Ryota POV:

The temple passageway seemed to go on forever. It was a few minutes before I finally saw the exit. When I ran through the door, I found myself in a large open room. Another opening showed itself across the room. A lone figure slowly walked out from it. The Reaper admin Thoron.

"I was hoping for Ren to be my opponent, but I guess you'll do." Thoron sighed.

"Oh like I'm happy fighting the egotistical brainiac admin." I countered.

"Let's just get this over with already. You don't have a chance anyway." Thoron smirked. He threw out his pokeball, revealing a Magnezone. I threw out my Torterra in response.

"Take him down Torterra! Leaf storm!" I yelled. A cyclone of leaves manifested out of Torterra's back and charged at Magnezone.

"Light screen!" Thoron called out. A barrier of light appeared in front of Magnezone, absorbing most of the impact from the attack. Thoron gave a confident smirk.

"You don't stand a chance. My genius is supreme! I am the strongest!" Thoron yelled out.

"Torterra, stone edge!" I ordered, ignoring Thoron's ranting. Several stones appeared, all charging at Magnezone.

"Use reflect!" Thoron commanded. A new barrier appeared, protecting Magnezone from the majority of the attack. He followed up with a flash cannon attack, blasting away a large chunk of Torterra's hp.

Light screen and reflect... that's gonna be an annoying combo. I need to end this fast. It's a little risky, but I'll need to risk it all on one final attack.

"Torterra charge at Magnezone!" I yelled. Torterra kicked the ground and ran at its opponent.

"It's pointless. Magnezone finish it with hyper beam!" Magnezone began to charge up the attack. This split second was my only chance.

"Frenzy plant!" I ordered. Torterra stopped its charging and stomped the ground. Several large vines emerged from the ground and charged at Magnezone. The steel type pokemon quickly became tangled in the massive attack.

"Follow up with earthquake!" Torterra shook the ground of the temple and severely damaged Magnezone. It's hp became zero and the pokemon shattered.

"No way... I gathered the best pokemon from countless trainers... how could I possibly lose?" Thoron gasped.

"Because you're weak." I answered.

"I am invincible! I have some of the strongest pokemon in Sinnoh!"

"Strength isn't about your pokemon's level." I said. "Having the best pokemon in the world means absolutely nothing if you don't have the skill to back it up. You just took pokemon after pokemon. You never bothered to train them or see how they battle. That's the difference between you and me. Even Ren's little sister has more experience battling with her own pokemon than you."

"You little brat... how dare you... HOW DARE YOU?!" Thoron screamed. He swiped his hand down revealing his menu. He tapped several buttons and a small black ball appeared. "I'll show you my real strength! This item will blow this place sky high! And with that, you will die!"

He's insane! He'd really go that far?!

"This explosive will kill everyone here! But I've already set it so it can't harm me! Only I could create this item! This is a scientist's true power!" Thoron laughed. Suddenly however, a small red laser came out of nowhere, piecing Thoron's body. He became completely paralyzed and the explosive fell out of his hand.

"You always were too much of an egotist for your own good." a mysterious voice said.

"That voice... it can't be!" Thoron gasped. A swirling vortex appeared next to him. A lone figure walked out of it. He wore a white mask and a long violet robe. It took me a second, but I remembered that face from before. He was the GM that trapped us all here! He was the masked figure on the opening day!

"I've let you mess around enough in my game." the masked person spoke. "I had hoped I wouldn't have to interfere, but you have gone too far with that explosion stunt. This is MY world. Players will die from battles, nothing else." The masked man snapped his fingers and the beam spit apart, slicing Thoron's body apart. His avatar slowly dissolved into dust. He turned his head towards me.

"It's been a long time, Ryota."

"Yeah. Several months since you trapped us all in here. Although it's only been a few hours since you talked to me in my head after I caught Regigigas. How about an explanation for the hell you've created. "

"I was actually talking about before PWO started."

"What?! How do you know me from the real world?" I gasped.

"It's only natural for a father to know his own son." the man chuckled.

What?!

"No way... my father abandoned me and my mother when I was young." I said, shocked.

"That's half true. I left you because your mother threw me away. She couldn't stand the man I had become from my research in virtual reality. I left her. But I always kept an eye on you. When I found out you were in PWO I was ecstatic. I've watched you're progress in the game. You have become one of the strongest trainers there are."

"Get to the point of why I should care what you have to say." I glared.

"You don't have to be a mere player. You can join me and rule this world at my side. But there is something you must do first. You need to prove you are the strongest. And to do that you must defeat you're strongest foe. You must destroy Ren. Then no one will be able to match you."

Destroy... Ren?

"I am the strongest trainer. I won't destroy Ren. And I won't do your bidding. When we next meet, I'll kill you and end this game." I replied.

"You truly have your mother's foolishness." my father sighed. "But I know you have my ambition. Think my offer over. In time, you will realize your place is at my side." And with those parting words, he evaporated into smoke. The room was empty except for me. The exit opened up and I walked through it, heading further into the temple.

When the final battle comes father, I will kill you. That's a promise.
