Chapter 17: The curse
So the chapter is a bit long, but I wanted to make sure that the curse would be an important part to the story. Please leave a review when you liked it!.
They walked around in the woods, snow covered the ground and the only thing they could see were their own footsteps.
Taylor walked next to Killian before her knees buckled beneath her but before she could hit the snowy blanketed ground, Killian caught her, grabbing her by the arms.
"Are you okay miss A?" he asked as he still held her, afraid that she might fall again.
"I think I just need a break…"
"That's fine."
They settled down against a tree, the ground was cold and they both shivered from the winter breeze as the snow fell on their faces. Taylor closed her eyes as she felt her face begin to freeze from the snow.
And after a few minutes she opened them again, saying "I think we should walk further." She said whilst standing up even though her back still hurt.
"Taylor I think it's for the best if we…" But he got interrupted "We're going further." Taylor said firmly as she took a few steps further.
Then they walked, they didn't know where the next village would be or if they would ever reach one. But after a long walk they hit a little village, far on the edge of the kingdom of their king and queen. James, who everyone called Charming, and Snow White.
"Can you please tell me where we're going?" She asked.
"To a place they call Safe Haven, it's a bit further than this village."
"It's coming, it's coming!" A man yelled as everyone was locking themselves in their houses. Taylor knew they were talking about the curse that the Evil Queen had casted. But no one knew what this curse exactly was and what it would do.
"We must go further." Killian said and began to walk through the crowd to reach the quicker path to what this so called Safe Haven.
"What is this Safe Haven exactly?" Taylor asked.
"It's a place where we will be safe from the curse. We need to cross the north river and then walk the last part through the woods."
She did not reply after that yet she wanted to ask why all the people went in their houses and didn't go along with them to this safe place. But she felt that Killian began to feel irritated by her questions. So she just walked along with him until they reached the north river. It was a big one though, with a very strong current. So therefore there was only one way to cross it, walking on the rocks which were settled in the water.
Taylor went first so if she would fall, Killian could catch her before she would enter the cold water.
"Are you okay Taylor?" Killian yelled to her as she jumped on the next rock.
"I'm fine!" she yelled back.
And yes, it all went totally fine. Until Killian slipped on one of the last rocks of the path.
"Killian!" Taylor turned around on the rock and took a hold his arms before he could totally be washed away and under the water. She pulled them both from the last rock and to the side of the river where she fell on the snow and the movement caused her back to sting, but she ignored it.
"I guess we were lucky." She said.
"I guess so…"
And after another long walk they took a short break.
"Killian… I was thinking, what will happen when this curse starts?"
"I don't know my love… I really don't know."
Taylor hesitated, "You have to promise me we will get back together. We have to find each other just like always."
"Taylor…"
"Please Killian…"
"Did you ever think I was going to leave you alone? Wherever we end up, I will find you and we will never live alone for the rest of our lives." He said and gently kissed her forehead as she laid her head on his shoulder.
He grabbed her freezing hands and she started to slip away in his arms.
"Love, stay awake."
"It's so cold…"
He started to shake her body and she opened her eyes, she would die if she fell asleep for too long. And they would both die if he would fell asleep from the cold too. So they walked further to stay warm, rather than sitting on the snow.
"What was that…" Taylor asked as she heard a noise in the distance.
"It sounds like… horses?"
"Bloody hell!" Taylor said as she began to run. Horses… The exact same sound she heard from when Regina stormed into Rumple's castle. It couldn't be anything other than the black knights and the Evil Queen herself.
And then they came, the black horses came closer as Taylor and Killian ran further towards Safe Haven. But not far away from the line, they got stopped and surrounded by black knights jumping off their horses.
Taylor took her bow from her back and started to shoot the men down as Killian kicked and punched them back against the trees.
"We need to run!" Killian yelled at Taylor who continued to fight.
"How are we supposed to do that? We won't make it!"
Her hair fell out of the braid and the lightly curled hair fell over her shoulders, dancing with her every time she made a movement.
One of the knights pulled on her hair down suddenly, sending her down onto the floor before she kicked the knight away with a grunt.
"Now!" Killian said as they both began to run to the line, which marked the safety boundaries.
"Killian why did all the people go into their houses and wouldn't come along with us?" she yelled.
"Can't you find a better moment to ask questions?" he yelled back at her.
She stopped running "They didn't know right? You are the only bloody person who knows about this place."
"Taylor there is no time to argue, no I am not the only one there already are some people there. We need to run further!"
But she didn't move "You just let those humans suffer? You could have told them about Safe Haven!"
"Then we wouldn't make it! Then YOU wouldn't make it…" he signed and saw black guards approaching them "Watch out!" he yelled at Taylor as they continued to run towards them.
He just left those poor innocents in their houses, they could be saved from this curse. But no, Killian didn't think of them. Killian was just the same person as he had always been, Captain Hook. The selfish drunk ass.
But she still loved him and couldn't stop loving him for that.
"There it is, we're gonna make it Taylor!"
But just before she reached the line Taylor tripped over a branch and Killian was unaware, crossing over the line without her.
"Killian!" she screamed as the knights grabbed her arms. But before Killian could save her, the residents of Safe Haven had already taken Killian so he couldn't go back. It would be too dangerous for him to do so.
"Bloody hell, let me go!" he yelled at the residents as he couldn't take on all the men who kept him back and inside the safe place.
"It's okay Killian, it's okay!" the tears fell over her cheeks as the knights pulled her up onto her feet and took her further away from the line.
"I'm sorry, for everything! I'm sorry!" he shouted so she could still hear it "I love you Taylor French Allingswood!"
He said French, he NEVER said French. This was the first time he said her full name.
"I love you too Killian Jones…" She whispered as her tears fell in the snow.
"How sweet… The captain and the lost princess, ironic isn't it?" The knights let Taylor go as Regina stepped in front of her.
"Why do you take everyone's happy ending away… Do you think this is funny?
"Oh dear, this is the most amusing moment of my life. Everyone's happy ending will be ripped apart in... well… Not so long at all." She smirked, looking at the young girl with nothing other than darkness.
"I always thought you were just like Rumple, that you were misunderstood but with a good heart. But now?" she laughed lightly, "Now I know Rumple is much better than you are, because his heart has love in it. And yours? It's like you don't have a heart."
Regina, as if to prove a point, reached into her chest and took out her own heart showing it to Taylor, "Do you see this? This is a heart, but my heart is fully black. Black because of hatred and my love for revenge, and revenge I shall get." Regina walked towards Taylor and plunged her hand into her chest, pulling out the young girls heart. Taylor gasped and fell to her knees onto the snowy ground.
"I want to crush it now… But I think I'll just wait for the right moment. Maybe I can find a use of you later on." Regina put the heart back it Taylor's chest but Taylor didn't stand back up.
"Where are we going…?" she asked, feeling defeated.
"To a place where the only happy ending, will be mine."
Taylor was then surrounded by a purple mist, as the Evil Queen made her way towards Snow White's castle.
She closed her eyes and the purple mist turned into black from her closed eyes. The curse had started.
