Melody slammed through the BPD outer door into the bright afternoon. Not only had Vincent turned her down for a loan, he had the nerve to flaunt his new girlfriend - the mouthy one.
If Vincent thought he was going to get away with this, he had another thing coming. She would make him pay for this defiance and bring him back to heel. As she started down the steps, her eyes landing on the perfect patsy. She arranged her face in suitable distress.
"Angela!"
Angela Rizzoli turned toward the voice and smiled. "Melody..." She shifted gears as she caught Melody's expression. "Oh honey, what's wrong?"
Melody hurried down the steps to her. "Angela, it's awful - Vincent is running around with a younger woman!" Angela wrapped her arm around Melody's shoulders and Melody leaned into her for support."
"I gave the best years of my life to him Angela, ten long years, I built a family and a home for him. We were apart for a while, but I came back and we were making it work! I had hope that we could be a family again, like Vince always said he wanted - what I always wanted. To make a good home for Josh. But now..." she covered her face with her hands and choked up a little, "now he's found someone else! Someone younger! And he was cold to me, Angela, it was a side of him I've never seen before."
Angela hugged Melody and patted her on the back. "Men! They're so frustrating! We give up our lives and our careers for them to make a home, and then they go and behave like this. I'm so sorry. I don't know how he could not want to be with you - you look so good and work so hard at keeping fit."
Melody sobbed a bit. "Thank you...I know you went through this with Frank, when he chased a younger woman. It's so hard - men can go gray and gain weight as they age, but women have to look young and thin, or they get traded in for a newer model." Melody side-eyed Angela to see if she was taking the bait.
Angela patted Melody firmly on the back. "You take heart honey, I'm gonna go give Vince a piece of my mind. He can't treat you this way and get away with it."
Melody wiped her eyes. "Oh Angela, that's too much to ask of you. I know Jane and Vince work together. But I worry how Vince's coldness to me will affect Josh, and he's been through so much."
Angela side-hugged Melody. "Don't you worry - I believe in speaking my mind, particularly when one of my friends is hurt. I've watched how hard you worked to repair things with Vince for Josh, and now Vince goes and does this. Who does he think he is!"
Melody hid a smile as Angela turned and stormed up the steps. Mission part one accomplished.
