Thank you for reviewing my story. I really appreciate it.

I don't own Bones.

Oooooooooooooooooooo

Marching through the entrance to the Lab, Harris noted that Booth wasn't in his office. Passing the room, he soon arrived in front of Cam's office. Spying Booth in the room, he entered and held up a paper, "Okay, I hate to do this, but I have a warrant for Angela's computers as well as your Booth."

Grimly, Cam stood up and extended her hand for the warrant, "May I ask what you hope to find?"

His gaze on Booth's face, Harris answered with little emotion, "Someone killed Brodsky and I need to find out who it was. It's nothing personal. I'm just doing my job."

Concerned for Angela, Booth asked him, "Why Angela? I understand why you suspect me, but why Angela?"

Glancing over his shoulder as he noted several agents pass the office, Harris snorted, "Yeah right. You know exactly why I suspect Angela. She's a computer genius and she can track down anyone she wants to. If you killed Brodsky you had to have had help. Temperance is a genius but as far as I know, she doesn't give a rat's ass how computers work as long as they do."

Curious, Booth stood, "Why am I still a suspect? I showed you that I don't have any bruises on me and Bones can back up my time away from here."

Calmly, Harris replied, "You're the only one that makes sense. Just because you don't have any bruises doesn't really mean anything. It's cold, you'd have been wearing a lot of layers out in the woods. As for Temperance backing you . . . well, she is your wife. I'd be derelict in my duties if I didn't suspect you."

Sitting back down, Booth crossed his arms, "Bones is not a liar Harris and you damn well know that."

Not happy with the situation, Harris shook his head, "I have a job to do, Booth. Caroline and I brainstormed this whole mess and we can't come up with anyone else that had a motive to kill Brodsky and could actually accomplish it. You were a damn Ranger. You keep fit . . . yeah yeah you have a breathing problem, but I know you Booth. That wouldn't stop you from doing what you thought had to be done."

His eyes mere slits, Booth informed him, "I didn't kill Brodsky or anyone else."

Shrugging his shoulders, Harris sighed, "And I want to believe you. I really do, but I have to make sure. If you didn't do it then I don't have any other suspects."

"That's not my problem is it?" Disgusted, Booth stood up again, "Make sure you return our computers as soon as possible. I'm not a fan of them, but I sure need them to do my job."

Turning, Harris walked to the open doorway, "I need you to come in to the Hoover this afternoon."

Coldly, Booth nodded his head, "Alright. Why not? It's not like I have anything better to do with my time."

After Harris had left, Cam turned to look at her friend, "Booth . . ."

Holding up his hand, Booth assured her, "I did not kill Brodsky, Cam. I promised Bones that I wouldn't and I kept my word."

Not sure she believed him, Cam nodded her head, "Alright."

Ooooooooooooooooooo

Not too concerned with where he was and why, Booth sat in the interrogation room and stared at his friend.

Harris, trying to remain cool under the situation, leaned back against his chair and remained silent while he waited for Caroline to join them. A short time later the prosecutor arrived and settled on the chair beside him.

Angry that she had to be there, Caroline leaned on the table and asked her former favorite FBI agent, "Did you kill Jacob Brodsky?"

Taking in her haggard appearance, Booth assured her, "No, I did not."

"You had the best motive and the skills to do it." Afraid he'd actually committed the murder, Caroline shook her head, "You're actually the only one that had a real motive to kill him and could have accomplished it. He threatened to kill you and Dr. Brennan, your pregnant wife, I might add. I know you, Booth. You'd never let anyone get away with that. You're a former Ranger and a sniper. You keep in shape and I don't care what your doctor says, breathing problem or not, you could have done this."

Grimly, Booth leaned back against his chair, "I did not kill Jacob Brodsky."

Her frustration growing, Caroline pleaded with him, "Look sooner or later we're going to prove that you did this. Plead to the murder charge now and I'll make sure the death penalty is taken off the table. I'll make sure you're kept out of the prison population too. I might even be able to make sure you just serve a few years."

A smile on his lips, Booth shook his head, "I did not kill Jacob Brodsky. If you had some kind of proof that I'd done it you'd have told me by now. You're fishing and I'm very disappointed in you two. If I was working the case, no way would I have someone like me in here withour proof to back it up. Now, since you don't have anything, I'm going to get up from this chair and leave." Standing, Booth leaned against the table, "I did not kill Jacob Brodsky. Cam told me that the man died from a fall. Why you're insisting on pursuing a murder investigation is beyond me. As far as I know, Jacob walked out of the woods and jumped from the water fall to his death. There was no murder. If anything, it looks like suicide." Standing straight, Booth shrugged on his jacket, "I did not kill Jacob Brodsky . . . now I'm leaving."

Watching Booth leave the room, Caroline shook her head and turned towards Harris, "I told my boss that this was a waste of my time. Booth isn't stupid. He's not about to admit to anything and he's right we have no proof that Jacob Brodsky was murdered."

Nonchalantly, Harris stood up and leaned towards her, "Say the word and I'll drop the case. We can let the two autopsies stand. Brodsky got into a fight with someone a short time before he fell to his death. There doesn't appear to be a connection and we have no proof that there is. My people have looked around the top of the waterfall, but there's been a lot of rain and snow up there and if there was any proof it isn't there now."

Rubbing her forehead, Caroline finally nodded her head, "Unless the squints find anything on Booth's or Angela Montenegro's computers to implicate them, I think we'll have to accept the conclusions of two very good coroners and agree that Brodsky died by misadventure."

Thankful that Caroline saw the hopelessness of the case, Harris smiled, "Thanks Caroline."

Sniffing, Caroline stood, "Don't thank me Morris. I'm not about to step foot into court without evidence. Booth is a decorated war hero and a decorated FBI agent. I'd have a snowballs chance in hell getting a conviction with what we have which is nothing."

Amused, Harris moved over to the open doorway, "Yeah you got that right, thank God."

Oooooooooooooooooo

Still interesting?
