Thank you for reviewing my story. I really appreciate it.

I don't own Bones.

Ooooooooooooooo

The next day, Brennan drove in early to work to see if she could be of any help with the Taffet case. Arriving in her office, she logged onto her computer and found over a thousand emails listed. Disgusted with the amount, Brennan started to go through them one at a time, deleting anything that seemed to be nonsense or past time where she could be of use.

As she was wading through her emails, Angela walked into the room, "Sweetie, welcome back."

Looking up from her monitor, Brennan smiled, "Thank you. From the amount of mail sitting on my desk and coffee table and the amount of emails I had waiting for me, I'm beginning to think it would have been better for me to stay at home."

Amused, Angela walked around the desk and hugged Brennan. Kissing her on the cheek she stood back and advised her, "Just delete them all. That's what I do. If they're important then I'll get another email asking me about it."

Disturbed by that advice, Brennan stared at her friend, "So when I've asked you in the past about why you haven't answered my mail, what you did was delete them?"

Blushing, Angela smiled, "Oops. . . . well you know Honey, I don't have the patience to go through hundreds of emails. To protect my sanity I just start over when I come back from vacation."

A little annoyed with her friend, Brennan turned back to check more email, "Well, I can't do that. I have to check each one."

Shrugging her shoulders, Angela sat down on the chair across from Brennan's desk, "So what did Booth say when you told him that Taffet had been murdered?"

Pausing, Brennan turned her attention back to her friend, "He was upset. He wanted to witness her execution. He's also relieved that he was out of the country so he's not a suspect in her murder."

Crossing her arms, Angela leaned back on her chair, "I'm pretty sure the FBI would have hauled Booth in if he'd been here. . . . It was so weird. Sweets and Agent Harris were with her in front of the courthouse and they were escorting her from the van they brought her in to the steps when her head just exploded. It was on the news for days. No one heard the shot, so they it know it was done by a sniper. Lester said that shot would have had to be done by someone as talented as Booth."

"Booth would never murder someone, no matter how much he hated them." Confident in her belief, Brennan explained, "Booth believes in justice. He may have had the best reason to murder her, but he would never do such a thing. That isn't who he is. When he's killed someone in the past it was because he'd been ordered to do it by someone higher up in the chain of command than he was or it was to save a life."

Glancing at the doorway, Angela asked, "So where is Booth?"

Her attention back on to her monitor, Brennan replied, "He wanted to drop off some dry cleaning before he came to work. He should be here shortly."

Oooooooooooooooo

Entering his office, Booth hung his jacket up on his coat tree and walked behind his desk. Powering up his PC he noticed Lester enter his office, "So, you still have a job I see."

Annoyed, Lester sat down across from Booth and replied, "Ha ha, that's just so funny. I see being away didn't improve your sense of humor."

Amused at Lester's reaction, Booth opened his mail and found over eight hundred emails. "Shit, just what I need." Sighing, he looked at the subject lines and started to delete any mail that he thought was junk mail or mail that he wasn't interested in."

Curious, Lester crossed his legs and leaned back against his chair, "So how'd it go? Did Dr. Brennan discover anything cool?"

Deleting emails as quickly as possible, Booth replied, "Yeah, she found out that seven of the bodies buried at the site were murder victims. She's not happy that we we're never going to find out who did it and why, but what could she do? Those people were murdered over 1500 years ago."

Surprised at the news, Lester shook his head, "What are you two . . . murder magnets? You two can't even go to a dig in a foreign country without finding someone murdered. Sheesh."

Shrugging his shoulders, Booth responded, "What can I say? We're just lucky I guess."

Grimly, Lester cleared his throat, "So did you hear about Taffet?"

Looking up from his monitor, Booth nodded his head, "Yeah, Angela told Bones when we got back and Bones told me. Have they caught who did it yet?"

A little glum, Lester shook his head, "No, I'm kind of out of the loop now that I work here, but the last time I talked to Harris he told me that they're looking at snipers. They had you on the list for the sake of form, but since you were out of the country, no one took it seriously. I think Harris has it pinned down to two snipers that could have made that shot. Both of them are out of pocket and the FBI has people looking for them."

Curious, Booth asked, "Any names?"

"Yeah, Jacob Brodsky and William Preston." Rubbing his jaw, Lester continued, "Brodsky was in Dallas last year, but he got into some kind of trouble and then fell off the radar and I'm not sure about Preston."

Surprised, Booth shook his head, "No way it was Brodsky. He would never do something like that. He's as straight an arrow as they come."

Unconcerned, Lester shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know him, so I'll take you word for it. I just know that Harris is looking for him and William Preston."

"I could believe Preston did it." Drumming his fingers on his desk, Booth shook his head, "I never liked Preston he's an asshole, but Brodsky . . . no way."

Taking his phone out of his jacket pocket, Lester called up his notes file and glanced at Booth, "Let me give you a rundown of the things that happened while you were gone. Brodsky and Preston is the FBI's problem, not yours."

Sitting back against his chair, Booth nodded his head, "Okay, go ahead. As long as you didn't find any more bodies buried in the Rose Garden it should all be minor shit."

Ooooooooooooooo

Is this interesting?

A/N: This is a reminder that even though Booth consults for Metro Police he doesn't investigate crimes anymore. Brennan also works as a consultant for Metro, the CIA and the Army. She doesn't work for the FBI and she doesn't investigate crimes either. She determines cause of death and identifies bodies when needed.
