Chapter 22
Engagement party, Club Azul…
So far the night had been a huge success. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves; they were dancing, drinking, and just overall having a blast. Bo and Lauren were currently making their rounds and trying to mingle with all of their guests. Lauren was at one end of the bar catching up with Natasha and Nikki, and Bo was at the other end taking shots with Jake, Dyson, Kenzi and Hale. Surprisingly, Jake seemed to really hit it off with Dyson and they had been hanging out for most of the night, scoping out the women and overindulging in alcohol.
"Come on Bo, just one more!" Dyson was trying to persuade Bo into taking her 4th shot of tequila. He signaled to the bartender to serve up another round of shots.
"No more, I can't. I'll end up too drunk and ruin any chance of getting lucky tonight." Bo was definitely starting to feel buzzed. She shook her head and tried to back away from the group, but was stopped when Jake threw his arm around her, effectively stopping her retreat.
"Oh come on, everyone here knows you're gonna get laid whether you're drunk or not! You and my sister can't keep your hands off each other!" Jake laughed as he handed Bo another shot.
"Gotta agree with your brother-in-law on that one, you and the Doc cant enough of each other's naughty bits, I mean, you two go at it like a couple of horny teenagers!" Kenzi exclaimed, picking up her shot and handing one to Hale.
"Alright, alright, fine! One more and that's it!" Bo picked up her shot glass as the small group cheered, drawing the attention of everyone around them, including Lauren who just looked on curiously. Bo made eye contact with her giving Lauren a subtle cue to come over and rescue her. Bo took the shot just as Lauren appeared behind her.
"Sorry to interrupt your guys attempt to get my fiancée drunk, but I need her for a little bit." Lauren smiled as she wrapped an arm around Bo's waist and kissed her cheek.
"Is this your subtle way of sneaking off for a quickie sis?!" Jake looked at Lauren and Bo with a smirk. "See I told you, drunk or not you're getting some." Jake laughed as he winked at Bo.
"Is that what you guys are over here talking about, our sex life?" Lauren asked as she looked at the group and then back at Bo with an arched brow.
"I wasn't, Jake brought it up." Bo responded quickly.
"Hey! Kenzi is the one who compared you to horny teenagers!" Jake pointed at Kenzi as he tried to avoid looking at Lauren.
"Snitches get found in ditches!" Kenzi said as she glared playfully at Jake. Hale and Dyson were trying hard not to laugh. "Besides, when are you two ever embarrassed about your sex life?" Kenzi questioned.
"Oh I'm not embarrassed at all; I just simply asked if that was what you all were talking about." Lauren smirked. "I think our sex life is pretty incredible, don't you?" Lauren looked at Bo with a sultry smile.
"Damn right! You're the best I've ever had." Bo bit her bottom lip as she gazed into Lauren's eyes.
"Shit! That had to hurt bro." Jake smacked Dyson's back as they all erupted into laughter.
"Ha, ha, go ahead, I can take it, laugh it all out." Dyson chuckled as he shook his head.
"You got to admit, that was pretty hilarious!" Hale exclaimed.
"Yeah well, I'm man enough to admit I couldn't keep up, I don't think any guy could." Dyson laughed.
"That's exactly what I told little Mama over here." Hale chuckled as he pulled Kenzi in closer to his side.
"Excuses, excuses." Bo said before she leaned in and whispered to Lauren, "You definitely have the stamina and the skills to keep me completely satisfied." Bo purred causing the blonde to visibly shiver.
"See, horny teenagers!" Kenzi quipped.
Lauren had to take a breath and look away from Bo to reign in her libido. She cleared her throat and changed the course of the conversation.
"Seriously though, I do need to kidnap my fiancée for a little bit. I want to introduce you to Natasha." Lauren said as she squeezed Bo a little tighter.
"Lead the way babe." Bo said as she reached for Lauren's hand and laced their fingers together.
