Chapter 23

Lucian pulled Laura as far away from Marcus as possible, he didn't want her to be killed for being a traitor to the vampire race, for helping the lycans escape and all of that. Selene stood her ground by Michael.

Marcus was the first to speak "Hello Father."

Alexander Corvinus was having none of this, anyone else who knew who they where speaking to, or even if they did not would have backed down. Laura just at that moment had respect for Corvinus "You are unwelcome in my presence."

Marcus snorted and hissed out "Ah. The predictable heart that never thaws. Pity it beats within such a fool. The eldest of the immortals, yet you have made no attempt to seize your destiny."

Laura snorted at this "Your one to speak you and the whole vampire race."

Marcus glared at her and yelled out "I told you once before to hold your tongue! Do I have to rip it out of you, I would enjoy seeing a traitor like you in pain," He then turned to Selene, "I will do worse to you as soon as I'm finished with my Father."

Alexander Corvinus stopped the interaction before any of the hybrids could get in the way "Leave them alone, they have nothing to do with our conversation. We are oddities of nature, you and me. Nothing more! This is a world for humanity."

Marcus snorted at that "And that petty sentiment explains why you rejected your sons? Why you stood by for over half a millennium as William suffered alone in darkness? No, Father, I have no respect for your petty sentiment. Viktor's key. Where is it?"

Alexander Corvinus snapped at him "Whatever plan you have for William is futile. You cannot control your brother."

Marcus grabbed Alexander by the neck "Oh, I am stronger now. And our bond is greater than you have ever wanted to acknowledge."

Laura snorted "No one can control those types of lycans, they only have loyalty for a while! Your insane. And you will cost millions just to save one, I wouldn't even do that to save, all of the lycans that are in our pack."

Marcus didn't like this at all and made a grab for her but Alexander wouldn't let his son harm anyone else. Alexander Corvinus grabbed his son again and said "You're wrong. Soon you'll be drowning in Lycans just like before."

Marcus yelled and whispered at the same time "Oh, not Lycans, Father, or Vampires. A new race created in the image of their maker. Their new God, Me."

Marcus impales Alexander to the wall with his talon before anyone could do anything about it. Laura yelled out, and tried to be of assistant even though Alexander wasn't there for them she would be there for him. Lucian stopped her "No there is no help, and I won't loose you."

Laura had tears in her eyes, she couldn't stand to see anyone in pain who didn't deserve to die or be harmed, ones that have hurt her like Marcus deserved what was going to happen to him in the end.

Marcus finished what he was saying "And a true God,"he then picks up a sword, "has no father."

Marcus drives the sword through Alexander, then takes the key out of his top pocket, Lucian saw the exit and grabbed Laura "Come on there is nothing we can do here, we are no help to them, I will not lose you. Selene and Michael have got this handled."

Alexander Corvinus whispered out bleeding out on the floor "You will fail."

Lucian slipped out with Laura in his arms. But Laura saw everything through her what she now knows a visions. Marcus grabs Selene and drank her blood and Laura saw all of the locations that were hidden away from Selene but open to her now.

As soon as Lucian put her on the ground Laura collapsed gasping for breath "Where to late, he's got the location."

"Ssssh it's alright Laura, we will help them."

Laura heard that but couldn't see Lucian, Selene was at Alexander's side and she heard him say "Drink my blood it will help by enhancing her physical strength and healing abilities to a level equivalent to that of a hybrid, like him, but not at the same time," he said pointing to Michael in the corner.

Laura gasped out "He's helping us, Selene is drinking his blood."

Lucian said "How do you know all of this?"

Laura didn't answer Lucian; Selene drank Alexander's blood and saw that Selene was healing up. After she was done, Corvinus had a button in his hand and said "Get out why I still let you...go stop my sons and never interfere again."

Selene helps Michael up and they ran out of the building just as it blew up. Laura opened her eyes and gasped out for breath still feeling all of the pain. Lucian kissed the top of her head "Are you alright my love?"

"Yes Lucian, but don't worry about me, we need to stop the upcoming war that is surly coming to us."

Lucian didn't want the conversation to be over but by the look Laura was giving him he had to let it go. Selene limped over to them "I know the location that Marcus is heading in."

"Yes I saw it and heard it, we may be able to stop this if we still work together...plus if what Corvinus says is true you will be able to handle this."

Selene nodded and headed towards the vehicle that Michael was driving. Laura saw flashes before her eyes but didn't mention it to anyone, she just hopes what she saw happen was true. She lay against Lucian and whispered out "Everything always works out in the end, I have to keep my hope to survive in this world."

Lucian looked at Laura and rubbed his noise against her neck and kissed her, he would protect her from whatever lays ahead when they face off with Marcus. Even if he has to lock her up somewhere until it was over, she was the only person keeping him going, his sweet Laura.
