Chapter Eleven
Sora couldn't help holding his head to reduce the headache he had coming right now. Not only was Lanna and Jake taken by Xigbar to rescue Matthew, which he is grateful for, but now he finds out that Xemnas might have plans for her?! This is just not his day, he could see Riku and Kairi wasn't much better at the news. None of them understanding or able to guess what Xemnas would plan for her, while Chris and Jill have been trying to think of anything that'd be a reason. Chris and Jill both going over protect mode the moment Lanna told them about that as they all waited for Xigbar to bring Jake back.
"Couldn't you just make Xigbar tell us, Sora? You killed him once right?" Chris asks Sora after taking a break from his theory guessing. Sora shook his head sadly knowing while he could kill him, making Xigbar tell him what he wants is different.
"I can kill him yes, but making him talk is not that easy and he usually says some weird stuff. Plus that's assuming he doesn't try to run and trust me when I say only Riku and I are strong enough to fight him head to head. With everyone else here, I'm worried he might target you to distract us from capturing him." Sora says letting Chris know why attacking the moment he gets back is a bad idea.
Lanna looked at Sora and the others, sighing a bit. "Guys as much as I want to know why the dork wants me, we still have my parents to save as well as beat Wesker and Maleficent," she said. Jill frowned a bit. "Lanna, this is serious," she said. "From what Sora has told of us, he isn't someone to mess with."
"Don't you think I know that?" Lanna said, staring at her aunt. "I am not deaf or stupid, you have taught me better than that and you also taught me to handle the problem at hand."
"As much as I hate to say this, Lanna is right. We need to focus on rescuing the Kennedy parents right now." Riku says cutting in as he looks at Ada, "How much time do we have left before Wesker's execution schedule?"
Ada sighed. "We have fifty minutes to get there," she said, looking a bit concerned and looked at the others. "If you thought we were on a time crunch before when saving Lanna, we're in it much worse."
"Damn! This is bad..." Riku curses as Kairi puts a comforting and supportive hand on his shoulder. Giving a gentle squeeze in hopes of easing Riku's mind, before a dark corridor appeared with Braig carrying Jake through it. Once out #2, as everyone knows him as, lets Jake stumble to his feet and looks at Sora knowingly.
"Hey, there, Sora, you been a good boy lately?" Braig asks despite the glares aimed at him from Sora, Riku, and Kairi.
"I should be asking you that. What's your game in all of this, Xigbar? We aren't allies of Organization XIII and you guys tried killing us in the past. Endangering multiple worlds by unleashing the heartless on them, then collecting those same hearts the heartless stole once I killed the heartless." Sora says with a warning tone ready to fight him, but Braig only laughs it off.
"As if I'd tell you our plans, Sora. All you need to know is that we needed you alive, not dead. True, I was playing hard ball with the intent to kill, but honestly I wanted you to kill me back then. After all, you still aren't quite on the level we needed you to be yet compared to the other keybearers. Now those guys were the real deal." Braig says remembering Ventus, Terra, and Aqua. Those three were truly skilled. Both Terra and Aqua worthy of being called masters and Ventus not too far behind them.
"Cut the crap and tell us what you know!" Chris said pulling Jake's gun as he wasn't looking, much to Jake's annoyance and slight anger, aiming it right at Braig's head. Only for him to look at Chris like he was child playing superhero as a smirk formed on his face.
"Oh no! Is the big bad soldier gonna shoot me with a peashooter? Oh I'm so in danger!" Braig mocks Chris making the BSAA founder growl in annoyance before shooting him, "Xigbar's" head barely recoils as the bullet flattens against his skull. Then casually brushes the bullet off like one would dust. Now giving Chris a bored look. "Look, pal, that may work on zombies, but it's not as effective against someone with superhuman level endurance like Sora or me."
Lanna sweatdropped as Sherry ran to Jake, worried about him. Jill looked at her husband, standing next to him and glared at Xigbar or #2 as he preferred to be called as she held Elly in her arms. Kairi stayed near Riku as Donald and Goofy looked uneasy about the whole thing.
Lanna pinched the bridge of her nose, breathing slowly as she looked at the scene. "Guys, I hate to butt in, but WE can't afford to be fighting right now," she said, sounding exhausted. "We wouldn't have found my brother without his help, as much as most of you probably hate to admit and we have found out vital information, even if it is lacking in areas. We need to keep it together." She looked at her baby brother who was looking around every where with a curious look. "Fighting each other won't solve anything."
Kairi looked at Lanna and frowned. "Yeah...after this, we have some unsolved matters as well," she said stiffly. Lanna leveled a cool look. "That we do," she said but didn't lose her anger surprisingly.
"Little red's right...We need to hurry or Claire and Leon will die" Jake said giving his wife an appreciative smile for her help as he got to his feet properly. Man he hated the feeling the dark corridor does to a person's heart, but was glad he was alive at least. He had a feeling once Wesker found out Matthew was gone, he was gonna be really pissed.
"So let's go guys, Ada, can you lead the way. We got an hour left and counting" Jake says looking at Ada since she's someone who can keep a cool tactical mind better than anyone else right now.
Ada nodded. "Let's go. Lanna, up with me," she said as she knew she would need the girls abilities with the sniper rifle. Lanna nodded as she grabbed her rifle and headed to join the older woman. "Donald, Goofy, watch our backs. Jill and Chris don't have weapons." The duo nodded, looking grim but ready for a fight.
"Speaking of that, Chris, keep the Samurai Edge just in case. I'll use my AK-47 and Elephant Killer, you need something to protect yourself and backup Donald and Goofy" Jake says earning a thankful nod from Chris as Jill held a relieved Elly in her arms. The little girl hugging her mom's neck like it was her lifeline. Not that anyone could blame the poor kid after such a nightmare of a day they've all had.
"I'll back up Lanna and Ada. Riku, Kairi, I need you two to to watch out Jake's and my own back as we are the first wave. You guys are the second. We'll look after each other" Sora says to his friends and gives Jake a nod. Jake returning it with a smirk ready to help with the rescue.
Ada led them down the second hallway, leading them deeper under ground. The arena where the last fight would be. Sherry held little Matthew in her arms, staying close to the others. A rickety staircase greeted them and Ada looked at Lanna. "Head up" she said. "Let us know when you looked things over."
"I will," Lanna said, climbing the stairs slowly, making her steps light, barely touching the wood. Jill held onto her daughter as they watched Lanna disappear into the darkness. The minutes seem to draw on and everything was deadly silent. The silence was soon broken as a loud scream came and a dead infected landed at their feet before three more fell on top of him, their bodies dissolving. "Lanna?" Sherry called out, worried. "It's safe!" Lanna called out.
Everyone sighed in relief at that, though Sora's relief was the easiest to read, and made their way toward Lanna. Jake checked the clock on his phone and saw it was 45 minutes left till dawn, they didn't have a lot of time. Unknown to them, Braig was behind them in the shadows watching and waiting for his chance to complete his mission.
Lanna could feel the urgency in their steps and in their faces. Time is becoming short. Their steps echoed through the large room. The smell of fire burning and ash greeted them. They were getting close to the arena. Elly whimpered, holding onto her mother. Sherry looked at Jake. "The final battle?"
They still had a few hallways to move through but they needed to hurry.
"Yeah, this is it." Jake said before hearing a roar behind them, looking back several people paled seeing the Nemesis G type was chasing them and it was changed from last time. Now looking like a fleshy wolf with organs and eyes balls showing on multiple parts of it's body. Worse was that it was the size of a BSAA jeep barreling right for them.
"Run! We can't waste time fighting this creature!" Jake calls for the others as everyone starts sprinting.
"What is that thing?!" Kairi asks as she ran after the others, hearing the monster running after them. "That's the B.O.W. that Riku and Sora were fighting!" Ada said as the loud footfalls felt like mini earthquakes, causing the others to loose their balance almost as they ran.
"How the heck is it alive?! I know for certain we hit it with enough force to stop the regeneration!" Sora asks Riku who only gave him a stern glare. "Why are you asking me?! I'm just as lost as you are!"
"Cut the chatter and keep running everyone! We need to get somewhere open to fight back or at least stop this thing from following us!" Chris shouts at the two teens making them shut up from his tone alone. It was like an angry father and a commander on the battlefield.
"Uncle!" Lanna said, pointing to a larger room that had enough room to fight. "Will that work?" She looked at Chris, hearing the beast behind them. Matthew woke up and started wailing, waving his tiny arms. It caught the monster's attention and it roared hungrily. Sherry held the baby to her, trying to ease the baby and quiet him down. Not an easy thing to do when running for your life from a mutated B.O.W.
"It'll have to do, once in, everyone scatter in different directions. Donald and Goofy will be protecting Jill and Sherry as they have the kids" Chris orders checking the Samurai Edge Jake had given him and fires on the beast while running. Hitting one of it's eyes and gets the beast to slow down a bit from the pain.
"Okay!" Kairi said nodding as Ada ran into the room with Lanna and the girls right behind them with Donald and Goofy at their heels, leading them away from the fight. The boys joined the others, scattering as Chris ordered, knowing they needed to work together in order to beat this thing.
"We can't afford to waste time, so let's take this sucker out! Hard and fast with no hesitation!" Chris orders as the beast charges out toward Chris as he fires at it's eyes. The creature growling in pain and flinching with each hit before lunging for Chris. He quickly rolls away to the side barely avoiding it's claws. It lands on all fours only to roar in pain as Sora stabs it as he jumps on it's back. Taking out an eye on the back and hanging on for dear life as it starts thrashing and bucking. As Riku attacks it's eyes on the sides to keep it's focus divided.
Chris seeing the beast distracted looks at Lanna and Ada. "Ada, Lanna! Give some support fire when you can, but don't endanger yourselves or the others!"
"Okay!" Ada said nodding as she gripped her gun and shot at an eye, taking it out. Lanna gripped her gun, shooting out another eye, seeing the greenish blood spurting out of the wounds, the monster roaring in plain and thrashing around. Lanna looked back towards her aunt and family, worried about them.
"Let's finish this, Riku!"
"Right!" Riku calls back as Sora and Riku both charge toward the beast slashing it from two different directions.
"Ars Arcanum!" Sora shouts unleashing multiple slashes that are blurs of light and movement. Striking the beast over and over breaking the bones in it's body.
"Chaos Breaker!" Riku shouts surrounding his keyblade in light and unleashing a spinning slash on the beast, before surrounding it in darkness and slashing the beast again. The B.O.W. stumbles about weakly from the blows only to cry out in further pain as Jake fired Light aura enhanced bullets into the creature with his Elephant Killer.
Lanna fired her own light aura bullets at the creature with her Glock, seeing the monster stumble back and cry in pain, bleeding heavily from the wounds it was sustaining from the attacks that were coming from all directions. It stumbled, only a small handful of eyes left on it's body. Ada shot an explosive arrow into an eye, making two more explode from the explosive.
"It should be dead soon!" Ada said. Lanna shook her head. "That's what we thought the last time!"
"Riku! Knock it into the air!" Sora asks charging up his fire magic element to the limit. He wasn't fully used to this magic attack yet, but he knew it could end this. Riku seeing Sora was up to something did as he was told. Dodging a swipe from the B.O.W.'s claws and sliding under it, before sending it flying high in the sky as Riku slash upwards with all his strength.
"Now Sora!"
"Mega Flare!" Sora shouts as he unleashed a giant ball of fire as big as a tank toward the airborne monstrosity. It's few remaining eyes widening at the size of fiery death heading right for it.
BOOM!
Everyone braced themselves against the explosive force that send a fierce wind and flame around the stadium. None of them were hurt by it thankfully, but they could all feel the lingering heat it left behind. It felt like being in a desert and made everyone sweat a little and try to shield their faces from the heat. Once the explosion wore off. They saw a charred human size corpse drop on the other side of the room hit the ground with a heavy thud. Blood spilling out of the corpse as they could smell the cooked meat it's cooked corpse gave off.