The couple walked hand in hand over to the other side of the bar where Natasha, Nikki, and her husband Michael were all chatting while enjoying their drinks. Natasha was a tall woman, around 5'9, with a slender frame. She had porcelain skin, blue eyes, and long sandy brown hair. She was definitely attractive. In fact most people thought she looked like Lauren Prepon back when she was on, "That 70's show."
As soon as the couple approached the group, Natasha stood from her barstool and smiled widely at Bo and Lauren.
"Bo, it is so nice to finally meet you!" Natasha drew Bo into a friendly hug before pulling back to give her a once over. "Wow, you were right Nikki, Kar- uh I mean, Lauren, knows how to pick em'. Bo you are stunning. I mean I could tell from where I was sitting that you were attractive, but up close…"
"Thank you and it's really nice to finally meet you too." Bo smiled as she wrapped an arm around Lauren.
"Are you hitting on my fiancée?" Lauren asked playfully. "Should I be worried?" Lauren chuckled.
"Only if I was into the ladies, sorry Bo, as attractive as you might be you just don't do it for me." Natasha grinned.
"Good to know." Bo smiled as she pulled Lauren in closer.
"Now that man over there…" Natasha nodded toward the other end of the bar where Jake and Dyson were laughing and drinking. "That tall, manly, blonde, Chris Martin look-a-like, now that is more my type."
"Really?" Bo and Lauren looked at each other with a smirk, both thinking the same thing. "He's single you know?" Bo said with a sly grin.
"Is he now? Is he a friend of yours?" Natasha asked as she continued to check Dyson out.
"Yeah, we used to date." Bo stated nonchalantly. Natasha looked at Bo, surprised by the revelation. "It was only for a few months and before I met Lauren."
"What's wrong with him?" Natasha asked with a raised brow.
"Nothing is wrong with him." Lauren interjected.
"It just didn't work out…" Bo shrugged. "I'm glad it didn't, because if it had, I would have missed out on finding the love of my life." Bo smiled and leaned in to kiss Lauren's lips softly, to which Lauren melted into. "Everything happens for a reason." Bo whispered against Lauren's lips before pulling away.
"So do you want an introduction or not?" Lauren asked with a smile.
"Go for it! You're single, he's single, who knows, maybe you'll hit it off, and if not…" Nikki looked over her shoulder to make sure her husband was still engaged in a conversation with the bartender and said, "He looks like he'd make for a great one night stand."
The ladies all shared a laugh as Natasha looked to Bo for confirmation. Bo shook her head and shrugged, refusing to confirm or deny Nikki's assessment. "Sorry, can't help you there, Lauren has ruined me for anyone else, and anyone prior to her just pales in comparison."
"Great answer, babe." Lauren giggled as she placed a lingering kiss just under Bo's ear.
"Well it's true. So, if you wanna know, you'll have to find out for yourself." Bo grinned.
"Oh hell, why not!" Natasha took a deep breath and let it out as she adjusted her skirt. "You only live once, right?" Natasha looked at Bo motioning for her to lead the way.
Bo untangled herself from Lauren and led Natasha toward Dyson. Lauren hopped up on the barstool next to Nikki and shifted so she could see what was going to happen.
"YOLO!" Nikki shouted as her and Lauren chuckled.
An hour later…
Bo stood leaning on the railing of the VIP balcony that hovered over the dancefloor, sipping on her vodka soda, as she watched Lauren, Nikki, and Kenzi enjoy themselves on the dancefloor. Bo and Lauren had been talking with Alice, Lauren's mom, when Kenzi and Nikki came over to drag them out onto the dancefloor since Hale and Michael were engaged in a game of pool. Bo told Lauren to go ahead while she continued to talk to her future mother in law.
But since then, Alice had decided it was late and she wanted to go back to the hotel. Trick volunteered to drive her since he too had his fill of partying for the evening. So now Bo stood up on the balcony, eying her fiancée appreciatively as she moved her body to the music. Bo watched with lust filled eyes as Lauren swayed her hips to the beat, glancing up every so often and locking eyes with Bo. She continued to dance seductively, knowing she was having the desired effect on her wife to be. Bo was looking down at Lauren with an intensity that had her center throbbing.
