Ok, now it's gonna be a while until the next chapter. I've not started anything between this chapter and the festival lol
Please bear with me and enjoy!
Levy had the pleasure of silencing her alarm this morning. She had nothing to do today with the boys out on a job and it was rare to see Gajeel out before noon, so whatever he wanted would happen later. It was a chilly morning, so she snuggled down in her mountain of covers. Even she liked to sleep in sometimes.
She woke up later to an unfamiliar sound. She glanced at the clock, it was 10 am.
'Must be my imagination.' The mage yawned and rolled over.
-clink-
She peeked out of her cocoon and into her room, but nothing was there.
-click, clink-
She bolted up.
"What is that? It sounds like it's coming from outside."
She groaned and got out of bed to look out her window.
Sure enough, the source of the distraction was standing below her window. It was Gajeel.
"Finally, you deaf or something?" her dragon slayer yelled up
"I was trying to sleep!" She motioned to her pink pajamas.
"Tsk. I told you I was gonna come get you."
"You asked me if I was free!"
"Yeah, and?"
'Seriously? Dragon slayers!' she sighed
"What are you still doing down there?" Levy waved him up
"Are you fuckin' nuts? Titania will murder me if I go up there!"
Levy laughed, if there was one person he'd admit to being afraid of, it was Erza. Not that she blamed him.
"She's not even here, bolts for brains!"
"Oh."
He nimbly made his way up the tree near the building and climbed in her window.
His jaw dropped as he took in her room.
"Dammit, Shorty. I knew you liked books but this is a library!"
She forgot he'd never seen her room before. Giggling, she pointed at some boxes on top of the shelves.
"That's not even all of them. I have some in the guild library too."
"So, what are we doing that you're here so early and..."
Levy scanned him over, he was dressed in a nice pair of black slacks and a gray button down shirt. His hair was tied at the nape of his neck.
"And what?" He waved his hand in front of her face.
"Nothing, it's just unusual to see you so early and not at the guild."
"Well that bookstore of yours is opened back up again and I -"
The bluenette squealed with delight.
"Really? Oh my gosh, I gotta go change!"
He had to admit seeing her so excited was cute. Guess he was doing one thing right so far.
"I'll be right back!" she said as she zoomed around the room to collect her clothing and practically flew into the bathroom.
She emerged in a pair of tight jeans and the pretty red orange dress she wore when Laxus attempted his takeover of Fairy Tail. He never would have noticed it before, but damn did that hug her in all the right places.
"What'cha staring at? C'mon, let's go!" She grabbed his hand and dragged him out of her room.
"Oi, Shrimp! Slow down, we got all day!" The end of his sentence was accented with a laugh.
"Sorry...sorry! I got too excited."
He squeezed her hand.
"It's ok, just don't drag me like that. I didn't know your little legs could go that fast! Gihi~"
"Gajeel!" she huffed.
The bell rang as Levy swung the door to the bookstore open.
"Hello, Mrs. Maunder!"
"Miss Levy! Good to see you again. And you too, though I don't recall your name."
"Gajeel Redfox." he said politely, "I told you I'd bring her."
Levy glanced back and forth between the two.
"This young man helped me out when I returned to my shop." The woman smiled sweetly
"It was nothin'. Shorty, aren't you gonna get your books?"
"Uh, yeah."
Levy perused through the books while Gajeel wandered throughout the store. She spared a glance his way.
'He knew she was back but didn't tell me sooner?'
The shopkeeper approached her.
"He seems sweet on you, dear."
Levy smiled at her.
"He is, we just started dating." The word sounded strange coming from her mouth. That's when she realized what was happening.
'He meant this to be a surprise.'
Lucy's words echoed through her mind.
'Maybe he just doesn't know how exactly to express it.'
The clothes and the hair, it all made sense now.
He was trying to take her on a date.
"Excuse me a minute."
"Of course dear."
Levy made her way toward her boyfriend, grinning ear to ear at his adorable attempt. He started when she took his arm.
"Shrimp?"
"Gajeel, how about we go get lunch?"
"But we just got here, you were so excited."
"Hey, you said it yourself. We have all day."