"Ugh...I'm pretty sure it's dead after that or it better be..." Riku said fanning in front of his nose to avoid smelling it. Due to his sensitive nose, he was smelling it more easily than the others and he was hating it right now.
"Are you sure?" Lanna asked, walking towards the smoldering corpse, looking it over slowly and nudged it with her boot. She looked at the others, looking a bit nervous. "We thought it was dead the last time as well as the Claire clone." She winced, remembering how she thought it was her mother.
"We got no time to guess, we have to get moving now or we'll be too late." Chris says as Sora and Riku nod in determination to save Claire and Leon.
"Hero's right guys, we got thirty five minutes left!" Jake shouts to the others as he sees the time till dawn on his phone.
"Let's go then!" Sherry said, not wanting her long time friends to die. Lanna nodded and ran down the hallway with Ada at her heels. The others ran after them. The hallway twisted and shifted, their footfalls echoing loudly as music blared from speakers as they entered a large room, half the size of a football field. In the middle of the field was a cage with Leon and Claire.
"Mom! Dad!" Lanna called out to them, relief washing over her as she saw her parents. She headed down the stairs, not hearing the warning from her family.
"Lanna!" Jill called out, seeing the teen rush in.
"Hang on Claire, we're coming! Lanna wait up!" Chris calls to his sister and daughter respectively. Rushing toward the cage behind Lanna with Jill beside him.
"Kairi, Donald, Goofy! Guard Sherry, Matthew, and Elly! Riku and Jake, you two are with me! Maleficent and Wesker must be here somewhere!" Sora calls to his friends getting nods of agreement from Jake and Riku. All three rushing toward the cage with Kairi, Donald, and Goofy moving with caution around Sherry, Elly, and Matthew. Sherry doing her best to calm the crying baby. Which easily got Claire and Leon's attention.
"Matthew...Is he okay, Sherry?!" Leon says surprised before shouting to the girl he's seen as his daughter in all but blood.
Sherry looked at Leon and nodded. "He's fine! Lanna and Jake were able to rescue him," she reassured the man that was like a dad to her. "What about you? Are you and Claire alright?" she asked, worried. Ada was working on opening the cage for the parents, seeing the relief on their faces when they saw the baby. Claire felt joy rush through her as she saw her baby and Sherry was safe, as well as the others. Ada broke the lock and opened the door, letting the veteran fighters out. Claire rushed out to hug Sherry and the baby.
Leon was soon behind her as Claire and Leon dearly held Sherry and Matthew close to them, Claire cooing to the crying baby who had been woken up, crying tears of joy and love upon seeing her little angel in her arms. Leon watched on proudly and with love at the sight as he held Sherry and Claire close. Sora couldn't help the small watering in his eyes at the sight, but quickly blinked away the tears. He had no time to admire the scene sadly, cause he knew Wesker was around here somewhere.
Jake and Chris both staying on guard as they kept their positions near Claire, Leon, Sherry, and Matthew. Jill was protect Elly with Donald and Goofy as they gave the family some space for their reunion.
"We're fine, Sherry...we're fine now, thanks to you all" Leon said honestly and gratefully as he looked at them all. His life may have been full of bumps on the road and hard trials, but he was glad he lived it now. Seeing all of these people he'd call his family save him, his wife, and his newborn son. Both parents felt pride seeing Lanna approach the family and quickly hugged her into their circle.
"Thank God you're okay, Lanna. I'd never forgive myself if you had died here or become one of the infected..." Leon told his daughter sincerely kissing the top of her head like he used to do to her as a kid. Both Claire and himself holding her like a lifeline as Lanna held them equally as tight.
Lanna shook in her parent's arms, tears running down her cheeks as she held onto them tightly. "Mom...dad..." she said, her voice quivering. "There had been so many times...I wanted to give up, to give in...and there had been times when I did turn..." She looked up at them, feeling slight shame but it was pushed away. Remembering the people that had helped her through it all. She looked at Sora, Ada, Kairi, Riku, Jake and Donald and Goofy.
"I wouldn't be here, if not for them. They gave me the strength to continue. The clone...I thought it was mom..." She said as Claire held her close.
"Hush," Claire said looking at her daughter proudly. "You found out it was a clone, but you did the right thing." Lanna looked confused as Claire continued. "You were faced with a terrible decision, one that is not easily made, even as a civilian or an agent. Lanna, you pulled the trigger even if it hurt you but I'm glad you did."
"They're right, Lanna, you did no wrong. If anything, I'm the one who should apologize," Jake says walking up to Claire and Leon with shame in his eyes. "I'm sorry for not being able to stop Lanna from getting involved, for her getting hurt at times on this mission, and especially for her getting infected by the plaga. Lanna was repeatedly put in danger because of me and you have every right to be pissed at me for it all. I just hope you'll forgive me for failing you two so badly when I was trying to rescue you. If it wasn't for Sora and the others... we would've been dead a long time ago, I couldn't even kill Wesker when I fought him..." Jake says with remorse as he waits for them to lash out, scream at him, hit him, glare at him, anything. In his mind he deserved it all and more for endangering the only people he's come to see as his family in so long.
Sora, Riku, and Chris all look at Jake with sad looks knowing how he felt. Yet, as much as they wanted to tell him not to blame himself. They felt it their place to say it first, it was the very family he was apologizing to that had to be the one to say their peace.
Claire looked at Jake and walked towards him. She wrapped a free arm around the man and hugged him tightly. "Jake, do not blame yourself," she said. "You saved her and kept her safe, but you also made her stronger. You're family, Jake, and you're like a son to us. You helped raise Lanna, teaching her everything she could learn, things we couldn't teach her." She looked at Jake, smiling. Lanna looked up at Jake and smiled, nodding.
"Though believe me, Jake, we will have a talk about that cursing habit she picked up from you" Leon said with a dark smirk making Jake pale with a nervous look. "That reminds me...didn't he have a bet about controlling his cursing, dear?" Leon said enjoying the chance to mess with Jake a little. Crap, Jake had hoped they'd let him slide on his cursing habit during this mess...
While Jake was sweating a bit, Sora and Riku were looking around. Both wondering where Wesker and Maleficent was as they could sense them nearby, but not yet making themselves known. The big question on their minds being why, were they waiting for something?
Sherry chuckled softly as she watched the family, shaking her head. Lanna smiled as she looked at Sora and Riku, seeing the looks on their faces and frowned a bit. Kairi and Ada had the same worried look on their faces. Looking around, Lanna felt something move off to the right of Chris. "No..." she said and picked up a rock from the ground, throwing it passed Chris. There was a cry of pain as Wesker stumbled backwards, grunting.
"Tsk...I didn't expect anyone to see me," Wesker said smirking.
"Wesker!" Sora shouted summoning his keyblade, not seeing Maleficent summon lightning down on the boy, but Riku did as he barely pushed both himself and Sora out of the line of fire. The ground cracking and glowing from the power of the lightning bolt slamming into the earth. Both quickly got up and got back to back facing their opponents.
"Keep your guard up, Sora! They're stronger this time and we can't afford to screw up here." Riku warns his childhood friend and brother in all but blood. Eyeing Maleficent with a glare that she returned with equal intensity, both wanting the other dead.
"I know, Riku, you don't have to remind me." Sora says never taking his eyes off of Wesker with Sora's eyes flashing yellow as he felt Anti Form roaring in anger at the bastard. Still sore he hurt Lanna and caused so much pain. Not to mention being the only foe that has escaped Anti and lived to tell the tale so far. Something Sora and Anti both want to correct.
Claire held her baby against her, watching the scene. "Leon..." she said and bit her lower lip. "Don't worry mom," Lanna said, glaring at Wesker and Maleficent. "We can do this."
Kairi and Ada nodded in agreement. "We have to be careful as well."
"Wesker...!" Chris snarled the name in hatred about to shoot the man before Jake stopped him, surprising Chris and about to demand an explanation. Only for Jake to cut him off with a harsh glare and his own words. "Cool yourself, hero, I know you and Wesker have a lot of history, but attacking like that will get you killed. As much as I hate to say it, even with my light training I was barely able to stand my ground against Wesker as he is. That darkness is too dangerous for us to fight recklessly and the only ones here who stand a chance is Sora and Riku." Jake tries to explain to the furious father and founder of the BSAA, which he can't blame said anger for.
"So we just sit back and do nothing!" Chris demands pissed at Jake, he knew Jake was a lot of things, but he never figured him the type to back down when it counted. Especially against the monster who made their lives hell for so long.
"I never said that, now stop cutting me off!" Jake shouts back silencing the hero as Jake took a breath to calm himself. "I'm saying all we can do is back up Sora and Riku, so wait for a chance when they're distracted."
"He's right, Chris," Jill said, not liking this at all as Wesker and Maleficent had a staring contest with the boys, glaring and daring the other to make the first move. "Wesker isn't the same as the one we fought all those years ago." She remembered the day they had finished him off in the volcano. It was gratifying and a happy event for the group that day, but it all came crashing down when they found out that the witch brought him back.
"We have to believe in them," Lanna said softly, watching, but clearly worried about them. As the darkness around Wesker seem to take on it's own life
"Kairi! Make sure to protect the parents and our friends. They've suffered enough as it is and I don't want them caught in the crossfire." Riku asks Kairi not taking his eyes off Maleficent as Sora nods in agreement. They've all suffered more than any normal powerless people should. Though technically Jake and Lanna were far from powerless now, they were out of their league against Wesker as he is.
"Jake, Lanna, I know you two want to help, but please focus on your family and the Redfields protection. They'll need you to keep them safe as we handle these guys. Donald, Goofy, be ready for Master Form. I think we're gonna need it this time." Sora advises his friends without taking his eyes off Wesker. He learned how ruthless this guy is and even a single second of losing sight could prove deadly. Though it surprised Sora how quiet he was being, but he knew that Wesker was waiting for the same thing he was.
An opening to reveal itself in their guards.
Sora hadn't felt this on guard except against people like Cloud, Leon, and even Tifa. Say what you want, but that lady can really send a mean right hook and is an expert on hand to hand combat. Sora still remembered how Tifa sent a heartless flying for making her lose track of Cloud. That was the one time he almost pitied a heartless, almost.
Lanna nodded, grunting a bit. 'Alright" she said, a bit reluctantly and looked at Jake. Her hands twitched at her side, looking at the others. The only ones that had a weapon was Chris, Ada, Kairi, Sherry, Jake and herself, leaving her parents, her aunt and the rest of the family unarmed. She breathed slowly.
Wesker smirked as he summoned his blade. "Let the last fight begin.." he said and looked at Maleficent. "It's time we end this battle for good." He wasn't cocky, more confident than anything else.
"I couldn't agree more, Wesker, it's time to remove these thorns in our sides for good!" Maleficent said before shouting at the end. A Storm Cloud hovering over them before green thunder rains down on them. Sora and Riku splitting to avoid the strike and charge toward their respective opponents.
"Power!" Sora calls as a sphere of crystal-like light surrounded Sora as his clothes glowed. Donald and Goofy turning into orbs of power that flew inside his body as the sphere broke. Sora's clothes now black and yellow in design with two keyblades in hand again. The new keyblade by his side was Hero's Crest for it's power involving aerial combat.
A perfect keyblade for this form in Sora's opinion.
"I hope you're ready, Wesker, cause I plan to make you pay for all the suffering you've caused" Sora told Wesker with no smile on his face, but a look of determination to end the chaos Wesker was causing. If Wesker kept going on, more would only be dragged into this nightmare and Sora wouldn't let that happen.