"She really is sexy isn't she…" A familiar voice whispered into Bo's ear.
Bo spun on her heel in the direction of the voice only to come face to face with a smirking Katrina.
"This is a private party, what the hell are you doing here." Bo said through a clenched jaw.
"My company provides security for this place…" Katrina waved her hand around as she replied. "I'm working."
"Bullshit!" Bo glared at the woman in front of her.
Katrina shrugged, smirk still firmly set on her face. "I can careless what you think. I'm just doing my job, making sure everyone is safe, but most of all…" Katrina looked down on the dancefloor at Lauren as she danced with Kenzi and Nikki. "I'm enjoying watching and fantasizing about a sexy doctor with legs that go on for days."
Bo clenched her fists so tight she could feel her nails digging into the flesh of her palms. She mentally counted to ten; she really didn't want to do something she'd regret, or something that would ruin Lauren's night. But the way Katrina was looking at Lauren and the things she was saying was slowly pushing Bo's self-control to the brink.
Katrina moved into Bo's personal space. She was so close Bo could feel her hot breath on her face.
Meanwhile, on the dancefloor…
Lauren was having such a great time dancing with her friends she didn't see what was going on above her on the balcony until Kenzi said something.
"Uh Hotpants… I think we have a problem." Kenzi said as she pointed up toward the balcony.
Lauren's smile fell from her face in an instant as she recognized Katrina. "Shit!" Lauren began to make her way through the crowd as quickly as she could, Kenzi and Nikki in tow. She glanced up once more before she got to the stairs and became more worried as she seen Katrina invade Bo's personal space. When Lauren reached the steps she took them up to the VIP section two at a time.
Balcony…
"Tell me Bo…" Katrina licked her lips, "…does Lauren taste as good as she looks?" Katrina grinned wickedly.
In one quick motion Bo slammed Katrina into the wall, her hands gripping the lapels of Katrina's jacket.
"Stay the hell away from my wife!" Bo said through clenched teeth, she emphasized her words by pushing Katrina harder into the wall.
"You aren't married yet, and even if you were, it still wouldn't matter to me." Katrina smirked as she goaded Bo even further. "I'm not the jealous type." She whispered seductively.
"Bo, let her go." Jake put a hand on Bo's shoulder as he tugged on her gently. "This isn't the time or the place." He said softly as he tried to get her to ease her grip on Katrina.
"Bo?" Lauren called to her as she made her way over, her voice and features full of concern. Lauren stood behind Bo and placed a calming hand on Bo's stomach. "Babe, please…" Lauren whispered. "Not here."
Bo reluctantly released her hold on Katrina, taking a step back and a much needed deep breath. She wrapped her arms around Lauren and held her close as she continued to stare hard at Katrina, daring her to say anything else, or make a move so she could pounce.
"I think you should go now." Jake said as he pointed Katrina in the direction of the exit.
"Very well, but I assure you it was just a… misunderstanding." Katrina smiled as she adjusted her jacket. "Enjoy the rest of your evening, Bo." Katrina winked before making her way to the exit.
Bo growled as she watched Katrina leave. Lauren rubbed Bo's back to help try and calm her down.
"You okay Bo?" Lauren asked as she moved to stand in front of her fiancée.
"No, I'm not." Bo shook her head and looked down at her shoes; she was still fuming and did not know how to let it go. She didn't want to let it go, she wanted to knock Katrina the fuck out.
"Come on, let's go home." Lauren said softly as she laced their fingers together.
"No." Bo sighed as she looked up at Lauren. "We shouldn't let that bitch ruin our night, this is our engagement party damn it." Bo's lips curved up into a half smile. "Let's have one more drink and then we can head out, okay?"
"Okay." Lauren leaned in pecked Bo's lips.
