Christmas Eve (Chapter 19)
The girls were getting ready for their trip to the mall to buy Christmas presents for their annual secret Santa with the Cadets. Miss Grimwood took around the hat, and passed out slips of paper. It was simple the names of all the Cadets, Grimwwod girls, along with Miss G, Cornell C, and Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy were in the hat. Dani, and the girls waited to grab a slip of paper. Miss Grimwood pulled hers out, and opened it gingerly; to make sure it wasn't her name. She smiled as she read the name, and continued to pass the hat around. When it was Dani's turn she pulled out a piece of paper. Her person was Grunt.
"Oh great," Dani thought to herself sarcastically. "I get the one I have no idea what to buy for."
Phantasma laughed at her slip, and Winnie half howled, half growled at hers. Elsa looked pleased, and Sibella just about flipped.
Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy looked like they wanted to switch names, but Miss Grimwood shot them a warning glance.
"Now that we have all got our names sorted out, who wants to take the hat over to Calloway's?" Miss Grimwood asked with excitement lining her voice.
"You bat I will," Sibella said bounding over to Miss Grimwood before anyone else could speak. She transformed taking the hat in one of her little bat feet.
"When she gets back we will get ready to take our trip to the mall," Miss Grimwood announced. "Wear something festive."
The girls retreated to their rooms, and Dani had no idea what she was supposed to wear. She glanced over at Phanty who had put on reindeer antlers, and a red nose. Dani couldn't help but laugh. "Who are you? Tasma the red nosed ghostdeer."
"Here you go, Dani. Have my Frosty the Snowman hat," Phanty said tossing her hat like a frisbee to Dani.
Dani wore the hat, and gaped at Phanty when Frosty's scarf fell out of the hat.
"Dani the ghostman, are you in there?" Phantasma asked as Dani sort of spaced out with the scarf around her neck, and the hat atop her head.
"Happy birthday!" Dani exclaimed.
"Exactly." Phanty laughed.
They headed back down stairs to meet the others. Sibella was dressed like Mrs. Clause. She wore a long red dress with white trimming, and a feminine santa hat. Tanis was dressed as an elf, with a little green hat, and a red bow on top near one of the stitched on ears. Elsa was dressed as Santa Clause giving Sibella a peck on the cheek, and wrapping an arm around her. Winnie came down the steps followed by a show tune.
"I'm Mister green Christmas. I'm Mister sun. I'm Mister heat blister. I'm Mister 101. Friends call me-"
"We get it already, you're Heat miser," Elsa interrupted.
Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy joined them shortly after that. Shaggy was Snow miser. Scooby was Mrs. Clause. Scrappy was Bumble the abombinal snowman. Miss Grimwood joined the group dressed like Cindy Lou Who.
Sibella, and Scooby looked at each other in confusion. "Rhat? I ridn't rnow you were Risses Rlause," Scooby said.
"It is alright Scooby. You wear it better." Sibella smiled at the canine.
"So, are you all ready to go?" Miss Cindy Lou asked(Grimwood).
Everyone nodded, and they all headed to Coach Rogers van.
The drive to the mall was short, and Dani still couldn't figure out what to buy Grunt. She stayed close to Phanty; who looked like she knew what she was doing.
In the end Dani bought Grunt a personalized Santa hat, and a few packages of candy canes, and different candies. Phanty had bought a bunch of dog toys, and a white hoodie with a tye dying kit. Elsa purchased a thin silver chain with a delicate looking heart on the chain. Sibella found a leather wallet, and a journal set with a few colored gel pens. Tanis skipped around searching for something, anything, for her secret Santa; she settled on flavored lip balm, and lights shaped like ghosts in various color. Winnie picked up a small stuffed teddy bear, and dvd set of Gravity Falls.
After they ate lunch, and met up with their Coach, and Miss Grimwood; they went back to the school.
Miss Grimwood gave them wrapping paper, scissors, name tags, and tape. They wrapped their presents, and labeled them, and once the last to category was filled out they gathered each others presents to carry them over to Calloway's.
By them time the girls made it over there the Cadets already had their gifts wrapped, and under the tree. The girls placed there gifts under the tree, and left slowly waving at the Cadets.
"We will meet you guys here on Christmas Eve," Shaggy said, leading the girls out of the military school.
The next few days were uneventful; filled with buzzing, and bustling it was just that time of year. Miss Grimwood was making cookies both chocolate chip, and caterpillar. Matches even was getting into the spirit, it was apparent because he didn't burn the wreath, or the Christmas tree.
The morning of Christmas Eve the girls were up, and ready to go to Calloway's, even Dani. They dressed in matching red velvet dresses, and delicate Santa hats except for Tanis who wore a red velvet bow decorated with white snowflakes, and a two white puff balls hung from the fringes of the bow.
The Cadets wore blue flannel pajamma's, and elf hats. Only Baxter stood out wearing reindeer antlers. Cornell Calloway entered the barracks followed by the Grimwood girls, their Coaches, and Miss Grimwood.
They sat together in a semi circle around the tree. Glances flew across the room trying to figure out who was their secret Santa. Cornell Calloway, stood in front of the tree and began to pull presents out from under the tree. He began to read off the names.
"Dani. Tug. Jamal. Winnie. Elsa. Baxter. Grunt. Sibella. Scooby. Miss Grimwood. Miguel. Tanis. Scrappy. Shaggy. Phantasma. Finally me," Cornell Calloway announced passing out presents.
"Open on the count of three. One, two, three," Miss Grimwood counted.
The presents were opened, and everyone looked happy, or surprised. Dani was shocked at her present. It was a game slip cover that had Danny Phantom's symbol on it, and a Super Mario game that she loved to play with Danny. Grunt looked pleased with what Dani got him he loved the hat, and the sweets. Tug had received the wallet, and journal set. With a smile he looked at Dani, who shook her head. Winnie got the dog toys, and the oversized hoodie with the tye dye kit. Scooby sat there cuddling his boxes of Scooby snacks. Shaggy was visibly drooling over the Scooby snacks, and the gift certificate that he was given for the local pizza place. Miss Grimwood got fake flowers, and a best teacher plaque with her name engraved in it for her office. Cornell Calloway was given a trophy, that held some meaning to him. Baxter blushed slightly, when he saw the small teddy bear, and the Gravity falls dvd. He decided silently to call the teddy bear Dipper. Elsa opened up her present finding the lip gloss, and light up ghosts smiling; she knew that Tanis was her secret Santa. Tanis took her necklace over to Elsa, and asked her to help her put it on.
"Thanks, Elsie."
"No problem, my secret Tanis." Elsa smiled.
Jamal sat next to Miguel, and they took their matching robot sets to build a mega robot. Phantasma giggled with she saw her present they were thin chains, and a string of light blue Christmas lights. Scrappy got a new collar, and a special dog toy. Sibella got her first cape, and a couple of new dresses.
After the presents were exchanged the secret part of the secret Santa was done. Everyone announced who they had. Tanis had Elsa, and in vise versa. Winnie had Cadet Baxter. Cadet Baxter had Miss Grimwood. Miss Grimwood had Cornell Calloway. Cornell Calloway had Dani. Dani had Grunt. Grunt had Phantasma. Phantasma had Winnie. Jamal had Scrappy. Scrappy had Scooby. Scooby had Miguel. Miguel had Shaggy. Shaggy had Sibella. Sibella had Tug. Tug had Jamal.
The group cleaned up the barracks, and gathered their things before they returned home. The girls were getting ready to go home tonight for Christmas morning. Sibella was flying, Phanty was meeting her father in the ghost zone, and the rest were getting rides from Shaggy.