Wesker lost his smirk, eyes narrowing behind his sunglasses. "Yes, we will see," he said and growled. "Power!" He threw his blade into the air as a dark orb surrounded him. He started to grow and took on the form that Chris and Jill were familiar with. It was his Uroboros form but he looked to be in more control now and his eyes glowed pure yellow.
Jill held Elly against her. "Oh no..." she said, her eyes wide.
This made Sora raise an eyebrow at the new form of Wesker's. It was no drive form like his own, but it's power was comparable to Master Form. Making Sora narrow his eyes as that would only leave Final Form as his only unknown form to Wesker. A part of him worried Wesker might match that somehow. Maleficent surely knew of it after all and wouldn't let Wesker fight alone unless she believed he could win.
Chancing a glance to Riku's battle with Maleficent. He could see Riku was having a hard time hitting Maleficent as she kept teleporting out of his slashing range. Before raining Thunder bolts down on him, forcing Riku to use his barriers and fire Dark Firagas at her. Making their battle turn into a long range spell casting fight. He looked back in time to dodge a strike from Wesker's extending arm by jumping over it. "Firaga!" Sora shouts launching himself forward cloaked in three rings of fire that slam into Wesker. The man grunts in pan as he lashes out at Sora as he's still in midair with his non mutated arm holding his gunblade, Hidden Death. Only for Sora to barely dodge it by jumping in midair with a spin. Putting distance between them as Sora lands on his feet ten feet away from Wesker.
"Looks like I'm not the only one with new tricks anymore" Sora idly remarks toward Wesker as both circle each other, the explosions in the background from Riku and Maleficent's fight never disturbing them. Ready for any attacks from the other at a moments notice.
Wesker pulled off his sunglasses, tossing them to the side. "Maybe," he said, his whole right arm surrounded in black tentacles. On his chest was bright glowing yellowish sword. "All the more to kill you and your wretched friends. I'm surprised you managed to find the family and save Lanna, but no matter." He moved towards him slowly, his tentacles slithering and lashing out at Sora.
"Now...die!" Black snake like tentacles lashed out at Sora, trying to disarm him as they kept lashing out at the teen. Wesker growled, teeth gnashed together.
"Not today!" Sora shoots back as he deflects the strikes and dodge rolls away from three trying to pincer him. Quickly getting to his feet, he lunges toward Wesker as his magic coats his keyblade in ice. "Freeze!" Sora shouts slamming into Wesker's hidden death that he hastily guards with. Only to get hit by the ice shooting from the tip of the keyblades aimed at his chest. His chest experiencing the chilling sensation as his body froze for a second. Only for his dark aura to break the ice and free a panting Wesker, who dodges a follow up strike from Sora's keyblade.
"Don't expect my magic to attack the same way it use to Wesker! Master Form is the mastery of my current abilities!" Sora says deflecting hidden death and jumping to avoid another blow. Slashing at Wesker while in midair four times, only to be forced to use Aerial Dodge to avoid the long tentacles trying to sneak up on him and lands only a few feet from Wesker to block the edge of his hidden death gunblade.
Wesker smirked as he landed on his feet, staring at Sora. "I see..." he said and slammed his gunblade into the ground as a shockwave spread out everywhere, leaving cracks in the ground, making Lanna and the others stumble from the force as black tentacles broke from the broken ground and started to spin rapidly, creating a suction of air, pulling Sora in.
"Sora!"
A light bullet went sailing and hit Wesker in the forehead, stopping the attack and giving Sora an opening as Lanna lowered her gun. She had heard about that attack from Chris. It could kill if one wasn't careful.
Sora seeing the opening charges in and jumps with a front flip to slash at Wesker with his keyblades, before chaining together an aerial barrage that juggle Wesker in the air. "You're finished!" Sora calls spinning in the air as Wesker found himself caught in the force of Sora's strange attack. Spinning him around Sora as the keybearer spins, unable to hit the boy before Sora uses a cross slash and sends Wesker flying.
Wesker's injured body went sailing and crashed onto the ground, bleeding from his wounds. He sat up slowly, panting as his chest bled but the wounds were starting to heal. He spat out blood and smirked at the teen. "Not bad..." he said and stumbled a bit before righting himself. "But I'm not done yet." The tentacles around his arm picked up a steel beam easily that was sticking out of the ground. Running forward, Wesker ran towards Sora as he threw the steel beam at the kid.
"Neither am I, Wesker!" Sora jumping on and off the beam like a stepping stone like a missile toward Wesker. Twisting and spinning his body like a glorified buzzsaw that Wesker barely sidesteps to avoid. Lashing out with his tentacles at Sora who barely blocks them with his keyblades as the heavy blow sends Sora sailing into a wall. Groaning, Sora pulls himself out of the wall and glares at Wesker. Mentally kicking himself for getting careless like that as the two rush each other again.
Riku however was having a bit of a problem with Maleficent as Riku dances around her lightning bolts. Before lunging forward in a blur of darkness to move faster to slash at Maleficent.
"Argh! You have been a thorn in my side for far too long, Riku! And to think after everything I gave you, this is how you repay me?!" Maleficent said seething at Riku as he glares right back with as much hatred.
"Don't play victim with me, Maleficent! You manipulated me to believe Sora had abandoned us and made us fight to further your own goal to send all worlds into darkness!" Riku shot back as he dodges another lightning bolt and slashes Maleficent four times that sends her flying. Only to see her vanish in green flames and reappear further away. What raised alarm bells in Riku's mind was that she was facing the family behind them.
"If you wish to play hero for worlds not your own, then die for them like all heroes do! Meteor!" Maleficent call summoning the meteors that she used on Riku before much to his and everyone elest horror.
"No!" Riku shouts forcing his body to move as fast as it could enhanced by both light and darkness. Appearing in front of the families with his hands glowing in darkness.
"Dark Barrier!" Riku shouts as the barrier came to life and blocked the meteors, doing his best to keep them at bay. 'Damn you, Maleficent! You knew you couldn't beat me head to head in combat and use the innocent to force me into this position again!' Riku mentally snarls at Maleficent's cackling form as she kept up the meteor barrage. He needed something or someone to distract her and cancel her technique. He knew that magic requires a lot of concentration and too much pain would force it to be canceled.
"Kairi, Lanna, Jake, Ada! I hate to ask, but I need you guys to distract the witch to cancel her magic. It requires full focus and if hurt too badly, it'll cancel when she is unable to focus on it." Riku asks his friends that he's seen fight already, though asking Kairi first because he counted on her the most. One she's a keyblade wielder like Sora and himself, while the second reason is because he trusts her more than anyone else. As well as his own secret feelings for her, something he swore to reveal to Kairi later once everyone is safe.
"Okay!" Kairi said nodding as she looked at the witch. "Firaga!" She shot fireballs at the witch while Ada shot explosive bullets at the witch, who was too busy with her attack on Riku. Lanna concentrated her light into her sniper gun, aiming and fired at the witch's head, hitting her mark but it wasn't enough to distract her. They wanted this fight to be over with as the rest of their friends and family was forced to watch their loved ones fight the two people that had started it all.
Wesker growled and lunged at Sora after getting the attack from the young keybearer. His eyes flashed with anger as the last attack had knocked off his sunglasses, revealing his glowing cat eyes that were now tinged with yellow, like that of a heartless. His movements faster with each attack now.
Sora was sweating as he could feel master Form's time limit nearing it's end and he'd have to build up Drive energy again. Though next time he'd use Final Form if needed, he knew Anti wanted another crack art Wesker, but he knew if Anti comes out. All of his drive energy will get used up and it would take too long for Final Form to appear. Besides, Anti could never beat the power Final Form unleashes as the power to temporarily unlock the hidden potential of his keyblade abilities.
"Thundaga!" Sora calls as he dances around Wesker's latest attack as powerful thunderbolts hammer into Wesker from above. Sora flipping around Wesker out of reach of the lightning and himself as Sora spammed the attack four more times. The last one forcing Sora to back flip to safety while Wesker got hammered with enough lightning to believe Zeus was punishing the man himself. The ground he was standing on was charred and cracked with lingering lightning sparking inside the cracks. The crater created from the attack was ten feet wide with a charred Wesker in the center as his body was forced back into fighting condition by his darkness. Not really a healing technique, but rather a forced patch up using darkness to keep him able to fight.
In a way, the darkness acted like a person's and a heartless's life force or blood. As long as they had it, they could patch themselves up. If they ran out however...they would die fading into darkness itself.
"My god..." Jill said, her eyes wide as she saw the fight between Sora and Wesker, seeing that they were both fighting at what she believed to be at their strongest. They could see that the two were slowly reaching their limits and the fight would soon end. None of them knew that this wouldn't be their final form or fight as the major one is yet to start.
"They're like gods almost..." Sherry said surprised at the battle, hearing Lanna and the others help Riku with Maleficent and hoped they were alright.
Wesker panted heavily as his wounds were slowly healing, new skin forming but he was having trouble. His healing was going slower now from the onslaught of attacks. He wheezed and glared at the panting boy as he jumped out of the crater, his tentacles regrowing and sprouting.
Sora frowned as he knew this form wasn't going to last much longer and he'd need to bring up his drive gauge a few levels to reach Final Form. Seeing Wesker regrow and sprout more tentacles he charged toward Wesker. Kingdom Key in his right hand and Hero's Crest spinning just away from his left hand thanks to his telekinetic abilities in this form. Ready to be thrown at Wesker or grabbed to slash him with at a moments notice.
Riku however, saw Maleficent finally flinched under the constant attacks and stopped her atacks. Focusing Darkness into his hands as he charged Maleficent. "This is the end!" Riku shouts firing a Dark Firaga barrage that surround Maleficent in a dust cloud. Riku watches the cloud warily before his eyes widen sensing a large surge of darkness growing rapidly.
Jumping back in time to see a huge green flame appearing as a figure was growing within the flames. Leon, Claire, Chris, Jill, Elly, and Lanna seeing this paled having an idea what Maleficent was turning into... The growling sound not helping as they recalled the movie Sleeping Beauty.
"You've got to be kidding me..." Leon murmured now worried about Riku's odds of winning.
"Please tell me that's not what I think that is, Sherry..." Jake said worried and almost pleading his wife. He faced dozens of dangerous B.O.W.s before, but fighting a dragon was not something he liked to do when low on ammo.
"Lanna, Kairi? You both sure Riku can handle this by himself?" Chris asks as the flames disperse to reveal a large black and yellow dragon with green flames licking out of it's mouth. With two large wings on it's back that could help it fly.
"I wish, Jake...I wish it wasn't..." Sherry said, looking at her husband worriedly as Claire stayed close to her husband, holding Matthew in her arms. She didn't think a dragon would be next...
Lanna and Kairi looked at Chris, looking grim but nodded. "Yes," Lanna said, looking nervous but confident Riku's abilities as did Kairi. "He's stronger than he looks," Kairi said and looked at Riku and Maleficent's dragon form. "We'll cover backup if he needs it. Jake, Lanna, how much ammo do you have?"
"I'm low on handgun, but I have plenty in my shotgun and Sniper Rifle," Lanna said, not liking the odds as she was still a bit nervous and looked at Jake.
"I got twelve Elephant Killer bullets, two clips for the Ak-47, and one clip for my Samurai Edge." Jake said offering Chris and Jill his AK-47 and Samurai Edge. "You two take either one of these, I'll keep my Elephant Killer."
Chris seeing the guns looks at his wife knowing she'd need something to protect herself. "Well, dear? Which gun do you want to keep on you?"
Jill looked at the guns. "I'll take the Samurai Edge," she said and looked at Chris before looking at Jake. "Thank you." She didn't feel as naked now. She rubbed Elly's back as she held the girl close to her.
Lanna looked at Leon and offered him her shotgun. "Take it dad. I'd feel better if you did," she said. She would have offered her Glock but she didn't want to leave her parents defenseless.