To Bo and Lauren's surprise, most of their guests did not see what happened between Bo and Katrina. The happy couple stayed a little longer, had another drink, and danced a little before heading home, grateful that they didn't have any more run-ins with Katrina.
Bo and Lauren's bedroom…
Bo exited the bathroom after taking a long hot shower. Her kimono hung open as she stood in the doorway, towel drying her long dark locks. She looked over at Lauren who was resting up against the headboard reading something on her iPad.
Since they returned home, Bo had barely said a word as she went about undressing and preparing for her shower. She was still upset about the incident with Katrina. She really wanted to tell Lauren not to have anything to do with her, to have Dr. Caravelle fire the bitch and if he refused, she wanted Lauren to quit. Bo knew it was a drastic solution to the problem, but she didn't want Lauren around Katrina, not for one more second. She just didn't know how to go about talking to Lauren about it without sounding possessive or controlling. She wasn't sure how Lauren would take it and she was worried that it would only make things tense between them.
She knew she could completely trust Lauren; trust was definitely not the issue for Bo. Katrina's aggressiveness and her blatant lack of respect for her relationship with Lauren was the problem. She didn't trust Katrina to keep her hands to herself and she was worried that Katrina would hurt Lauren, in more ways than one.
Bo walked back into the restroom to hang her towel up and brush her teeth before making her way over to the bed. She grabbed her well-worn, oversized Sublime t-shirt and put it on before pulling back the covers and sliding into bed. She leaned back against the headboard and looked over at Lauren.
"You took a shower?" Bo asked as she noticed Lauren's damp hair.
"Uh huh." Lauren said as she continued reading.
"You could have joined me you know." Bo mumbled.
"I would have loved to, but you pretty much shut down ever since we left the club…" Lauren turned her head to look at Bo. "So I assumed you wanted your space and to be left alone, that's why I opted to shower in the other bathroom."
"I never said I wanted you to leave me alone." Bo countered.
"No, you just shut me out and haven't said one word to me until just now." Lauren turned off the iPad and placed it on the nightstand.
"I didn't mean… It's just…" Bo huffed. "Never mind." She rolled over and turned off the lamp on her nightstand. She was frustrated and tired and was upset at herself for not being able to just say what she needed to.
Lauren sighed heavily as she settled under the covers. She looked up into the darkness that engulfed the room not able to get comfortable or fall asleep. She has always hated to go to bed mad, or uneasy, or with so much tension in the air. But she knew pushing Bo to talk wouldn't help the situation any, in fact she knew it would start a huge unnecessary argument and that's the last thing she wanted. Lauren was brought out of her revere when she felt a familiar hand slide across her abdomen.
"I'm sorry babe." Bo scooted closer to Lauren, snuggling up to her, and placing a lingering kiss on her cheek. "I didn't mean to shut you out…" Bo sighed. "It's just, I didn't realize how pissed I was about my little confrontation with Katrina. I guess I was distracted by the drinking and the dancing, but once we left and we were on our way home, and I had time to really think about what happened, my anger came roaring back and I did a really poor job of handling it. I should have talked to you instead of shutting down." Bo placed a gentle hand on Lauren's cheek, her thumb caressing her cheek bone softly. "I really am sorry, Lauren." Bo whispered before leaning in and placing a feather like kiss on Lauren's lips.
"It's okay babe. But Bo, I need you to understand something though; we're a team, you and me, through thick and thin. I can understand if you need time to sort things out or to cool off, but please don't shut me out. If something is bothering you I want to know about it, I want to be the one to help you through it, the one you can depend on to have your back, no matter what."
"I know you do, that's one of the reasons I love you so much. I promise I'll try harder to not shut down and to remember that I have you in my corner." Bo squeezed Lauren a little tighter.
"That's right; I'm yo ride or die chick!" Lauren stated playfully.
"My what?" Bo propped herself on her elbow as she looked down at Lauren who was laughing. "Do you even know what that means?" Bo said as she too begun to laugh.
