Hey Everyone,
I know this isn't a chapter, but I wanted to say this on the small platform I have here.
Last Sunday a tragedy occurred. At a club in Orlando, someone killed roughly fifty people and injured fifty more. Sadly, this act of terrosim was a hate crime against people of the LGBTQ community.
I don't know every detail of what took place that fateful night, but I do know that hatred and violence don't ever solve problems. Yes, people may disagree on some issues. Some people might not exactly understand what is like to walk in the shoes of a
gay man, but cold-hearted murder doesn't give understanding.
Murder does not solve problems.
I'm not asking people to understand or agree a 100% with the LGBTQ community.I'm asking people to understand that progress cannot be made for anyone unless we have some inkling ofrespect. Every person, regardless of who they are or who the
love, deserves respect and kindness. We cannot discuss these serious and important issues unless we have some level of respect. Obviously, having respect for one another does not entail hatred. Yes, let's talk and maybe disagree on the issues peacefully,
but we cannot do that until we look past all these unimportant things and see humans as people who deserve love and respect. Don't see people as a race, sexual orientation, religion, or gender.
Although this is a sad time for America, remember that there is a grace too powerful to name.
As The Vision says "there is grace in their failings."
It's hard to imagine a fellow person committing this act of hatred, but remember to fight for a better world and to fight for more love.
Please remember that.