Leon nodded with a smile showing he understood how she felt. As Jake handed Jill his Samurai Edge pistol and Chris the Ak-47. The parents quickly checking the guns, before giving satisfied nods at the guns being locked and loaded.
"It's time we finish this!" Riku shouts rushing toward Maleficent dodging a burst of flame the dragon breathes toward Riku. Only to recoil in pain as Riku slashes it's face and gets two more on it's throat. Maleficent's dragon form starts stomping the ground unleashing shockwaves that made Riku stumble at first, before jumping to avoid the other shock waves. Slashing at Maleficent's head when he could and doing his best to avoid getting burned or eaten.
"Got your back, Riku!" Jake shouts charging his Elephant Killer with what little remained of his light aura and pulled off three shots to the dragon's head. Only then the light faded from Jake's weapon and he took a knee as he felt exhaustion become more noticeable. Feeling his reserves too low to try drawing anymore of that light for now.
"Jake!" Sherry said running to her husband, worried about him and bent down next to him. "Are you okay?" She looked at him, biting her lower lip.
Lanna looked at Jake, worried. "You used to much of your light," Sora had told them to be careful about overdoing it. "Just try to rest," she said. She looked at the Dragon and took out her rifle, loading it up and locked onto her eye. She put some of her light into the next bullet and fired at the dragon's eye, hoping to blind her somewhat.
The dragon in response roars in pain and agony as Riku took advantage of it's distracted state to land several slashes on it's head and throat. Leaving deep gashes before the it flapped it's wings to push Riku back from the gust it forced on Riku. Everyone behind Riku braced themselves against the gust shielding their faces as Jake and Sherry held each other.
"I'll live...supergirl...thanks for worrying though," Jake admits hating his own weakness, but too worn out to try putting up a front right now. Instead watching Riku now jump to grab Maleficent's tail as the dragon started flying.
"Don't think you're getting away from me this time, Maleficent!" Riku shouts as the tail tries to shake him off, only to launch himself up on it's back and slash one of the wings, badly wounding it. Making Maleficent's dragon form lose some altitude before barrel rolling to knock Riku off. Though Riku and the others could see Maleficent was flying more slowly and carefully now, clearly nursing it's wounded wing.
"Riku, her wing!" Kairi said, seeing the wounded wing. Lanna saw this and aimed her scope on the wound. It was deep and it nearly severed some tendons, but not enough to make the wing useless. "Riku, hold onto something!" Lanna called out to him. She would help Riku take down the over sized lizard. Aiming, she fired two rounds as both bullets his the wound, going deep and severed a couple more tendons.
The dragon thrashed and roared in agony as Riku hanged on for dear life. Before pushing his body into a lunge as he swung for the wing. Cleaving it in half as the wing flew off and the dragon started free falling toward the ground. Only to kick up a dust cloud from impact as Maleficent's dragon form skidded to a halt near the edge of a cliff. Riku stumbling off the dragon and on his feet as both Maleficent's dragon form and Riku glared at one another near their limits. Only for Riku to charge as the dragon gathered flames in it's jaws.
"Chaos Breaker!" Riku shouts slashing at the dragon's head with his keyblade coated in light and knocking Maleficent's aim off. Causing the flames to hit a wall nearby the civilians as they moved further to the right avoiding the flames. Before Riku came swinging back with his keyblade coated in darkness making Maleficent roar in pain. Stumbling backwards as the ground near the cliff caved and made the dragon fall into the ocean. Riku watched panting in exhaustion as he waited for some sign if she was alive or not, but saw no signs of movement or life. Jake seeing Riku look so intent came to check on him with Kairi and Lanna looking over the cliff. Sherry by his side to make sure he was okay as Jake gave Riku a look.
"You think she's dead, Riku?" Jake asks as Riku only narrowed his gaze at the water below.
"Hard to say, but I sure hope so. She's been nothing but a horrible reminder of my mistakes in my past." Riku replies as he sighs tiredly and Jake sees the exhaustion Riku feels on the inside. A soul who's seen and been through a lot, but refuses to stop or change. Rather, he continues onward fighting for those he precious to him and for what he believes in.
Kairi walked towards him and hugged him from behind. "I'm glad you're okay," she said, knowing he had to be exhausted. Sherry stayed next to Jake, keeping an arm around his waist. She looked at the tired teen and looked at Jake, seeing something in his eyes but wasn't sure what.
Lanna turned to see the fight between Sora and Wesker, biting her lower lip as she was worried. Both fighters were at their limits, panting heavily as they glared each other. "Sora..." she said softly, her tone filled with worry. She felt her mother behind her and nudged her. "Believe in him, Lanna," Claire said softly.
Sora meanwhile had to crack a small smile as he caught Maleficent's fall from the corner of his eye. Glad to see Riku was alive and Maleficent seems to be down for the count, but kept his guard up as Wesker stared him down. 'I only got a few minutes left for Master Form, I need to end this now.' Sora thought charging in again toward Wesker.
"It's time we end this, Wesker!" Sora shouts lunging toward Wesker with an overhead cross slash from both keyblades crashing down on Wesker's gunblade. Causing a crater to form around Wesker as he struggled to keep the boy back.
Wesker panted heavily and jumped back, glaring. "This ends now!" he growled as he gripped his gunblade and threw it up into the air. The weapon glowed darkly and slid into his back, growling as his back arched heavily. Veins rippled under his skin as it turned black, growing taller as the bones cracked and bulged out of his back, his eyes turned bright yellow as fangs grew from his mouth. This was Wesker's last form.
Sora looked at this form cautiously as he sensed Wesker's darkness grow stronger now. Even in Master Form he knew Wesker would be difficult to defeat now. 'I was afraid of this, I need to use Final Form to win this.'
"What..." Jill said, her eyes wide. "Has the darkness really made him this strong?" Ada looked grimed and nodded. "Yes. Maleficent has made him this way, giving him the powers of darkness. Just like Krauser, Simmons, Alex and the others that is working under her."
Lanna nodded slowly.
"I would know..." Riku began watching next to Lanna as Kairi held him, while Jake and Sherry stood close to Leon and Claire. "I use to work for Maleficent in the past back when I was a fool who was easily tricked. She's a manipulator that has the power to back up her boasts and schemes. It's not that surprising to see Wesker so strong given how dark his heart is, given time he could become worse than Ansem the seeker of darkness..."
"How bad was he?" Leon asks fearing the answer he might get, but he needed to know what Sora's odds were.
"Let me put it this way, Ansem never truly died, but rather he's a part of the darkness sealed inside of my heart. He's been there since the time I regained my body from him and spent a year fighting him for dominance. Even now he's there, but I'm strong enough to keep him in check and sealed away inside me." Riku explains making Jake scowl in worry as Leon looks at Riku with a knowing look.
"Was that his power you was using in that strange outfit? The one you used back when you fought both Maleficent and Wesker at the same time?" Leon asks having a strong feeling that was the source of Riku's power back then, it was confirmed as Riku nodded.
"Yeah, it was. I tapped into some of his power to enhance my own and we got into a fight for dominance for it. As you can tell, I won, but I nearly died due to my attention being divided. What with Wesker and Maleficent trying to kill us and Ansem trying to take over, it was difficult to say the least." Riku explains making Chris frown at the boy wondering how he was sane.
"No offense, Riku, but kids like you shouldn't have to carry such burdens."
"Maybe, maybe not, I can't say for sure. But I do know one thing, I'll accept this power and everything that has come with it. if it means I can use this power to protect those important to me." Riku says impressing Chris and Leon at Riku's resolve. They could see the looks of a young man who's seen a lot. Arguably too much, but it never broke him, instead he became stronger and keeps moving forward to protect those he cares for.
"As long as you can do that and not lose yourself," Lanna said looking at her new friend and smiled. "That is admirable and strong. But you don't need to fight it alone, Riku. Kairi, Sora, Donald, Goofy, the others, they will help you with each step." Kairi smiled and nodded. 'We'll shoulder this...together." Claire and Ada watched the teens, smiling lightly. Ada ruffled the boy's hair affectionately. "You're a good kid, Riku," she said.
Riku gave a sincere smile at that as he tried to swat her hand away. Smirking at Ada as he saw her smirking at him, before the peace was broken by hearing an explosion and baby Matthew started crying again from all the loud noises. They looked toward Sora's fight to see Sora on the defensive against Wesker now, his aerial combat style while using this form giving him an edge. But Sora knew that Wesker was still stronger and faster than he was in this form and it an almost out of time!
'I have to finish this or at least give myself breathing room when I revert back!' Sora thought surrounding his keyblades in a cloak of fire as Wesker charged forward. "Firaga!" Sora shouts lunging past Wesker's striking range and slamming into Wesker. Stopping Wesker's attack and setting him on fire. Sora not wasting time began flipping around him with his keyblade sparking in electricity with his keyblade tip glowing yellow.
"Thundaga! Thundaga! Thundaga! Thundaga!" Sora shouts slamming huge lightning bolts into Wesker in another magic chain. Dancing around Wesker's strikes as he did this to further pressure the guy as the last one hit the hardest. Once again cracking the earth Wesker stood on with cracks glowing from the lingering lightning.
'Almost done!' Sora thought feeling his timer getting dangerously close to being out and knew he'd have to work hard to gain enough drive energy to use Final Form against this powerful foe.
Wesker growled as he was hit again and again by the teen's attacks, grunting as his wounds continued to heal, even during the attacks. "You're losing your power, Sora!" he taunted, smirking. "You're reaching your limit, aren't you? Your attacks aren't as strong!" He growled as he lashed out at Sora, sending his tentacles at him. The tentacles spewed out a purplish gas that served as decoy to confuse Sora as a tentacle was heading straight for him.
"Sora, look out!" Kairi called out, seeing the tentacle and looked scared. She hope Sora would dodge or block it in time! Lanna felt her chest tighten as she saw the tentacle. "Sora!"
Sora feeling danger and catching movement getting dangerously close, Sora jumps over the attack and aerial dodges as it tries to chase him down midair. Putting distance between Sora and Wesker, only for his form to wear out. Goofy and Donald appearing at his sides in a flash of light as his clothes revert back as Sora internally cursed his luck.
"Goofy, Donald! Hang strong guys, I need time to get the drive energy back up to win this!" Sora told his two friends and comrades that have been by his side for over a year now. Scowling at Wesker knowing his attacks would be weaker in his normal state, but thankfully he had access to all of his abilities now.
He just needed to use them in a way to survive long enough to bring out Final Form! Riku meanwhile narrowed his eyes knowing Sora was in a bind and worse he was too worn out to properly help Sora. If he joined in now as he was, even with Kairi backing him up. They'd only distract Sora and probably get him killed trying to protect them.
"This is bad, Sora's drive forms are his aces and now he has only one that can match that monster in strength as he is." Riku said quietly, remembering Final Form from the brief time Sora used it on the World That Never Was to rescue Kairi and end Organization XIII.
"What do you mean?" Jill asked. "Do you really think this last form can beat him?" She looked at Riku, worry in her tone as she held Elly, who was whimpering and had her face buried into her mother's shoulder, shaking heavily.
Kairi nodded, looking a bit pale around the edges. "Sora can do it. He's one of the strongest we know," she said and looked at Riku, shifting on her feet and gripped the edge of Riku's vest. She was worried about Sora, not knowing a whole lot about this form either. Lanna gripped her hip, watching Sora back away from Wesker to regain his strength.
"I know so, I've only seen it in action for a brief time, but it has the power needed for this fight. Sora only has to hang in there and score enough damage on Wesker to regain his energy. That said he'll have to hit Wesker without getting killed by Wesker's new power. It'll be a match of skill, stamina, and adaptability for Sora. Which is a good thing Sora's a master at all three of these things in life or death fights." Riku explains as Leon smirk at hearing this. The kid is really starting to remind Leon of himself in his younger days.
