it." The Doctor said, slightly cross.

"How can you resist?" Reinette asked, smirking. Phoenix smirked too. Oh god knows how Reinette.

"What age are you?" The Doctor questioned. Phoenix was pretty sure he didn't realize how that sounded.

"So impertinent a question so early in the conversation. How promising." Reinette said, still smirking. Wasn't she going for the King of France though?

"No, not my question, theirs. You're twenty three and for some reason, that means you're not old enough. Sorry, you might find old memories reawakening. Side effect." The Doctor said, as Reinette's face starts scrunching up slightly in sadness. She sort of looked like she was in pain.

"Oh, such a lonely childhood." Reinette said, with a frown on her face.

"It'll pass. Stay with me." The Doctor said.

"Oh, Doctor. So lonely. So very, very alone. Except the flame hidden inside your heart that you treasure dearly." Reinette said sadly.

The Doctor immediately broke the connection, and stared wide-eyed at Reinette. "When did you start calling me Doctor?"

"Such a lonely little boy. Although less lonely now than before. How did you bear it?" Reinette questioned, staring sadly at the Doctor.

"How did you do that?" The Doctor asked, looking confused.

"A door, once opened, can be stepped through in either direction. Oh Doctor. My lonely Doctor. Dance with me." Reinette said, sticking out her hand for The Doctor.

Phoenix leaned against a wall, watching the exchange. You know, she was still here…

"I can't" The Doctor said slowly.

"Dance with me." Reinette commanded, smirking slightly.

"This is the night you dance with the King." The Doctor said, frowning.

"Then first, I shall make him jealous!" Reinette said in a playful tone.

"I can't." The Doctor said again.

"Doctor. Doctor who? It's more than just a secret, isn't it?" Reinette questioned, staring into the Doctor's eyes.

"What did you see?" The Doctor asked, his eyes a little wider than before. No one was supposed to know his name, ever. Well, except for one person, but she was a huge exception.

"That there comes a time, Timelord, where every lonely little boy must learn how to dance." Reinette said, leading him toward the door, but suddenly stopped and turned around, facing Phoenix.

"Oh, don't think we forgot you Phoenix. Don't worry, you can dance with him all you want when I'm done with him." Reinette said, grinning. Phoenix stared at her, shocked. "Come on then."

Phoenix slowly smirked, but then said, "I would need a dress first of course."

"That can be arranged…" Reinette said, smiling brightly.

Eventually, Phoenix had gotten the dress Reinette had picked out for her on. It was a big dress, similar to Reinette's, except for it was blue and silver. She had absolutely loved it, except for the corset bit. God, she hated whoever came up with those stupid contraptions.

Phoenix walked out into the room where the Doctor was waiting, and he immediately gawked at her. She smirked slightly.

"Like what you see?" Phoenix flirted, twirling.

The Doctor immediately blushed, and then mutters, "You look very beautiful."

Phoenix smiled and curtsied, then said, "Well thank you. Now, shall we dance?"

He held out his arm, and Phoenix took it. They both smiled at each other, before stepping forward into the crazy French party.

The party… well, it was amazing. There was a lot of wine, dancing, bananas, and fun. Phoenix thought it was quite funny, watching the Doctor dance with all the girls. He really was a lady charmer. Phoenix also danced with a lot of people, including the king of France himself. The Doctor seemed pretty mad at that one. But hey, she was going to kiss and have as much fun as she could before she 'supposedly' started dating the Doctor.

Yay! Reinette! God, I've always loved this episode even though it's extremely sad for me :( My favorite part would have to be the Doctor kissing Reinette, even if it didn't end up in the story here. The crack bit was really important though, so sorry if you really like the kissing scene! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed!
