A/N: so I guess it's obvious but I did find a way to post it from my phone! Yay! Lol so more chapters will definitely come because it's so boring being on a bus for hours! Haha I guess I'm also trying to make up for the long period of time I never updated this story. Also- I am typing on my phone so I apologize for errors. I'll blame autocorrect.
Chapter 13
Katsu ran for the door, looking petrified. As she turned the knob, Hizumi placed his hand on the door to prevent it from opening. Katsu quickly backed away, but not fast enough for Hizumi to grab the collar of her shirt.
"Hizumi, this isn't you," Katsu said, trying to pry his hands off of her shirt to no avail.
Hizumi slammed Katsu against the wall. She flinched as she felt the stone wall dig into her back. "What's the matter?" Hizumi asked, his cold voice surprising Ayumu. "I thought you wanted me to be more like my brother."
"Let's just talk about t-" Katsu began, but an exploding pain to her right cheek made her stop. She looked at Hizumi surprised. "You punched me."
Without answering, Hizumi tossed Katsu to the ground. He knelt down and pressed a knee into her gut.
"Hizumi...?" Ayumu said shakily. He didn't like the way he was acting. It wasn't his usual self, and it scared Ayuma.
"Shut up!" Hizumi snarled, making Ayumu freeze in surprise. He wrapped his fingers around Katsu's throat and brought his other fist down hard on her face. Again and again, Ayumu watched as Hizumi relentlessly beat Katsu's face hard enough so that blood began to splatter on the ground beneath them.
"Hizumi," Ayumu said shakily. "Hizumi, stop! Please stop!"
Hizumi's fist froze midair. Ayumu held his breath as Hizumi started panting, looking around startled as if he had just realized what he had been doing.
"Hizumi...?" Ayumu asked warily.
Hizumi stood up quickly and Katsu scampered out from beneath him. With her left side of her face bloody and swollen, Katsu cowered in the corner of the room.
"I-I don't know what... I'm sorry," Hizumi said, still seeming like he was in a daze. He looked at his hand that was spotted in Katsu's blood. "Katsu..."
"Just leave," Katsu said, spitting out a stream of blood. "Just take Ayumu and leave." She tossed the key to the shackles at Hizumi's feet, making sure he wouldn't come near her.
Hizumi just nodded. He picked up the keys and unlocked Ayumu's hands, making sure to catch him before he fell to the ground.
"What happened?" Ayumu asked, steadying himself without putting weight on the leg that Katsu stabbed.
"Let's just get out of here. We will talk about it later," Hizumi said, leading Ayumu towards the door.
Katsu watched them leave through her eye that wasn't swollen shut. She couldn't get that image of Hizumi's eyes. How thin they were and how emotionless. They were just like Yaiba's eyes.
"Now explain," Ayumu said, crossing his arms as he sat down on his couch.
"Shouldn't we go to the hospital first? I mean, you did get stabbed pretty badly," Hizumi said.
"I'm fine. I don't want to go back to that place. It will just raise more questions."
"Then at least let me wrap the wounds up."
"Not until you tell me what happened in there," Ayumu said. "That wasn't normal."
Hizumi laughed humorlessly. "Is anything about us normal?"
"Hizumi," Ayumu stated, making sure Hizumi knew that he was being serious.
Hizumi sighed. "Ok, Ayumu, I need you to promise me something."
Ayumu raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"Well, what you saw back there... I kind of snapped."
"Yeah, I got that much."
"Yaiba used to be just like me. He used to not be a bad guy. But slowly, he started to be something else. And his temper got shorter and shorter until he never was really angry anymore. He was just that scarily calm person that didn't care for anyone. That's how he became the Devil. And I'm afraid that it's happening to me now," Hizumi said sadly.
"Hizumi, what are you saying?"
Hizumi looked straight at Ayumu. "If I get really bad, if I really start to hurt more people, you have to kill me."
Ayumu stared at Hizumi in shock. "What? How could you even ask me to do something like that?"
"Ayumu..."
"No! You don't have the right! Whatever this is, we can find a way so you never become like your brother!"
"Says the guy who is so concerned what his brother thinks."
Ayumu paused, knowing Hizumi wasn't wrong. "Can we just drop this for now?" Ayumu asked tiredly. "I hurt and I want to go to bed."
Hizumi nodded. "Let me fix you up a little bit before you sleep."
"Fine, just hurry up," Ayumu said while looking at the ground, already feeling heat rise to his face even before Hizumi started wrapping his wounds.
Ayumu sat there awkwardly while he obtained more bandages covering his skin.
"I have a question," Hizumi said as he replaced the bloody bandages on Ayumu's hand.
"Oh great, what?" Ayumu sighed.
"What do you really think of me?"
Ayumu hesitated. "What do you mean?"
"I mean do you like me? Like actually. Not just pretending or anything. And after I confessed, and after that whole thing that happened in the kitchen, I was just wondering what you really thought about all this."
Ayumu felt his face heat up as he looked anywhere but at Hizumi. "If you're asking if I don't trust you still than that's a stupid question. I tried to save you, didn't I?"
Hizumi smiled slightly, knowing that Ayumu wouldn't say anymore than that. "Right. Well, let's get you to bed."
"What about you?"
Hizumi ran his finger along one of the many whip wounds. "I'm fine. They don't really hurt anymore."
"That's not the point, they could get infected." Ayumu grab be the disinfectant and started to douse Hizumi's wounds in it.
Hizumi flinched at the slight sting but smiled. "It feels nice to be taken care of by Ayumu."
Ayumu blushed and stood up. "I'm going to bed." He hustled to his room and collapsed on his bed. Hizumi's question ran through his mind. What did he think of him? Why did he go on a suicide mission to save a person who could be trying to kill him? The entire situation seemed very familiar to him and it made Ayumu frustrated. Hizumi did the same thing and he claims it was because he loved Ayumu.
So Ayumu laid in bed thinking it over and over and over again.
Did he do it for the same reason?
