A/N: Oh god Chapter 3 was so blech after I started really reading through it. So I've decided to COMPLETELY revamp it. The opening and the ending will remain the same, but everything in between will be altered. Because ugh, it was just so ugh.

Chapter 3

That night Jet was lying in her bed still awake, on the floor beside her Viki was fast asleep snoring softly. She glanced sideways at her sleeping friend and gave a little sigh. She kicked off her comforter and slid out of bed.

Her bedroom floor was now clear of papers, thanks to her and Viki's hard work from earlier. So, she could walk across the carpeted floor without fear of stepping on a piece of paper and possibly causing Viki to awaken from the sound.

She went over to her dresser and opened one of the drawers as quietly as she could. She reached inside and pulled out a little black box that had purple stripes going along it. She carried it over to her bed and sat down on her bed. She took off the lid of the box, and pulled out a piece of white paper that had small red roses outlining the edges. She held it up to the dim moonlight that came in through her windows and could faintly make out the carefully written words that she knew by heart.

Jessie, I know you've been wanting these bakugan for a while now. So here you go hope you like them! Also, maybe you could teach me how to play as well! Hahaha!

Happy Birthday Sweetheart. Love, Dad.

Jet felt a tear slide down her cheek as she picked up the four darkus bakugan that were nestled in the lavender tissue paper in the little box.

"Hydranoid, Centipoid, Mantris, and Siege." Jet clutched them and the note close to her chest, tears falling freely from her eyes. "Oh, dad." She whispered.

Holding back a sob, Jet placed the four bakugan back in their box. She placed the note on top before she closed up the box and slid it under the bed. Then she grabbed the comforter and pulled it over herself, before she laid back down and cried herself to sleep.

Music blared out from the little clock radio that was perched atop Jet's bedside table. With a grumble Jet hit the snooze button and sat up in her bed. She rubbed her eyes and blinked a couple of times to clear her vision. She glanced down and to the right, to the spot beside her bed and her face broke out into a huge grin at the sight of Viki who lay sprawled on the mattress they'd dragged from Jet's older sister, Meredith's room for Viki to sleep on.

Jet reached for her pillow that was sitting beside her. She picked it up and glanced down at Viki who was still sound asleep, completely unaware of what was happening in reality. Jet, hurled her pillow with surprising force at Viki's head. It hit with a satisfactory thump.

Viki jolted awake, her arms flailing about making Jet burst out laughing clutching her sides. Then her arms stilled and she slowly sat up, Jet's laughter dying away as the pillow tumbled into Viki's lap. She turned her head slowly to fix Jet with a murderous glare. Jet merely smiled innocently and held up her hands in a sheepish gesture.

Viki glanced at the pillow that now lay beside her then looked back at Jet, an evil smirk appearing on her face.

"So that's the way you want to play huh?" In a flash Viki grabbed the pillow and hurled it at Jet. It hit Jet, in the stomach the force of the throw causing to Jet to fall backwards and tumble out of bed. Viki clutched her stomach and burst out laughing at the sight of her friend on the ground entangled in her comforter.

"OH its on!" Jet said as she grabbed the pillow that had landed with her when she'd fallen and chucked it back at Viki who laughed and ducked under the pillow. The Canadian continued to laugh as she snatched up some of Jet's stuffed animals that had tumbled off the bed and began throwing them at Jet.

"AHH! No! Hey leave the animals out of it!" Jet cried as she threw her arms in front of her face to shield it from the onslaught as she struggled to free herself from the grasp of her comforter. "YES!" She cried when she slid onto the floor completely free from her comforter. "You're in trouble now Viki!" She said as she snatched up more stuffed animals and hurled them back at Viki.

Their pillow war continued on for a good few minutes, both girls laughing loudly. They didn't even pause until Viki heard a faint musical sound.

"What's that." Viki said pausing turning her head towards Jet's bedroom door. Jet shrugged and hurled her pillow at Viki it colliding with Viki's stomach with a whump. "Hey wait stop!" Viki said raising a hand towards Jet.

Jet stopped and tilted her head to the side. "What's up?" Then she heard the sound as well and her eyes widened. "That's the doorbell…Oh! That must be Aidan!" She said vaulting over her bed and hurrying out of the room.

"Aidan?!" Viki said excitedly hurrying after her friend.