"That a fact..." Leon murmured watching Sora deflect Wesker's tentacles and close in with a jumping slash as he spun like a buzzsaw. Hitting Wesker on the back of his head as Sora flew past him and quickly dodge rolls underneath a retaliating swing from Wesker's gunblade.
"So...what do we do? Just watch?" Lanna asked, biting her lower lip as she watched the fight with the others. She stood next to her parents as Wesker snarled, his eyes flashing angrily and thrust forward, slashing at Sora repeatedly. He wasn't losing any steam either as his attacks seem to get stronger with each thrust, making Sora block or duck.
Wesker kept attacking Sora, growling angrily. He jumped back and slammed his tentacles into the ground, forcing them deep before they resurfaced under Sora.
"Reflega!" Sora shouts as a crystal barrier of light formed around Sora as he jumped into the air. Tanking the hits and storing energy before the sphere burst and destroyed the tentacles around him. Landing in a crouch, Sora shot forward and slashes Wesker three times before blocking Wesker's hidden death's slash. Only to be sent flying and forced to block shots from Wesker while in midair. Riku and the others watching worried and hopeful for Sora.
"I'm afraid it's all we can do unless you got a better idea of how to help him. Preferably without turning Wesker's wrath on us when I'm too weak to hold him off for long. Don't get me wrong, I'll do it and die trying to keep you guys safe, but I prefer we have a plan where we all live." Riku explains watching as Donald and Goofy try to back up Sora, but do little to really slow Wesker down. Their efforts does buy Sora some breathing room by interrupting Wesker's follow up attacks at times.
"If only we can freeze him long enough or stun him, just enough to slow him down so Sora can regain his strength," Ada said thinking and looked at her explosive arrows and at the glowing orb on Wesker's chest before looking at Lanna, remembering the light training she went under with Jake. "Lanna, do you have any light left?" she asked.
"Huh? I do, yeah. Why?" Lanna asked before Ada looked at Claire and Leon. "I need to borrow her." She grabbed Lanna by the arm and led her away from the group, talking to her.
Riku meanwhile watched as Sora struggled to score some hits in, while watching out for Wesker's tentacles. Riku had to admit the guy had gotten dangerously powerful and he hated sitting on the sidelines. Looking at Kairi, he knew they had one gambit they could use, but it would be risky and not something he was about to suggest lightly.
"Kairi, how much light can you access without hurting yourself?" Riku asks deciding to see if Kairi had enough for what he had in mind. She barely fought compared to Sora and himself, but she was still very new to this and had lower strength and magic compared to them.
Kairi looked at Riku and nodded. "I can access a bit of it," she said as she saw Ada and Lanna walked towards them. "What do you need?" She wondered what Lanna and Ada were scheming, hoping it would help save Sora. She looked back to Riku, shifting on her feet. She wanted to help out, no matter how dangerous it was.
"I need to mix your light with my darkness to create a bomb of sorts that we both have to throw. Once it hits the ground, it'll cause chaotic light and darkness based damage to anyone in range. It won't kill Wesker, but I guarantee it'll hurt if we hit him. That said, if we mess up making the bomb and keeping it stable, it'll blow up on us..." Riku explains to Kairi watching as Sora, Donald, and Goofy uses trinity Limit to deal damage on Wesker, but he still gets back up. Only more hurt from that attack than the others. Looking pissed as he charges toward Sora and sends him flying with Wesker lashing his tentacles toward Goofy and Donald. Goofy doing his best to protect them from Wesker's onslaught as Donald uses his magic to rain thunder on Wesker. Hoping to distract him long enough for Sora to get back.
"We'll help," Ada said."We'll get Wesker away from Sora and the others." Lanna nodded. "Uncle Chris said that glowing orb on his chest is a weakness. If we can hit him there, it should provide Sora extra time."
"Will this work?" Kairi asked and looked at Riku. Wesker growled and lunged at Donald, dodging the rain. His eyes were now tinged red with the gold now. The tentacles lashing out at Goofy as well, barely blocking the attacks.
"Positive, but this is extremely risky, Kairi. I need you to follow my instructions to the letter. If I say add more power, keep it stead, or use less. I mean to do just that immediately, we can't risk this blowing up on us or it could at least leave us badly injured." Riku says with certainty, before giving Kairi a serious look when he warns her of the danger this technique can do. Even now Sora was seen rushing back to Donald and Goofy's aid spinning like a buzzsaw as he cut the tentacle arm in half. Forcing Wesker to roar in pain as the darkness put it back together, now focusing his fury on Sora who barely dances around Wesker's raging strikes.
"Then I suggest you guys get started, cause Wesker's not giving Sora much breathing room." Chris says hating his powerlessness, watching a young teen fight for their lives against their worst enemy brought back to life.
Kairi nodded. "Okay," she said as she believed in this. Lanna took the explosive arrow and Ada's crossbow. It wasn't a weapon she was used to and didn't have much practice with but knew enough about it so she could handle it. She concentrated what little light she had left, feeling the pull on her body. She ignored the feeling as she pulled back the bow, waiting. The arrow glowed brightly from her light.
Jill looked at Chris and nodded. "It's cutting it close..." she said, feeling dread in the pit of her stomach as she didn't like how things were turning for them at the moment. Wesker growled as he dodged a swipe from Sora and landed on his feet. The orb was slightly protected from smaller tentacles. Breathing slowly, Lanna aimed and released the arrow. It sailed through the air and hit the orb, causing Wesker to stumble back as the light crackled around him, stunning him.
"Okay, I'm gonna create an orb of darkness and I need you to mix light into it. Pour it in in a steady amount, but if it sparks chaotically. It means you're putting in too much at once and need to slow down." Riku says creating the orb as his eyes narrowed in concentration. "I'll focus on maintaining the sphere's shape and power, I only need you to add light into it."
Sora meanwhile takes advantage of the orb being seen as a chance to attack and rushes Wesker glowing.
"Ars Arcanum!" Sora shouts slashing Wesker with fast heavy blows from his keyblade. Wesker stumbling back in pain from each hit Sora dealt to the tyrant before getting sent flying from Sora's last strike. Sora wiped the sweat gathering on his head and brow as he took the brief breathing room to catch his breath.
'Almost got enough hits in for Final Form, but I just need a few more and I'll have enough...' Sora thought watching Wesker shoot back to his feet furious at both Sora and Lanna for the damage they dealt. Much to Wesker's ire Sora was standing directly in his path to Lanna, forcing him to fight Sora first. Something Leon and Claire smiled at the boy's protectiveness toward their daughter.
Lanna panted heavily as she dropped to one knee, reaching her limit with her light powers and sat down, panting heavily as sweat beaded on her forehead. She looked up to see Sora standing between her and Wesker. She smiled tiredly at his back even though he couldn't see her.
Wesker snarled and rushed at Sora, sending out a darkness encased tentacle that had every intent on crushing the teen.
Kairi nodded as she started to add her own light to the darkness orb, going at an even pace as she didn't want to overload it or make it crackle. They could all feel the hands of time ticking away slowly, almost agonizing...
Riku's face was of grim determination as he heard Sora struggle to keep Wesker at bay, but kept his focus on the orb, one misstep would screw them all and soon enough he had a perfect orb of swirling light and darkness. "That's good, Kairi, now just keep hold of half the orb as I will hold half. We both have to use our magic to launch it toward Wesker when I give the mark, cause we got one shot with this bomb." Riku explains to Kairi as he slowly stands right next to Kairi. Their hands almost touching as both took aim.
Kairi nodded as she held onto one side of the orb, her face tight with concentration as she looked at Riku. "Okay" she said as she was ready, waiting for his word. The fight between Sora and Wesker was getting heated...mostly because Wesker was attacking Sora, sending waves of darkness as well as tentacles.
Ada and Lanna stood back, watching the battle as it grew with intensity, watching Sora do his best to fight off Wesker in this form, trying to earn enough energy to start his last Drive form.
Sora feeling only a tiny bit of energy left needed for it, rushes Wesker as he spots an opening in his attack pattern. Barely slipping inside the gap and sliding toward Wesker as he stabs him in the chest in his orb. Making Wesker gasp in pain and stumble back, before Sora slams his keyblade into Wesker sending him skyward. Unfortunately Sora didn't notice the retaliating tentacles until they slammed into him.
"Aaagghhh!" Sora cried out before he hit the wall on the opposite side of the arena. The wall cratering around Sora from the impact as Sora groaned shaking his head to shake off the pain he felt.
Riku seeing Wesker still in midair saw his chance to give Sora an edge. "Now Kairi! While Wesker is still in midair!" Riku says determined to take the chance they are given. While in midair Wesker had nowhere to run or hide. Aiming his hand toward Wesker as Kairi did the same, both focused on taking him down.
"Okay!" Kairi said as she aimed her hand towards Wesker with Riku. The light and darkness orb flung forward, heading straight towards Wesker. The orb crackled as Wesker was helpless to fight back right now and was soon hit by the orb, screaming in pain as it hit the glowing orb on his chest. He screamed as he flew threw the air and soon landed on his back, leaving a deep crater that went down ten feet. All was silent, except for the sound of sizzling skin and groaning from a wounded Wesker.
Kairi stood next to Riku, silent as she watched, hoping it would be enough to do some heavy damage to the monster, the man that had caused them all trouble since the start. They had all went through hell, some more than others but they all had wounds, mentally and physically.
"Is it over...?"
Riku didn't answer for a moment as he watched the hole warily, feeling a tension in the air that was building. Only to widen his eyes as an aura of darkness rose through the air. A feeling of fury, hatred, and rage filled the darkness coming from the man as Riku grit his teeth.
"Unfortunately, not yet." Riku said with a scowl as Sora finally pulled himself free from the wall. Running toward Donald and Goofy to finish the fight. He too could feel Wesker was pissed now. Knowing he had to take Final Form now or his friends would without a doubt become targets.
"Goofy, Donald! We're using Final Form!" Sora shouts to his friends as they rush to stand between the hole Wesker was in and their friends. Sora gathering power as a silver orb appears in his hand. Just as Goofy and Donald both glow and turn into orbs of light that flew into Sora's orb making it shine brighter with a silver light.
"What's happening?" Sherry asked, seeing Sora starting to glow in a silvery light now as Donald and Goofy had joined him once again. Seeing Wesker so pissed off made her feel uneasy and shifted closer to Jake, needing to feel some comfort. She wasn't sure if it was the darkness that made it worse than normal. Kairi swallowed heavily as she stayed near Riku, watching Sora transform into his final form.
"I don't know, supergirl, but let's hope it's something good..." Jake says holding his wife comfortingly before everyone's eyes widen seeing the crystal sphere encase Sora and disperse. Revealing Sora in a glowing silver and black version of his outfit. An aura of silver light that almost looked holy radiating off of him as two keyblades floated behind him. One was an angelic looking keyblade with a kanji symbol for light as the teeth of the keyblade. The other was black with a kanji symbol for darkness as the teeth. a purple jewel between the hilt and the blade.
It was like looking at keyblades representing both light and darkness floating behind Sora who looked almost angelic in this form. His eyes having a silver glow on his blue eyes. What really got everyone's attention though was that he was floating off the ground like hw as hovering again. Only they could see he was five inches off the ground like a true levitation.
"Damn...spikes really knows how to make an appearance." Jake murmurs a bit impressed both at his looks at the power he feels from Sora. While Wesker's darkness is colossal, Sora's practically his equal if not slightly stronger in a presence of light.
"Claire? Do you still believe in angels? Cause I think I know where the church came up with that idea..." Leon asks seeing the forms Wesker and Sora are now in. It looked like a demon and angel about to face off in combat from ancient legends.
Sherry nodded in agreement as she leaned into her husband, her eyes wide in surprise. "I can't believe it..." she said. "He's like an angel..."
