Chapter 16: Surprise Week Part 2
Tuesday morning came faster then anyone expected, the boys were already gone by the time the girls got up having an early meeting with coach Whitey before their first class at 8am. Brooke and Haley got lucky this morning especially when they found the house to them selves. Peyton had left early to drop Jenny at daycare and Rachel left early to meet Chase for breakfast.
Haley walked into the kitchen to find Brooke already in there making something to eat.
Haley: morning Brooke, how you feeling today?
Brooke: morning Hales, I'm feeling okay slightly nauseous but I only threw up once this morning. How are you feeling?
Haley: about the same, slightly nauseous and I only threw up once this morning. I have to say I'm glad to have the house to ourselves this morning
Brooke: I couldn't agree more, I don't even want to go in for our first class but if we don't Rachel and Peyton will find out and probably tell Nathan and Lucas
Haley: yea I know what you mean but once our class is over we have the doctor's appointment then back to class and cheer practice
Brooke: I know, I'm hoping the girls can pick up the routine today
Haley: you and me both
Brooke: well we should get going or we'll be late for class
Haley and Brooke grab their bags and purses and head out to the car. They throw their bags in the back seat and Haley got in the passenger seat while Brooke got in the drivers seat and they headed off to the campus for class.
Brooke parks the car and they get out and head over to the coffee cart for tea before heading to class. Once they get to the classroom they find a note on the door saying class has been cancelled for the day and would resume tomorrow at 2pm.
Brooke: well that's just great; we could have stayed in bed longer
Haley: I know right; well I feel like some shopping what'd you say Brooke?
Brooke: I say absolutely, let's go!
With that the girls head back to the car and head to the mall with Haley driving this time. By the time the girls got to the mall it was 9:45am and they had to be at the doctors by 12:15pm. Brooke and Haley headed to star bucks first to get a vanilla bean frappacino then they headed to La Senza for some new undergarments. They then decided to go to HMV to get the new season of Rookie Blue and some movies for everyone to watch. Brooke also bought the new Miranda Lambert CD and Haley bought the new Carrie Underwood CD.
By 11am the girls had more bags then they could carry so they made their way to the food court for some lunch.
Haley: so tigger where do you want to eat?
Brooke: how about that new Japanese/Chinese place
Haley: sounds good to me tutor wife
Haley and Brooke head over to the new Japanese/Chinese place and Brooke orders egg noodles with teriyaki sauce and chicken balls on top while Haley ordered chicken fried rice with chicken balls. After paying for their food they found a table to sit down at and eat.
Half an hour later the girls were done eating and decided to head back to starbucks for a latte before heading out to the car to go to their doctor's appointment
Meanwhile back at NYU Nathan and Lucas were wondering where Brooke and Haley had gone off to because no one had seen them all morning and their phones kept going straight to voicemail and the guys were starting to get worried. Finally after trying for the fifth time Nathan and Lucas left messages.
Lucas: "Brooke its me, your not answering your phone and I'm getting worried, please call me so I know you're alright. I love you!"
Nathan: "Haley its me, your not answering your phone and I'm getting worried, please call me so I know you're alright. I love you!"
Lucas: c'mon Nate we got class, I'm sure they will call us back
Nathan: I hope your right
Lucas: if we don't hear back by the end of class we will head home and see if they are there
Nathan: okay
With that Nathan and Lucas headed off to their next class still thinking about Brooke and Haley and where they might be.
Meanwhile Brooke and Haley made it to the doctor's office 15 minutes before their appointment which was a good thing because they had some papers to sign so they would be official patients at that clinic. 5 minutes later Brooke and Haley were called into the office.
Nurse: Brooke Davis and Haley Scott, right this way
Brooke and Haley followed the nurse down the hall to the exam rooms, when the nurse asked if they wanted separate exam rooms they girls said no, so they made their way to exam room 5 and waited for the doctor. Not long later the doctor came into the room.
Doc: good afternoon ladies I'm Dr. Woods
Brooke: I'm Brooke Davis
Haley: I'm Haley Scott
Dr. Woods: what can I do for you two today?
Brooke: we both think we're pregnant
Haley: we woke up yesterday sick to our stomachs thinking it was just a stomach bug but then our friends suggested other wise
Brooke: then we realized we both missed our periods last month and so far this month
Dr. Woods: okay well I'll have the nurse come in with a urine cup for both of you and we will run it to check and I'm gonna send you both for blood work as well and we'll go from there
Brooke: thank you
Haley: thank you
Dr. Woods left the room and a few minutes later the nurse came back in and directed the girls to the bathroom. Once Brooke and Haley were done they made their way back to the exam room and waited for the Dr. to return.
