Thank you for reviewing my story. I really appreciate it.

I don't own Bones.

Going over their lists, Booth stopped at the wine list. "Wow, are you sure you want to serve that wine? It's a little expensive."

In a playful mood, Brennan leaned over and kissed his cheek. "Well I could serve cheaper wine if you insist. Would you like the kind with the twist off cap to make it easier to open?"

Snorting, Booth made a check next to the wine. "Yeah, I don't think so. I gave that stuff up when I was in college. I may not be a wine snob, but I'm not drinking plonk either."

Amused, Brennan laughed. "I was just joking with you. I like that wine and yes it's a little expensive, but not exorbitantly so."

Handing the lists to Brennan, Booth leaned back on his chair. "Everything looks fine to me. I'm glad we're catering this party . . . Oh, I talked to Pops this morning and he said he'd be happy to stay with us during the holidays. I'm going to go get him the day after the party. I wanted him to come sooner, but he said he isn't much of a partier anymore and he'd be pissed if there was a party going on outside his bedroom door when it was time for him to go to sleep."

"Alright." Standing, Brennan retrieved her lap top from the kitchen and brought into the dining room. Placing it on the table, she sat down. "Parker will be here the week after the party. I think we should stock up on his favorite foods and drinks the next time we go to the market. He's a growing boy and if he's anything like you, we'll need to double our grocery list."

Unamused, Booth glared at his wife. "Ha ha . . . yeah that's so funny. I can't help it if I eat a lot, I'm a big guy."

Laughing at his expression, Brennan shook her head. "Thank goodness you aren't a bigger guy. You must have a high metabolism."

A sly look on his face, Booth leaned over and capturing her hands, kissed her. "I think you have something to do with me staying in shape . . . if you know what I mean."

Her lips lingering near his, Brennan smiled. "I do know what you mean."

Wiggling his eye brows, Booth commented, "It's getting late, want to burn off some extra calories right now?"

Brennan stood up and pulled her husband towards the staircase. "I think I would . . . thank you."

After he entered Booth's office, Lester spied a Tupperware box sitting on the corner of Booth's desk. Opening it he found several very tempting brownies. Glancing towards the doorway, he saw that he was still alone and turned back towards the box. Grabbing two brownies, he closed the lid and turned to leave the office.

Approaching his office, Booth observed his lieutenant bite into a brownie and called out to him. "Hey, did I say you could have one of my brownies?"

Emabarrassed he'd been caught, Lester swallowed his bite of cake and smiled. "You didn't say I couldn't have one either."

Critical of Lester's reasoning, Booth stopped and placed his hands on his hips. "I have to actually know what you're up to if I'm going to tell you no, Sport. Next time ask me."

Shrugging his shoulders, Lester saluted Booth with a brownie. "I'll get Claire to make some brownies and bring you some. How about that?"

Appeased, Booth smiled at his young friend. "It's a deal . . . Those brownies you're eating are vegan brownies, by the way. Bones made them for me."

Cautiously, Lester held up the second brownie and looked at it very closely. Sniffing it, he shrugged his shoulders and proceeded to eat it. His mouth full, he managed to say, "Tastes okay to me."

Grumpily, Booth explained, "I know, it's just if you're going to eat a brownie it should be a brownie not a goody goody brownie. It just seems wrong to me."

Patting Booth's stomach, Lester moved away quickly. "She's just taking care of you that's all."

Angry, Booth pointed his finger at his retreating lieutenant. "Touch me again like that and you might lose a finger or two."

Laughing, Lester waved his hand. "Got it."

Booth grumbled as he stalked into his office and over to his desk. Picking up his container of brownies, he hid them in the credenza behind his desk. "Damn smart ass."

Receiving a call that afternoon, Booth heard Detective Simmons on the phone. "What can I do for you?

I know Dr. Brennan is on sabbatical, but I was wondering if I could get you to come to a crime scene. I need your expert opinion on something."

Curious, Booth stood up and grabbed his jacket from the coat tree. "Sure, tell me where to go and I'll be there."

I have a squad car on the way to pick you up. I need you here in a hurry and your car doesn't have sirens. The car should be there or almost.

His interest piqued, Booth leaned over and pulled his hat from the coat tree popping it on his head. "Okay, I'm on my way." Shrugging into his jacket, Booth walked across the hall and leaned into Cam's office. "I'm on the way to a crime scene. I don't know why, but anyway tell Lester where I'm at if you see him."

Waving her hand, Cam replied, "Got it."

Sirens blasting, Booth turned to look at the patrolman driving the car. "What's the rush?"

His eyes on the road, Officer Dickens answered the question. "The FBI showed up at the crime scene a little while ago and Detective Simmons doesn't want to give up jurisdiction. The FBI Agent isn't budging so I guess we're at a standstill. Detective Simmons asked me to come get you and see if you could tell him whether or not we have a case for it being a District murder. He thinks the FBI might be willing to listen to you."

Appalled, Booth watched as their patrol car narrowly missed hitting a car crossing in front of their path. Pissed, he admonished the officer. "I'd rather get there in once piece if you don't mind. My wife will get really pissy with you if you cause a wreck and I end up hurt again, just so you know that."

Slowing down a little, Corporal Dickens nodded his head. "Yeah, my wife wouldn't be too happy about me getting hurt in an accident either."

Arriving at Anacostia Park, Booth grumbed at the officer. "It's a park."

Aware that Booth wasn't happy with the situation, Officer Dickens explained, "Well now hold on to your horses, the body was found on the riverbank outside the park." Pulling up behind two squad cars and two black SUVs, the policeman put his car in Park and turned towards Booth. "Give the Detective a chance to explain."

Opening the passenger door, Booth glanced back at the patrolman. "Oh believe me, I'm going to let him do just that." Exiting the car, Booth firmly closed the door, wove around the parked trucks and cars and stalked over towards the river bank.

Detective Simmons spotting Booth first, remarked to Special Agent Myers. "Okay, let's see what Booth says."

Turning, Agent Myers placed his hands on his hips and muttered, "Ah shit."

Reviews would be wonderful, thank you.