Claire stared, her eyes wide in shock. "I didn't think I did but I do now..." she said, holding Matthew against her chest who quieted down after seeing the comforting light.
Lanna felt her heart thud against her chest, seeing Sora's final form. She couldn't believe that was her boyfriend. This mysterious boy that crashed landed here, who looked like he was just a goof but had surprised everyone again and again. "Sora..." she said, watching.
"Maybe we have a chance after all..." Chris said with hope at the angelic figure Sora had become. Honestly this kid was full of surprises and Chris was starting to wonder if the surprises would ever stop.
Wesker snarled as he looked at the new form of Sora. "Tsk...another new form," he spat, done with playing around now. "You're just full of surprises..." He roared as he ran forward, lashing out with his tentacles at the new form that Sora had taken."DIE!" His tentacles soared, racing through the air with every intention of impaling the teen.
Only to feel shock as Sora raised his hand in swiping motion and his two keyblades flew all by themselves at Wesker's attack. Deflecting the tentacle with ease as Sora moved toward him moving his arms in swiping and thrusting motions. His keyblades following every motion as Wesker started getting it by them repeatedly. Unable to guess their attack angles because of his sheer surprise Sora's controlling them through telekinesis.
"If it makes you feel any better, Wesker. This form is my final and strongest form, known as Final Form. As I told you before, Wesker, Master form is the representation of all my present abilities being mastered. Final Form however represents my keyblade's potential unlocked for me to use. Not all of it, of course, as ones potential is infinite in number, but rather a small portion of it. If released all at once, it would kill me just for having access to power beyond my body's ability to handle. So when done in a small sample like Final Form does, it's almost like seeing a glimpse of your future power that is yet to be wielded." Sora explains as everyone feels shock and surprise at Sora's explanation of Final Form's power. While Riku nods his head in understanding.
One's potential in terms of powers they could learn in the future as a keyblade wielder is infinite. As no one truly knows just how many magics or skills you would learn. If all of that potential of what he could become was pushed into a body that can't contain it all... He'd probably die from the sheer strain of having too much power inside. Like a balloon filled with too much air or water.
Lanna gripped her pant leg as they listened to what Sora explained. Like any other thing there is always a price to a power or powers and this Drive form had a major price to it. Having all that information rushing through your brain...it was daunting and terrifying really and highly impossible. No one is made to know everything. It's what made us different, unique. She just hoped that Sora would be alright after this Drive form. It had to take a toll on him, she feared.
Wesker snorted. "You're just not strong enough to hold the information," he spat.
"I wish that were that case, Wesker, but this form...it's granted me a glimpse into powers I can wield into my future. One of many possibilities and even then I can see it goes further then that. Power beyond my body and mind's ability to process and control right now, that's why the restrictions are in place for this form. But it doesn't matter, because this power Final Form grants me...is enough. Enough to save my friends and end this battle, once and for all." Sora told Wesker with a determined look. Once more Sora launches the keyblades at Wesker and bashes him around as Sora quickly moves in. Expecting Wesker to try to lash out with his tentacles once close enough.
True to his expectations, Wesker did just that, "Don't underestimate me, Sora!" Wesker shouts as his tentacles launches close to Sora, never seeing Sora reaching out for his Oathkeeper as the tentacle came closer. Once in hand Sora starts rushing Wesker in what looks like a beam of light passing him over and over in different directions.
Wesker and the others saw him getting slashed repeatedly by the light moving around him, far too fast to see Sora or his attacks. Only for Sora to appear above Wesker and repeatedly stab down his keyblades on top of Wesker from above. Up and down the keyblades thrust over and over at high speeds that they blurred to the eyes of Lanna and the others.
"Holy shit...GO SPIKES!" Jake cheered seeing Sora practically owning Wesker right now.
"Claire, I know Sora's not from this world and all, but I think if anyone was to date Lanna. Sora would be on the top of the list of people that I'd ever approve of." Leon said watching the fight in awe, he was floored at Sora's explanation of this form's terrifying and amazing power. He knew it had to have a draw back, but to think it was so heavy... He worried at first if it was a bad trade off to endanger his life trying to force future knowledge of skills and powers like that. Especially ones from the future he yet does not know or have mastered himself. But seeing Sora's use of those powers and no visible signs of pain or ill effects on his body, he could only pray this power doesn't kill him or do some horrible price. Both for Sora's sake and for Lanna's own as he watched his baby girl silently wait and watch her love fight for their sake.
Wesker growled as slashes appeared on his body, barely having time to defend himself. He dropped to the ground and rolled away, his skin bleeding an inky black blood. His skin is a mix of pale skin and black skin. He thrust his arm out as more tentacles pierced the skin as they wiggled and squirmed like angry snakes, wanting the taste of blood. "I will not die like this," he growled as he could feel himself getting weak. The bones in his body cracked, popped and snapped as they pierced through his arm, mixing in with the tentacles as they formed what look to be a gun, made of wiggly black masses of skin and bones. He leveled and started to shoot at Sora.
"My god...!" Ada said, watching this as she and Leon would remember an attack like this from Simmons years ago when he was in his lion mutated form.
"Sora!" Lanna cried out, making a move forward as Claire grabbed her shoulder, pulling her back. "Don't," Claire said, knowing how her daughter felt. Claire would do anything for her husband, even putting herself in danger.
"Defend!" Sora shouts as Wesker shot the bones mixed with darkness at Sora, deflecting them right back as they bounced off his barrier. What surprised Wesker and everyone else was this time the barrier had no scratches or cracks in it. Rather it was easily bouncing the attacks right back to Wesker, Sora's only gesturing of his constant use of the shield was his hand being held out.
Wesker growled as he dodged his own attacks. He sent out tentacles at Sora, running at him at the same time. Matthew cried from the loud noises, waving his pudgy arms. "SHUT THAT BRAT UP OR ELSE I WILL!" Wesker snapped angrily, threatening the baby and his parents. Lanna stayed close to her family as did Jill.
"I think you got bigger problems" Sora said in a rarely heard cold tone that shocked Wesker for two reasons. One, like everyone else he wasn't use to hearing Sora use that tone. Secondly, was how close it sounded.
Looking down he only had time to widen his eyes at seeing Sora literally right in front of him safely past his attack. Keyblades in hand glowing with the power of light, as he cross slashed Wesker in the chest.
"Blade Beam!" Sora shouts as the attack sends Wesker flying away from Sora being dragged back by Sora's attack. A white and silver crescent shaped slash of light energy.
"Aaarrggghh!" Wesker shouts in pain before it explodes from Wesker trying to cancel it out with his own power. Making him roll and crouch to stop his momentum in time to see huge thunderous storm clouds above him. Chancing a look at Sora he saw the look that promised death in his eyes.
"Thundaga!" Sora shouts as Wesker desperately blurs in movement trying to avoid all the lightning strikes raining down on his potion. Tearing up the earth and leaving lightning lingering in the cracks as craters form after each strike.
(Scene Change: Luis and 3rd person view)
Luis sighed as he ran a hand through his hair, wondering what had happened to the baby when he first found out he was gone. He checked the cameras and gave a relieved smile as he saw he was with his family, safe and sound. His eyes widened as he saw Riku defeat Maleficent and now Sora fighting Wesker and seem to be winning!
"What is with these people..." he mused, not having seen anything like this before he had died. Sure, Saddler and Salazar were some the craziest bat shit people he had met, but this was beyond what he thought could even happen.
Neither of them saw as a Dark Corridor opened in the hallways with Braig silently stepping out completely cloaked. He looked around making note of Luis's position and Alex. 'If my plan is gonna work, I need Alex and Wesker alive. Slipping them out with Luis or Sora noticing will require tricky timing, but Luis will be the easier one to fool. I just need them in separate rooms for long enough to get Alex out of here for now. Especially given boss's new orders after he saw the data I gave him.' Braig thought waiting in the shadows for his chance.
"Now that the witch is gone, I can continue my research," Alex said smirking. "I know Albert will defeat these fools." Luis glared at her. "You can do it without me," he snapped and headed to the door.
"Hey!" Alex said, turning to look at him. "Get back here, Sera. We are not done here. My brother is still alive and he is in charge now."
Luis glared at her hatefully, his dark eyes flashing. "No. I would rather die than work for you people. I have had enough with Saddler. Death was my release from this hell." He opened the door and headed out, slamming it behind him.
Braig smirked at Luis's bold words and his own luck at Luis leaving like he did. Deciding to take the chance to knock out Alex quietly, he sped toward her and chopped the back of her neck. Alex only had time to widen her eyes as everything faded to black, a strangled gasp of surprise leaving her as she hit the ground.
"That's one," Braig murmurs hoisting her up in his arms, "Now for the other Wesker and I'll have the complete set!"
Prize in hand, Braig walks casually over to the computer containing Alex's research as he sat her in a chair for now. Typing away quickly as he copied the data and took it for his boss's uses. "Lucky you the old coot finds your B.O.W.s useful to our goal, little lady." Braig says to himself more than the unconscious woman with a smirk on his face. Picking her up as he opens a Dark Corridor without Luis or anyone else seeing him leave with his prize.
Luis sighed heavily as he sat down in a chair, watching his friends. "Leon...I hope you can forgive me for what I did..." he said softly, feeling regret. He shut the computer off and headed out the door, He didn't want to see this place ever again. He could care less what happened to this place.
(Scene Change: The World That Never Was)
Braig walks through a Dark Corridor and drops Alex Wesker off in a bed that in incredibly plain looking. With simple white sheets, covers, and pillow in an all gray room. The very feel of the empty and plain room made one think it'd feel empty and cold, despite it being at room being decently warm. Only a single window showed the night sky outside with a heart shaped moon in the making, not yet completed. As it had a hollow center glowing black and pink.
"I see you made it back with one of the Wesker's you was tasked to bring back, Braig." A man said with long blue hair, yellow eyes, and a scar on his face in the shape of an "X". Braig smirked at the man as he turns to face him. "It wasn't that hard to grab this one, Isa, but please do make sure the old man knows I'll have the other Wesker soon. Also, here's the intel from her computer to help with her research on B.O.W.s." Braig informs the now identified Isa who nods silently as he takes the data discs and walks out the door.
"Sheesh, the dude is as much of a cold bastard as usual. Oh well, at least part one of my job is done." Braig says before a Dark Corridor swallows him up for his next destination.
(Secret Base halls: 3rd P.O.V.)
As Luis walks through the halls, he's contemplating where to go and what to do. Only to gasp in shock and stumble back as a Dark Corridor appeared, at first worrying Wesker had come for him or the Witch. Only to feel slightly at ease seeing Braig step out and smirk at him, with his hood down now to reveal his appearance.
"Good to see you again, Luis, just the man I was looking for" Braig says with a grin and Luis relaxed further now sure it was the same man who secretly helped him earlier.
Luis looked a bit skeptical at Braig's sudden appearance. "What do you want with me?" he asked wearily. He really started to distrust figures dressed in cloaks, even more so ones that step out of corridors. "The witch is gone now. She's of no use now." He didn't know that the witch was brought back before.
Braig only snorted at this. He really thought that old witch was dead? Not likely, but he saw no reason to chat about that. "I mean I need you to get the Kennedy and Redfield family out of here with those keybearers once the fighting is over. While I was running around this base, I noticed some large boats they were most likely planning to use for invasion. Don't worry, I took care of the crew way back when" Braig explains before tossing Luis some keys.
"Those keys will grant you entry to the lower levels of the base where the boats are, completely unmanned and safe for your usage. After all, you don't really want to walk all the way out of here do you?" Braig proposes his "generous" gift to Luis as he looks at Luis with a raised eyebrow.
Luis caught the keys and raised a brow at him. "Thanks," he said slowly. "But what is it that you want in return?" He knew people didn't help without wanting something in return. He knew shortcuts to get off this island, even though it would take him a few days to get off this crap island. But he did want to help the families as they had been through enough for the day as it is and he wouldn't give up the chance to talk to Leon again.
