Thank you for reviewing my story. I appreciate it.
I don't own Bones.
Oooooooooooooo
Grateful that Booth was finally on the scene, Detective Simmons waved his hand and called out. "Booth . . . just the man we need."
Angry that Booth had been called in, Agent Myers tried to make it clear that the FBI was in charge. "I don't know why he called you out here Booth, but I'm going to tell you what I told him." Myer pointed at the Park entrance. "That is a National Park so this is an FBI case. End of discussion."
"A boat on the river, for God's sake." Detective Simmons angrily pointed at the body lying in the bottom of the row boat. "A body in a god damn boat, Agent Myers. The boat is on the river not in the park. This is not an FBI case and you know it."
Stepping closer to the boat, Booth looked in and saw the body of a boy approximately fifteen years of age. Irritated, Booth walked back over to where the police detective and the FBI agent were standing. "Listen up, the kid is in a boat on the river, so that makes it Coast Guard jurisdiction if they want it. Neither one of you have jurisdiction, but if you don't want to involve the Coast Guard then why don't you both work on the case together?"
"Bullshit! This is all part of Anacostia National Park and therefore my jurisdiction." Agent Myers pointed at Booth and Detective Simmons and raised his voice to show his displeasure. "You two have no business at my crime scene. You can both leave now."
Furious with Myers, Simmons grabbed Booth's arm and pulled him along as he walked away from the river bank. Muttering, he released Booth's arm after they were back at where the cars and trucks were parked. Pulling his phone from his pocket, Simmons turned to look back at the river. "Are you sure this is Coast Guard jurisdiction?"
Shrugging his shoulders, Booth surveyed the river. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure. If it isn't it should be. Myers is just an ass sometimes."
Lips now curled into a smirk, Simmons made a phone call. "Yeah, I'd like to report a body in a small boat on the river right across from the entrance to Anacostia Park . . ."
Shaking his head, Booth walked back over to where Corporal Dickens was standing. "You can take me back to the Jeffersonian."
Curious how it went, the policeman asked Booth, "So who has jurisdiction?"
Opening the passenger car door, Booth smiled. "The Coast Guard. It's a boat on a river. They both should have known that."
Amused, Officer Dickens laughed, opened the driver's side door and entered his car. "Oops, someone made a mistake."
Buckling his seat belt, Booth grumbled. "Common sense would have done wonders and saved me a car ride."
Ooooooooooooo
"What the hell, Booth!" Furious, Harris roared in his phone. "That was Myers' case, you had no right calling the Coast Guard. Now CGIS is claiming the case."
Shifting his phone to his left ear, Booth flipped a page on the manual he was researching. "You're barking up the wrong tree. I didn't call the Coast Guard. All I did was point out to Simmons and Myers that the body was on a boat in the river and that made it Coast Guard jurisdiction if they wanted it. If someone called CGIS it wasn't me."
Oh.
Amused, Booth studied the diagram and smiled. "Yeah . . . oh."
Clearing his throat, Harris calmly decided to mend his fence. "Okay sorry . . . um, why were you involved anyway?"
His finger moving over the diagram, Booth absently replied. "The District police wanted jurisdiction and wanted me to get it for them. They pay me to consult with them on their cases if they need it. I've told you this before . . . Pay attention. I was honest and I gave an honest opinion, end of story."
Appeased, Harris changed the subject. "Hey, Susan RSVPd your invitation. We'll be at your party."
Turning the page on the manual, Booth and continued to read. "I know . . . Now if you're done being an ass for the day, I have work to do." Ending the call, he placed his phone in his jacket pocket and continued to study his manual.
Oooooooooooooooo
That evening, Booth entered the house with a bouquet of daisies and daffodils. Placing his jacket on the back of the couch, he started his search for Brennan. Finding her in her office, he leaned against the doorway and cleared his throat. "Hey, I'm home."
Startled, Brennan looked up from her monitor and frowned. "I didn't realize what time it was. I haven't started dinner yet."
Entering the room, Booth moved the flowers from behind his back and handed them to his wife.
Surprised at the gift, she stood up and placed the flowers near her nose and inhaled. "Thank you."
Kissing her cheek, Booth smiled. "You're welcome. It's been a dreary overcast day all day and I thought I'd brighten up your day a little."
Pleased with her husband's consideration, Brennan placed the bouquet on her desk and turned back towards Booth. A smile on her lips, she placed her hands on his chest, leaned forward and kissed him. "They're lovely."
"I missed you today." Kissing her, he stared into her silver blue eyes. "How'd your meeting with your publisher go?"
Picking up the flowers, Brennan walked over towards the doorway. "She was pleased and passed it on to my editor. I'm glad that part is over. Now I'm free to do what I want to do."
Happy someones day was going well, Booth followed her into the living room. "That's great. I'm happy for you. I knew you could do it . . . Hey would you like to go out for dinner tonight to celebrate? We can maybe go to a club and dance a little."
Interested, Brennan stopped and turned towards Booth. "That sounds like a wonderful idea. I'll place these flowers in a vase and go upstairs to change clothes."
Happy, Booth walked over to the staircase. "I'll change clothes right now. Make sure you wear something warm, it's cold as hell right now."
Entering the kitchen, Brennan assured him. "Believe me I will."
Ooooooooooooooooo
His hands on her waist and her arms around his chest, they swayed to the music, barely moving on the floor. "This is nice."
"It is." Booth's chin rested on her shoulder. "It's very nice. We don't do this enough."
Her eyes closed, Brennan felt comfortable in her husband's arms. "I do love dancing with you."
Moving slowly to the rhythm, Booth asserted, "Mm, not as much as I love dancing with you and the best part is now I don't have to share you with anyone else."
His statement rather curious, Brennan moved her hands further south. "What do you mean?"
Shifting his hands so they were clasped behind her back, Booth explained, "Well, when we were just partners I didn't have a right to keep guys from cutting in when they wanted to dance with you. Now I can and I will."
Amused, Brennan opened her eyes and looked at his profile. "Well, that works both ways Booth. All of your dances should be with me. I don't think I want you dancing with anyone else but me."
Chuckling, Booth moved his head so he could stare at her. "You got a deal. We'll only dance with each other from now on."
Filled with warmth and contentment, Brennan kissed him. "I love you Booth."
His lips hovering near hers, Booth cheekily replied, "I know."
Laughing, Brennan shook her head. "I think it's social convention to say that you love me too."
Pressing his lips against her lips, Booth took he breath away before responding. "I love you, Bones. Never doubt that."
Ooooooooooooooooo
Reviews would be wonderful, thank you.
