A/N: It's time for another chapter everyone. I apologize for being so late with this update, but finals have been crazy. I hope you all like the chapter.

"Infernape, fire spin!" I commanded. Infernape leaped into the air and a spiraling vortex of fire came out of the fire type pokemon's palm. It engulfed the training field in an increadible blazing inferno.

"Wow Ren! That's incredible!" Misaki exclaimed. Other trainers in the area also stared at me in awe of Infernape's power.

"Well I think Infernape's all ready for the tournament." I said to myself, returning my partner to its pokeball. It had been a week since we first arrived at the Pokemon League. Only two more days remained until the tournament would start.

"We won't lose though. Right Empoleon?" Misaki said. The water type gave a nod of agreement to its trainer. "Time to finish practicing our new move!"

"New move?" Clair wondered.

"It's a secret." the female trainer winked. "I'm gonna go practice. See you guys later." We watched as Misaki ran off towards the woods.

A few hours passed by quickly through the intense training I was putting in. Before I knew it, Clair was calling me for lunch. I looked towards the woods, expecting to see Misaki, but I saw no sign of her. "I'm gonna go look for Misaki." I told Clair. I walked through the trees and looked for the female trainer. I was having trouble finding her, until I heard a voice call out in the distance.

"Darn it! Failed again!"

I walked towards the voice and entered a large clearing. I stared at Misaki as she and Empoleon caught their breath, looking incredibly exhausted.

"Empoleon... can you... keep going?" Misaki asked. Her partner interrupted its panting and gave a nod. "Alright then. Empoleon, use hydro cannon!"

Empoleon began to charge up energy in between its two fins. The energy began to form into a large ball of water. Suddenly, the water type pokemon's move exploded in its face and Empoleon got blown back from the blast.

"Damn it! Not again!" Misaki complained. "Why can't we get this move down?"

"I might be able to answer that question." I called out. Misaki turned towards me and gasped in shock.

"Ren?! You were watching?!"

"It's time for lunch." I explained. "I came to get you and I saw... that."

"Oh god! This is so embarrassing!" Misaki blushed. She turned even more red when I came over and gave her a kiss.

"You don't have to be embarrassed around me." I assured her. "Everyone has trouble at times. That's what friends are for."

"I know it's just that I've relied on you so much." Misaki explained. "I want to be able to rely on my own strength."

"Just let me give you some advice." I offered. "Try charging your move slowly. As Empoleon gets the hang of it, it will be able to do it faster."

Misaki thought about it for a second and gave a nod. "Ok, I'll try it."

After another few hours, Empoleon was finally starting to master hydro cannon. After their first success. Misaki was jumping with joy.

"Alright! We did it! Empoleon can use hydro cannon!" Misaki cheered.

The two of us headed back to the main building. Clair was waiting for us when we arrived. "Geez! What took you so long?! I ended up eating without you."

"Sorry. Special training." Misaki apologized. "But now that you mention it, I am getting hungry."

The two of us headed to the cafeteria for a late lunch. After we ate, we all decided to spend the rest of the day relaxing and taking a break from training. The next two days flew by and before we knew it, the day of the tournament was here.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

"Glaceon, use blizzard!" Upon hearing my command, Glaceon whipped up a freezing wind, encasing my opponent's pokemon in ice. The ice-type pokemon followed up with a shadow ball, finishing off the rest of its foe's HP. The crowd roared with excitement.

"And with that, Ren wins in yet another perfect victory!" the announcer called out. "That makes three matches in a row that the incredible trainer has only needed one pokemon to win the match!"

I returned Glaceon to its pokeball and walked back to the lobby, where Clair met up with me. The young brunette ran over to me cheering with joy. "That was awesome big brother! You're invincible!"

It's true that I was winning most of my matches fairly easily. However, that was mostly due to the intense leveling up I did from battling Team Reaper, and the special training I had done ever since I arrived here. Most of my opponents however lacked the battling experience I had acquired. Ryota and Misaki had been winning their matches without too much trouble either. There were only 16 trainers left in the tournament. That meant four rounds remained for us. The battles wouldn't be so easy anymore.

"Hey I think Misaki's match is starting soon." Clair remembered. "Let's go watch."

The two of us headed over to Stadium B, where Misaki's match was supposed to be. By the time we arrived, her battle was nearly over. Misaki's opponent only had one pokemon left while Misaki still had two. Her current pokemon out was her Altaria. On the other side was a Toxicroak.

"Toxicroak use poison jab!" Misaki's opponent ordered. Toxicroak charged at Altaria with its claws veiled in a violet color.

"Counter with mist!" Misaki commanded. Within seconds, the entire battlefield was covered in a blanket of fog. Misaki followed up with a dragon breath attack, creating a huge explosion. When the mist cleared, Toxicroak was down for the count.

"And the winner is Misaki!" the announcer yelled. Misaki waved her arms to the crowd as they cheered for the victorious trainer. We met up with her outside the stadium.

"Yeah baby! I'm on fire!" the female trainer exclaimed. "I can't wait for my next match!"

"Are you always so happy with a simple victory like that?" a voice asked. Misaki instantly knew who its condescending owner was. "Try and win without losing any pokemon. Then you can cheer."

"It's always something with you isn't it Ryota!" Misaki growled. "And just how many times have you won in a perfect victory?"

"Three as a matter of fact, just like Ren." Ryota answered with a smirk. "He's the only real competition here anyway."

"That's it! You are so going down you pompous jerk!" Misaki yelled. "Make sure you keep winning until you face me! I'm going to be the one to beat you!"

"Bring it on." the black haired trainer responded as he walked away, leaving Misaki seething with anger.

"Let's get back to the lobby." I suggested. "The next match ups should be posted soon." Misaki and Clair nodded in agreement and the three of us headed to the main stadium lobby. I could see a crowd of players by the registration desk, looking at the monitor showing the next round matches.

"Let's see. My opponent is Suichi. Never heard of him so I doubt he's anyone special." Misaki sighed. "Who's you're opponent Ren?"

I scanned the screen for my face. I finally found it, but my opponent was a mystery. It showed a young girl with blonde hair. However, I couldn't see her face due to it being wrapped in cloth. The only part of her face visible was her eyes and her hair.

"Well my opponent is a complete mystery." I sighed. "No clue who that is."

The rest of the day, we spent talking about our battles so far. I still had no clue who that mystery trainer was, but I felt like I had met her somewhere before. But where? I decided to not worry about it too much and eventually drifted off to sleep.

A/N: Alright time for things to get serious. The next few chapters will be all tournament battles. I'm still taking any suggestions you have on what match ups you would like to see. Please feel free to post a comment or PM me. Have a Happy Holiday everybody.