When Dr. Woods returned she had a small smile on her face and she took a seat and turned to face Brooke and Haley
Dr. Woods: well ladies the urine test proves that you both are pregnant, I'm still going to send you both for blood work just to be extra sure and I'm also going to book you in for ultra sounds to determine how far along you guys are
Brooke: okay, can we get the blood work done today?
Dr. Woods: absolutely, I've got your requisitions all filled out, I don't think there will be to much of a wait downstairs and the nurse will help you book your ultrasounds
Haley: thank you Dr. Woods
Dr. Woods: just doing my job, now before we finish her I just need a bit more information from both of you
Brooke & Haley: okay
Dr. Woods: how old are you two?
Brooke: I just turned 19
Haley: 18 but I turn 19 in three weeks
Dr. Woods: okay, do either of your families have health problems
Haley: not that I recall but I haven't spoken to my parents since their divorce
Brooke: my dad died from a heart attack almost two years ago now and my mother has had problems with alcohol and drugs since before I was born
Dr. Woods: okay, I don't see any problems there, your both with somebody correct?
Brooke: yes I've been with my boyfriend for four years and we just got engaged
Haley: yes my husband and I have been married for almost four years
Dr. Woods: gotta love young love, do you know of any illness in your significant others families
Haley: I don't believe so I'd have to ask Nathan
Brooke: I'm not sure either Lucas' parents died in a car accident 4 ½ years ago. I'm sure I can find out though
Dr. Woods: okay no worries, last question have either of you been pregnant before
Brooke & Haley: Nope
Dr. Woods: okay well we're done for today, you are free to head down for your blood work and I'll see you both for your ultrasounds
Brooke: thank you, it was nice to meet you
Dr. Woods: your welcome and congratulations!
With that Dr. Woods followed the girls back to the front desk where she asked her nurse to book the girls in for ultrasounds.
The nurse booked Brooke and Haley in for the first two appointments the next day at 9am and 9:30am which worked out well because neither girl had class till 10:30am on Wednesday's
Once Brooke and Haley had their appointments booked they headed downstairs to get their blood work done. Dr. Woods was right they had no wait time they were taken right away, and within ten minutes they were on their way out to the car and back to campus.
Halfway back to the campus the girls decided to make a star bucks run for some hot chocolate. After getting their hot chocolate they got back in the car and headed for campus so they could make their next class, when Haley broke the silence.
Haley: I can't believe were pregnant
Brooke: I know, it's certainly hard to believe
Haley: you know were going to get an I told you so from Rachel, Peyton and Quinn
Brooke: ya I know, I'm not looking forward to that, how do you think Nathan and Lucas will react?
Haley: I don't know I just hope they're excited
Brooke: me too, I think I'm gonna wait till tomorrow to tell Lucas though I wanna have an ultrasound picture to show him when I tell him
Haley: I was thinking that too but I kinda want Nathan with me tomorrow
Brooke: can't tell one without telling the other though
Haley: so what do we do?
Brooke: we wait and see what class the boys have in the morning and go from their
Haley: okay sounds like a plan
With that they pulled into the campus parking lot and saw Lucas and Nathan walking towards the car and that's when they realized their phones were off and forgot to tell them their class had been cancelled
Brooke: we are in trouble Hales
Haley: that's for sure, we just have to play it cool and apologize
Brooke: here goes nothing
Haley and Brooke got out of the car just as Nathan and Lucas stopped beside their car
Brooke: hey broody, hotshot how's your day going?
Lucas: where the hell have you two been?
Haley: we went shopping cause our class had been cancelled
Nathan: why didn't you tell us that or answer your phones when we called
Brooke: didn't you get our text this morning?
Lucas: no, but that doesn't answer our question
Haley: our phones must have died and we obviously didn't realize it
Brooke: we're sorry
Lucas: its okay I suppose you're forgiven
Nathan: this time, don't do it again
Haley: well since you're here you guys can walk us to class
Nathan: it'd be our pleasure
Brooke: hey what time is your first class tomorrow?
Lucas: 8am why?
Haley: because we don't have class till 10:30am and we wanted to go for breakfast with out men
Nathan: oh we can't unfortunately, we have a test in that class tomorrow morning and if we miss it we can't retake it
Brooke: that sucks
Lucas: we're sorry
Nathan: we'll make it up to you though
Haley: okay
Nathan and Lucas walked the girls to class before heading of to their own class. Once inside the classroom Brooke and Haley found seats and started to talk
Brooke: I'm sorry Hales, I know you wanted Nathan with you but I'll be there
Haley: I know you will Brooke, its okay we can make them a romantic dinner instead
Brooke: sounds good to me I'll even cancel cheer practice for tomorrow and we can go shopping after our classes to get what we need for dinner
Haley: thank you Brooke
Brooke: anytime tutor wife, you know I'm always here for you
Haley: and I'm always here for you
With that Rachel, Peyton and Quinn walked into the classroom and took seats around Brooke and Haley
Rachel: and just where have you two been the guys have been worried sick
Brooke: our morning class got cancelled so we went shopping
Haley: and our phones died but we already saw Nathan and Lucas and we explained it to them
Peyton: oh okay, so how are you guys feeling today?