"Well, just getting the family and Sora's little group OFF the island would be doing me huge wonders. As I plan on blowing this island up, but rather not catch them in the crossfire or wait for them to get off it by foot. You understand right? It'd take forever for them to do so and I rather not wait longer than needed" Braig says being honest about blowing it up, but not telling him the rest of his plans.
"Boss man doesn't want ANY evidence of his research that Maleficent stole being found. So I've been given orders to destroy the island once they're gone" Braig finishes his explanation to the man before him.
"Alright," Luis said nodding. "What's the fastest way to getting to the arena?" If he wanted to get to the family and the friends before he blow up the island he'd have to do it fast. He knew Sora would kill Wesker with his new form but was worried about them nonetheless.
He frowned a bit. "Boss man?" he asked, wondering who his boss was. "And what kind of research?"
"The kind that makes B.O.W.s look like playthings, but as for my boss...Sorry, but I can't tell you" Braig said bluntly as he wrapped an arm around Luis's shoulders walking down the corridor toward the arena. "If I told you, I'd have to kill you after all" Braig said getting Luis to tense and look at him nervously.
"Hey, don't look at me like that! I don't make the rules, but like anyone else under his command, I HAVE to follow them or it's MY head on a pike. Surely you understand given your recently history with Maleficent" Braig says truthfully knowing Xehanort could and WOULD kill him for any treasonous actions. It didn't mean he was forced to follow Xehanort in the beginning like the others. He chose this to gain what he seeks and even became half Xehanort to do it.
Not that Luis or anyone here needed to know of this yet of course.
Luis sighed heavily and nodded. "Alright, alright!" He said, shaking his head as he heard this. 'What is it with you people working for crazy mad men..." He pinched the bridge of his nose, following him as this was giving him a headache. "But what does Sora have to do with this?"
"The old man wants him to stay alive, because Sora has potential the old man sees as useful to our cause. Even now he's helped us without realizing it, not that it matters at this point. So be sure to thank the boy for me, would ya?" Braig says before pointing down a hallway going left. "Through that hallway will lead you straight to the arena, but I advise not making yourself known to the others until Wesker is defeated. Wouldn't want to get caught in the crossfire now do we?" Braig asks playfully with a knowing tone and smug grin.
Luis sweatdropped a bit at that. "Tsk...dying won't be as bad the second time but yeah," he said nodding as he looked down the hallway and looked at Braig. "Thanks." Untangling himself from the man, he started down the hallway. He really didn't want to have a run in with the man with god complex.
Braig watched Luis go with a grin on his face. 'Time to do a snatch and grab on the last Wesker, preferably before he gets killed by Sora.' Braig thought as he warped away out of sight, leaving nothing behind of his presence.
(Scene change: Final Arena 3rd P.O.V.)
Braig appeared on top of an arena wall watching just out of sight of everyone down below. Making sure to stay in the shadows to avoid being seen as an extra cautious measure. Knowing getting spotted will put him in a bad spot, especially if he gets seen grabbing a near dead Wesker. True, he could grab him while he's still alive, but that was too risky for Braig to gamble on.
'Looks like I grabbed a seat just in time for the finale of this show. Wesker and Sora are both pretty worn out now...' Braig thinks watching the two warriors glare at each other across a battle scarred arena.
Wesker panted heavily as he could feel the pull of pure exhaustion hit him like a tone of bricks but stayed up, glaring at Sora like he was an insect. The arena was scratched and torn apart from the fighting constantly. The families stood off to the side, watching the fight. It was clear that both were getting to their limit. Wesker's healing abilities were lagging, not healing as fast. He was bleeding a bit now. He slammed his tentacles into the ground, going deep till they broke through the ground under Sora as they rushed at him.
Sora seeing the attack flew around the cracks trying to avoid the attack. Using his high speed flight in this form to his advantage, but found Wesker's tentacles trying to ensnare him from all sides. Acting on instinct, Sora quickly cut down the tentacles using his keyblades he was wielding through telekinesis. Pointing one of them at Wesker, the keyblade's tip glowed frosty with a blue aura. "Blizzaga!" Sora shouts firing large ice magic toward Wesker in the shape of three giant sized spikes.
Wesker cried out in pain as he was slashed through and half frozen from the attack, his body growing cold. His lower legs and feet were frozen to the ground. He growled as he struggled weakly against the attack. There was a giant hole in his chest, just a few meter's away from his heart and the golden globe on his chest. He snarled and struggled harder. "Release me!" he ordered as his tentacles were half frozen as well.
"Release you?" Sora questions with a surprised tone, honestly shocked Wesker believed he would do such a thing. Especially after all the crap he had done. "After everything you did? No, you've caused enough pain and suffering not only to Lanna and Elly's families, but to the people of this world as well. What's worse, you've been granted chances at life repeatedly thanks to the virus and Maleficent. Yet, in all those lives you lived, you never realized how important human life is. You never used your powers to protect anyone! Only to destroy so many lives, without a shred of mercy or care, instead of trying to help humanity stop the viruses! If you did it to corrupt people harming others, that would've been one thing, but why target the innocent as well?" Sora questioned.
Not understanding how someone so strong and given so many chances, would recklessly continue causing such suffering. Worse, he did it all with a grin on his face as he tried to destroy humanity and helped spread the viruses for his own gains.
Someone with his power could've been a great help for humanity to combat the viruses and stopped it all together! With his superhuman abilities and smarts, he'd be a one man army, as well as natural leader for the people. Even as a lone hero, he could've done a lot of good.
So why?
Why was Wesker so lost in darkness to the point he would risk turning the world into a living nightmare, just to be it's ruler?
Leon, Jake, and Chris watched as Sora asked this, they couldn't help feeling the kid was too pure in some ways after all.
"Don't bother, Sora, Wesker would never learn! Trust me, I was there from day one of his betrayal to S.T.A.R.S. and been fighting him for years!" Chris shouted to Sora hoping he'd just kill him already and be done with this nightmare.
"Sora, as much as I can see this probably makes little sense to you, Chris is right! Wesker has no desires to protect people like you do with his power. Chris once informed everyone how he tried to infect the entire world with Uroboros to infect everyone and be the world's "god". I'm afraid you two are just complete opposites on this, Sora!" Leon told the young man, as while Chris was somewhat blinded by his rage toward Wesker. Understandable as it is, Leon could see Sora didn't like any of this. He was a pure boy who fought for honorable reasons or for the sake of those he cared for. it wasn't fair they were putting him in this position, but he needed to understand Wesker was beyond redemption.
Jake took a look at his old man encased in his frozen prison and couldn't see how the hell his mother could love such a monster. Maybe she never saw Wesker for what he truly was, he couldn't say for certain. But he knew...he couldn't keep his promise to his mother, not after so many people he cares for had been threatened.
"Spikes, I know you are not the type to execute people in cold blood and I respect you for that. But you and Wesker are two people who will never see eye to eye. One would protect others and the other would use power to oppress and rule over those beneath them! You have to trust us, Spikes, reasoning with Wesker won't work. I wish he could be reasoned with if only for the sake of keeping my promise to my mom, but I can see now. Without a doubt, Wesker won't change and he'll continue to harm others to get what he wants..." Jake said sincerely, but turned sorrowful in the end. Mentally praying for his mother to forgive him for not being able to keep his promise to her.
Sherry looked at husband and touched his arm, knowing his promise to his mother. Jill grabbed her husbands arm, Elly whimpering a bit as she watched the fight, hearing the anger in her families voices and hearing the anger in Wesker's voice. Wesker growled and struggled harder but it was clear he was weakened by the attack that Sora dealt him, black blood dripping from the gaping wound in his chest.
"Sora..." Lanna said, watching. "They're right. There may have been a time, years ago that he could have been saved, reasoned with even, but it's too late for it. Some people are just plain evil and not worth saving. It needs to end."
Sora hearing this frowned, not liking how far things had come, but unable to deny the evidence before him. 'You best get it over with, Sora.' Roxas's voice said through his mind and heart. Shocking Sora that he was awake.
'Roxas! You're awake! Are you alright?!' Sora asked mentally through his mind, the only tell something was up was the brief moment his eyes widened. Before his face became focused again.
'Yeah, I'm fine, but don't let yourself get distracted from what's important here. I've been aware of what Wesker has done as I gone through your memories during the fight after I woke up. Your use of Final Form helped with that by the way and as I went over everything you learned...I can tell you this guy is the worst person either of us have come across. Xemnas never even pulled shit like this, but... somehow I fear the idea of them meeting or teaming up. Call it a feeling if you will, but we can't let this guy live.' Roxas explains through Sora's mind in their link.
Sora processing all of this only looks at Wesker with pity, disappointment, sorrow, regret, and determination at what he must do. "Nothing to say in your defense, Wesker? No final peace or resolve to change your ways and actually mean it? I'll know if you're lying, so don't try any tricks." Sora asks, despite his bad feeling...
Wesker smirked. "Even if you kill me, there will be more of me," he said. "Alex...is still alive. So even if I die, she will take care of my work. You and your friends will not live to see another day." He started to laugh mechanically, the glowing orb in his chest growing dark as the life started to bleed out of him. "No matter how much you fight...you will never fully eradicate the darkness."
Sora only sighed in sadness as he shook his head. "I see, then in that case," Sora starts before both keyblade tips started glowing in a bright silver light with sparks dancing on the tips. "Here's judgment from above, Thundaga!" Sora shouts as the thunder clouds above rained down huge thunderbolts. The bolts rained down, only to clash with a Neoshadow jumping out of the ground to take the hit. No one seeing Wesker get pulled down into a Dark Corridor at the last second. More Neoshadows soon appeared around the families, drawing Sora's attention and worry to them.
Ada, Lanna, Sherry, Jill and Kairi held their weapons, glaring at the Neoshadows. They were worn and tired but they would fight if needed to. Elly and Matthew whimpered and cried, holding onto their parents as they could smell danger, even if they couldn't fully understand it.
"Neoshadows...where did they come from?" Kairi wondered, feeling dread in the pit of her stomach as they were surrounded by the heartless. "I don't know," Ada said and looked at Sherry, Jill and Lanna. "How are you on ammo?"
"Full clip," Jill and Sherry said together. Lanna looked a bit off. "Full clip in my rifle and ten in my Glock."
"Out of magnum bullets, but my Ak-47 should have two clips." Jake responds feeling nervous as Riku weakly gets up holding his keyblade. "This...could be a problem..." Riku said trying to not show his weakness, but felt exhausted using so much power with an empty stomach. Leon stayed close to his wife as he and Chris held up their guns.
"Got one clip, how about you, Leon?"
"Half a clip, so I could be better..."
"Hang on guys!" Sora calls lashing out his telekinetic keyblades toward the Neoshadows. Drawing the attention of most of them as Sora tried to wipe them out without hitting his friends by mistake. Carefully placing his strikes through where large amounts of them gather.
The Neoshadows that didn't go after Sora turned to look at the group of humans, sensing their hearts beating in their chests. They growled and moved towards them slowly. Matthew screamed louder as he hung onto his mother, his face turning red from his wails. The Neoshadows were attracted to him.
"Firaga!" Kairi said, shooting a fireball at one and knocking it back and made it two of the others, causing a domino affect as they fell to the ground, giving some time to Sora so he could handle the one's that were coming his way. "Mom, you have to calm Matthew down," Lanna said, worried as she gripped her gun as four more came at them.
Lanna gritted her teeth as she shot at one of the Neoshadows, making it fallback. "It won't kill them but it can daze them," she said while Ada hit one of the shadows with a exploding arrow.
