Chapter 17

Laura pulled back and said to Lucian "So where did you put Michael? I told them all to put him somewhere comfortable."

Lucian quickly smiled "He is comfortable, in one of the lab rooms, I've lost the scientist and doctor...so we need someone to finish the work...I have to, and so do you."

"I thought you could put him in a guest rooms...we don't need to start right away my love."

Lucian pulled Laura down the long tunnel hallway and kissed the top of her head "We need to do this tonight or else we will never know...this will work for all of us, I promised you my love."

Laura nodded "You promise that Michael will not get hurt Lucian, I think that Selene vampire really likes him."

Lucian snorted "Michael should be with his own kind," Laura looked down at that part and Lucian understood, "Your different my love, you should be a lycan like us...you hate vampires and are nothing like them...I love you just the way you are."

Laura put her head on Lucian shoulder as they walked to the lab. Sabas and Raze guarded the door. As they got closer the lycans dipped their heads as respect and opened the door where Michael was tied up and was knocked out "Are you sure that he will live through this...I don't want him to die."

"He won't my love."

The voices of Lucian and Laura woke up Michael, when he saw the both of them he started to struggle and tried to break free. Laura tried to calm him down "Don't struggle Michael your safe with us...those vampires would have killed you, we just need a little of your blood and a few other things...you're also with you own kind."

This did not calm him down on bit and then yelled at Lucian "I have to go... I have to get back!"

Lucian just growled at what he said, but was calmed down by Laura and said "There's no going back, there's no going anywhere. The vampires will kill you on sight, just for being one of us. You ARE one of us!"

Michael just gasped at that and said "Your war... it has nothing to do with me..."

Lucian snorted and said "My war?"

Laura put a hand on Lucian to calm him down, but it didn't work. Laura sighed and said "Michael we didn't start the war...the vampires did by enslaving us."

Michael looked at her and her sharp teeth "You're a vampire too."

Lucian got real close to Michael baring his lycan teeth and said "Don't ever compare her to those creatures again."

Michael didn't give up and said "But did you not fall in love with a vampire named Sonja...I saw it."

Laura knew that Michael and Lucian would have a connection but didn't think he would bring it up and sighed and said "You really shouldn't have said that Michael."

Lucian was about to attack him when Laura grabbed him and soothed him down "My love why don't you just explain why we hate vampires and why he can't go back to them or Selene."

Lucian nodded and stared his story, Laura by his side throughout it all. He never took his eyes off Michael "We were slaves once. The daylight guardians of the vampires; I was born into servitude. Yet I harbored them no ill will. Even took a vampire for my bride. It was forbidden, our union. Viktor feared a blending of the species. Feared it so much he killed her. His own daughter my love of my life Sonja, she was Burnt alive for loving me. This is his war not my own, Viktor's. And he spent the last 600 years exterminating my species."

Michael looked down then started to say something but Laura shook her head and said "Don't say anything; you don't know Lucian or my friend Sonja. I hated those vampires, everyone but Sonja. She was my friend, my only besides Lucian. You want to know my story Michael," Michal nodded so Laura continued, "I was a slave to the vampires, they burned down my village, my friends and family killed in front of me. They took me as a slave; Sonja saved me and made me her personal maid. Why I am a vampire now is because of Kraven, he wanted me to see how lycans are to vampires...but they stood by me because I'm there family...Sonja was one of them but they didn't care at all...at least lycans are loyal to their own. I know you love Selene and I hope she will see the light of some of the vampires...especially Viktor; but he will be dead soon," Laura saw Michal look back down, "So now you see."

Lucian was about to set up what was needed for the experiments but was interrupted by the knocking at the door. Lucian growled and said "Of all the times to be interrupted."

Laura said "I'll get it my love; you know that it must be important to interrupt us."

Laura then felt the presence of vampires and she hissed out eyes turning dark blue and dilating fangs coming out "Vampires...death dealers."

Lucian growled and burst the door open and saw Raze and yelled out to him "Get all the lycans ready," Raze nodded and yelled out to all the lycans presence. All of them transforming, Lucian then turned back to Laura "Go and lock yourself up and I'll put Sabas as your guard...don't argue with me my love...I won't lose you like Sonja."

Laura sighed and quickly kissed Lucian "Be safe my love."

Lucian savored the feeling and then pushed Laura down the hallway to safety. When she got to her room and saw Sabas. "My lady Laurena...quickly get in."

Laura nodded and closed the door with Sabas inside with her and whispered "My love please be safe."