Brooke: much better
Haley: it was probably just a 24 hours stomach bug
Quinn: if you say so
Brooke: we do
Rachel: okay than.
The prof decided to walk in right at that moment which Brooke and Haley were grateful for. After class Brooke headed to the gym while Haley headed for her music class. While the other three headed to their advanced business class. Once Brooke made it to the gym she turned on her phone to check her messages and was surprised to see two voicemails and 10 text messages. Checking the texts first there was one from Rachel, one from Peyton, one from Quinn, one from Clay, one from Jake, one from Nathan and four from Lucas. Brooke figured the voice mails were from Lucas as well so she dialled her voicemail and entered her password and listened as Lucas' voice filled her head. Once the message finished she deleted it and waited for the next message to start and when she heart the voice she dropped her phone in shock wondering how that person got her number. Brooke was shaking but she managed to pick her phone up and hold it to her ear again as she hit one to replay the message.
Voicemail "you have one new message"
"First message:
"Hi Brooke, I don't expect your too happy to be listening to this message or having to hear my voice. I know you're probably still upset with me especially after our last conversation it certainly didn't go as I planned. I knew you'd be mad at me but I at least thought you would talk to me. You and Clay are my only children and as much as I've screwed up I still want you in my life. I want to meet up with you and Clay, I would like to explain myself and the things I've done in the past. I do love you both very much I hope you know that"
Brooke didn't know what to think so she saved the message and turned off her phone planning to find Clay and talk to him about all this.
Brooke sat in the gym for thirty minutes before she decided to shower and change for cheer practice. Once she made it back to the gym most of the squad was there they were just waiting on Haley, Peyton, Rachel and Quinn. Brooke decided to start the squad on stretching and just as they started the last four walked in and changed quickly and joined Brooke and the squad in stretching.
Brooke: all right ladies let's run the routine
Brooke ran through the routine with the girls once then she stopped to watch them run through it and was surprised to see how well they had learned it since yesterday
Brooke: I have to say I'm impressed with how fast you managed to pick it up considering none of you could get it right yesterday
Bevin: we kinda got together early this morning and ran through it a bunch of times till we were sure we had it right and we are sorry about yesterday
Brooke: you girls are certainly showing your dedication and I'm proud of you all, I'm also sorry for yesterday I shouldn't have yelled like that. I'm cancelling practice for tomorrow and Thursday but I still want you girls to meet up and practice if you can and well have one final practice on Friday at 4pm and warm-ups before the game at 6:30pm. Now lets run it a couple more times with the music, and then your free to go.
The squad ran through the routine twice more with the music and they had it down pat. Brooke dismissed the team and followed them all to the showers to clean up before heading home.
Half an hour later Brooke & Haley were heading towards the car when Peyton caught up to them hoping to tag along because Jake had basketball practice. The three girls pulled out of the parking lot and headed for the day care to pick up Jenny. Once they picked up Jenny they went home and Brooke and Haley plugged in their phones before heading to the kitchen to find something for dinner.
Two hours later everyone was sitting down for dinner including Clay and Quinn. After everyone had finished dinner Brooke started clearing plates and Clay got up to help her sensing something was bothering her. He followed her into the kitchen before he said anything.
Clay: hey cookie, you okay?
Brooke: nope
Clay: wanna talk about it?
Brooke: Victoria called me
Clay: what!?
Brooke: yea my phone died sometime this morning and when I charged it and checked my messages it was from her.
Clay: how did she even get your number?
Brooke: I have no fucking clue but I plan to find out
Clay: what did she want?
Brooke: let me grab my phone and you can hear for yourself
Brooke went to get her phone and then headed back to the kitchen while dialing her voicemail and entering her password. As she made it back to the kitchen she hit 1 and handed the phone to Clay so he could listen to the message. He listened to the whole message before ending the call and placing Brooke's phone on the counter.
Clay: I can't believe the nerve of the women
Brooke: what are we going to do?
Clay: you're not going to do anything; I'll take care of it
Brooke: okay, thank you Clay
Clay: anytime cookie, I love you
Brooke: I love you too big brother