"Yeah!" Jet said grinning as she hurried down the stairs keeping a grip on the railing to keep herself from slipping, her feet thumping loudly against the steps. "He said he was going to come over sometime the morning after you arrived!"

"Ah." Viki said pausing at the landing peering over at the front door. She could faintly see a tall figure peering into the house through the unfrosted glass portion of the window in the door.

The figure stepped back when Jet reached the door and hastily unlocked it and pulled it open, "Hey Aidan!" She chirped.

Viki moved to stand beside her friend eyes widening at the sight.

Aidan was a lot taller than he'd appeared in the picture. Then again Jet had said the picture was from a couple of years ago, so the boy could've grown a good bit since that time. He was a good few inches taller than her and Jet. Like Jet he also had blue eyes except his were a grayer looking blue than Jet's. He wore golden rimmed glasses, a black Northface to keep out the cold air along with a yellow winter hat on his head that hid the majority of his messy blond hair.

He smiled at them. "Hello Jet, and its nice to see that you made it Viki." He said his breath coming out in small clouds of condensation. "How do you like Chicago?" He asked shoving his hands in his pockets.

"It's a bit chilly," Viki said. "But not as bad as it can get back home, so its nice." She said then she grinned broadly. "In fact it could've been freezing and I've been fine since I finally get to hang out with you guys!"

Aidan chuckled. "Glad to hear that. Oh Jet, I assume that since you didn't hightail it off to School today that you heard?"

Jet blinked. "Er no, I sort of planned on skipping today." She confessed sheepishly.

Aidan sighed rolling his eyes. "Skipping school Jet? You naughty girl." He shook his head and tsked. "Well good for you that School's been cancelled, for the whole week."

Jet's eyes practically bugged out. "THE WHOLE WEEK?! Why?"

Aidan frowned and folded his arms across his chest. "Something with the pipes freezing or something, so until the school can get fixed up Winter Break starts earlier than planned."

"YES!" Jet cried as she turned to Viki, "You hear that Viki! That means we can actually hang out the whole time you're here!" She cried.

"Yay!" Viki cried as the two hugged each other and began to bounce up and down in delight.

Aidan smiled slightly. "And it gets better, but first you mind letting me in first?" He said nodding towards the inside of the house. "I don't know if you've noticed, but it is chilly out here."

"Oh!" Jet said eyes widening in realization as she and Viki hastily stepped back. "Sure sure come on in!" She said ushering Aidan in.

The blond boy grimaced slightly as he walked inside and tugged his hat off and running a hand through his messy blond hair. "Much better."He said as Jet closed the door outside shut. "Well, anyways you know how Mike moved down to Kansas with his mom after his Dad left?"

Jet's expression darkened. "Yeah." She said sadly. "I miss him-"

"Well you won't be missing him for much longer, he's coming back to Chicago to spend Christmas with his Uncle! And they're bringing Tyler too!"

Jet's eyes widened as she and Viki began to jump up and down with excitement once more. "REALLY?! We're going to see Mike and Tyler too! YAY!" The two girls cried.

"Oh I can't wait!" Viki said, "I'd love to see Tyler make fireworks and set em off!"

"Fireworks in December! How funny would that be!" Jet agreed and the two continued to giggle and grin. Aidan frowned a little and edged back from the two girls.

"But… I have some bad news…" Aidan said.

"Huh?" The two paused in their happy chittering to focus back on the boy.

Aidan sighed. "Remember the International Tournament that was coming up in New York City? None of us ranked high enough to place." He said shaking his head.

"What?!" Jet and Viki cried.

"Yeah. You have to be ranked in the top 32 in the world to participate, and we weren't close enough. It was like Jet was ranked 43rd," Jet tried to smile but it looked more like a grimace, "Viki you were ranked 50th, Mike was ranked 55th, I was ranked 57th, Alica was ranked 51st, and Tyler was ranked somewhere up in the 100s."

Viki sighed. "Aww man that's too bad." She said.

Jet shrugged. "Yeah, that was going to be my excuse to see Alica."

Aidan raised an eyebrow. "Uh Jet you'd still be a bit too far North to really be able to see her."

"I'd be a good bit closer!" Jet protested.

