A/N: Okay I know this is insane but somebody favorited one of these stories and I got an alert about it and I started rereading this one and it's been so long since I wrote I didn't even remember writing it so by the end I was mad that I hadn't written more, anyway long story short I wrote another chapter 5 years later. I gotta be honest, I forgot where some of this story was going, there may be some continuity errors but, hopefully it's not terrible.
Caroline's hug was more like the grip of a drowning victim pulling their rescuer down with them. Bonnie didn't blame her, she couldn't imagine being stuck with Klaus for as long as she had been, it wasn't like she was getting lot's of visitors, the only person she could talk to was him most of the time. Based on how Klaus spoke to her the last time she was here Bonnie doubted he was much for company anyway.
"I'm sorry." Bonnie began as they pulled back from their hug, with a look of what Caroline recognized as pity in her eyes that made Caroline's stomach turn.
Caroline smiled, choosing feigned contentedness to hopefully cause that look to leave Bonnie's expression. "What do you have to be sorry for, you're the one willingly walking into the Lion's den to check on me." a genuine grin stretched across her face, bringing a very similar one onto Bonnie's face, even if it still had a glint of sadness in it Caroline would take that over nothing.
She pulled Bonnie back into another hug for a long moment, before pulling away and making her way to the couch that sat on the side of the room farthest from the door right in front of a huge picture window. Patting the seat next to her she smiled, and then she started to realize there was probably a very specific reason Bonnie was here. "Do you...have time to talk, or…" She trailed off, unsure of how to ask, 'did you just come here because you need me to distract Klaus?' in a not rude way.
Quickly finding a seat right next to Caroline she grabbed her hand and squeezed it. "I'm here to see you, and to talk, for as long as...well as long as I can." Bonnie wasn't sure how to say 'as long as your prison warden will let me visit?' in a way that wouldn't remind Caroline that she was basically in prison. There was one question she had to ask though, even if the answer might not be what she wants to hear. "Are you- how are you doing?"
Caroline smiled and squeezed Bonnie's hand back, "I'm okay." She told her as convincingly as she could, it wasn't completely untrue, she was alive right? That's gotta count for something.

Klaus knew he should give Caroline and her friend some privacy, but he couldn't help it if he didn't much trust the witch, or any of Caroline's friends for that matter. So he listened in. He heard Bonnie catching her up on the things she had missed while she'd been away, most of it monotonous highschool drama. He heard Caroline say that she was okay, which stung because he didn't want her to be okay. He wanted her to be happy, her giving the same response as one would when you ask someone how they are at a funeral is not what he wanted.
He finally stopped listening when Caroline asked about Tyler, he understood why, but he couldn't help a part of him feeling betrayed. Deciding to busy his mind with other things he found the painting he'd been working on not too long ago. It had a lot of blues and greens, not too bright, but not too dark either. It wasn't anything specific at the moment, more like just a whirl of brush strokes. Picking up his paintbrush he decided to continue it.

Caroline held her breath at the question, half expecting Klaus to appear and throw Bonnie out of the house, but after a long moment with no doors breaking down she let out a breath of relief, he must not have been listening. That or he was waiting for her response. "I can't leave again, there's no plan that can guarantee that he won't find me eventually. Which means best case scenario decades of looking over my shoulder before he inevitably finds me and…I believe he mentioned something about a dungeon?"
Bonnie made a disgruntled face, "Well I'm not just gonna let you be trapped alone with Klaus forever Caroline. We'll figure something out, okay?"
Caroline gave Bonnie a sad smile, "Don't worry about me okay, I will get this figured out, or something. Just don't worry okay?"
Bonnie nodded, although there wasn't really any chance of her not worrying about her. She decided, since they only had as much time as Klaus would give them and who knows if he'd let her back into visit, that they shouldn't waste time talking about escape plans that weren't going to work.
"Can we talk about the again part that came after 'I can't leave?'" She asked suddenly realizing she had no idea she'd left in the first place, and mostly wondering where she had gone if not to any of her friends, unless someone had been keeping a secret.
"I snuck out the window while he was talking to Damon-" Caroline began before being cut off.
"Damon was here?" Bonnie asked, surprised that of all of her friends Damon had been the only one to come try and get her out.
With a roll of her eyes she continued, "Yeah, he made a valiant effort, then Klaus threatened to kill him and he left immediately. Anyway it gave me time to get out, and you'll never guess where I ended up." She knew she probably shouldn't be talking proudly about her escape attempt with Klaus right downstairs, but she couldn't help wanting to tell Bonnie about every detail. It was the only thing that happened since she's been with Klaus that she was willing to share honestly.
-;-
Bonnie was eventually forced out of the house, despite an objection on her part. Klaus gave them a several hours which he felt was generous enough. Bonnie did intend to visit again however. Either with a plan to get her out of there or not she wasn't going to leave her friend with no outside company at all. It was just like visiting someone in prison, except probably more dangerous.
Caroline was waving to Bonnie until the moment the door closed in front of her. Then her smile disappeared as her eyes found their way to Klaus' face. "So," he began, taking a few steps closer to her. "Making more escape plans are we?"
She could have sworn her heart stopped for a moment as she went through everything her and Bonnie had talked about, every detail, picking out each individual sentence that could have upset him. "So you were listening in?" Caroline huffed, "I never said anything about making escape plans. All I did was make sure she didn't come back here with a plan to kill you. You're welcome."
With that she turned around and walked back to her room, only pausing for a moment when she glanced his most recent painting, she recognized something about it, sure she'd seen it weeks ago, before all of this. She didn't remember it looking so angry before though, maybe it was all about perspective.
Continuing her trek to the room that Klaus had designated as hers, she was relieved when he didn't follow.
A/N: Okay so that was chapter 11, and you're not gonna believe this but I'm working on a chapter 12 too, that I swear to god I will put on here. Even if no one reads it but me.
