Thank you for your continued interest in my story.

I don't own Bones.

Oooooooooooooooooooooo

The holidays over, Booth reluctantly took his son to the airport and watched stoically as the boy left for England again. Reminding himself that Parker would return for the Easter Holidays, he left the airport and drove over to the Jeffersonian.

Entering the Lab, Booth was met by Lester who was clearly agitated. "It's about time you got here."

Ignoring his lieutenant, Booth walked over to his office and entered it, Lester trailing behind him. Hanging his coat on his coat tree, Booth turned and looked at the younger man, "What? What is so damn important that you have to harass me the minute I walk in here?"

Holding up his hands, Lester made a calming gesture, "Okay, I was going to call you right away, but Dr. Brennan told me not to and then Cam said she'd call you and Dr. Brennan got all pissy . . ."

Fear suddenly seizing his throat, Booth barely croaked out, "Where's Bones? Did something happen to her?"

Stepping closer, Lester swallowed, "The paramedics were here and they said she's okay. She's . . ."

Unable to wait for Lester to continue, Booth ran past the man and out of his office. Knowing he was making a mistake, Booth ran as fast as he could to Brennan's office and barged in to the room. Spying Brennan, he raced over to the couch and with his hand pressed against his chest, Booth tried to catch his breath as he croaked out, "What happened? . . . Are . . . alright?"

Worried that Booth couldn't catch his breath Brennan stood up and pulled Booth down so he could sit down next to her. His breathing harsh, she gripped his arm and tried to reassure him, "I'm fine, Booth. You need to relax. Try not to force it. Relax. I'm not hurt. Relax and . . ." His breathing starting to return to normal, Brennan relaxed her grip on his arm.

The color returning to his face, Booth moved his eyes over his wife trying to make sure she was okay. "Lester said something about paramedics and I . . ." Swallowing, Booth continued, "I think I panicked. Are you okay, is the baby okay? . . . What the hell happened?"

Startled at the news, Lester entered the room, "Baby? What do you mean is the baby okay?"

Irritated, Brennan stood up and motioned for Lester to enter the room, "Close the door, Lester." Watching the younger man do as she asked, she explained, "I'm pregnant. No one else knows that, Lester. I'd rather not broadcast that information until my second trimester. I hope you will keep our confidence."

Walking over to Brennan's desk, Lester sat on the edge and glared at Brennan, "What the hell, Dr. B, you should have told those paramedics you were pregnant when they checked you over. You know good and well . . ."

His anger rising, Booth interrupted Lester, "Okay, I want to know what the hell is going on. What happened and why were paramedics called in to check you out, Bones?"

Sitting back down, Brennan took Booth's hand and placed it against her chest, "Booth, you need to relax. I came in early because I wanted to start to work on some of my paperwork and forms. I've been out for three months and I had a small hill of documents to take care of."

His impatience growing, Booth cut her off, "Bones, cut to the chase, what happened?"

Shrugging her shoulders, Brennan sighed, "I had worked steadily for two hours when I decided I'd like some more coffee. I stopped by Hodgins' office to see if he'd like to join me at the Diner when a small explosion erupted from his work room. I was knocked down and landed quite hard on my posterior."

His eyes turning almost obsidian, Booth moved his hands up and down Brennan's arms and then thighs, "Were you hurt or not?" Moving her lab coat aside he inspected her torso and hips, "I don't see any blood stains."

Annoyed, Brennan captured Booth's hands, "Stop it Booth. I said I landed on my posterior. I'm sure I'm bruised on my gluteus maximus, but that's all. Hodgins was standing behind a shield so he didn't sustain any damage. All in all, the situation could have been much worse. Since I was standing in the doorway when the explosion occurred, I merely fell and did not receive any other injuries."

Leaning over and kissing her, Booth frowned, "You should have told the paramedics about your condition, Bones. Are you going to go see a doctor?"

Shaking her head, Brennan scowled, "Of course not, at least not today. To be as clear as I can be, I fell on my ass, Booth. I am not hurt except for a bruise I am sure is forming as we speak."

A little shocked at the profanity, Lester whistled, "Okay, I think I'll leave now." Walking over to the door, Lester was stopped by Booth, "Lester, don't tell anyone about Bones' pregnancy. We just want to make sure it's a healthy pregnancy before we say anything, okay?"

Turning back, Lester replied, "Sure, that's okay. My cousin did the same thing when she was pregnant. I won't tell anyone, although I will if Dr. Brennan gets into anymore accidents around here. She should have told the paramedics when they were looking her over."

Assured, Brennan responded, "I do plan to see my obstetrician Lester as soon as I can. I just didn't want to be taken to the hospital which is probably what would have happened if I'd mentioned it to the EMTs."

