A/N: sorry sorry sorry! I took so long! I know there aren't many people who follow and like my story, but I apologize for those who actually care! School is over so guess what? More time to write! Hopefully. As long as I have motivation!

In response to one of my reviews, I guess I will continue on the story instead of ending it right now. Soooo, enjoy the newest chapter!

Chapter 10

"Ayumu!" Hizumi yelled, grabbing a pan that had clattered to the floor and throwing it towards Katsu's feet. Katsu stumbled over the messy pan and tumbled down to the floor, catching herself in time to not face plant into the ground.

"Jeez, no need for that," Katsu said, rolling to her feet as Hizumi took his place protectively in front of Ayumu.

"What do you mean no need for that? You're the one barging in here with a knife!" Hizumi yelled. "The way you sounded the other day, I thought you were going to give up!"

"You see, I was going to," Katsu admitted with a shrug. "But then I felt like I was issued a challenge."

"What are you talking about?" Hizumi asked.

"Blame Kiyotaka, like for everything else," Katsu spat out.

"My brother?" Ayumu asked a little shakily, finally regaining his voice after the few minutes of panic.

Katsu rolled her eyes. "No, the other Kiyotaka I hate," she said with sarcasm. "Yes, your brother. He just pisses me off. Waltzing in my home like he owns the place and mocking me!"

"How many times do I have to tell you that you're mad at Kiyotaka and to not take it out on his brother?" Hizumi asked frustrated. "Ayumu did nothing to you!"

Katsu smiled sadly at Hizumi. "You know as well as I do that it's impossible to get revenge on Kiyotaka by going after him. An eye for an eye. He took away part of my family, so I'm going to take away part of his."

"That's what you think."

Katsu's eyes formed into slits as she glanced behind her to see Kousuke standing behind her with a smile and a gun pointed at her back.

"And yes, this one actually has bullets," Kousuke added as he made is way over in front of Ayumu, continuing to point the gun at Katsu.

"I guess I stalled you enough to get some backup," Hizumi smiled, holding up his phone. Katsu saw that Hizumi must have dialed Kousuke's number and after hearing the conversation it wouldn't have been rocket science to figure out Hizumi wanted help.

"You don't play fair," Katsu said, forcing a smile to try to remain in control.

"Aren't you proud? Devil's don't play fair, do they?" Hizumi smirked.

"The others are on their way," Kousuke said. "It's your move Katsu."

Katsu bit her lip. "Hizumi, can I talk to you? Alone?"

"Why should I?" Hizumi asked, glaring hard at Katsu.

"I just want to talk is all."

"No matter what you say, this situation won't change."

"Think it through, brother," Katsu said, taking a step towards them, earning a threatening click of Kousuke's gun. Katsu stopped with a sigh. "I guess you're right, huh? After what I just saw it would be silly of me to believe I could talk you into it."

"What you just saw?" Kousuke questioned.

"Nothing," both Hizumi and Ayumu said in unison. Katsu let out a laugh just as Rio and Ryoko walked into the house.

"You just don't give up, do you?" Ryoku asked.

"It's not in my nature," Katsu smiled at them as they walked over by the other group.

Hizumi sighed. "You're just not thinking like you should," Hizumi said. "You were like my sister. What happened?"

Katsu looked at Hizumi hurt. "I still consider you a brother, Hizumi."

"Then act like it. Please, just leave us be. Please, just be that little girl that used to play with me in the yard. Be that girl who laughed when I did something stupid on purpose so I could hear that happiness. Live peacefully with us. Please," Hizumi pleaded.

Katsu stared, and then quickly looked away as she tried to blink back tears. "You don't know how hard that is."

"But can't you at least try?" Hizumi asked. "We won't let you near Ayumu, so please just give up."

Katsu sighed. "Yeah, you're right. Like everything else in my life, this is pointless. I know when I am beat."

Hizumi walked up to Katsu sadly and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't say that. Please don't say that. All I'm asking is to leave Ayumu out of this. If it's about getting to Kiyotaka, I wouldn't even mind helping on that idea," Hizumi said with a slight smile.

Katsu smiled up at Hizumi. "You're such a sap."

"What?" Hizumi asked, just as he felt a small prick on his side. He glanced down to see a small syringe Katsu was holding sticking from his side, whatever contents were in it were now flowing through his bloodstream.

"You were right, brother. I can't get close to Ayumu," Katsu smiled as she caught the unconscious boy as he slowly fell.

"Hizumi!" Ayumu yelled. He went to dart after his devil, but Kousuke caught him by the waist to stop him from proceeding. "Let me go!" Ayumu yelled, not getting very far as his wounds began to ache from the strain.

Katsu gave a small salute as she easily perched the sleeping boy across her shoulder. "See you later, I'm sure," Katsu smiled as she sauntered out of the house.

"What are you doing? Go get him!" Ayumu yelled at the other Blade Children.

Rio glanced up at Ayumu a little sadly. "I think it's for the best, Ayumu. I mean, he is probably going to try to kill you. And if it's between you and him, I'd rather have you."

"What kind of reasoning is that? He's not going to hurt me!" Ayumu yelled, slipping down to the ground to sit as he started to feel exhausted.

"How are you so sure? I thought you of all people would see that it's reasonable to believe all Hizumi wants is to kill you before you are supposed to kill him," Ryoko said.

"He…he just won't," Ayumu said, looking at the ground.

"Sorry, Ayumu. But we aren't going to risk our lives for a guy who threatens yours," Rio said.

"You should get some rest," Kousuke suggested. "Call if you need us."

Ayumu watched in dismay as the only three people who could help walked out of the door. He leaned back and lied on the ground, staring up at the ceiling. What was he going to do now?
