Heya everybody. I wanted to give a shout out to babybluecat247 who reviewed. It really made my day reading it. I really appreciated that you not only reviewed, but gave me a tip on how to make it better. You're right, Alek does need to be cockier in the story and I'll try to fix that. I know that you weren't trying to be rude (: It was great to hear your opinions, so keep them coming!

I'm almost at 100 reviews! YAY! I really hope that we reach 100 this chapter so please review.

Chapter 22

"Are you hungry Kai?" I asked him as we walked downstairs with Alek right behind us. Alek was currently lying down on the couch downstairs, listening to everything we did. After the talk with Alek, Kai woke up so I order some food for him and Alek bandaged some of his wounds. I decided that the best place for him to hide would be the attic until my mom left for work the next morning, but Alek didn't agree.

"Are you sure about this Chloe? You've done enough for him already and hiding a Jackal in your attic is really dangerous."

"Come on, what's he going to do?" I asked. "Groan at me to death? He's in so much pain that he's having trouble walking. I think I'll be fine." Alek didn't look convinced at all but helped move Kai to the attic after he woke up and bandaged him up. "Thank you, it means a lot to me that you would help Kai."

"I'm not doing it for him," He reminded me.

"But at least you're helping. You should probably get back to Mimi and Jasmine. Won't they be worrying that you're not back yet?"

"I'm going to stay here,"

"Because you're worried about Kai?" I asked annoyed, although I already knew the answer was yes.

"Ever think I just want to spend more time with my girlfriend? Besides, we both know that nothing can get past me." He said, ignoring my question, but I still couldn't stop my lips from turning upwards in a smile.

It was amazing how quickly Kai was healing. He was already able to walk by himself, but his eye was still swollen and he was badly bruised. "Yeah, a little,"

"Okay," I smiled. "My mom made pancakes and bacon this morning that you can have." As soon as I smelt the bacon, I knew that she had news. She never cooks unless she has news. It turns out that she started seeing her coworker and wanted to know if that was okay with me. My dad has been gone for years, so I had no problem telling her that it was fine with me. As much as I wanted him to return, it's time that we move on with our lives, and if this guy makes her happy, then I'm glad.

"Thanks," Before I could say anything else, I heard a knock at the door.

"Wait, Chloe, you shouldn't-" I heard Alek start to say but it was too late, I had opened the door.

"Hey Chloe," Jasmine said. Standing next to her was Mimi; both were in workout clothes. "We were thinking we could extend your training today since its Sunday." They both walked into the hallway and into the kitchen where I forgot that Kai was sitting at the table eating pancakes.

"What is he doing here?" Mimi's eyes became slits, her claws suddenly came out, and she started to charge at Kai, with Jasmine right behind her.

"Wait," I stepped in between Kai and Mimi. "Don't hurt him. He's not going to do anything. It's safe."

"He spent the night last night," Alek answered her.

"You are an idiot." Mimi coldly told Alek. "What would posses you to allow a Jackal stay at the Uniters house? He could've slit her throat at night while she was sleeping!" Her voice was rising in volume.

"Chloe, you're the Uniter?" Shock appeared on his face.

"As if you didn't know!" Mimi sneered. "Were you going to befriend her than kill her when she least expects it?"

"Mimi, chill," Alek walked up behind me. "As stupid as I think she is to trust Kai," He gave me a pointed look. I was shocked that he was sticking up for Kai. "He hasn't done anything that warrants that amount of suspicion. Besides, you two hurt him enough to the point where's he's not much danger anymore." That explains why he allowed it last night. "And, I was here all night. I wouldn't have let anything happen to her."

"Aren't you suppose to protecting her? Instead of literally allowing danger to walk through the door?"

"I have good judgment," Alek defended himself. "Nothing was going to happen when he's as beaten up as he is, and when I was there with her the entire night."

"You used to have good judgment, but now, it's clear that your decisions aren't entirely based off what's best for her protection."

"What's that suppose to mean?" He asked angrily.

"It means that you care more about what she wants, then what we need to do to keep her safe. Face it, before you to started dating, would you have even considered the possibility of letting a Jackal stay over for a sleepover?" Her voice was full of bitterness.

"That is probably the stupidest thing you have ever done in regards to her safety." Jasmine sided with Mimi. All throughout their arguing, I expected Jasmine to say something to defend her cousin, but instead, she looked just as mad as Mimi. Kai had stopped eating breakfast, and was staring at them, a look of terror in his eyes.

"I'm right here; don't talk about me like I'm not." I said, getting tired of this, but it was like I hadn't even spoken.

"You need to reconsider your priorities when it comes to the Uniter,"

"I've kept her safe this long without your help."

"Really? Is that what you call it? She's lost a life, been attacked how many times? Including just within a week where she was chased throughout the streets because you needed to go to a basketball game, resulting in a broken leg and a ninja star to her calf. And then, she was nearly drowned!" Alek looked like he was in pain when she finished lecturing him.

"THAT'S ENOUGH!" I screamed. "I have made my decision. Kai will stay here as long as he wants and he will not be harmed in anyway. And all the times that I've been hurt has been because of my own stupidity, not Alek's. And every time I put myself in a dangerous situation, Alek and Jasmine have shown up and save my life. Without them, I would've been through a whole lot worse so knock it off."

Alek's POV

"Are you sure that Kai's going to be safe at my place when we're at school?" Chloe asked worriedly as we stood by her locker, only a little space was left between us. She bit her bottom lip like she always did when she was worried about something. It was so adorable.

"Mimi and Jasmine gave us their word, it will be fine. I promise." She looked doubtful, but trusted me enough not to bring it up again.

"Has anybody told you that you're a close talker?"

"Just you," I smiled.

"It's not a compliment."

"You sure about that?" I smiled and leaned in closer to kiss her. Our lips brushed only for a moment, but it was fantastic. "Because it makes it easier for me to do that," I leaned my forehead against Chloe's, and saw her cheeks flush pink.

"I guess there's a positive side," She mumbled.

"It all depends on how you look at it." I told her. "Tonight, I'm going to take you out on a date."

Nobody's POV

"We just have to play it smart." Mimi said earlier that day. "If we do, we might be able to get Kai to show us his family and take them all out at once. No risk of retaliation and more of them dead." Her voice emphasized the word them. Jasmine was sitting on the other side of the couch as Mimi, her arms hugging her legs. Alek had already left for school, so Mimi thought it would be a good time to strategize.

"I don't know Mimi," She said slowly. "I don't want to betray Chloe. We shouldn't do anything behind her back."

"This might be the only way to protect her. Make it so she doesn't lose any more lives or have to suffer anymore than she already has. We have to do anything we possible can to protect her."

"We don't even know if he would lead us to his family. How will we know when it's time to act?"

"Trust me, you'll know." Mimi's confidence was overwhelming. "I'll make sure of it."

I need something Aleky for the date. I want it to be unique. Ideas?