Reassured, Lester smiled, "Okay then. I need to go talk to Hodgins. Cam's already yelled at him and I think I need to put my two cents in."

A kiss on Brennan's lips, Booth stood up and walked over to the door, "Oh no. I'm going to talk to Dr. Hodgins and it won't be two cents worth either."

Worried, Brennan held up her hands, "Booth, it was just an accident."

Glancing at Brennan as he watched Lester open the office door, Booth informed her, "That experiment was unauthorized. He was told what would happen if that happened again. If I let him get away with this then I'll lose control."

Watching her husband leave the room, Brenna rubbed her hip, "Poor Hodgins."

Oooooooooooooo

Entering Hodgins' work room, Booth strode over to where the entomologist was standing and grabbed his upper arm. Once the scientist was turned around and facing him, Booth grabbed the front of Hodgins' lab coat and moved his face until it was mere inches from the startled man's face, "I told you no unauthorized experiments. Didn't I tell you that?"

His hands grabbing Booth's wrists, Hodgins squeaked, "It was a mistake. I was setting it up but I didn't plan on doing it until you came in and you gave me permission. It went off. I don't know how, but I'm pretty sure that I just proved that the case Detective Simmons is working on is an accident and not a murder. I set it up just like the victim did and it was . . . ."

Furious, Booth pushed Hodgins against the back wall, "If you ever do an unauthorized experiment again, I'll beat the shit out of you. Do you get me? What if you'd hurt or killed Bones, huh. She's bruised but it could have been worse. Do you know what I would have done to you if you'd hurt my wife?"

Swallowing, Hodgins choked out, "Hurt me?"

Releasing him, Booth stepped back, "And if you'd killed her I'd have killed you, just so you know that."

A cold wave of fear coursing down his body, Hodgins cleared his throat, "No more unauthorized experiments. I promise."

Disgusted, Booth snarled, "This is your last damn warning." Stalking out of the room, Booth passed Cam, "The next time I'll kill him."

Her eyes cutting over to where Hodgins was standing, Cam replied, "I'm sure he gets that, Booth."

Oooooooooooooooooooooo

His knuckles barely making a sound as he tapped lightly on Booth's doorway, Hodgins dreaded the next few minutes.

Booth's attention drawn to the door, looked up and found the one person he didn't want to talk to at the moment, "What do you want?"

Stepping into the room, the scientist cleared his throat, "Look Booth, I really wasn't doing the experiment until I got your permission. I just set it up. I was going to show you step by step what I planned to do. I was just standing behind my shield going over my schematic when the damn explosion happened. I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong, but I needed to talk to you. I didn't set off that explosion on purpose. I swear it."

His anger cooler than it was earlier, Booth leaned against his desk, "You should have talked to me before you set it up. . . . Is this about the cold case Detective Simmons has been working on?"

Relieved that Booth was talking to him, Hodgins nodded his head, "Yeah, he has zero suspects and now I know why. I think Karl Reese was building a bomb and it was a very sophisticated one and it got away from him. I had the police department send me all the boxes of evidence from the crime scene and while I was sorting through it I realized I could probably recreate the bomb that was used to blow up Reese. The police had a theory that someone else built and planted it in his basement but I think Reese built it and did something wrong and while he was upstairs in his living room, the bomb below him blew up on its own. I just proved that a little while ago. I just need to figure out what the trigger was and why it went off prematurely."

Rubbing the bridge of his nose, Booth closed his eyes momentarily. Feeling a slight headache coming on, he opened his eyes, "From now on, you will talk to me before you recreate bombs or just build one for whatever reason. You could have killed Bones or anyone else that happened to be unlucky and entered that room. You're damn lucky you were standing behind the shield."

A feeling of remorse hitting him, Hodgins nodded his head, "Yeah and I'm really sorry. It won't happen again."

Staring at Hodgins, Booth finally nodded his head, "Alright but just remember, I wasn't kidding earlier. If you ever do something to cause my wife to get hurt again, I'll beat the shit out of you and I won't care if I get fired, got that?"

Grimly, Hodgins nodded his head, "Yeah, I understand."

"Good, I'd hate to have to hurt you." A small smile tugging the corners of his mouth, Booth spoke softly, "I like you. I kind of think of you as a friend so . . . and I'm pretty sure Angela would murder me if I hurt you, so just keep in mind you'd be ruining a lot of lives if you screw up again, just remember that."

A crooked smile on his lips, Hodgins reminded him, "Plus you'll kill me if one of my experiments go wrong and I kill Dr. Brennan."

His eyes boring in to the scientist standing before him, Booth grimly agreed, "And it would be a slow and painful death."

Gulping, Hodgins smile disappeared.
