JAG'ed Bones in a Casckett asked that I give a little closure to chapter 34 from my story "A Bad Day." He wants Booth to see that what he did for David Morton worked out. If you wish to see David Morton's back story, read chapter 34 of "A Bad Day", but it isn't necessary to read this chapter.
I don't own Bones.

Unaware that his wife was busy, Booth walked up the stairs to the platform and stopped when he saw that Brennan was in the midst of lecturing several interns. He had decided not to bother her when he noticed that one of her new interns seemed familiar. Moving up on to the platform, he stared at the young man with interest.
Noticing Booth staring at him, the young intern grinned at him and gave him a little wave.
Brennan puzzled with her intern's behavior, stopped her lecture. "Is there a problem Mr. Morton?"
Averting his attention back to Brennan, David solemnly shook his head. "No Doctor Brennan. I just saw an old friend of mine and waved at him. I didn't mean to disrupt your class."
Curious, Brennan turned and noticed her husband standing at the top of the steps. Surprised, Brennan turned back towards her intern. "Booth is your old friend?"
Nodding his head, David smiled, "Yes ma'am. My mother and I consider him our guardian angel."
A blush blooming on his cheeks, Booth shook his head. "Sorry, Bones. I didn't mean to interfere with your class."
Nodding her head, Brennan returned her attention back to the skeleton she and her interns were examining.
After he left the platform, Booth walked over to Lester's office and leaned in the open doorway. "Hey, how about going with me to the Diner for a coffee break? Bones is busy with a class."
Hungry, Lester stood up, grabbed his car keys from his jacket hanging on the back his door and started to complain. "I'll be happy when you can drive again. I'm tired to doing all the driving."
Snorting, Booth agreed with the younger man. "No shit, you and me both."

Later that afternoon, Booth was finishing up a report that the Director needed on his desk the next morning, when he heard a rap on his door frame. Looking up, he spied David Morton standing there.
Waving him in, Booth smiled at the young man. "Well David Morton aged 17, you surprised me this morning."
Amused, David laughed as he entered the room. "When are you going to quit calling me David Morton aged 17? I'm 21 now. At least change that part."
Shaking his head, Booth stood and walked around his desk. David walking rapidly across the room, grabbed Booth around the chest and hugged him. "Hey man, Mom and I were so shook up when you were hurt in the car crash. It was bad enough when you were almost murdered by that psycho cop but then . . ." Swallowing, David released Booth. "Mom and I went to church every evening to pray for you. I told Mom that I'd see you soon enough and I'd be able to tell her what you looked like."
Pleased that his young friend was so concerned for him, Booth squeezed David's shoulder. "You tell your mother that I'm sorry it's been so long since I've seen her. You know, I was hurt and then well I was hurt again and I haven't been driving for months now. You can tell her that as soon as I can, I'll come by for a visit."
Entering the room, Brennan stared at the strange sight of her husband talking to her intern about visiting the young man's mother. "Booth, do you know Mr. Morton?"
Booth released David's shoulder and smiled at his wife. "I sure do. David threatened to kill me when he was 17. He held a knife on me and wanted my wallet."
Shocked, Brennan turned to stare at her young intern. "I have read your background bio as I do with all of my interns. I don't recall seeing that you had a criminal record."
A little embarrassed, David gave Brennan a sheepish grin. "Well, I don't have one. When I held the knife on Booth, he took it away from me and threatened to kill me. He was having a bad day that day and he was pissed at the world. I cried like a baby I was so scared. I'd never done anything like that, but my mother was sick and we didn't have any money for decent food. She'd been sick for weeks and her employer fired her because of it. We were falling behind on our rent and Mom was seriously considering having us live in her car and she was just getting sicker and sicker. I was so scared. We were trying to get some help, but there was a long line of people in the same boat she was in. She was just too sick to get a job and she didn't have any insurance to see a doctor. We'd gone to Emergency, but they just told her she had the flu and let her go."
Sitting back down behind his desk, Booth frowned. "Long story short, I took the knife from David along with his driver's license and I told him if he got into any more trouble I'd have him arrested for attempted murder of a federal agent."
Frimly, David waved his hand and interrupted Booth. "Booth gave me thirty dollars so I could buy Mom some decent food. The next day, someone knocked on our door and there was someone from' Catholic Relief Services' standing there. Mrs. Conner said that Booth was a friend of hers and asked her to look in on us. She helped my Mom see a doctor. We found out she had an upper respiratory infection and once that got better, Mrs. Conner helped Mom find another job. Mrs. Conner didn't really have to do all that, but she said that Agent Booth had done Monsignor Wallace a favor by finding the killer of Father Cooper and she and the Monsignor wanted to help us as a payback for what Booth had done for them."
Shrugging his shoulders, Booth blushed. "I was just doing my job."
David frowned at Booth and denied it. "Not hardly. You could have arrested me and you didn't. You put my mother in contact with people that helped her get better and get a new job. Mrs. Conner also found me a job and that helped me pay the bills. I stayed in school because of you and well, you know Mom pushed me to go to medical school, but I wanted to go into forensic anthropology so that I could fight for justice like you do. You know I'd be a terrible cop, but science will let me do my part." Turning to Brennan, David bashfully smiled at her. "My mother and I owe Booth everything. He's a great man."
Rolling his eyes, Booth protested. "Stop it, now. I didn't do anything special. I've told you that more times than I can count. I just did my Christian duty to make sure that your Mom got a chance. She deserved it. She worked hard her whole life and when she got sick her employers just tossed her out, the bastards."
A look of irritation crossing his face, David advised Brennan, "Don't believe a word he says. Booth is a hero as far as Mom and I are concerned. We pray the rosary for him once a week. He used to come by once a month to visit me and my Mom. We haven't seen him since he was attacked and almost died. We wanted to, but we couldn't find him once he moved out of his apartment and the super of his apartment said that he was being taken care of so we knew he was okay." David turned to face Booth again. "We tried to call, but we kept going to voice mail and then I guess you switched phone service and we didn't have your number anymore. Mom called over to the Hoover once, but they told her they couldn't give out personal information so we just decided to wait. When I was accepted as one of Dr. Brennan's interns I figured I'd see you sooner or later."
A look of admiration on Brennan's face, she turned to stare at her husband. "I think he's a hero too. He's very brave and I know he tries hard to be a good man."
Shaking his head, Booth leaned back on his chair. "You two are getting carried away. I'm just an ordinary guy just trying to do what's right. Now if you don't mind, I need to finish my report for Director Foor and then I want to go home. It's nice to see that you're doing so well, David. You tell your mother I'll come see her next month when I'm driving again."
With a jaunty salute, David smiled at his hero. "Will do, Booth. I hope you get well real soon."
After the young man left the room, Brennan smiled and then turned to look at her husband. "Why didn't you tell me about David?"
Shrugging his shoulders, Booth turned to reopen his file on his PC. "Because it's not a big deal. Now, I have to finish this report, so if you plan to leave at a decent hour let me finish it so we can go home."
Determined to show him that she was proud of him, Brennan walked rapidly across the room, leaned over Booth and kissed him on the cheek. "I love you Booth."
Surprised, Booth turned his head and returned her kiss. "I love you too. Now let me work please."
Leaving her husband's office, Brennan walked over to her office and sat down on the couch. Wiping a tear from her cheek, she swallowed. "You're a constant surprise, Booth."
