Chapter 16

Laura slowly falls into a deep sleep, but she couldn't really sleep she was having visions of what was going on. She saw that Selene was dragging a reluctant Doctor Singe with him and the guards were helping her out.

Laura even though she wasn't really there had to shiver when she saw that Victor was back and alive on his newly throne. "What do we have here my dear?"

Selene said "Proof that Lucian is alive," She stabbed Singe," Talk!"

Singe said "For years, we've been trying to combine the bloodlines. And for years, we've failed. It was useless. Even at the cellular level, our species seemed destined to destroy each other. Yet the key, we knew... was to locate the rarest of bloodlines... a direct descendant of Alexander Corvinus... Hungarian, a warlord... who came to power in the early seasons of the fifth century. Just in time to watch a plague ravage his village. He alone survived. Somehow, his body was able to change the disease... mold it to his benefit. He became the first true immortal. And years later, he fathered at least two children... who inherited the same trait. "

Viktor slightly interested in where this was going said "The sons of the Corvinus clan. One bitten by bat, one by wolf... one to walk the lonely road of mortality as a human. It's a ridiculous legend, nothing more."

Singe trying to save his life went on "That may be... but our species do have a common ancestor."

Laura whispered "Hold on in there you traitor we still need you alive."

Viktor rolled his eyes and pointed to Marcus's grave and said "There is a descendant of Corvinus lying there. Not three feet from you."

Singe tried to back away getting scared, Laura growled at him and as if sensing her he stop and continued "Yes. But he's already a Vampire. We needed a pure source... untainted. An exact duplicate of the original virus. The Corvinus strain itself, which we learned... was hidden away in the genetic code of his human descendants... and passed along in its dormant form... down through the ages to Michael Corvin. His blood allows for a perfect union between our species."

Viktor hissed and bared his fangs "There can be no such union. And to speak of it is heresy."

Singe stuttered out "We'll see. Once Lucian has injected him..." trying to explain why they wanted Michael

Viktor yelled out causing Selene and Laura to jump "Lucian is dead."

Singe then turned to Kraven and smiled "According to whom?"

With that Kraven left and Selene tried to follow but Viktor stopped her and Laura hissed out "Come to us Kraven and let me and Lucian finish you off."

Viktor turned to Selene and said" I can assure you my child... Kraven will pay with his life."

Singe said looking at all of the vampires in the room" Soon this house will lie in ruins."

Selene glared at him "Not before you," and tried to get out a weapon to kill him.

Singe held out his hand to stop them and said "No, wait. Wait. You and you alone will know the truth of this. If Lucian was able to get his hands on the blood of a Pure-Born... a powerful elder like Amelia... or you," he then points to Viktor and then continued, "...and inject it along with Michael's blood..."

Viktor whispered "Abomination."

Singe smiled and said "Half-Vampire... Half-Lycan... but stronger than both!"

With that Victor had Singe dragged off and said to Selene "You my dear are going to stop this but also get your revenge on the lycans that you so want...but first you need to kill this Michael."

Selene Laura could tell was shocked and didn't want to do so...before Laura could learn what was going to happen next, the room faded and Laura woke up to Raze shaking her awake and saying "Miss Laurena, were here."

Laura smiled and turned to Michael who was waking up and trying to break free of the chains that held him, she said "Get him comfortable, Lucian will want to see him."

The lycans nodded and held onto the struggling Michael, Laura ran through the tunnels to the area where Lucian usually was at. Lucian looked nervous and Laura heard him mummer "Please let my Laurena come home safe to me, I can't lose another mate."

Laura gasped at the mate part which caused Lucian to turn around and spot Laura, he slowly came up to her and touched her face to see if she was real and he then embraced Laura close not letting her go "Oh my sweet, sweet Laura your home and safe...I'm not ever letting you out of my sight again or go on any dangerous missions without me or one of my most trusted lycans...I thought I had lost you like..."

Laura shushed him "Hush my Lucian I'm safe and well...plus I got Michael here and he is a lycan...our plan is in motion, but the vampires are coming, we must hurry and be quick...they mean to kill us all."

Lucian kissed Laura's head and pulled back but slowly moved them to the medical lab "I know my love...and will be ready to fight them back...no one is going to stop our plan...I will not fell this time, you will see the sun and our race will go on."

Laura smiled and pulled Lucian close "I know Lucian...we will be ready for the war to come."