"Not close enough." Aidan deadpanned rolling his eyes. "Anyways, I-" Something in his pocket vibrated and he frowned. "One sec." He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. The screen lit up and he frowned eyes following the text that appeared on his phone and he sighed. "crap."

"What's up?" Jet asked moving her head to try to get a glimpse of what was on his phone which Aidan quickly turned off and returned into his pocket.

"Just something I need to go take care of." Aidan said dismissively waving his hand flippantly. "Which means I won't be seeing you guys again until tomorrow." He said.

"Aww. I wanted to ask if you'd like to hang out with us as well." Jet said pouting slightly.

Aidan laughed and shook his head. "Sorry but that'll have to wait until tomorrow,"

"Okay." Jet said still looking disappointed.

"That's fine Aidan." Viki said smiling. "It was nice meeting you at last though." She said holding out her hand to him.

Aidan smiled slightly and took her hand shaking it. "Indeed, I look forwards to getting to know you this week." He said. "Good bye for now, Jet, Viki." He said as he opened the front door and sighed as he put his hat back on.

"Bye Aidan!" Viki said waving happily.

"yeah, bye." Jet said though her wave was a good bit more subdued.

Aidan merely nodded again before he exited closing the front door behind him.

Viki heaved a sigh. "Well now that all that excitement's over I'm going to go get some grub." She said then glanced back at Jet who was frowning slightly.

"Oh, I'm not all that hungry at the moment," Jet said then she smiled and waved her hand flippantly. "You can go ahead and start, there was something I wanted to look into real quick on my laptop." She said.

Viki raised an eyebrow than she shrugged her shoulders and began to head off towards the kitchen. "All right then, suit yourself." She said.

Jet nodded as she trotted back up the stairs. For some reason she really wanted to talk to Darkusmaster, maybe to find out if he (or she, you could never tell online). Had made it to the international tournament. She didn't know why, but it just felt… Like she really ought to do it.

Above Jet's home a plane was flying by overhead. The pilot was keeping his gaze focused ahead and keeping track on the instruments around him.

Everything was going smoothly and they'd be landing at the airport in a matter of minutes. Already the announcement had been made for people to stay seated and buckle up for landing.

He checked the instruments again when his co-pilot beside him went rigid.

"John," The co-pilot said his voice thin and when John looked at him he saw his face was pale. "Look at that."

John frowned as he looked back at the window and his eyes widened. Two massive dark shapes were flying straight for them. One was dark red and the other was black. And if he didn't know any better he'd swear they looked like dragons!

"Oh god." He said as he felt himself freeze, what should he do? Should he move to avoid them or-

The dragons decided it for him one of them seemed to glance at the plane and then almost 'playfully' shoved the other one out of the way and the two proceeded to wrestle as the plane passed them by, leaving the pilots stiff and frozen.

"What the hell was that?" The co-pilot whispered.

"I don't know." John said. "But whatever it was we never speak of this. Ever."

The co-pilot gulped and mumbled his agreement as they returned to focus on landing the plane.

Masquerade had been going through the bakugan battlers that were currently listed in the rankings and the bakugan that were ranked the strongest. He gave out a grunt of annoyance. Despite the fact that he'd been going through the rankings for over an hour, none of the battlers showed much promise. In fact he doubted that they'd even have the nerve to even think of challenging the brawlers. He sighed and rested his head in his hand and continued to stare at the screen.

DarkusJet - eh it was nothin' but aren't you glad that I can't beat you for real? You'd be toast.

He smirked at the memory, now that was the kind of battler he was looking for. One that had the nerve and sense of a battler, but also knew what to throw at their opponent and when, unlike Dan.

"Master!" Hydranoid shouted, jolting Masquerade out of his thoughts. The darkus bakugan was waddling backwards away from the computer "A small beep emitted from the computer! It's alive!" Beneath the mask Masquerade rolled his eyes and bit back a sigh.

"Hydranoid that just means that someone posted something onto-" His face broke out into a smirk. Masquerade grasped the mouse and minimized the brawlers site, while reopening the other dimension's bakugan site. Just as he'd expected a message from DarkusJet was waiting for him.

DarkusJet - Hey, Darkusmaster you out there?

Masquerade's smirk grew. This was good, oh this was very good indeed.

A/N: All right that was a bit better. Yeah we don't get to meet Tyler and Mike in this chapter anymore but I like the way this is played out.
