Thank you for reviewing my story. I appreciate it.
I don't own Bones.

Jorge Delgado was not a happy man. Furious that the houses that had recently been uncovered hadn't been properly guarded, he'd made sure that would not happen in the future. After his lecture from Dr. Guerra, he realized that he and the rest of his security team were on the verge of being fired. Embarrassed that his reputation was being tainted, he called a quick meeting of his team, made sure that their security coverage was adequate and went in to town to call his partner to have four more security guards sent out to the site.
After a heated argument with his partner, who wanted to send three more guards instead of the four Jorge wanted, he'd ended the call and returned to the dig. Finding Hector Guerra in the dining hall having a cup of coffee, Delgado sat down next to him, "I talked to my partner and he's sending four more guards. I told you before we started that four guards weren't enough to take care of security here. As it is I think we should have five or six more and so does Martin. This dig is much too big for four guards to secure and eight won't be a hell of a lot better. At least with the additional four guards we'll be able to guard the houses as well as the cave and the living quarters of the anthropologists. We're very lucky that Booth wasn't killed."
Resigned, Hector nodded his head, "I know, I know. When I saw that this town was bigger than we first thought I should have had you bring in more security, but . . . well, I didn't and we'll have to live with that. Pat is so worried about his budget, I've had a hard time making him agree that extra security is needed. We're lucky Booth just suffered a concussion. Dr. Brennan is very upset with our lack of proper security. She told me that if we didn't improve our security quickly she and her husband would leave. She informed me that if it was just her she wouldn't be too concerned but she was quite clear that she will not risk her husband's life and I can't blame her. This is really embarrassing."
His cheeks quite warm, Jorge nodded his head, "It is very embarrassing. I talked to Booth and he didn't see who hit him. Maria Sanchez had told him about the buildings and he'd gone in that particular one to look at the paintings on the wall. Maria should have been there but Victoria needed some help setting up some cameras in one of the other houses along with the generator for lighting. Victoria said you wanted her to start documenting the art work in each house before you started searching the floors for burials and Maria decided to help her to get it done faster. They plan on documenting each house starting with the first house on the path. Neither Maria or Victoria saw anyone around the houses before or after Booth was hurt."
"I know one thing, when I catch who ever hurt Booth and dug up that floor . . . well, I may need a lawyer." His anger still hot, Hector finished his coffee, "If we lose Dr. Brennan's expertise it will not be good for the reputation of Mexico. She is one of the leading Anthropologists in the world and a famous author. What she does is news and we don't need that kind of publicity."
Nodding his head, Jorge agreed, "My wife loves Dr. Brennan's books, so I am quite aware that she is famous. Her husband is an ex-Army Ranger and FBI so I was surprised that someone was able to sneak up on him, but he did say he was lying on the floor looking at something sticking up in the pit that had been dug, so I guess he has a good excuse."
Worried, Hector responded, "I need to go over there and check out that pit and see what's there. God knows what was taken from the pit. . . . I am so angry about this entire situation."

Lying on their bed in their tent, Booth felt Brennan run her hand through his hair, "Bones, I'm fine, stop worrying. I've had worse done me, a hell of a lot worse."
Her need to be closer to him, Brennan moved onto the bed so that she was lying next to him, "This was supposed to be fun for you, Booth. You thought it might be fun and . . . I didn't count on you being attacked."
Opening his eyes, Booth turned his head, "Bones, come on, we both know that any dig can be potentially dangerous. I know you've been in some pretty hairy situations on digs, that's why I wanted to be your body guard although obviously I'm not up to it. I never would have let someone sneak up on me in my younger days. I . . ."
A little angry at her husband, Brennan interrupted him, "Booth, don't be ridiculous. You were investigating something that didn't appear to be right and you were lying on the floor. You were hit from behind. You were expecting Maria to be there and she wasn't. She was supposed to be cataloging the paintings but she was helping Victoria and you had no way of knowing that. I don't wish to hear anymore about your younger days. You are as good as you ever were. Probably more so since with age comes wisdom."
A smile creeping onto his lips, Booth leaned over and kissed her, "I think you think too highly of my skills, but thank you. . . . I think Jorge is smart to bring in more security. This place is bigger than four guards can handle. Covering 24 hours, they've just had two guards during the day and two at night trying to watch the buildings, the cave and this little tent city. Two just can't do it. I think the additional guards will help them cover more. If it was me, I'd bring in six or seven more and not four, but Jorge said he didn't think Pat would agree to more. Hector is on board with more security, but Pat wants to hold down costs so it was a fight to make him see that they needed more security."
Snuggling closer to her husband, Brennan sighed, "Pat is a scientist and he wants to use as much of the dig money as possible on the investigation of these ruins and not extraneous things like guards. I've been on digs with him in the past and he usually manages to get soldiers assigned to digs so that security doesn't have to be budgeted in. Hector said that he refuses to ask the government for soldiers to guard this dig because it was completely unnecessary. He thought a private security firm could handle their needs, so Pat had to go along with it."
Closing his eyes again, Booth replied, "Well, I'm going to be on alert from now on and so are you. We don't know who hit me, so we can't trust anyone. Someone is doing a little grave robbing around here and until we find out who it is we are going to be very careful around everyone here. You've got little Tiger to look after, so that means you can't get hurt. I mean it Bones, don't trust anyone."
"Tiger?" Amused, Brennan moved her hand and until she found Booth's hand and clasped it in hers, "It's too early to tell what the sex of our baby is yet. We won't know for a few months."
Sleepy, Booth murmured, "Well, I'm not calling him or her an it. We can call the baby peanut if you want to."
Uncertain if she was worrying too much about her partner's health, Brennan asked, "Would you like to go home?"
Suddenly awake, Booth turned to look at Brennan once more, "No, why? Do you want to go home?
Shaking her head, Brennan replied, "No, I just wanted to make sure that you wanted to be here."
Trying to relax, Booth turned his head and closed his eyes,"Bones, just relax, okay? Where you are is where I am. If you want to stay then we're staying. Now, I'm bushed, it's been a long day and my head is still hurting. Just let me sleep okay?"
As was her habit since his car accident, Brennan listened to Booth's breathing to make sure he wasn't in distress. Thankful that he appeared to be handling his latest injury so well, she smiled, "I love you Booth."
Unable to remain awake, Booth muttered as he fell into a much needed sleep, "Love. . . ."
Rolling onto her side, Brennan placed her arm around his chest and joined him in sleep.