A Neoshadow tried to jump for Claire and Matthew, only to get shot off course by Leon shooting it out of the air. "Stay away from my wife and child you monster!" Leon shouted shooting it in hopes of stalling time. His efforts were rewarded as Riku cut it down. Glaring at the remaining heartless as he hatched a risky idea.
"A heartless is attracted to the darkness in people's hearts...If I make mine noticeable enough." Riku said to himself mentally preparing himself for his plan as he separated himself from the Redfield and Kennedy families. A dark aura becoming visible around Riku as he channeled as much darkness as he could without losing himself.
"Come and get it you bastards! One heart loaded with darkness right here!" Riku called out to the heartless in a daring manner. He sensed them having their attention now divided between Sora quickly killing off huge numbers of them, the civilians, and the dark keybearer flaring his darkness like a beacon.
"Riku, what are you doing?" Kairi called out, fear rushing through her as she saw Riku paint a target on himself as he started to draw some of the heartless to him. She was worried that he would do something stupid.
"Do you know what your doing?" Ada asked as she shot at another heartless, stunning it as she looked at her new friend and partner, hoping he knew what he was doing.
"Riku! You better be careful dang it!" Sora called as he was about to continue attacking, but his drive form faded in a flash of light. Revealing Sora in his normal clothes, with Donald and Goofy next to him.
"Nuts! Final Form wore off!" Sora said gritting his teeth in annoyance. The good news he could see was that the Neo Shadows were already running few in numbers now.
"Just something that might help give us an edge! Don't worry about me!" Riku calls channeling his darkness into his keyblade. "Dark Aura!" Riku shouts disappearing and warping around the field thrusting through multiple heartless. Gritting his teeth in pain as he tried to endure the darkness he had to use for this technique.
Appearing above them he charged his keyblade. "You're finished!" Riku shouts diving into the middle of a bunch of Neoshadows. Making them scatter as most of them died from the attack and shockwave released.
"That...should...do it..." Riku said panting before passing out in exhaustion.
"Riku!" Sora and Jake shouted in concern. Jake cursing as he stayed close to Sherry using his bullets to keep the few remaining heartless away from her. While Sora made his way to Riku. "Donald, Goofy, protect the Redfield and Kennedy families!" Sora called to his two companions and friends.
"Okay!" Donald said as he summoned his staff as did Goofy, staying in front of the reunited families as the heartless headed towards them with hunger in their gold eyes. Kairi sent out another firaga spell, sweat beading on her forehead as she was at her limit as well. She dropped to her knees as a Neoshadow started towards her.
"Kairi!" Lanna said lunging forward and tackled the shadow away from the girl and jumped back, missing a slash from it's claws. She wiped out her gun and shot at him in the face as she grabbed the back of Kairi's shirt and dragged her back to the others.
Sora quickly slashed down three Neoshadows heading for Riku and another sneaking up behind him.
"Stay away from my friends!" Sora shouts as he gave Riku a potion for his wounds and smiles seeing his rest peacefully. "I'll be back, Riku, just wait for me to clear out the remaining heartless." Sora promises to the unconscious young man and to himself as he ran toward the last five Neoshadows. "Let's finish this guys!"
"Right!" Donald said and cried out. "Blizzaga!" Ice went sailing and hit one, destroying it. Goofy's shield spun, slashing another heartless in half. Lanna concentrated and used what was left of her light and took down a third Neoshadow, leaving two left. Goofy slashed at a forth, leaving one left for Sora to handle.
"One left!" Claire said, watching the shadow's get destroyed.
"Zantetsuken!" Sora shouts as he blurred past the Neoshadow the froze. Sora appearing behind him as a wind blew by in a gentle gust, making the Neoshadow disperse into wisps of darkness. Looking around, Sora was glad to see Wesker and the Neo Shadows were no where in sight.
"Looks like...we finally did it." Sora says relieved as he looks at the survivors with a grateful smile. Glad to see them all alive and in one piece.
Claire smiled as she looked exhausted but happy all together. "Finally...it's over," she said, leaning against her husband. "We can finally go home."
Ada nodded and headed to Riku, worried about the teen and picked him up, carrying him bridal style. "We all need a rest," she said, smiling.
"A vacation," Jill said as she held Elly, relieved the nightmare was over. Lanna smiled tiredly as she fell on her ass, sitting next to Kairi. "Agreed..." Kairi said.
"A-fucking-men..." Jake said before flinching at the glare Claire and Jill both shot him for his cursing. Leon grinning as he looked at Claire. "Honey, didn't we have a swear jar policy for anytime Jake swore in front of our kids?" Leon asked making Jake pale at the idea of them collecting money for ALL the curse words he said in front of Lanna.
Sherry looked at Jake with a sympathetic smile, knowing her husband's habits when it came to swearing. Lanna looked at her parents. "Dad, Jake isn't nearly as bad as that jerk from training class, Mr. Burns," she said and shivered. She really despised that teacher and to her it felt like she was getting the worst of it, because she was Claire's and Leon's daughter. There had been days when she came home totally exhausted.
"Lanna, what do you mean by that?" Sora asks in concern about his girlfriend.
Lanna looked at Sora, smiling lightly. "My parents and my aunt and uncle are big names within the BSAA. I'm family and I'm training to be a full fledged agent for the organization," she said. "They don't cut you any slack, specially me. Mr. Burns is known to be a jerk with his trainees. Lately I've been his favorite target."
Claire frowned. "Lanna, why didn't you tell us?" she asked her daughter, worried. Lanna shrugged a bit. "I didn't want to sound like I was weak," she said, knowing she got that attitude from her uncle at times.
"It's not weak to tell us if someone is giving you unfair treatment..." Leon said mentally plotting how to get back at the bastard.
"I could have a chat with him if you, little red." Jake said with a grin on his face, mentally wondering which way he'd prefer to teach the prick a lesson.
"Maybe you can give him a taste of his own medicine!" Donald said grinning evilly as his tail twitched a bit. Some of his feathers on the top of his head curled into little horns and rubbed his hands together in a devious manner.
Lanna blinked at that and chuckled. "I know but I want to show him that I can stand on my two feet," she said as she stood up and stumbled a bit. "Ugh...well...not right now I can't."
Sherry chuckled a bit and looked at Sora and his friends. "Welcome to the family, guys," she said. "This is what we go through most days."
"Glad to be in it, now...which way do we go to get out of here?" Sora asks before seeing a camera flash, making him wince from the unexpected light. Turning he sees Jake aiming a camera at Riku being carried by Ada unconscious still. "What are you doing, Jake?"
"Oh, nothing much, Spikes, just saving the memories." Jake said with an smug smile. 'Now I can get payback for that hothead comment you little smart ass...' Jake thought deviously at the chance of payback.
An unexpected voice answered. "I can help with that" said the voice. Luis walked towards them slowly, a light smile on his face. "Hello Leon and Claire...it's been awhile."
Lanna looked at the Spaniard and looked back towards her dad, wondering how he would react to this.
"Luis...You're really alive..." Leon said shocked and feeling conflicting emotions of relief that his friend was alive, slight anger at him for being used as Maleficent's puppets to give birth to his child and keep them from their son, with shock and happiness he was still alive.
Luis rubbed the back of his head. "Aye...it's me" he said and sighed a bit. "I know...I have some explaining to do but I will once we get on the boat" he said and held up the keys. "It's already been cleaned out. They were gonna use it for war."
Claire looked at the man and walked towards him after handing Matthew to Sherry. She stood in front of Luis and slapped him across the face. Luis grunted, feeling the sting but said nothing. "That's for the pain," she said and hugged him. "But...thank you for keeping our son safe." Luis looked confused but patted the back of her back awkwardly. "Um...I am sorry for the trouble that was inflicted, especially the kids."
"We'll talk about that later, but right now I think we should take the ship. I don't want to be stuck on this island a second longer than needed." Leon said getting nods of agreement from the group, only for Chris to walk up to Luis.
"Luis, right? Listen, is there another Wesker on this island by chance? I don't want any surprises from this "Alex" that Wesker spoke of." Chris asks wanting to be sure everything was truly safe. He had more than enough twisted surprises for his lifetime and rather not expose Elly to any more nightmares than needed.
Luis looked at Chris. "Was. She disappeared when Maleficent went over the cliff," he said. "But let's get going. This place isn't my home anymore." He sighed and started walking down a hallway. "Come on, this is a short cut to the boats." Claire walked after him with the others behind her. Lanna walked alongside Sora.
"Alright, Leon, you and me take point just in case. I don't want anything reaching our kids." Chris says in a commanding tone that makes Leon roll his eyes. "sir, yes, sir, Captain Redfield." Leon says in a sarcastic tone that makes Jake smirk at his secret father figure.
Lanna chuckled as she heard her uncle give an 'order' and whispered to Jake. "Please tell me I won't be like that when I get his age," she said jokingly as Luis led them through the tunnel, which twisted and turned at odd angles. Donald and Goofy snickered as they heard this.
Elly held onto her mother, passing out from exhaustion as did Matthew, sleeping soundly in Claire's arms.
"Nah, I wouldn't let you become old boring Leon or Chris. They were bad asses back then, true, but you and me," Jake says gesturing to them both with a smirk on his face. "We're the bad asses now, little red."
"What about me!" Sora complains not liking that he was being left out being called a bad ass.
"You don't even need to be mentioned, Sora, you're in a league of your own." Jake says without missing a beat.
Lanna smiled at her boyfriend. "He's right, Sora," she said and winked at him. "You're one of the best." She nudged him gently. Kairi stayed close to Ada and the unconscious Riku as Ada carried him.
It didn't take long to reach the boat fortunately, but regardless Chris and Leon stayed in front of the group checking every door they came across. "Man this ship is huge! I wonder if Gummi ships could be this big?" Sora wonders walking next to Lanna admiring how fancy the boat was on the inside, compared to the outside looking like a machine of war.
"Have they been bigger?" Lanna asked curiously as the boat could have been a cruise ship if it had been cleaned up a bit. Luis led Leon and Chris to the control room and started up the ship.
Luis looked at the map and drove the boat from the docks, pulling away from the nightmare that plagued them for the last few hours.
"Well, I've seen ones bigger than our old ship, the Excalibur. So yeah, they could be, but I rarely get to fly them..." Sora explains before pouting at the end. Knowing how Cid and Donald teamed up to keep Sora from flying many of the gummi ships.
Lanna chuckled softly. "Something tells me that your not one of the best drivers," she said gently as Sherry helped Jill and Claire onto some crates to relax. Ada pulled out a blanket for Riku to lie on and sat down with Kairi on the other side of him. "But I wouldn't mind seeing the inside of a gummi ship."
"Well, I'll gladly fly you and your family once we get another one. Though I suspect we need to wait for King Mickey to come looking for us first." Sora said taking a seat next to Lanna, one hand holding her own gently. Much to Jake's amusement as he grinned and leaned against Sherry.
"Hey, Supergirl, how much you wanna bet they'll be married as soon as they turn legal?" Jake says smirking at the young lovers oblivious to Jake's whispering.
"I'd like that" Lanna said smiling as she held his hand and laid her head on his shoulder. She could feel herself relaxing finally. "I would love to meet the king as well."
Sherry looked at the couple and smiled softly. "I wouldn't be surprised. They're cute together," she said and leaned into her husband. "Also...I think it will help Lanna with her own demons."
"Also helps that Sora won't have to worry about being cockblocked once they are too." Jake says with a grin knowing Leon would be hounding Sora about Lanna's virginity. Hell, he had to go through a lecture from Claire when he did it with Sherry and Leon pulled a shotgun on him. At least until Sherry and Claire got on his case about it.
Sherry chuckled. "I don't think they're ready for that step yet," she said, unaware of that little bedroom scene back at the castle between them. "Knowing Leon and Claire, they'll have Lanna on birth control first and plenty of boxes for protection." She grinned and looked at Jake, kissing him softly.
