Fifty-Seven

"What about Phoebe?"

"No."

"Or Danielle?"

"No."

"Juliette?"

"Too much like Judith."

"Rachel?"

"I had a dog called Rachel, once. She got hit by a car and died."

Rick sighed. "I've given you like a hundred girls names and you don't like any of them." He leant in and kissed my cheek softly. "How about Summer?"

I shook my head. "We're not having a girl," I assured him. "It's going to be a boy. Trust me on this." I rolled over in the grass and snuggled into the crook of his arm.

Rick chuckled. "How can you be so sure?"

I shrugged and flicked a piece of cat grass away from my face. "I'm just generally an awesome kind of person." Over the past month things had been slow paced and pretty good for us. There were over sixty people altogether now and we had everything down to a fine art now. We hadn't lost a single soul in the camp and last night, Matthew and I declared that we'd had thirty days without incident and that it was a camp record. Right now Rick and I were lying in the grass in the middle of the field having the age old discussion regarding baby names. It would have almost seemed like a regular discussion if not for the walkers that were massing at the fences only a few feet away.

"Paul?"

"No."

"Justin?"

"No."

"Sean?"

"Too much like Shane."

"Michael?"

"No." I glanced up at the sky. "I don't really want a living reminder of my brother walking around everyday. I like the name Hayden. It works for boys and girls."

"Hayden?" Rick asked me.

"You never listed Hayden," I smirked. "Hayden Grimes-HG for short."

"HG? Not even born yet and your mother is already putting pressure on you to be like here," he told me stomach. Rick propped himself up on his elbows and picked a daisy from the courtyard to tuck into my growing hair. "You were up late reading comic books with Carl last night," he pointed out.

I shrugged. "Hey, Batman is awesome. We were reading issue number five that Michonne found last time she went out on a hunt. My brother Theo had that issue when he was a kid." I sighed. "Plus…it's good for me and Carl to spend some time together since I told you both about the baby…he think's something bad is gonna happen to me and the baby like what happened with…you know…Lori."

Rick sighed. I'd told him about Carl's fears but told him not to confront him whilst we sorted some stuff out. Carl would tell him in good time. He frowned. "Listen…I want you to not eat any of the meat if you can," he urged me. "The pigs all listless and not responsive to anything. I think something's wrong with them."

"No problem," I answered, straddling his waist. "Pork has been a turn off for my tastebuds lately."

"What are you doing?" Rick laughed.

I smirked. "Having a little fun…who said we couldn't?"

"There are walkers right there," Rick pointed out.

"We're in the grass, no one will see us," I objected, nibbling on his earlobe. "Ever had sex outside, Mr Grimes?"

Rick kissed me. "No, Mrs Grimes."

"Did I tell you I love the sound of that?" I smirked when I broke the kiss. "Mrs Grimes. So…sex?" I asked boldly.

Rick would have replied if not for the sound of a familiar voice. We stuck our heads up over the growing grass to see Michonne coming back. She'd spend weeks out of the prison on the horse we'd rescued gathering what she could and looking for the Governor. "She's back!" I grinned. I jumped up and pulled Rick to his feet so that we could open the gates. "Hey you," I grinned, taking the reins of the horse whilst Rick closed the gate.

"PJ," she nodded. "Got you a present." Michonne pulled a bundle of clothing out of her pack and threw it to me. "Baby clothes. Got some comics for Carl and I found this," she grinned, handing Rick a portable razor. "Your face is losing the war," she laughed.

"I'll take them up to the cells," I smiled, taking the stuff off Rick. I started the track back up to the cell block, on the way up, I stopped by to see Ebony spent most of her time sleeping. She was just over eight months pregnant and everything was draining and making her tired. "RISE AND SHINE SAMMY!" I shouted, hitting the butt of my gun against the bars.

Ebony screamed and jumped up a little. "Really?" she gasped.

"Wish I had some Asia cause I think it's Tuesday," I grinned. "Little Heat of the Moment?"

"Oh burn in hell," Ebony groaned, sitting up. "How are you? I haven't seen much of you lately."

"I've been busy," I shrugged. "Walkers are pushing against the fence…more and more are coming every day. We've got patrols working on the fences but I don't know how long it will last." I propped the pillows up behind Ebony so she could sit without her back hurting. "How's mum and the kidlet?"

"Tired," Ebony answered. She sighed. "And immobile. Add to the fact that Jade now thinks I'm boring, I'm a little upset."

"Why does Jade think you're boring?" I inquired. I sat down on the floor beside her bed. "She's seven-she should still think you're a god to her."

Ebony sighed. "I'm boring…she wants to play with Lizzie and Myka and the other kids. Because I can't play with her. She actually told me that she hated me and I was boring. Daryl tried to stop her but she kicked him in the shin."

I snorted. "Well Jade's head strong."

"Could you talk to her?" Ebony asked me.

"Eb's I'd love to but I'm having my own problems," I sighed. "Did I tell you that Carl thinks I'm gonna die?" I inquired.

"Oh gosh," Ebony whispered. "How did you find that out?"

"He told me," I answered. "I'm trying to get him to warm back up to me. He thinks because Lori died giving birth to Judith that I will giving birth to HG."

"HG?" Ebony frowned. "Jesus, you have something for acronyms. HG, PJ-really?"

"Hayden Grimes," I answered. "HG-you can have it as a boy's name or a girl's name." I patted her on the shoulder. "I'll speak to Jade if she'll listen to me but if she's defying you than she'll probably defy me as well. I'm sorry, Eb's."

Ebony sighed. "That's ok. Thank you for saying you'll help me…you're two months aren't you?"

"Two-three," I answered. "Jason wasn't to talk to see me in a week to check me out." I leant back, "I'm going stir crazy…I need to get out…I'm thinking of going on this run with Daryl and Tyrese."

"But-" she objected.

"I'll be fine," I answered with a smile. "I might go find the boys and gear up. Can't stay here." I got to my feet and kissed her on the head before I headed back to our cell. A run would do good, I hadn't been on one since the incident with the cannibals and this baby needed to stretch her legs.