"No, but I heard it in one of those rap songs that Kenzi blasts all the time, it seemed fitting." Lauren said as she continued to giggle.
"You are adorkable baby." Bo said as she lay back down.
After a few minutes things got quite again until Lauren decided to break the silence.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Lauren asked.
"I guess we should." Bo sat up against the headboard, Lauren following suit. Bo took Lauren's hand and took a breath. "Lauren, I really want to ask you to do something, but I'm afraid of how you will react."
"Okay… well, tell me. Whatever it is, we'll talk it through and I'm sure we will come to a solution or a compromise we both can live with." Lauren gave Bo's hand a reassuring squeeze.
"Lauren, I don't want you around Katrina anymore, I think you should ask Dr. Caravelle to fire her and if he refuses…" Bo took a deep breath and looked down at their joined hands. "I, I think you should quit."
"Bo, I understand your concern, especially after tonight, but baby, I can't quit." Lauren said softly. Bo looked up at the ceiling in frustration.
"Then what, we just sit back and wait until that psycho bitch does something to hurt you? I swear Lauren if she does, I'll do something to her that will land me in prison for a long time." Bo said sternly.
"Well, I hope for our sake there are conjugal visits." Lauren said trying to lighten the mood.
"This isn't a joke Lauren!" Bo said as she jumped out of bed and began to pace. "That woman wants you and she wants you bad!" Bo ran an aggressive hand through her hair.
Lauren got up and made her way around the bed to her distressed fiancée. She placed her hands around Bo's biceps to halt her from her pacing. "Babe, relax… I'm sorry, I really am… I shouldn't be making jokes." Lauren pulled Bo into a hug hoping it would get her to calm down a bit.
It took Bo a moment but she relented and wrapped her arms around Lauren, nuzzling into her neck and allowing the scent of Lauren's shampoo to invade her senses. After a few moments Lauren pulled back from the embrace and guided Bo over to the bed. They sat side by side, holding hands, and taking calming breaths.
"Bo, I know you're worried about Katrina and her aggressiveness toward me and you have every right to be. I won't quit my job just yet, but I will talk to Dr. Caravelle and let him know everything that has been going on and ask him to put me on a shift where I wouldn't have to work with or see her at all." Lauren gave Bo her infamous half smile. "If that doesn't work, or he refuses to adjust my schedule, we'll sit down and have a serious talk about me resigning my position at the clinic."
Bo's head snapped up as she looked at Lauren wide-eyed. "You would seriously consider quitting?" Bo asked, clearly surprised.
"As a last resort, yes." Lauren brought Bo's hand to her lips and kissed her knuckles delicately. "Bo, you are going to be my wife in just under three months, if something is bothering my wife-to-be so much so, that she may do something that will land her in prison, then I will do everything and anything I can to prevent that from happening."
"You really are amazing you know that." Bo leaned in and kissed Lauren hard. "I love you so much." Bo pulled Lauren into her lap so that Lauren was now straddling her. "For the record, I really hope you don't have to quit, but I am worried about what Katrina will do if she gets you alone again."
"I know baby…" Lauren tucked a strand of hair behind Bo's ear. "It's all going to work out you know. I've worked too hard to get my happy ending and I'll be damned if that bitch ruins it for me." Lauren said with determination.
"Determined Lauren is so fucking hot." Bo whispered into Lauren's ear right before she nipped her ear lobe. Bo began to kiss and nip her way down Lauren's neck. "I think it's time for me to show you how hot you are." Bo lifted Lauren's night shirt over her head and tossed it to the floor before lifting Lauren easily and placing her on the bed. Bo removed her top before she climbed on the bed and hovered over her naked fiancée. They spent the rest of the night and early morning hours making love.
Next Morning in the Dal…
Trick, Alice, Jake, and Kenzi all sat around a table enjoying their waffles and coffee. They were all talking about the engagement party and how great it turned out. They also discussed Bo's little altercation with Katrina.
