Thank you for reviewing my story. It's really the only way I can tell if you're really interested in it.
I don't own Bones.
Ooooooooooooooooooo
Sitting down next to Booth in the mess tent, Maria Sanchez placed her bowl of cereal down on the table and turned towards Booth, "I am so sorry, Mr. Booth. I was supposed to be working in the building you were attacked in, but Victoria needed my help, so I've actually been working with her for the last two days. If I had been there. . . "
Interrupting the young intern, Booth held up his hand, "If you had been there you may have been hurt or killed. I'm fine, so don't worry about it. I have a pretty thick skull, so no damage done. I'm just glad Jorge has more security coming in so they can keep an eye on the buildings. It wasn't really safe for you to be there by yourself. I think it's a good idea that you're working with Victoria. You can keep an eye on each other."
Grateful that Booth wasn't angry with her Maria smiled, "Yes, Dr. Guerra thinks so too. He was very upset that you were attacked and hurt. Up until now we've had a little minor pilfering going on, but nothing as serious as someone being attacked."
Her coffee too hot to drink, Brennan placed it down next to her bowl of cereal and commented, "Someone may be watching this dig and once they realized you were busy elsewhere decided to take advantage of your absence and dig up the floor in the house that Booth visited. They probably didn't count on someone visiting the house while they were there."
"Dr. Guerra plans on starting to work on the buildings as soon as he can." Picking up her spoon, Maria scooped up some cereal from her bowl, "His plan now is to record each building thoroughly and then start excavating the floors in the houses once we've documented everything. The people that used to live here were part of a culture that were known to bury their dead in the floors of their houses. Dr. Guerra and Dr. Rayburn are curious to see if that's true here since we found the bodies in the cave."
Sipping his coffee, Booth considered what the intern had said, "Well, we know something was buried in the floor of that house I was in. Maybe not a body, but I did see some broken pottery, so something was there."
Sad at the thought of the loss of whatever had been in the floor, Maria sighed, "Dr. Guerra said he's going to work in that building first. He's going to try to start this afternoon. It's too late to document the floor, but I did document the paintings on the wall. He hopes the thief didn't get everything that was in the floor."
Her coffee cooler, Brennan sipped some of the beverage and commented, "I'm going to continue to work with the skeletons in the tent, Booth. Would you like to observe what I do or would you like to observe Dr. Guerra in the buildings?"
Thinking about it, Booth finally replied, "I'll go with you to the tent, Bones. Dr. Guerra and Jorge can take care of the buildings but my first responsibility is your safety. Until we find out who hit me I'll be wherever you are."
Spooning up some of her cereal, Brennan nodded her head, "Alright but I should be perfectly safe here, Booth. Jorge has a man here in the tent area at all times. He also has a man watching the caves where Pat and the three interns are working. Jorge said that the additional security will be here this afternoon and they'll start to watch the buildings. Dr. Guerra has hired two local men to watch them until the additional security arrives. I'm perfectly safe here if you want to be with Dr. Guerra."
A shake of his head and a quick kiss his answer, Booth started to eat his breakfast, "Haven't these people ever heard of Captain Crunch or Wheaties? This cereal is too much like those twigs and berries you eat at home."
Amused, Brennan swallowed her bite of cereal, "The next dig we go on make sure you pack your favorite cereal along with some books."
Scowling at his bowl of cereal, Booth assured her, "Oh believe me I will."

Brennan, working inside the tent that held the skeletons removed from the cave, held up a femur and showed it to Booth who was sitting on a chair next to the tent entrance. "I believe this belonged to a male, probably in his mid-thirties. He appeared to be fairly healthy. I haven't determined cause of death yet. If he died of a disease it probably happened quickly."
Enjoying the breeze pouring in from the opened tent flap, Booth replied, "That's interesting, Bones." Slapping at a mosquito that was trying to drill into his forearm, Booth managed to squash the blood sucking insect. Flipping the lifeless body from his arm, he shook his head, "I'm going to ask for some mosquito netting and put it across the entrance to this tent. The fucking mosquitoes around here think I'm a damn snack."
Since Booth usually used mild curse words around her, Brennan turned to stare at her husband, "Are you alright? You seem to be a little agitated."
Rubbing his forehead, Booth sighed, "I have a little headache but yeah, I'm okay. I just remembered that I'm not a huge fan of jungles. I have more experience in deserts. The flora and fauna are little less irritating in a desert."
Her concern growing, Brennan placed the femur back on the table, "How bad is the headache? Are you experiencing any visual disturbances like flashing lights or wavy lines?"
Shaking his head slowly, Booth stood up, "Nah, it's just a headache Bones, not a migraine. I'm fine. Don't worry about it. I'm going to go back to our tent and get some Advil and then I'll see if that intern Miguel can scrounge up some netting for this tent flap. I'll be right back."
Watching her partner leave the tent, Brennan considered following him and telling him that they were going home, but decided that if he really wanted to go home, he'd have told her by now. Returning her gaze back to the bones, she was soon lost in her work.

After taking three Advil, Booth walked over to the tent where he knew Miguel was working and scratched the fabric on the tent. Waiting, he smiled when the young man stepped out of the tent. "Hey, I hate to bother you, but do you have some mosquito netting I can have. I want to tack it over the entrance to the tent where Dr. Brennan is working."
"Yes, there is a roll in the supply tent." Moving past Booth, Miguel walked next door and stepped inside the tent. Calling out to Booth, the intern asked, "How much do you want?"
Glancing at the tent entrance, Booth replied, "I don't know, maybe six and half feet. I need enough to cover the entire entrance to the tent."
After he measured the piece, Miguel cut off a piece of the netting and carried out to Booth, "Here you are. Would you like me to help you put it up? It will be faster if both of us take care of it."
Appreciating the intern's kindness, Booth smiled, "Hey, thanks."
Carrying the netting over to the tent, Miguel handed it to Booth and then fished some clamps out of his pants pockets, "Okay, we'll line it up and you can hold it in place while I clamp the netting to the tent."
Once the netting was in place, Booth clapped the young man on the shoulder, "Thanks man, I know it won't keep all of the bugs out, but it will at least keep some of the worst ones on the outside."
Pointing over his shoulder, Miguel smiled, "If you need me you know where I am."
Nodding his head, Booth glanced around and frowned, "Have you seen Marco? I thought he was supposed to hang around the tents to make sure nothing disappears and to protect the bones that Bones is working on."
Shrugging his shoulders, Miguel replied, "I haven't seen him lately. Maybe he went to the bathroom."
"Maybe." Flipping the netting aside, Booth entered the tent and then made sure the netting fell back into place. Sitting down next to the entrance, Booth leaned back on his chair and informed Brennan, "I didn't see Marco when I was moving between the tents. I hope he isn't goofing off somewhere."
Unconcerned, Brennan continued her examination of a tibia, "He probably went over to the buildings to make sure that Dr. Guerra is alright. I'm sure he'll be back soon."
Rubbing his jaw, Booth replied, "I'll be happy when Jorge's extra security shows up. It's spread too thin and I don't like it."
