A/N: Hello readers. I apologize this update is so late, but it has been a busy week. Please enjoy this new chapter.
I opened my eyes to find myself lying in a bed. I looked around and saw that the room I was in was completely empty except for myself. I didn't know why, but my head was aching in pain. I had hoped that the world of PWO was over, but the clothes I was wearing and the fact that I could see a health bar at the top left of my vision proved that to be wishful thinking.
'Where am I?' I wondered as I dragged myself out of the bed. 'The last thing I can remember was battling Ryota in the finals. That guy Kagutsuchi showed up and then… what happened?'
I waved my hand and opened the menu. Everything seemed to be fairly normal. My pokemon team was the same, though there was one empty slot now. I mourned Deoxys for its sacrifice, but right now I had to figure out what was going on.
'I should at least check the map to see where I am' I decided. I pressed the map tab on my menu and expanded it to show what city I was in. The odd thing was, I didn't recognize the place. I wasn't even in Sinnoh anymore. Based on the shape of the land, it looked like I seemed to be in Kalos.
"Why the hell am I in Kalos now?!" I asked myself. "What the heck is going on?!"
As I wondered what to do and slowly started to panic, a friend message alert appeared in front of me, startling me a bit. The sender of the letter was Misaki. I immediately opened the letter and read it.
Ren, where r u? R u ok? –Misaki
I quickly typed a reply to the female trainer. Yes. I'm safe, but for some reason I'm not in Sinnoh anymore. I'm in Kalos. Not long after I sent the reply, another message came from her.
So am I
My eyes opened wide at the message. I quickly opened my friends list and scrolled down to Misaki. I pressed on her tab and searched for her location. Sure enough, she was in Kalos, just like me. Suddenly another thought raced through my mind.
What about Clair?
Ever since Clair came into this world, the system treated her like any other player. I quickly looked for my little sister in my friends list and searched for her location. The menu read that she was also in this city. I took a sigh of relief that Clair was safe and took a quick look at the map and found that there was a pokemon center in the city we were in. I typed back to Misaki and told her to meet me at the pokemon center. I typed the same message to Clair as well and headed for the rendezvous point.
I was the first to arrive in the pokemon center first and sat down to wait for Misaki and Clair. Not even a minute after I sat down, Clair came running into the building. She spotted me and ran into my arms.
"Big bro! You're okay! I was so worried!" Clair cried.
"It's alright sis. I'm here." I said in a soothing voice as I stroked her hair to calm the young girl down.
It wasn't much later after Clair came in that Misaki arrived as well. She ran towards me and wrapped her arms around me with tears rolling down her eyes.
"It's fine Misaki. I'm alright" I assured her.
"You idiot!" the black haired female yelled as she punched me in the shoulder. "Do you have any idea how worried I was?! You could have died!"
"Well I didn't die, now did I?" I replied with a grin.
"What happened in there anyway?" Clair asked. "What happened with that Ryota guy?"
"Don't even make me think about that jerk." Misaki growled. "If I ever see him again, I'll-" As she said this, a new player walked into the pokemon center. This time, it was Ryota.
"YOU BASTARD!" Misaki screamed. Ryota didn't even have a chance to react as Misaki ran at him and delivered a devastating hook to his face. "You've got some nerve to show your face her after what you did!"
"Misaki wait!" I pleaded getting between her and Ryota. "It's not Ryota's fault!"
"What are you talking about? You saw what he did! He tried to kill you!"
"I was being controlled!" Ryota argued.
"What kind of bullshit excuse is-"
"It's true" I interupted. "Look Misaki I get what happened looks really bad. I know how much of an ass Ryota must look like to you right now. But Ryota is telling the truth."
After finally getting Misaki to calm down, we all sat down together. Ryota and I explained everything that happened after Misaki and the others evacuated the stadium. Ryota filled in the holes of the story that I wasn't able to explain, telling us how the man behind PWO is actually his father who he hadn't even seen for twelve years.
"This is all so confusing" Misaki groaned as she tried to comprehend everything that was going on. "If Ren won and the tournament is over, what are we all still doing here? We should have been freed from the game."
"I don't get it either" Ryota agreed. "The only clue we have to go on is that bracelet that Ren got"
I looked at the metal band across his wrist. I didn't even get what this thing was supposed to be for. The only thing special looking about it was the rainbow colored stone set in it. As we all contemplated what to do next, an alarm went off. It came from outside so the four of us immediately rushed out the doors of the pokemon center. Looking at the sky, a red blinking message could be seen. Two words were visible on it. System Announcement.
"I've got a bad feeling about this." I said.
The system message spread across the sky and a figure appeared. It was a giant Kagutsuchi with his mask back on. Thousands of shouts were heard by the large amount of players in the city.
"Why are we still here?!"
"Let us out of here you jerk!"
"We want our freedom!"
"Greetings players" Kagutsuchi began with a loud and echoing voice. "I'm sure you're all wondering by now what is happening currently. Allow me to explain."
"Here it comes" Misaki said.
"Each of the regions in PWO has finished their respective tournaments." Kagutsuchi explained. "You have all battled giving it your all and have survived these past few months. I congratulate you all now, as the game moves on into its next stage. Out of the ten thousand players that originally logged into PWO, approximately seven thousand are still alive and every one of them have been transported to this city. The winners of each of the five region's tournaments have received a gift." He held out his hand, and I large version of the band I was wearing floated in his palm. "Having this item will give you a bigger chance to survive what is to come next. You will all wander around the Kalos region now, either training or searching for those that have this band and trying to take it from them. It is your choice how to spend your time. In two months' time, the fate of this world will be decided. That is the day you will either leave this game, or die. Acquiring this item will increase your chances of making it out of this game alive when that time comes. If you kill the person wearing it, the item will automatically attach itself to you."
It was at this moment, that I took my sleeve and slid it over the band on my wrist.
"Spend these next two months wisely trainers. Will you train to hone your own skills? Or will you attain the power in this item instead. The choice is yours. I wish you all the best of luck." As he finished his speech, he evaporated into mist and left us all alone once again.
A/N: Bum, bum, BUM! I hope you all are liking the new twists and turns this story is taking. I would like to apologize for the short length of the chapter, but this is what I was able to do so far.
In addition, this will be the last chapter for awhile. I am putting this fanfic on hold as I am busy with other fics and I need time to fully plot out the storyline for this next part. I hope to continue within a couple months, hopefully sooner. I apologize to all the readers that love this story, but I will try to continue it as soon as possible.
