One the Ghouls

Christmas with... Well maybe not... (Chapter 24)

(Dani's P.O.V.)

I sat in the car drumming my fingers against the dashboard. The snow was coming down so hard the Coach Rogers was losing control, and could barely see out of the windshield. "Coach, is everything alright?" I asked. Shaggy flipped on the hazards, and avoided my question keeping his hands firmly on the wheel.

Elsa looked at me, and opened her mouth to speak, when Coach pulled the van over to the side of the road.

"What's going on, Coach?" Elsa asked.

"I can't see the road, and the van is acting up. If the snow doesn't let up..." Coach began.

"We won't be going home?" I asked.

"I'm sorry, Dani. It isn't safe for us to continue." Shaggy tried to bring me down gently.

I frowned, and Elsa looked like she was crushed emotionally. "Come on guys. Don't look so down. Even if we are stuck here, we are still together," Scrappy interjected.

Elsa looked like she was about to cry. I phased through the front seat, and sat next to her. A few tears ran from her eyes which she hastily wiped away. "Elsa, it will be okay. I am sure you will be home for Christmas with your Dada," I tried to reassure her.

"I miss my Dada," Elsa muttered.

"I know. I miss my Dad too," I admitted.

Shaggy got out of the car, and he pulled out his phone. Who was he calling? Was he calling for help? How long would we be stuck here?

After he was done on the phone he got back in the van, rubbing his hands together. "Okay, guys we may be stuck here for awhile. I made a call to let my friends know I may be a little late."

I could tell he was lying, and the snow looked like it was only going to get worse. I settled myself down next to Elsa, and tried to stay calm. Elsa wasn't handling this well, and I had to keep myself in check to comfort her. Coach left the van run, and even busted out his emergency snacks to substitute for dinner. Me, and Elsa each had half of a sandwich. Scooby ate some scooby snacks, and Scrappy ate whatever his Uncle would give him. Shaggy had his sandwich, and some of the scooby snacks; before passing around a bag of potato chips.

"Shaggy, what are we going to do?" Elsa asked.

"Elsa," Shaggy paused to rub the back of his head. "I think we are going to have to stay here tonight."

Elsa nodded. "Alright, it is almost Christmas... What are we going to do?"

I smirked, before beginning to sing "jingle bells". We all sang together. Elsa seemed to cheer up some. We began to drift off to sleep. Shaggy found a blanket, and threw it over us.

"Get some sleep girls," Shaggy said. He seemed to be waiting for something in the snowstorm.

Me, and Elsa shared the bench in the back of the van. We lay together under the blanket. Scrappy, and Scooby-doo lay curled together on the floor.

"I'm sorry you aren't with your Dada right now, Elsa," I muttered an apology to my friend.

"It's okay, Dani. I realized that as long as I am with my family that is all that really matters," Elsa responded.

"Your family?" I asked.

"You, Coach, and the Doo's. You guys are all part of my family," Elsa said.

We fell asleep, and slept pretty good until the van started to move in the morning.

"Coach?" Me, and Elsa asked at almost the same time.

"It stopped snowing!" Shaggy exclaimed. "So, I am taking Elsa home, before me, and Dani head back to Grimwood's."

"Coach," Elsa began. "Just take us back to Grimwood's my Dada will be there waiting for me."

Me, and Elsa looked at each other and laughed. "This is not how I wanted to spend Christmas."

"But it was fun," Elsa said.
