"Why does everything always end in a hospital visit?" Tony muttered as he waited for news on Kate's condition. Fidgeting wasn't passing the time, nothing really was, not even when he called his dad and Ducky to let them know what was happening. Almost an hour and a half had gone by even though it felt like it had been days. He'd always hated hospitals, he'd spent a lot of time here, felt the uncertainty over and over again. Between Kate, Ziva and Abby he might as well pay rent here. He sighed and covered his face with his hands, his elbows were digging into his knees.
"Sir?" Tony's head shot up as he full attention on the doctor in front of him who was pretty but had nothing on his wife.
"Yeah?"
"Your wife is doing well. She has a concussion and a fractured arm but she'll be fine," The doctor smiled.
"Thank God! Thank you so much," Tony stood up but was stuck by a thought.
"And the baby? Is our baby OK?" Tony asked feeling guilty.
"I'm sorry but it was too early on for the baby to have stood a chance," The doctor replied sympathetically as Tony sunk back down into the plastic seat.
"Does Kate know?"
"Yes."
"Can I see her?"
"Of course," The doctor smiled sadly as she lead him to his wife.
"Hey," Tony said softly as he sat down next to the bed and took Kate's hand in his own.
"Hi," Kate sniffed ignoring the tears running down her pale cheek and landing on her lap.
"Kate-" Tony begun but Kate interrupted.
"Tony, the baby, it's..." She trailed off unable to speak because of the wrenching sobs racking through her small frame. Tony's chest ached from the pressure of holding in his own tears as he climbed on to the bed and pulled her against her, "I'm so sorry, Tony."
"No, babe, this isn't your fault, none of this is your fault," Tony promised her kissing her forehead as she shook uncontrollable, "I know this is difficult and it really sucks but as soon as your better we can try for another, we can make this better, OK?"
"OK," Kate whispered. Tony shifted slightly in order to get more comfortable.
"Don't shut me out," Tony said quietly after a few minutes of silence. Kate responded with a shakily sigh.
It was another hour before Gibbs and Ducky arrived looking out of breath.
"Daddy," Kate whimpered,Tony slipped off the bed so that Ducky could see to his daughter.
"Oh, Caitlin," Ducky pressed a kiss to the top of her head which set off the sobbing again which Tony couldn't take any more as he fled from the room dodging Gibbs' attempt to stop him.

Burnley sat in interrogation silently wishing to go home. He was sweating like crazy, he hadn't kill anyone but they were never going to believe that after he knocked that cop down the stairs. His girlfriend was so going to dump his ass when she found out. It was the door slamming against the wall so hard that the door splintered that made Burnley falling out of his chair. Tony grabbed his hair and slammed his face against the floor.
"Dude! What the hell!"
"You know if it was up to me you pathetic little life would have ended as soon as you lay a finger on my partner but I've been thinking that maybe you deserve to live and see just how much damaged you caused today!"
"I don't know what you're talking about! She tripped! Honest she did!"
"She tripped?" Even more rage was building up in the pit of Tony's stomach, "You know you better start telling the truth if you want to leave here in one piece."
Burnley stayed silent but Tony could feel him shaking so he sighed and let him go.
"Sit down, another agent will be in to interrogate you soon," Tony took a deep breath before forcing himself to leave the man who had single handedly ruined his life to be judged by the legal system.
…
Ducky and Gibbs were still at the hospital with Kate so Tony went to his parents' with the promise to go see Kate once his dad got home; all he wanted was the familiar surrounding of his childhood home instead of his empty apartment.
Abby was sitting on the couch when Tony shuffled over and fell into the seat next to her
"What you watching?"
"The hobbit," Abby said staring at him until he made eye contact and then sharply looking away.
"What?" Tony said irritatedly
"Nothing...it's just Dad called," Abby mumbled, "I'm really sorry, Tony."
"Don't be, Abbs, sometimes these things happen, that's just life."
"I wish it wasn't."
"Me too...hey where's Ziva?" Tony looked puzzled as he threw his arm around his sister and stole some popcorn from the bowl perched on her lap.
"Not here, she took Toni to see mum for a bit, she was upset."
"Toni?"
"No, Zee was."
"How come?"
"She went to the hospital to see Kate and she point blank refused to see them."
"I think Kate just doesn't want to be around kids for a bit, I mean she loves Antonia but maybe it's a good thing to...keep her from seeing her for a while."
"She is going to be OK isn't she?"
"C'mon we'll go see her, Dad and uncle Ducky will probably need to go back to work so we'll take over. Go get your shoes."
…
"She wouldn't let me in, Dad told me to go home apparently she was really upset with me being there," Ziva said cradling her daughter close to her.
"Zee, I don't think it was you she didn't want to see," Jenny said as she signed off another case file.
"Antonia? Why wouldn't she want to see Toni?"
"Think about it; she just got used to the idea of having a baby, she was really excited, Tony too and to have it ripped away like that, it couldn't have been easy. Seeing Toni, who's a health and strong little girl might be too difficult right now because they've just lost what you've already got."
"But won't seeing Toni help?"
"It doesn't seem like it, not right now but it's only been a few hours, give her some time."
"What about Tony, will he not want to see her?"
"I don't know you'll have to ask, just don't take Antonia to the hospital again, OK sweetie?"
"OK," Ziva sighed.
…
"Hey," Abby smiled poking her head around the door into Kate's room.
"Hi," Kate said timidly, "Your dad just left."
"I know we ran into him; Tony is getting coffee, the good stuff non of this hospital crap," Abby pulled a face as she made her way over to sit on the edge of the bed.
Kate giggled a little, "Like father like daughter."
"You OK, Katie?" Abby asked
"I will be," Kate promised, Abby smiled softly at her and lend over to give her a hug.
"OK, who wants Starbucks!" Tony called as he shut the door with his foot.