"So let me get this straight, after we left some woman and Bo got into it?" Alice asked.
"Yeah, apparently the same woman who's been relentlessly pursuing my sister." Jake said as he sipped his coffee.
"So this is another Doctor at the clinic Lauren works at?" Trick asked.
"No, she some security expert that Dr. Caravelle contracted for the clinic and she's had some serious lady wood for Lauren since her arrival. Bo's been trying to keep her green-eyed monster in check, but this bitch won't let up. All I gotta say is, she's some balls to approach Bo the way she did." Kenzi shook her head as she took another bite of her waffles.
"Well, I'm glad it didn't come to fisticuffs last night." Trick said relief evident in his posture.
"It may come to that if the wench doesn't back off." Kenzi said with a mouthful of food.
"Oh dear, I hope not." Alice said worriedly.
"Hey, don't worry about it. You know Lauren won't let Bo do anything that will get her into trouble, and Bo will make sure Lauren is safe." Jake patted his Mom's hand. "That's why they are so good together, they balance each other."
"Yeah, BoBo is Lauren's ying and Lauren is her yang." Kenzi stated just as Bo and Lauren walked in hand in hand, sporting an undeniable glow. "Here's the ying yang twins now!" Kenzi laughed.
"The what?" Bo laughed as she pulled a chair out for Lauren and then took a seat next to her, automatically reaching for her hand.
"Good morning everyone." Lauren greeted with a smile.
"So we hear there was some sort of altercation last night after we left." Alice said as she eyed the pair.
"Uh, yeah there was. But nothing to worry about, Lauren and I have come up with a way to handle Katrina." Bo looked at Lauren with a smile.
"Oh, and what is your plan, because Ysabeau I don't want you getting into a physical dispute if it's not necessary, you know how I feel about violence." Trick looked at Bo seriously.
"I know Trick and trust me we both want to avoid that too." Bo reassured him.
"We decided that I will go and talk to Dr. Caravelle and let him know everything that is going on. I am going to ask him to adjust my schedule so I won't have to be at the clinic at the same time Katrina is there and if that doesn't work then I am going to resign." Lauren shrugged.
"Resign? But where will you work?" Alice asked.
"Sis, I don't think you should let this woman run you out of your job." Jake said.
"Yeah Hotpants, I agree with Jake. Bo you can't seriously be on board with this." Kenzi was surprised that Bo would run away from a fight.
"Kenz, look, everyone. Lauren and I discussed this last night and this is our decision. I know it looks like we are letting her run Lauren out or we're running away from a fight, but that isn't what we are doing." Bo said.
"I really appreciate all of your concern for us, but I don't want to see my the love of my life walking around worried every time I have to go to work and I certainly don't want to see her get into a physical altercation and risk her getting into trouble or hurt. We have come too far and I love her too much to see anything bad happen to her or our relationship." Lauren squeezed Bo's hand. "As far as work goes, I'm not worried about that. I can always get a job at the hospital."
"Or, who knows, maybe Lauren can open her own clinic." Bo looked at Lauren with a grin.
"I, I don't know… I mean I never really… thought about that." Lauren looked at Bo wide-eyed.
"Why don't you? That sounds like a great idea." Alice chimed in.
Everyone at the table seemed to agree with that idea. After all, with Bo and Lauren's combined bank accounts it was a real possibility, a possibility that never crossed Lauren's mind before. She looked at Bo and Bo knew instantly that her wheels were turning. Bo leaned over and kissed Lauren on the cheek, effectively breaking her from her revere.
"We'll talk later, but just think about it." Bo whispered to her.
Lauren nodded and smiled brightly at Bo. Why couldn't she open her own clinic, be her own boss? She could conduct research; she could treat anyone she wanted to, regardless of their financial situation. One thing she did know for certain was that none of that would be open for discussion until after the wedding and after Bo had her degree. In the mean time, she just hoped that Dr. Caravelle would work with her to resolve the Katrina situation as painless and as quick as possible.
