PAW PATROL

It's funny how karma works, how it just won't leave one person alone but rather disturb a whole group of people. Of course, for Skye, this saying didn't go without mention. The past few weeks had been somewhat of a trial. Bring out of commission along with a whole masquerade of people worrying about her wasn't something that was on Skye's bucket list. Far from it. After what somewhat felt like a lifetime later, her copter and wings were passed off as "safe". But karma being karma, one rescue turned into a huge disaster.

PAW PATROL

It had been a very causal day, the city looked marvelous under the shinning sun. Kids blossomed under the sun as the water splashed upon their hot bodies. Parents sat and talked about the daily pleasures of life. Overall, it was a very nice day, everything looked normal.

But as Adventure City might have it, something good always has a negative side to it. Mayor Humdinger had snuck in and caused trouble. Trouble was an understatement.

"Hmm, apparently..fireworks don't react well with buildings," Mayor Humdinger said as he stared up at the burning building. Ash and smoke lingered in the air as a small child about seven years old looked down at the street. There was no way down, there was no way out, the child was stuck inside the blazing apartment complex.

"Mommy! Help!" The child cried, her vision slowly dimming. Everyone from below looked up in pure horror as the child laid down on the window seal and didn't get back up.

"Luna! My child, someone help!" A women in her earlier years cried out. Feeling helpless, the tears, her child burning, it was all to much. The women gave one last scream and fell in a dead faint.

"Somebody call the Paw Patrol!"

Everyone scrambled and got out their cell phones, a young lady got to her phone first and called with much desperation. If she didn't hurry, the child was going to die. In the worst way possible. Being burnt alive didn't sound like the best way to leave this world, dying in general just didn't.

Meanwhile, on the other end, Ryder was inside watching the city with a careful eye. Something felt off, the feeling in his stomach told him exactly that. Not that the other pups didn't feel it as well, it just that they didn't pay as much attention it as Ryder was currently doing.

When his pup pad rang, his uneasy feeling was confirmed. With shaky hands, Ryder answered the call.

"Paw Patrol here at service, what seems to be the problem?"

A young women of about 16 years old appeared, her face seemed to be stuck in overdrive. Her features were full of pure agony, face, and all.

"Ryder, no time to explain but there's a fire down on Mango 12th street, an apartment complex. There's an adolescent girl stuck on the tenth floor! Please hurry."

"Don't worry, we'll get there as fast as we can!" Ryder said and hung up the call. Using a simple button, all the pups were notified and made their way over with haste. It only took a few seconds before all the pups were there.

"Ok Pups, we have a grim situation on our hands. There's an apartment complex on fire but what's even worse is that there is a younger girl stuck inside the raging building!"

All the pups gasped; time was of the essence. If there was one tiny slip up, someone could die. The Paw Patrol was determined to not let anything happen. Anything but that. This mission had to go perfectly.

"Ok, I need Chase; you will use your cones to make sure that everyone is away from the scene."

Chase yelped, "Chase is on the case!"

"Next, I need Skye; you will use your copter to make sure the girl gets out safely."

Skye whimpered; it had been awhile since she used her copter. Flying was something that had become a speedbump in her previous experiences. But others were in trouble, she couldn't just stand and not do anything. Plus, her family was counting on her. Anyhow, she had always loved to fly, so how could she be scared. Right?

Skye yelped, "This pup's gotta fly!"

"Lastly, I need Rocky, I need you to use stuff from your truck to create something to hold up the building so that it wouldn't collapse."

Rocky yelped, "Green means Go!"

"Ok, Paw Patrol is on a roll!"

Now that Skye was officially in the air, everything felt unreal and beyond life itself. Why was she so scared before? Being in the air was amazing, there was nothing that she could say to even begin to describe it.

"Ok, Skye be careful," Ryder said on her pup tag.

"Will do Ryder, now what was her name again?"

"Luna"

Skye nodded and navigated her copter all the way to the little girl. Luna had gained consciousness soon after she passed out from smoke inhalation, but even now…she was still way out of it. Only able to hang on to the ledge and hear simple commands were the capable things that Luna could manage.

"Luna! Luna! Come on look at me!" A distant voice called out to her.

Luna looked up as the world tipped on itself. Her vision was fuzzy, her mind even more confused. Was that a pup on a helicopter? Wait…a pup and a helicopter. Where had she seen that before? Hmm…wait the Paw Portal! Everything now made sense…well to a certain extent. There was only so much that she could comprehend with her current situation.

"Ok Luna, I need to sit yourself up," Skye called out. Luna managed but fell back down. Using all her strength, the second time was successful.

Skye swung her copter to the right and managed to cling her strap on Luna. Carefully, Skye got Luna to the ground safely. Once Luna was placed on the ground, she collapsed into a small heap on the concrete.

"Luna!" Her mother cried out. She held unto her daughter tightly as she cried into Luna's shoulder blades.

"Hey Marshall, I need you over here to check out Luna," Ryder said a small distance from where the scene was taking place.

Marshall yelped, "I'm fired up!"

Meanwhile, Skye was watching all this take place from the sky. After being out of commission for so long, the air and breeze felt like heaven. The sound of the copter blades spinning along with the small but simple sound of the motor running were refreshing.

Gosh, why did I stay away so long?

Maybe it was the fear or the perfection talking all those weeks. Maybe it was the rejection that she felt from deep inside herself. Either way, it had been way to long. There was no denying that fact.

From what she was seeing, Marshall had arrived at the scene and was currently checking Luna. Skye hoped that Luna be ok, little girls didn't deserve to leave this world at such a young age. It wouldn't be fair. With that thought, Skye wanted to go closer to the scene and see if Luna was alright.

Setting her copter down safety on a nearby rooftop, Skye opened her wings in her pup pack. Taking one long last breath, she lept off the rooftop.

Then…. disaster struck. Skye's wings gave a small pop and went flying off with her.

Without her control.

Spinning wildly throughout the air and trying to manage how to control yourself is not easy. Especially when there is nothing to attach yourself to.

"Ryder!" Skye cried out. The ground was coming up way closer than intended.

"Skye? What's going on? Why are you spinning around?"

"I can't control my wings!" Skye replied as small tears feel down her cheeks. Her stomach twisted as her mind went to intense speeds.

Come on Skye

But whatever she tried was a fruitless attempt. Her wings had their own mind now, her wings controlled her. Not the other way around.

"Ok Skye, just breathe, we'll figure something out," Ryder said hastily.

But to be honest, there was nothing that could be done. Stopping a machine or wings was easier said than done. Skye was the only one who could stop the outcome but frankly, she couldn't do much either. But what Ryder said was mostly true, she needed to just breathe and think this through.

Just breathe Skye

And just like that, an idea came right to her head as the ground laid only inches from her face.

A/N: Okie so…. don't be mad at me, I don't do a lot of cliffhangers. What's going to happen to Skye? Is she going to be hurt? Who knows! I have 2 more chapters planned for this story, and then…I don't know. Thank you to everyone who is currently supporting this story, it means a lot :).

I am also going on vacation for a week, I'm sorry about that. But I promise with all my heart that the next chapter will be posted as soon as I get home. Love you all!
